First info on Atlantis' "Michael":
Click for Spoiler
Michael Kenmore, a young Lieutenant in his late 20s or early 30s, awakens in the Atlantis infirmary. He has an endearing, boyishly handsome way about him, but is also sometimes edgy and unpredictable. Michael has amnesia, and can remember nothing whatsoever about his past or his role on the base -- though Teyla reassures him that they are friends, and that he heroically allowed himself to be captured by the Wraith so that his team could get away.
Now he has been rescued from his captors. Drs. Beckett and Heightmeyer (Claire Rankin) work with him to redevelop his physical and mental state.
But Michael believes that the others are keeping secrets from him, and soon he learns the true nature of his existence: He was a Wraith. Dr. Beckett has developed a drug with a retrovirus that transforms the recipient, suppressing the iratus bug (the large insects encountered in "Thirty Eight Minutes") elements and leaving only the human aspects.
This is possible only because the Wraith evolved from the bug, which fed on humans and gradually incorporated human DNA into its own ("The Gift"). Daily injections are required to maintain the altered condition. The drug's creation has had some bumps along the way, though (likely referring to Sheppard's experience in the upcoming episode "Conversion").
Michael is shocked and disturbed, and objects to the team's notion that being a Wraith is some sort of disease that can be cured. Sheppard justifies the decision based on the fact that they are at war. Now that they have successfully tested the drug, their long-term goal is to be able to deploy it as a biological weapon and turn the inhabitants of entire Wraith hive ships into humans.
Ronon, meanwhile, makes an unsettling observation: Beckett's drug may be able to make a Wraith look like a human and talk like a human, but he'll still be a Wraith. Michael later confesses to Dr. Heightmeyer that while he still has no memory of being a Wraith, he is realizing that the urges and instincts are still very much a part of him.
This sounds really interesting and really disturbing.

Since it only surpress' the appearance of the Wraith, couldn't the Wraith themselves use this to infiltrate Atlantis?

I don't think that would be the case because first of all I think a Wraith would never agree to transform into a Human and having their memories erased in the process. Also, there is a chance the other Wraith would feed on the transformed Wraith once his mission was complete.

It seems to be far too early for them to be doing this. It's only mid-way through the second series, yet they have managed to develop a counter agent to the transformation process. I'd have personally perfer something like this be sent out in the 3rd or 4th series. Although since they are then it'll probably turn out to be a spectacular failure. Else there really wouldn't be any more Wraith, since they would mass produce it & use it on all the Wraith.
Although one good thing is that this is what they will probably use on Ford. I was worried that because of the eye thing that they would have perhaps killed him off or had him turned into a full wraith.

It screams TRETONIN to me!

This is disturbing. Of course, since it's only the second season, this drug cannot be safe and 100% effective. There has to be some major side effects that they have not experienced yet. The fact that he still feels the wraith tendencies is a huge side effect. I wonder if this is from the wraith enzyme that Ford is taking.

very... interesting....
making wraith look like humans could work against humans as per said, but does that mean they cant suck the life out of you?

I don't think so, I mean they wouldn't really be fully transformed into a human if they could still suck the life out of people.

The spoilers say that the vaccine suppresses the Wraith DNA, so I'm guesing that means if a Wraith is given the vaccine he no longer has the ability to drain the life from a human. The vaccine also causes amnesia so the "Wraith" wouldn't know that he/she wanted to feed.

Sounds like an interesting eposide. Turn waiths into humans, sounds like a future plot twist to me. Which is even better.

The Drug doesn't last forever though, what are they gonna do infect an entire hive ship, and then they have a bunch of humans with amnesia that they need to treat the drug to, this drug screams failure unless Dr. Beckett can make it permanent, and supress the Wraith urges.
Posted by: Lagger Aug 11th 2005, 11:40 PM
no they turn em all into humans, then beam em all off the ship, onto a planet with no stargate....and no equipment.... then nuke it......yes.....
or they further the drug, until they can "cure" the wraith.......
Posted by: OneLoneFan Aug 12th 2005, 8:02 AM
Here is what i see happening.
They use this bioweapon on the Wraith, reverting them into "humans" then beam them down to a dead planet that the Wraith had culled...On the planet's surface they have "treatment" centers set up and as the "humans" wake up with amnesia. Wier and the gang tell them that the Wraith used a new kind of weapon that would cull the cities faster but the weapon failed and left all the "humans" on that world sick with a form of radiation poisoning and that the weapon caused thier memories to be erased. Then Weir tells them that they need daily injections in order to keep the radiation at bay or they'll die. Thus we see the end of the Wraith....until season 4 or 5 when we find out that some of those people are starting to become immune to the drug and reverting to thier wraith form......but then again....i could be wrong....

There may be a hint of who has been cast as 'Michael'.
Supposedly 'Trip' told fans at the Star Trek Creation Convention in Las Vegas at the weekend that he has been cast in an upcoming Atlantis episode as a character named Michael.
Actor Connor Trinneer, aka Charles "Trip" Tucker from Star Trek: Enterprise.

Yes, I was at the convention and Connor Trinneer did confirm his role. It originally was to be a 2-3 episode recurring role for the remainder of the season, but due to the future birth of his baby boy, he would only commit to one episode. He is optimistic that his character will be reprised next season and is very excited about working on Atlantis.

OMG, this is so cool. I love "Trip", in fact he was the best part about Enterprise. I hope he does return to do more than one episode. And Em, we are so sharing him!

I just realized something. How come he is in uniform? SGA uniform.
Hot damn he sure is FREAKIN hot Indy!!!!
He is worthy of being loved and attacked by us the Archives Hit Squad. He would not last 10 seconds.

I Just realized the little scar on Teyla's arm in that one pic. Was it always there and I just missed it. [im looking at the 3rd pic in IndyJan's spoiler]
Posted by: Auntie Em! Oct 13th 2005, 10:11 PM
It might be a bruise. However it maybe something else. You would be to young Ha'tak. I have one like that. We get it from being immunized against small pox. It leaves a big ass scar like that. But it could just be a bruise but it is in the right spot for small pox vaccine also.

Posted by: Auntie Em! Dec 30th 2005, 1:15 PM
I will go look Dr Lee.
No they have 216 as being "The Long Goodbye"
217 "Coup....whatevery"
218 "Micheal" which is how it has always been every where on the net until lately where they have them in reverse order.
Posted by: Auntie Em! Jan 2nd 2006, 9:27 PM
I just watched 216 and it is definitely "The Long Goodbye". So Gateworld and everywhere else has it wrong but Arcady.

It screams TRETONIN to me! :(
It is much more silly. Tretonin is meant to save Jaffa, not the Goa'uld. Why would they save the Wraith's lives. If and when they have a way of deploying a drug to all Wraith on a ship, why use that instable drug instead of nerve gas.
Sure the Wraith will simply join forces... as soon as they're converted, they'll realize the error of their ways. Duh.
Didn't like the Sheppard conversion episode either.
