(This topic is for people who have seen the episode to discuss it. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't read this topic.)
lantians, lantians, lantians, they said it half a dozen times so its not just a mistake when the wraith in "defiant one" called them lantians,
anyway, i found it very odd that an ancient went all the way to dagan to give them a zpm to hide in light of them about to pull out of peg for good(further proof imo that moros is still looking out for us without anyone paying attention cause shes suppose to be the good girl, afterall she did make the hologram for an abandoned city, ^^)
the military guys rep got a beating
poor kolya, he lives but fails yet again, now cowen gets to chew the man out again
poor sora, still a prisoner, i wonder if she's kept in steve's old cage
poor markham and smith, i dont think i've ever seen their faces
poor bates, a confused as ever sheperd wanna be
but great for the atlantis nerds
dr zelenka gets a lot more face time and discover another cool gadet(nice setup for season ender)
and mckay shows he has some balls, both in rebuking the rest of the team for joking around and when he steps up to kolya without flinching, i love the part when he looks at that guy with the gun tells him to give him his knife and snaps his fingers at him to hurry up, lol
too bad they dont get to keep what they were looking for, i wonder why they didnt just tell them that the ancients are never coming back?
I liked this episode. McKay continues to be a great bumbling scientist, while Ford does his thing being unconscious, and Teyla works on her impression of Teal'c. ![]()
The only bad part was that the Genii angle was easy to pick up. "How long have you lived on Atlantis? I see..." Big giveaway - they are underestimating the intelligence of the viewers with that kind of stuff.
One thing I have to say about Atlantis in general, is that I am not really happy with whoever is doing the wardrobe. Why do the people on every planet look like they are wearing doorman outfits from 1918? Is it possible to get clothes that don't have a strip of some other color along the edges?
Darn ignorant natives. This was a horribly good episode in the amount of foreshadowing it offered. I can't wait for The Siege, but waiting a whole summer for seasons 2 and 9? Unbearable.
I don't think we'll see the genii for awhile now after looking at the rest of the season descriptions. I am glad they closed the genii story line (for-now) instead of leaving us wondering.
this episode was good but i have to ask, since when did McKay become an archaeological scientist?
This is the first time i've noticed it, and am not sure if anyone has ever brought this up but . Why are they using DELL laptops?. i mean, geeze. I'd figure a company like "alienware" or "go-l" would want their awesome laptops featured on a tv show like this, but DELL? It just doesn't fit. No wonder its taking them forever to figure out everything in atlantis, they're using cheap intel consumer products. i wouldn't be suprised if they were using win ME. i bet if they had 64 bit amd laptops they could double their performance capabilities and have all of atlantis's cool technology at their disposal to kick some serious wraith butt!.
Maybe Dell donated some computer equipment to have their products to be displayed on the show as cheesy product placement (Both SG-1 and SG-A)
Kolya has to be the dumbest villain ever. And I don't mean he shouldn't be on the show, just that it's almost comical how easily he and his well-trained men have been defeated twice now.
Dell is paying for those products to be used on both shows.
Good ep I thought. Makes you wonder what else they could have done. For example if they weren't escorted back to the gate, leave a person or two behind to see which planet they hide the zpm on etc. or go back a couple of hours later and hopefully they hadn't moved it yet, and observe from the brush.... (Assuming the town was a distance from the gate, out of sight and ear shot).
Does it also seem interesting how every single planet with population (that aren't wraith) they've made enemies of, while sg-1 is almost the opposite? (usually anyway) just interesting....
Guess SG1 have been more helpful and less egotistical in thinking how they can help them. The SGA teams almost always think of their needs first?Witch is OK! Since the city is in great danger. But I think they gave up to easily on the ZPM in this ep.
Soooooo disappointed when they lost the ZPM but then again i was expecting it the whole time since it would make things far 2 easy. Nevertheless it was a pretty good episode....
so anxious to see the next ep.....just hope its not another hoax like episode 9 - Home and they actually do get a message back home
*sigh* So obvious, one girl is a Genii spy, another has her own agenda... I would have expected a little sophistication and having the main of the order girl to be the Genii spy... meh. But it was amusing. Sheppard is getting more and more tolerable - well, as long as he's bantering with McKay, anyhow. Are they starting to see Teyla is a useless character themselves? She hasn't said more than 3 words in a row in ages! All for the better, IMHO...
Cept for the implication for the ending sequence of the season it was a filler-up episode, but if Atlantis keep their filler-ups in that level they're going the right way ![]()
BTW - where is Zelenca supposed to be from? For some reason I remember he isn't a Russian...
he's czech...cant blame ya for thinking he's either russian, i would have thought german...no idea why though....
i thought that the bit where mckay says goodnight to his team and they're all going she likes you and he's like..what? was so funny.
And just when you think McKay is getting lucky, she backstabs him... You almost could feel the pain, when she takes the ZPM away
.
Well, interessting episode....and did you known that dr. Zelinka sayd when they found those long reach sensors: "Jezisi, ja s tyma hercama nemozu delat!" it means in english "Jesus, i can't work with these actors! " ....There are some fans in central Europe(Slovakia & Czech republic) too.
It aways happens that way, just when they got something they need it gets snatched away....
And maybe they should give more people the gene and train more piolts, just a thought.
Good ep, SGA is shaping up to be a great serries.
Decent episode.
Having the same Vancouver setting is starting to annoy me.
I have to wonder if they left the backlot to film it because some of the open areas looked eerily familiar to the exact same open area used in 1x06 'Childhood's End'.
But it's sort of an inside joke that the creators of both SG-1 and now Atlantis use all of about a half-dozen spots to do all their filming.
There are only two real problems I've ever had with Stargate in general. One was their writer's inability to write themselves out a hole, choosing instead to pull a rabbit out of their hats, and my inability to become immersed into the show when they are filming shots out of studio.
The only time I am able to immerse myself into the show is when they are on set, and not outdoors. To this end I hope the creators try to spend more time in the studio than out on one of the lots trying to film outdoor scenes in yet another mountainous region of scenic British Columbia where it always looks like it's either raining, about to rain, or had just rained.
As for the episode itself, the moment McKay mentioned they had only found Atlantis and left it at that I knew something was up. He should have added that the ancients left Atlantis for his world, and that they were the first to return. This way he could have made her realize that they were the natural successors to the ancients. I suspected that Allina would question the right of McKay and the team to take the ZPM if they gave her the impression they were not actually the ancients. I also think McKay should have told Allina that the ancients are never going to return. They're all dead, mostly at the hands of the wraiths who also killed off the members of the order. He might also have tested how strong her fealings were by refusing to hand it over? Shep' might have been able to threaten to destroy the ZPM rather than hand it back over like Jack did with the Eye of Ra from 6x21.
Knowing that they do eventually get their hands on one later is the only thing that keeps me from throwing something at the screen and yelling "YOU NEED THAT THING TO SURVIVE!"
I wonder if the dart's appearance was due to the knowledge the wraiths had from the previous epsiode 1x15, that there was a city of the ancients last seen on that particular planet?
What's more, they never did explain why the wraiths didn't locate the city while it was underwater since they had to be curious why so many ancient vessals were traveling to that very same planet?
Oh well.
I really liked this episode and I felt that it got progressively better. Not without it's flaws though. For me it just wasn't that believable that the military would only have one man (Lieutenant Ford) guarding the entrance hole to what could be for them a discovery of astronomical importance. Especially when every other person was underground; It was obvious to be how bad this would be strategically if anything was to happen to Ford and a millitary would never take unnecessary risks.
However all in all a very entertaining episode.
i think that when dr. zelinka says "who is going to fly the 3rd jumper" they should have left the scene with him for a couple of seconds longer before having carson.
i agree, it seems that Teyla didn't get a real sentence in...she had a maximum of 4 words said at one time otherwise it was just 2 words.
Ford got a bit of action this episode and i was glad to see Mckay getting some guts and he really showed himself in this episode.
I liked the funny bit where Dr. Zelinka says it Czech - I can't work with these actors.
I cant believe they gave up a ZPM just like that. They should try and swap it for one of the flat ZPM's or sneak back to the planet and steal it 'covertly' before they find a new hiding place for it
Back to the computer thing, having worked this past summer with the Air Force Research Lab, I can tell you that they mostly use DELL computers, we had some nice dual Xeon workstations in the lab, but anyway, DELL is what the AFRL mostly used. Out of convience or whatever, the Air Force uses Dell laptops.
This episode was kinda interesting, you get kinda confused between "It's Good To Be King" and "The Brotherhood", when you download them one after another and watch one after another.
The Genii are getting tiresome, they are so freakin' annoying and stupid. They can't eliminate the Wraith themselves so they stop others like the (let's call them) Atlantis Team 1 from doing so. The girl the new master hand-keep or whatever she's called, she is such a b*tch, believing the Ancients will return, and stupid McKay was telling her that they live there but are not the descendants of the Ancients, idiot!
Like all Ancient Tech, how come when they put it on the screen, it's always so unclear.
'im a doctor not a fighter pilot' Funny line
good ep. atlantis is great as always
the Genii really need to get themselves lives...i mean really...do they only ever think about one thing? at least they're dedicated.
gotta agree, the filler scenes were fantastic.
The genni are i guess like the atlantis team, but cause we like the atlantians, we dont see it. Both seem to think they know best and that they're way is right and will work. Does anyone else believe that there may be more ZPM's in the wall? i mean there were quite a few more circles. Mayhap the other 3 combinations of the 15 code opens them? Hmm, also how come all these races have the same word's for the same things we do? Even though they've evolved on a different planet? Eg in Sanctuary, Why they called abbots? Isn't that a word created by the catholic church?
i don't think so...as we only heard about them receving one ZPM.
and i think that if there had been more ZPMs then they would have known about it.
but what im wondering is why did an ancient give them a ZPM in the first place?
This episode amuses me. Not only that there are alot of suspense, they find out that 3 Wraith Hive ships are heading their way. This just gives more suspense..
I think the Ancient gave them a ZPM because (best guess) they knew one day their civilisation would fall, so they want to make sure that they(whoever finds Atlantis) would be able to find more of the power source it uses. Or it could just be since the people on Dagan worship them they gave them that..
Do those Genii ever give up. With that loss of over 60 you think they would have gave up. Afterall, this is all McKay's fault why they lost the ZPM. Good luck beating the wraith now....
I don't get why the Ancients didn't leave the ZPM's in Atantis. Would that be so dangerous?
i hope that we get to see Kolya in an upcoming episode, i am really starting to enjoy him.
KOLYA...i love the name...hehe.
Does anyone else get the feeling that they may actually become friends in the future? there is already history between him and Mckay...they just loved being back together with each other.
I wonder if we'll ever get to see Soren again?
Man they could have used that ZPM!
Hope the wraith have crappy aim! LOL
A very good EP. It reminded me of the good old SG-1 days where they would go to a planet and explore and solve puzzles.
Hope there are more like this to come!![]()
Good eps......... but will they ever find a ZPM
why not get some more N-genarators from stargate command
Koki...I think you need to watch Atlantis more closely.
they have Naqueda generators.
They are mentioned in the first episodes as well as Letters From Pegasus.
what kind of weapons do the new brotherhood have ?? it looks like genii weapons ?? and yet the new brotherhood peep is still in the renasiance... so how do they explain it ???
and the body count till now is 12 right ??
All in all, not a bad episode!
I am getting thoroughly annoyed with the Genii - they keep popping up, causing minor glitches, then getting defeated...I just...don't like...them...
and GRR
at us losing a perfectly good ZPM! I was sure that they were going to get it back to Atlantis!
Not a bad episode. I don't mind the Genii as an enemy. There more of hinderence than an actual threat, but it is amusing to watch Shepard constantly get the better of them.
Some things were a little to predictable. As soon as Mckay said they weren't from Atlantis, I knew they were going to be betrayed and not get the ZPM. And as soon as they detected the single Wraith dart, it was obvious, it was just going to gather intel, relay it, and then get destroyed.
If only Mckay hadn't opened his big mouth LOL, and those pesky Genii keep popping up causing problems.
Was funny seeing Beckett fly one of the jumpers!
Well that sucked! They should have gne back and nicked it...
This is one of the few Atlantis eps I haven't really liked. It was too much like Underground...for starters, I hate that evil guy that Sheppard shot last time, and he just basically came back and did the same thing. That whole race of people were just annoying (though I liked the scene at the beginning and the ruins the city was in) and it just felt...meh. It wasn't really bad, I was just a bit disappointed.
And yeah, they should have just gone back and nicked it. Nice set up for the Wraith coming as well- I think it should have been more about that.
liked the systematic "have a problem, solve a problem" approach and the attraction between Rodney and the brotherhood chick to begin with.
The ending ruined the epp for me though, for god's sake when are they going to stop taunting us with ZPM chasing!!!? It was so frustrating I nearley screamed....
I enjoyed this episode though I hope that the Genaii aren't going to become the regular "bad guys"
I thought that the Wraith the baddies?!
I agree in that the team allowed the brotherhood to take the ZPM too easily, still the search continues and now with an added incentive/motivation
Yep this episode was finger licking goods but the ending was irritating!
The gaul of those primitives to hide the very thing that in the end may allow humanity to get rid of the Wraith menace in the Pegasus galaxy once and for all!
Well now that the Wraith are literally breathing down the neck of the Atlantis team they canty afford to be as diplomatic as before. Specially when facing supersitious idiots like those on that world! They will have to be ready to take the ZPMs by any means necesary and if that means by force so be it!
In the end that a few villagers loose their lives cannot be compared with the wholesale mass slaughter of a Wraith culling! I hate to be saying this but the fact is, they have run out of options!
Personally, I was dissapointed that they didn't get the ZPM...they earned the right to get it...the people there were such blockheads for denying it to them. Sheesh, it was right in Mckay's hands!! And the wraith dart coming in, that was bad business!
Hope they secure a ZPM sooooon!
Yeah this wasn't one of the best episodes. I did enjoy the whole Mensa discussion, though.
We still have a few more addresses to check, though, right? I guess a fully charged ZPM would have been too convenient, though.
We finally got some action at home from the Wraith dart. I thought that was cool. The Wraith deal is very, very nice plot twist.
And about the ZPM thing. If you looked on the wall where they pulled it out of, there were multiple holes. So, why didn't we do it again, and see if another one was in there?
i really love the Kolya person, he is so cool and i think he should be in future eps.
don't you agree that there is something about him and he is an amazing person?
he was fantastic in Profiler
Hi i missed the Stargate Atlantis episode Brotherhood and Letters From Pegasus can anyone email on supra_tnt_14@hotmail.com or tell me where i can download these episodes please i would really appreciate it.
rules are: do not ask where you can get something downloaded.
this subforum and these threads are to discuss the episodes.
Hot damn I loved this episode. I thought it was the best episode off all the first year. It had a great storyline and the acting was good. It was a team kinda show with all the main guys getting equal time. It had a desidedly Stargate SG1 approach and feel to it.
Very nice indeed.
Hey i was just glad to see Kolya again...he is so cute!
But it had moral issues which i liked to see and everyone's acting has improved a lot since the start...they are a team now and you can really see it
It sucks finally they manage to defeat again that Genii, and those primitive take away the ZPM poor Atlantis
they didnt really defeat the Genii, they just out-maneuvered them.
or i should say outwitted them.
But it's fair that the natives kept the ZPM they believe that they were meant to protect it and that is what they are doing.
As far as i noticed the ZPM was depleted anyway , it didnt glow , even if they are not plugged in they still glow.
When the Genii first appeared I said that they would make a good enemy for Atlantis. So far, I seem to have been proved correct. I don't want to have to watch every week the Wraith, kulling and sucking the life out of people. I want other enemies that they can face. The Genii are such an enemy. It would be an interesting journey to see them try and actually have an alliance between them.
im pissed, they didnt go back to the planet with reinforcements, as soon as it was all over, and take if from the brotherhood like candy from a baby....
This is not the first or the last time that SG-1 or Sheppard's team will be scewed over, the problem is that we don't do anything about it because we are too busy being "explorers". No wonder we make enemies at every turn, the privitive civilisations of the Pegasus galaxy dont want peace they want revenge for what has happened to them over the centuries. And because we (humans from Earth) have had it so easy they feel they can take their vengence out on us because they can't hope to hurt the Wraith. Still, good episode - why the hell is Markham dead! I tell thee they had better not kill off Stackhouse as well, I would'nt shead too many tears if Bates were to have a little accident and fall down a black hole!!!! heh heh heh!
7/10
Lol, when the "ancestors" come to reward the brotherhood, without that ZPM, Atlantis could be destroyed then. And i don't think the ancestors would be happy with that. And damn, i love when the Genii get owned.
I can't belive they dint get it and took the ZPM. also why dint they get reinforcments and come back thought and get the ZPM its not like the people on that planet need or can even use it.
I bet ya the Genii probably apprehended that new 'master handler' and took off with the ZPM.
Wouldn't be suprised if we come across this exact ZPM in a later episode in the hands of the Genii.
No, the Genii had nothing to do with the new brotherhood... We won't be able to see this exact ZPM in the future due to two reasons: 1. The Genii didn't take it, it went back into hidding;
There is the fact that by the time the woman took the ZPM, Kolya had been taken care of and couldn't do anything to get the ZPM. By the time he returned to the Genii homeworld and organised another raid to gain the ZPM, the new Brotherhood would have had time to hide it again.
Thats true...
but then there is two unanswered questions... the Genii were with her there when they took the ZPM off the Atlantis team... & who ordered those Genii there & what were their orders...?
Cowen was in command of the Genii, so it could have been him who gave the orders but Kolya also had a grudge against Atlantis after he failed in taking control of it permenantly in 'The Storm'/'The Eye'.
It has been said that the Genii have agents on many worlds so they most likely learned of the ZPM from them and they probably wanted it to blackmail Atlantis.
I am watching this ep right now, and I am working why Ford attacked when he did after they thought he was unconcious. he could have got a better advantage if he waited a few minutes.
I can't believe I watched this ep again. The people that took the ZPM are terribly dumb. If I hadn't seen the ep years ago, I would have never seem that coming.
