Stargate Information Archive _ Atlantis Spoiler Archive _ Episode 202 - "The Intruder"

Posted by: Arcady Mar 6th 2005, 5:04 PM

The second episode of season 2 is entitled "Intruder." Here's the little bit of info posted over at GateWorld:

'Intruder' was written by Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi, directed by Peter DeLuise, and produced by Paul Mullie and Joseph Mallozzi. The events of 'Siege III' are going to have wide-raging effects, effecting both individuals and Atlantis as a whole -- new faces, a new dynamic, and ... an intruder.

Well how did they come accross this information. I mean, are all the scripts for the next season already published?

I have an early theory on this one.
Perhaps the intruder is a wraith conciousness in tayla.
She was missing at the end of season 1 maybe she was taken over
That way shes running free spying for the wraith and they can't shoot her so...

I doubt its going to be a Wraith because they've already been intruders twice and from the previous times they're very easy to find using sensors... so whoever it is must have a human life sign or be undetectable...hmmm.

This story sounds mightily interesting already!

Thanks very much for reminding me? would you like vinegar to pour in the wound as well? Salt Perhaps? biggrin.gif (j/k)

I?m absolutely obsessed with the Ancients and Atlantis but I have to get by hovering around spoilers like a vulture while the US actually gets to know more about who and what the Ancients were/are. I can't wait, no really I can't!

Well, at least we get the second half before you! Hardy Har Har! 1.gif

well they can do like i do to get the second half early just well do that internet thingy

Posted by: JamesyBHOY Mar 27th 2005, 5:59 PM

Although it will be very hard, I don't know if when it starts if I'll be back here at all. Since I don't want to read anything that will spoil it for me, Even a mistimed post from a newbie or someone who forgot the spoiler button could spoil something that goes on in the middle or end of the series. The I'll be waiting for the next 2/3 months already knowing large parts of the plot already. That would really suck...

I wouldn't bother getting them from the net, By the time it starts in North America in July it will be almost half way through when it begins on Sky1 around beginning/mid October. So then I'll have watched the entire series while it's only half way thorugh the UK viewings. I'd rather hold out the tempation of watching it early. It'll be far more worthwhile in the long run.

That thought occurred to me as well, but I'm thinking it's too obvious. Maybe that's what everyone is thinking, but it's actually someone else on the team, like maybe Ford or the Colonel. They're both in a bad place at the end of Season 1. There are already Spoilers out there that Ford's role will change this season, so maybe this episode will be the story line behind that change. The possibilities...

Posted by: droid1701 Mar 29th 2005, 5:49 AM

It is possible that the intruders are the Geni either the female prisoner or a recon person sent to spy on Atlantis or it could .be the Asguard member that has been hinted at for so long. So many possibilities too much bloody time to wait. I want the time machine so that I can watch season two NOW!!!!

Posted by: JamesyBHOY Mar 29th 2005, 11:21 AM

I don't think the Gen's will be the intruders. Nor will it be the Asgard, Simply because how would it arrive. Not through the gate, So then it would have to come by ship & so would reveal itself by attacking the enemy ships. Not travel to another galaxy in a hidden ship, then when they reach it, proceed to sneak about an Ancient city that's infested by an Enemy who managed to wipe out the most powerful race ever created.

We won't see any Asgard coming to the rescue. There probably will be an Asgard though but it'll be on the Daedalus.

It does seem obvious though, Ever since I saw the episode in early march. I immediately thought when you see Teyla's people lying around the empty room with their expended cartridges scattered around their bodies. The the camera goes back & you see her weapon lying there with no sign. Then the automatic assumption is she's been grabbed. Perhaps the Wraith will be driven from the city in The Siege III then one remains inside her by taking over her conscious body. That does seem to be the logical explanation. Although if it is then I can't see her being a regular part of season 2. You honestly think Shep, Mckay + the new guy Dex will go on away missions with her. If she can be turned & controlled by the Wraith easily.

Posted by: look_out_below Apr 3rd 2005, 11:59 PM

Hmm thats a good point JamesyBHOY. Im thinking that if it isnt the Wriath/Teyla thing then it might be something but that has been hinted at. Like whoever invented that nano virus thing in Hot Zone, because you know Atlantis will meet them eventually in 2nd season and why not sooner then later.

Not necessarily. We learned about the Furlings in season 1 of SG1 and learned their name in season 2 but we still havent seen them. The creators of the nano virus could be te big Atlantis mystery.

Posted by: avatar28 Apr 4th 2005, 1:23 PM

Okay, I'm actually willing to bet that it's going to be Lt Ford. Read the spoiler below and you can see why. From the information given, I'd say it's about 80% probable that it's Ford.

IMDb lists Beau Bridges as having a guest appearence on Intruder as his character from SG1.

There is a crossover, Weir & Caldwell use the new ZPM to dial a wormhole back to the GSC for a meeting with Landry (Beau Bridges.)

I don't normally post anything...i mainly perfer to sit back an read what you all post then sit back an think on things......so i've been thinking...maybe the intruder is a goald symbiote<not sure if i typed that right> that had infested with one of the Daedalus crew members before the ship left earth....or the sneaky lil' snake could be hiding in one of the solders who came to Atlantis in last season's fanale...Im just guessing here so pleaaaaase don't bite my head off

Posted by: JamesyBHOY Jun 17th 2005, 7:03 AM

I only posted them up here & the writers give away more spoilers than anything else. Besides I have a big ass dog they'd have to get past first before they even got to the door in the first place, Should they get past him then I'm off to the land of OZ & you can harbour me as a spoiler fugitive. w00t.gif

Martin Gero has already said about no Goa'uld in Atlantis & Joe Mallozzi has also said that there will be a lot less Goa'uld story arcs this season. Basically they have been the top dogs for 8 years & now it's time to take it in a different direction with new enemies.

Not to say that they Goa'uld are completely finished, Just that they will be taking a back seat for the time being & not be the main focus of the show. They aren't gone completely just in the bakground licking their wounds.

Having looked at the spoiler pics from TS3 where you see Ford holding a gun in the medical bay & Runner where Ford has managed to escape Atlantis through the StarGate. In my opinion, I'm 99% certain that the Intruder is Ford.

on the prometheus it's on the left

i guess TPTB wanted to show that it's a totally different ship

i'm gonna enrage a load of people here BUT i don't really think that Weir (or torri higginson) is that hot actually. yeah she's quite 'easy on the eyes' but i don't think she is all that

looking at a couple of pics of some of the new female characters in SGA then there's gonna be a few very good looking women appearing.

all i have to say to that is= w00t.gif w00t.gif w00t.gif

It's possible that they chnged things about, but I think that they may have simply added in an extra one.

Weir is not a babe or anything near that. Out it this way if I was getting a free shot, I wouldn't turn it down. Besides Doc Lee, Why do you think Thomas Edison invented the light switch. 1.gif However there are plenty better looking chicks, I even noticed a few potentials on the Daedalus bridge.

Is it just me that thinks recycling a storyline, and even admitting it, is weak? After reading that, I started losing interest in this episode. I'll still watch it, of course, but I lost a certain exhuberance about it... dry.gif

Posted by: JamesyBHOY Jun 24th 2005, 8:41 AM

I honestly thought Ford. Now this explains why Caldwell is heard telling Weir that he wants his ship back in the season 2 teaser that has been floating around.

The problem here, is Atlantis is a new show. So almost all possible scenarios have been done to death many times over on SG-1 & all other sci-fi shows combined. Therefore it's difficult to come up with a truly original idea. Since finding this out it's lessend my enthusiasm for this particular ep ever so slightly. Other than the fact that this could be an indication that Wraith ships are biogenic & when it detected that it was about to be destroyed, it jumped ship & downloaded itself into the next available thing... Daedalus. (Presumably only because of the Asgard systems that would be advanced enough to hold it.) It's pretty obvious that they will purge/kill it somehow before the end of the ep or sometime in the next one 'Runner'. Otherwise they won't be flying back & forth to the MW on supply runs, With a Wraith virus still in tow that could be relaying all kinds of info back. It seems like a clone of 'Duet' to me, things being downloaded into other things, with the exception that 'Duet' seems to be far more comedic in nature.

But if you think about it, that's exactly what the Star Trek franchise has done so successfully for many years. Every subsequent series of Star Trek re-used stories taken from the original.

Yeah, that kinda bothered me about those episodes of Star Trek, too... Maybe it's just me. I acknowledge the difficulty of coming up with enough original ideas, but there are a lot of writers out there. If the ones you got can't get it done, get some new ones. That being said, when the writer is also an executive producer (as in this case) you kinda have to go along with it...

I think those episodes can be interesting though, from a critical point-of-view. Giving three different writers the same plot outline and seeing where they each end up can be fun.

New plot details have arrived for "The Intruder," the second episode of Stargate Atlantis's new season!

Beware of spoilers below!!!

"A mysterious intruder has infected the Dadealus's computers with a virus that may allow them to take control of the ship.

"When a scientist is killed in the Daedalus's computer room, McKay (David Hewlett) first believes the poor circuitry is at fault. However, when another scientist is killed while investigating the death, McKay begins to suspect that someone -- or something -- is deliberately planning these breakdowns.

"Soon after, McKay is alerted to a virus on one of the ship's computers. When he runs its code through a translator, he is shocked to discover that it is written in Wraith. Even worse, he learns that the virus has the ability to re-write itself, making it seemingly impossible to conquer. Realizing that the program's capability to mutate has virtually given it a mind of its own, McKay worries that the Wraith may use the virus to take control of the ship -- with potentially deadly results.

"As feared, the virus's artificial intelligence soon takes control of the Daedalus's auxiliary ships, and the crew becomes increasingly powerless to defend themselves. Fearing that the Wraith will use the Daedalus's advanced features to attack Atlantis, McKay and Sheppard (Joe Flanigan) race against the clock to counteract the virus before the Wraith turn the Daedalus's advanced technology against the city."

Based on the fact that the Daedalus obviously takes out the first wave of wraith ships (2 Hives...9 cruisers...thousands of darts)...and this : "before the Wraith turn the Daedalus's advanced technology against the city."

- I would say that the Daedalus is sounding to be one HELL of a ship!!! Imagine an earth built ship that has enough technology to threaten Atlantis!!!!

Nobody has the episode until it airs. The spoiler pictures that are released early on, are done so by the shows publicity department only. I'm looking forward to watching this later on.

Especially when Shep & Hermy supposedly glare daggers at each other for some reason. Also how they manage to return to Atlantis from the SGC 7 what they bring back with them. Hopefully this is the episode where the 302's will make their grand appearance in Atlantis.
