Fallen - Part 1
When SG-1 arrives on a planet (while tracking down evidence of the Ancients) they are in for a surprise: instead, they find Daniel there. Daniel has no memory of how he got there, or who he is. And the natives know little else about Daniel except they found without any clothes on.
The Tok'ra once again want to enlist the Tauri's aid in battling the Gou-ald, which ends up with Jonas and Daniel (with some memory back?) going undercover on a Gou'ald ship. Somehow, Teal'c becomes Yu's prisoner.
#thanks to 'ferret' for the tip

It will be interesting to see if Daniel and Jonas getting along. Teal'c as Yu prisioner...I bet he wants an alliance with the Tau'ri and the asgard.
Didn't we do the whole Yu has Teal'c prisoner thing?
I can see Yu using Teal'c as blackmail in order to get help from us or the asguard.

sorry... it's on tv and i just realised why Yu likes us, Jack stopped him getting shot by Neirti. Thats the first time we see him, i think he likes us really
cause daniel says he was involved with some positive stuff, maybe a not so evil shakehead?
He's also the only one of the 3 in the treaty thats not dead.
I think Yu's a decent guy too, in the episode "The Warrior" He lets Teal'c out of his mothership with intel about Imhotep so that he can not only save SG1 but the Jaffa rebellion as well. and in Full Circle he shows up with other System lords to save Abydos - although he was really more concerned about anubis becomeing all powerful, the point is that he took Daniel's advice about the situation.
I think you guys are missing one thing, Yu Never posed as a god...
He was China's first Emperor......... never did he masqurade as a "deity"
So I wouldn't hold Yu on the same level as the rest of the system lords.!
He may be ruthless.. But hell, you would have to be decently ruthless to rule the galaxy.
Plus ...... Hez a Gou'auld
Actually I made a whole post about Yu's historic role earlier (I happen to be Chinese) it can be found http://www.sg1archive.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f;=16&t;=612&hl;=yu%20was&st;=0
And BTW - he wasn't the first emporer. Qin Shi Huang was. He was the first king to establish a hereditary dyansty in china.
BTW - this is what I wrote in my other post:
In chinese History, Yu was the stooper of floods.
His dedication was to his people, whom he placed above both himself and his family.
During a period of flooding, he worked endlessly for 13 years and walked by his own citystate three times without entering his home, each time detured by work.
He maintained an open door policy and, being of humble origens, listened to the complaints of his people - which was new considering that this was thousands of years ago. (We're talking around 2100 BC)
His only major fault was an obsession with punctuality. (Which could be explained if here Gou'ald right?)
That said, I think we now know why Yu is portrayed the way he is, assuming of course that the writers know anything about Chinese history.... which I'm asuming they don't since they gave guy a 'modified' qing dynasty (approx. 1800 AD) haircut.)
lol
oh man, this is SO unfair...I wanna see this episode!
AARRGGHHH....I gotta wait 'till JUNE?????
damn
Perhaps he is a kind of semi-Tok'ra. Either way it's pretty clear he will end up fighting on our side against Anubis, I think there will end up being a massive space battle between the Tau're, the Asguard and Yu on one side and Anubis and perhaps other conquered Goa'uld on the other.
I don't think we will turn on Yu at the end but I'm not so sure about him. Once Anubis is out of the way he will see us as a threat and in typical snakehead mannor, may try to conquer us. Or maybe not - maybe he will forge a permanant alliance with us, but I doubt it as he is still a Goa'uld after all.
daniel and jonas shod be hilarious
someone really needs to teach that boy a lesson! er bt i fink sam will go skitta at daniel! he neva went to see her! well the ova two were in life death situations i suppose bt still she was the most when he died!
well i just cant wait shod be well good!
Perhaps he didn't visit he because he didn't want her to know he was around, I mean, the amout of times she gets herself on life support one way or another - he can't stop workin every 5 mins to come and see her.
Can you imagine Jack locked in a room with Daniel, Jonas, and Sam? The three of them will be conversing on some higher intellectual plane while he's just trying to get them to shut up and play cards or something....
I suppose that Daniel could have come seen Sam in his ascended form, but I don't think she was really really tested in the way that Jack was in Abyss and Teal'C was in the Changeling. I mean these guys really put up with something that nobody should have gone through. I'm sure that if Sam Carter had been in a similar life- threatening and will- losing position, Daniel would have def been there for her. ![]()
But it won't matter if she was still pissed at him in S7 coz he won't remember being ascended and all!
Maybe Yu will "rebel" as the original Goa'uld did thus becoming Tok'ra (against Ra). So we know that somer Goa'ul;d have a conscious, and maybe with the Tok'ra's numbers so low after the attack on their base, Yu will turn and take his followers to increase the Tok'ra's numbers and help fight Anubis.
It is possible that he has been waiting for the right time before making his move to avoid defeat. With so many system lords destroyed in Full Circle, maybe this is the right time.
thats also proberly why Yu, is so hard to defeate. An "free" soldier fights harder than a "forced" soldier!! i have always thought that we and yu will get a "Temperary Truch". i think YU will do some think compleatly unexpectet (positivt charged), maby he will sacrifice him self or something? But the tauri souldent trust him still.
i think jone should still in team ...
Wasnt Yu killed in Full Circle, it sort of implied that to me, so I dont understant that whole how they live when they get blown up, same with Apophis and a lot of others. But hey you never know, maybe Ra will come back, wouldnt that be interesting
Ra back...dont think that would happen, but I hope they keep Jonus around as I think he is a good fella, and shouldnt have to forfit his place in the team just becuase DJ turns back up. Why do so many of you hate Jonus? Jonus and DJ playing off one another would be good to see. 5 members of the team I say, or maybe a rotating team. Different one for each situation.
Jonas and Daniel will be friends.
In "Meridian", where Jonas debuts, Jack was talking about how Daniel and Jonas were in Nerd Heaven. I thought it was funny. I'm more of a Jack O'Neill rather than a Daniel Jackson if you know what I mean.
A bunch of motherships blew up but Yu retreated.
Ra will not come back , but that would be interesting. Yu did retreat at the end of Full Circle. He was SCARED!!!
I really like Daniel, but I also like Jack. He is soooo funny. Jonas really wanted to fit in and I think he did in his own way, But it will never take the place of the relationship that Jack and Danial had. great on screen chemistry.
I really hope this is not the last seaons of SG-1. One more would be nice..
I wonder what will happen in the first ep, yes Daniel with no memory and all, what will Jack say?
I've had a odd feeling about Yu(that sounds so corny!
) but to me he's either
1) An undecover tok'ra i.e a longterm sleeper
2) A Goa'uld who has strong reservations about being a typical Goa'uld
and we have been told don't forget that "very few Goa'uld came over to the tok'ra's side" when the whole tok'ra vs Goa'uld tat kicked off.... maybe we have another candidate?
that lift scene with Jack/Daniel in Full Circle was a classic
FYI
When Daniel looses his memory after descending paralells with another show...Angel when Cordy ascended as a higher being then descended and had no idea who she was...
anywho thats my penny and a half
Jason <Thor's Brother>
Well it should be interesting at the least.
Is Michael going to be totally NUDE? poor guy.
I'm sure he won't mind... I get the feeling he knows he's "all that"
Well about Yu
Even USA and Sovjet did ally againt a serius therth in WWII, I really can see Yu and the Tauri-rebel jaffa-Tok'ra-Asgard allience (kinda at least) do the same against Anubis, but then of course efter Anubis they will be on each others throths again and the risk for fresherys (spelling...) seems quite high
Then of course it's possible that peace, love & understanding comes after Anubis
About Daniel: My guess is that he will ratain most of his pre-accention memorys quite fast
About Teal'c being prisioner: Intresting twist, I guess we'' get to know much more about the Yu's (and maybe the other SL too?) plans. It could just be some way to get some kind of treaty agains Anubis, but on the other hand maybe he thinks, as we tauri, that the special mineral on Jonas' planet is the key to effective wepons, and of ocurse if he would get hold of it I really can't se why he would turn the gun over against earth after Anubis
Anubis will be hard to defant thou...
Teal'c has been Yu's prisoner before, he let him go with vital infomation
I don't think Yu is going to be "nice" to Teal'c.
I think he helped the good guys (earth, tok'ra) in the past because he saw that they could make a bit of trouble for Anubis. I also think the main reason he opposes Anubis is some really old grudge, or something Anubis did to tick Yu off, or something like that.
Anyway, can they come up with some original, (non-deity) Gou'auld names? Same with the Asgard too......Oh well, as long as they get to shoot some Jaffa (Red balls with chocolate insides, where did that name come from?)

I thought Yu died when Sarah/Osiris killed him "Last Stand", when did he get revived? I know he was a system lord but that seemed to be left out ![]()
Joe Stein
neva once have i heard Yu say he is a god..
and yeh he seems to like the ppl from earth he didn't kill teal'c the first time, jack saved him once...
and he took daniels advice and came to help them take out anubis when he was going to attack abydous.. so. mayb he is good. hey? well not bad neway... he will want to be friends with the asguard and humans..and remember Yu said i now command the collective forces of them system lords. aka all of them? anubis took out 12 mother ships i think. maybe 9... but still that was alot. that would leave wat 15 there? i think? maybe less!!! i reckon they will offer a short allience to earth to take out anubis... y not!
hey, and don't forget that it was Yu who attacked Ba'al's fortress in "Abyss" (06x06) so Colonel O'Neill could escape.
#
O'Neill: "Lucy, I'm home!"
Teal'C: "My name is not Lucy."
O'Neill: "Ok, now let me out."
Teal'C: "You just called me Lucy, i don't think you are well."
greetings from austria!
You all should read my post about the connection between ghould and ancients. added something about Yu to it at the end, even though that might throw it off topic, but o-well.http://www.sg1archive.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f;=2&t;=2157
In any case, the main reason I post,is to bring something up. I agree that Ra will most likely not be back. But just a few things to note:
Ra left Abydos alone, until we came. They feared him, yes, he acted god-like yes, but was he all that bad, did he even use jaffa?
Now with that said, I realize the idea of jaffa may have come after the movie. But the fact remains, Abydos was not Ra's home planet. Where in the hell is Ra's army? What minor ghoulds worked for Ra? If the Tok'Ra, are Tok'Ra, Ra had to be imensely powerfull, don't you think? Perhaps Anubis and all his greatness was stolen from Ra?
In any case, I don't think this belongs in this topic, because even if some ofmy questions are answered in season 7, they most likely won't be in ep 701.
Am I missing something here?
1) Just when did Sam ever appear angry that Daniel didn't appear personally to her? (I did kind of wonder why he didn't say goodbye personally to each team member just before he ascended, but it made sense that he would pick his oldest friend, Jack). And I think she appeared to be the most upset because a) Teal'c rarely shows emotion
Jack got to say goodbye c) Sam and Daniel had such an intellectual connection.
2) Why would Sam be mad this season (7) anyway? Didn't Daniel appear to the WHOLE team and some people from Abydos in "Full Circle"? I have only watched it once, so maybe I missed something. Was he only visible to Jack?
3) Surely "Fallen" is an allusion to Daniel being a fallen "angel" # so it makes sense that he will appear naked and without memory on some alien planet. He must have really ticked off the "Ancient Ones" with all those antics in "Full Circle". And didn't Jack hint after Daniel disappeared that "I don't think we can rely on Daniel for help anymore"? I will be interested to see what they do with this plot line. I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do as an "angel" or whatever he was. I hope he'll be allowed to ascend again. It made so much sense for him (even though it was awful to "lose" him).
4) Why wouldn't Daniel and Jonas be friends # they would make natural allies. I wish everyone would stop ragging on Jonas # it's always tough to be the new guy and he certainly gives it his all. If Sam and Jack and Teal'c can accept him, so should we.
Favorite Teal'c line: "Indeed."
i agree totally. even though he did happen to take daniels place when daniel ascended, it doesn't mean he's a bad guy. everyone forgets what abilities he brings to the table. he has an incredible memory and is slightly more evolved than we are. that could mean that decoding languages could take half the time with both him and daniel working on it simultaniously. i think he should stay on the team.
I tried to read all the posts about YU, I hope noone mentioned it before but I believe since he's chinese, he may use some strong ancient chinese medicine to keep young and not use a sarcophogus like all the rest of the goa'uld... It was explained and shown in "Need" with Daniel, that continuous use of the sarcophogus leads to an 'evil' mannor that all the goa'uld share.
Maybe Yu is the way he is cause he doesn't use the sarcophogus but uses ancient chinese medicine? The medicine coupled with the fact that he's a goa'uld could have the same effect? (without the side effect of 'evilness'?? lol)

Ancient Chinese secret, eh? LOL |
Here's a question, maybe a little of topic but...
Look at 'The Fifth Race' episode and then 'The Serpents Lair' and notice that the design (that blue-white kind of mix) is the same. Maybe they stole some early Ancient techs (explains Ra's tablet of the lost city of the acients) so wouldn't that mean that the Ancients would have been evil too (sarcopagus)?
and the Asguard isn't officially in the alliance & has NEVER helped us in battle (they took info from Jack - 'The Fifth Race' & transported Jack & Teal'c from the sub in 'Small Victories'). But what have we done, saved them from the replicators, saved their research into their genetic failure, saved Thor from Anubis' ship (twice - One pysicall, one after Thor went to Earth as he 'was the ship') and saved the entire universe from the replicators. The asguard have recently gave us new weapons and shields which by the way are useless against Anubis. Oh and doesn't that mean that the Asguard violated the protected planets treaty - declaring all members void. The Asguard should start bringing in ships to help - the threat from the replicators has gone (at least for a few thousand years).

here are the pictures that Nicci sent to me, I hope she will forgive me for that.

I was under the assumption that Yu attacked Anubis, not to help Abydos, but to stop Anubis from gaining such an incredible advantage that the Eye Of Ra would give him (and did give him). Also, i don't think that Yu and the Tok'ra are already allies (I think someone called him a sleeper agent or something) because in one Episode where Daniel went undercover as Yu's servant, it was the Tok'ras plan to kill all of the System Lords at the Summit, including Yu.
However, under extreme conditions, such as it is now, i can see where Yu would want to form an Alliance with anyone who would consider themself an enemy of Anubis, (Us, Asguard, Tok'ra, etc.)
Does anybody believe Daniel will regain all the knowledge that he posessed when he ascended. Anubis descended (well partially anyway) as well and he regained or retained all his knowledge. Something big is going to happen on that storyline thats for sure!
He has to get all of the memories back. I think it will it happen in the episode where different personalities take over his body.
i think will get his memory back,(please don't be a clipshow,please)
i think Yu is a good goa'uld

| I actually have a spoiler from a http://www.visimag.com/culttimes/c93_feat01.htm It does contain spoilers so read at your own risk! Join us as we take our regular look at what?s coming up next; this year, man of many talents Peter DeLuise tells us about naked archaeologists and why there?s more to the Asgard than anal probing Creative consultant, producer and general fount of knowledge for all things pertaining to Stargate SG-1, Peter DeLuise is all fired up and raring to leap into action at the start of the seventh year of the show. A firm favourite with cast and crew alike, DeLuise is big, bold and prone to bursts of extravagance with regard to ?his? episodes on Stargate SG-1. Whether writing or directing, this highly exuberant individual is guaranteed to stir things up at the SGC. Pinned down for a short time, he?s happy and eager to share a few teasers about the forthcoming year. ?At the beginning of Season Seven we have a two-parter, which helps us understand how Dr Jackson [Michael Shanks] has come back from being ?ascended?. The first part is entitled Fallen,? begins DeLuise. ?This is an interesting episode because when we find Dr Jackson he has no clothes on.? Okey dokey ? so this episode is a must for Danielites. ?Yeah!? agrees DeLuise. ?Daniel is totally starkers. He?s got the full monty going.? Aside from a naked archaeologist, the episode does have a few other points that may be of interest to Stargate fans in general. ?Basically, Fallen is about how Anubis [David Palffy] is about to take over the galaxy, and we have to stop him because he is able to wipe out whole planets with his primary death ray. It?s the one that wiped out Abydos at the end of Season Six,? DeLuise helpfully supplies. ?Now we?re having to stop Anubis from carrying on in this fashion because there is nothing standing between him and his ability to wipe out all of Earth. So that?s the first order of business.? As if that wasn?t a tall enough order, DeLuise explains that there is yet another problem for SGC. ?By taking Jonas prisoner, Anubis is able to use his memory device on him and figure out everything that Jonas knows, which turns out to kick us in the ass all season long. But then, we?ve had six seasons of kicking everybody else?s ass, so it?s only fair, right? So we get a bit of a return ass kicking.? Oo-er! This doesn?t sound much fun for SG-1, but isn?t it nice to watch a show where the bad guys get to have a good time sometimes? Away from the subject of aggression but remaining vaguely below the belt, DeLuise lets us know that there are a fair number of new arrivals. ?Fragile Balance is an episode that has been a long time in the making and has to do with Asgard reproduction, Asgard abduction and there?s a really fun element of a play with the character of Colonel O?Neill [Richard Dean Anderson].? Showing my ignorance I suggest that I didn?t think the Asgard could have sex. There doesn?t seem to be anywhere where it could happen. Fortunately, Mr DeLuise has all the answers. ?Well they reproduce themselves by cloning themselves and then downloading their consciousness into the next incarnation. But years and years of cloning themselves has led to limited returns. They?re physically quite frail and are in need of some sort of genetic infusion somehow. That?s why they?ve been abducting us.? by Thomasina Gibson |

As I already posted in the discussion boards about the episodes, I was thoroughly upset with the episodes. There was a lot of dead space between lines, very bad on screen chemistry, the episodes were very predicatble. they were drawn out, they could have been combined into one episode. Yu is getting way too old, a new regime will begin with anubis at the head...because we were too dumb to see his escape pod (we ALWAYS see the escape pod jettissen from a blown up mother ship)...and anubis has the naquadria too. if the nequadria was on his ship, the ships explosion would have been 1000 fold and colona would be gone.
thank god i have all the episodes on my computer so that i can watch some good ones, because i was throughly dissapointed in tonights shows.
i am extremely pissed off that jonas has to leave, if the producers know whats best for them they will bring him back to the SGC and put him on SG1 (yes a 5 man team!) after the peace talks are over on his planet. but if they pull another "Daniels grandpa" move, and he dissapears forever as our "delegate" to another world to collect information...i will be extremely pissed off.
also, stargate was always an original series with its own creative ideas. it only borrowed one liners from earth movies and tv shows (wizard of oz and simpsons) to bring some humour and fun to our contacts with other worlds who have no knowledge about these shows and movies.
i was very dissapointed to see that the creative well had run out and they had to borrow scenes and plot lines from other scifi thrillers. and i wasn't thinking too deep into it, the similarity immediatley popped in my head during the briefing, the flight down the gulleys of anubis's ship, the autodefense canons firing upon it, and the missles going down the shaft to the energy core.
my friend immediatley thought of independence day when anubis's ship broke through the clouds over calona.
it was our first thought, not our last. shame on stargate producers for stealing scenes.

First of all, I thought of "Independence Day" last season when Anubis' ship was first shown and especially when he "fired up his primary death ray" and blew up Abydos.
Secondly, I love Stargate so even though these episodes were a bit disappointing, I still enjoyed them. No, not as much as traditional season episodes, but all the same.
The third point being that this was not a traditional season episode and it became apparant very early on that there was A LOT of storyline to cover in these two hours. Since last season's finale was written as a possible series finale, the writers and producers had to cover a lot of ground to set the stage for the entire season. Obviously this meant that "Fallen" and "Homecoming" may have been "rushed" a bit in material content, but I would rather the writers "rush" two episodes and give us a whole season of the Stargate we know and love than to spend half of the season establishing what they did tonight in two episodes.
All that said, the rest of the season better be good. (Oh, and as for the Lowdown, I want a belly button ring too!)

I liked both episodes and I think you guys are never satisfied by what you get! ![]()
We've all waited a long time for the new season to start and as usual there are always some people who just think that their version of "what they think should happen- and in what way" is so much better than the writers version.... And you have a right to be like that, everyone has their opinion.
But it doesn't mean that I necessarily agree with the way you guys have just blatantly put this season premiere down. I liked the battle scene in space and I think that for a whole load of stuff that had to happen in this double ep - I expected there not to be a whole lot of on screen chemistry between the characters. What did you want them to do? Cry about the fact that Anubis was being wonderfully evil? (He does rock as a bad guy though - rudeboy!)
I will say one thing though, at least Drumchick and "Jonas- fans" feel a bit better- seeing Jonas leave - but to tell you the truth I was sad to see the guy go! But to sum it up- welcome back MS - good to see your ass. I mean your fine- self back!
Whoa I was expecting so much more
but they were still good...if alittle predictable. I think that the writers were just trying to set things up for this season. I'm sure that the other eps will be much better. After all, not all of the previous season finales/openings are terrific. Its usually the later eps that are so great
Hmmmm.....hmmmmm.....hmmmmm?
Okay...it was obvious they wanted to get this thing off and running, and by what better way than to start with Jonas, well....running?
It seems like they tried to cram all the "character" stuff in the beginning to establish what Daniel did/did not know and how he made his decision to come back to earth, had a nice moment w/Sam about what kind of person he used to be and w/Teal'c about Sha're....what happened w/Jack though...not much there...weird.
And then it was off to the races to do all the Anubis Plot stuff. Also, does anyone remember there ever being a precedent for Yu starting to go senile, or was this the first time we saw this element introduced? I think the one problem I had with the story structure was that since there were so many elements invloved it was neccessary to split SG1 into 3 different groups to achieve all their objectives...well, okay technically Teal'c isn't a group...he's an army of one
SG1's strengths have, for me, been when they work together as a team to overcome obstacles. Splitting them up covers a lot of ground plot wise, but it doesn't make for as strong character dynamics. Maybe they wanted to show everyone on their own contributing to the cause using their unique talents? If so mission accomplished.
I guess I'm just looking forward to some action w/them working together as a unit again. But I'm still glad I got to see this one....
You know, I must say that the scene in the end where SG-1 got in the fight with Anubis' Jaffa just as the system lords began thier attack on his ship was pretty fun.
I like to see them be in a physical fight and not just shooting from a distance or on the run. Tossing weapons to each other, etc. and when AT ran and tackled Anubis' first prime as he was trying to leave through the gate it was cool.
It was something not typical for her character.
dammit i missed it did he take the crystal through the gate or did sam have it "i curse my broken vcr" please let me know

I agree. And The Gatatran is right too: ideas are just that...ideas. They aren't copyrighted. (But with LucasArts, who knows? I wonder if he watched it?) But, to make it a crutch for the plot (like chi-town said) the cannons, the missles, the explosion, the dialogue....that's shows me that they are just sitting in their offices watching Episode IV going, "Hey, what if..." and not even trying to do something different. And if this was a tribute to Star Wars (which is such a slim possiblity), it never showed. "Homecoming" was a better ep, but not as good as a "standard" Stargate ep. Rocks out. |
Well one must remember that Star Wars and ID4 borrowed a lot themselves both visually and thematically. So i have to believe they were paying homage to it. Or maybe a slight on Lucas to using the Star Wars sequences instead of the other new movies.
And to Sam's sister's comment I think 2001:A Space Odyssey was more important in establishing scifi as serious film genre than star wars.
I think they really rushed the integration of Daniel back into the team. I hope they do reestablish the issue of Daniel's memory loss, show him struggling with certains things would be good. I have to believe they will do that to make the character interesting for Michael Shanks to want to come back.
My favorite quote from the two episodes was "Everyone turn around... I want no witnesses" The look on Daniel's face was hilarious how he had no idea what was going on but it was just like old times for O'neill.
i really do feel the majority of you are critisising it far too much, i thought both episodes were cool, not the best at all, but not the worse. I agree the space battle did seem as if it were from Star Wars but sooooo ??? who really cares. I prefer to see space battles, with the mother ships and sh*t, i think thats the best part for me anyway, i think that all you people who critisise it were expecting too much, overall the aspect of Star Wars- i dont think that was bad at all, i wasnt thinking o its off star wars thats terrible, i was just deeply into the episode and didnt think of it for another second. The fact that some of you are saying it isnt good he remmebered everything so fast or most things, well yes i do agree with that, but theres so much more he will remember in the upcoming episodes such as about the ancients ,being an ascended and the lost city of atlantis, a season to look forward too. Anyway thats my views, you probably dont agree or like em but just thought id speak what i was feeling
P:s For those who wanna download it, its avilable on Bit Torrent, download Bit Torrent first search Download Bit Torrent on google, and go to www.suprnova.org. its 800oddmb for both episodes, good quality too . this applies especially to Europe viewers as im from UK meself
chris
I getting the feeling like u ppl think i didnt like the episode because of the rips but i did like them very much. i did expect more from them because i find that in my experience stargate has many originalish ideas and thats what makes it great. So when they riped a whole part in the plot i was dissappointed in the lack of creativity. Esp since these were the first two epis for the new season.

so what happened to the asgard in this ep? Do I have to pull out my season 6 eps and watch them again? Did I miss something?
Why trust Yu when we just helped the asgard (practically) freeze their enemy in time?
parts of this episode are obviously ripped off star wars, i hope season 7 doesnt become a rehash, the beginning of homecoming is a rip of independence day (may i say i am a very big stargate fan, not a little sh*t who thinks stargate is crap and comes on this website to whinge)
After reading through this post, and been a long time fan of SG1 (although I only now realized there was such a big fan community) i simply must express some opinions/ideas I have on Season 7.

Anywayz...
Here's my opinion on Lord Yu: (I hope I spelled that right...)
As Jack would put it, once a snake, always a snake. I very much doubt that a goua'uld (I hope I spelled that right too...) of any kind would defect to the Tok'ra under any duress. We've all seen how the goua'uld have a supreme arrogance about them, a limitless resolve, and an endless bag of tricks (ie the priest who thought she 'tamed' her symbiote, bomb in Cassandra, etc etc) and I think the only reason the Tok'ra exist even at all is that a time before the goua'uld became so very conceited and arrogant, maybe even a time where things were much more peaceful, the Tok'ra broke off. As has been said, the Tok'ra broke off millenia ago, and do not share the Goua'uld's arrogance and apathy for human life. Maybe the Tok'ra broke off at a time when they saw fellow goua'uld becoming increasingly evil...
Another theory I have is that the sarcoughagus is the whole reason the goua'uld are evil the way they are. I think that when the sarcoughagus was invented and before the tok'ra and goua'uld split, it was overused by some of these goua'uld, and overuse made them deranged and evil, when in fact, the rest of the goua'uld race may have been progressing toward a more peaceful path. One thing leads to another, and they ultimately split. But, that's just me.
Lord Yu is a rather old system lord, compared to his fellow system lords. Next to maybe Chronus, Ra, Annubis, and a few others, I think he is the oldest. This is because he is so old that not even the sarcoughagus (another spelling error lol) can fully restore him. Thus, he has the most experience ruling. I think he is the most skilled politician of the bunch. He sees many of the oppurtunities that us Earth people present him as adventageous to him and usually goes through with them, where most other System Lords would dismiss them out of arrogance. Lord Yu also, IMO, doesn't have any forces greater than his fellow System Lords. The fact he has survived so many battles can't be any indication. We've all seen how Apophis has cheated death, defeat, humiliation and other things only to come to raise a new fleet. What did it ultimately take? We had to crash a mothership into his home planet at full speed just to make sure he died. Not even a nova stopped him. So, Lord Yu was simply as lucky as most of the System Lords always are- they always slip out at the last second when their armies die, only to rebuild them. I think the only thing that would defeat such a system lord would be overwhelming force. Annubis exibits the classic snakey-head arrogance; dispatching minor lords to deal with him whom he either soundly defeats, sooner or later. IF Annubis brought the whole of his power against Lord Yu and only Lord Yu, I think he would defeat him, eventually.
Now, about Annubis...
Season 6 threw a few plot twists into the mix that could have dire consequences for Earth. Aside from his mastery of Ancients' technology, he has ascended ... like Daniel. Ascension makes you into an energy form, and among other things, these energy beings like Ulma, and the others ARE the Ancients. How do you kill an Ancient? Now, granted that Annubis isn't fully ascended, it still poses a problem. All other system lords, up until Annubis, were just goua'uld inside of humans, or unas, etc. The question I want to know is how do you kill Annubis, assuming you could board his ship and managed to get enough alone time with him? Daniel, at least from what I think, was prevented bu the other Ancients, most likely Ulma, from killing Annubis, since right after it happens, his first prime says, "You ARE all powerful!" and he replies with, "It was not of my doing." This explains why Daniel wakes up in the middle of a planet with the ruins of an Ancient city and his memory is erased. After all, Daniel talked about how ascending gives a person understanding of almost everything.
Annubis also has the potential to become the dominant system lord, since not only is he almost un-killable, his ships are nearly invincible. Unless some great powers intervene (cough) Asgard (cough), we are royally screwed.
I also hope the Tolan make an apperance in season 7. I miss those guys. Seeing as how they are not as all powerful in their isolation as they thought themselves to be, maybe they will help us in our fight against Annubis.
Plus, the lingering idea of all those Ancients Ulma is helping ascend makes me think that maybe, just maybe, that these ascended beings might battle Annubis.
Sorry its so long, but those were some ideas I had.

On the subject of how SG1 took ideas from Star Wars, and other such shows, here's what I have to say:
I got a real kick out of it. I thought it was hillarious. It was obvious that they were ripped ideas, and I think the whole purpose of adding them was to lighten the mood, and make a grave situation a little funny. If you'll notice, there are several references to other shows, for example, when Jack wants to name the X-303 the Enterprise, when the scientists who decide to save Jack and his team talk constantly about Star Trek, and other such references.
I honestly think it was all to put some humor into the show. I mean, how interesting can a space battle really be? At least this way, it was funner.
