Plot Summary (for those who won't see it for a long time):
The episode has two main plots running simultaneously...
Firstly, there is the Daniel centred plotline where we learn that Osiris has accessed the memories of her host and discovered that Daniel once saw a tablet that revealed how to find the Lost City. At the time, he probably didn't have a clue what it was. She visits him while he is sleeping and uses a memory recall device on him, influencing him to dream about the tablet and tries to get him to translate it in his dream and reveal all to her.
The other part of the story is how Sam finds a boyfriend, goes off on dates, has sex etc.. Sam's boyfriend is a cop named Pete and very curious about her because he can tell that she is hiding stuff from him. He calls in a favour and gets a friend to do a background check on her. When it turns up less than it should he realises that she is involved in some pretty top-secret stuff.
While Daniel is describing his dreams to Teal'c and Sam, Teal'c works out that Osiris is manipulating him using the memory recall device. They guess that Osiris must be using Asgard beaming technology (that Anubis obtained while probing Thor's mind) to visit Daniel at night, so they set up a trap with some new technology they have been developing that supresses transport beams and ring transporters. They plan to let Osiris lead Daniel to the information so that they have it for themselves, but trap Osiris preventing her from relaying the information to Anubis.
Anyway, Sam's overly curious boyfriend follows her and stakes out the stake-out at Daniel's house. Needless to say, things go wrong, Osiris works out that Daniel is tricking her and tries to escape. After realising that she can't beam out she tries to make a run for it and there is a fire-fight in the street. She appears to have some new weaponry that can be mounted on the first finger (very small) and fires a red laser type beam.
Pete tries to get involved, and gets hurt badly. Eventually Jack stops Osiris with a tranquilizer dart and they rush Pete to the hospital at the SGC. He survives and since he has seen so much, Sam is able to tell him everything.
The Tok'ra help them separate Osiris from Sarah and Daniel is reunited with her in a doubly happy ending.
My comments
I thought this episode was pretty average. I found the story about Sam and her boyfriend pretty boring personally, although it was interesting to see Sam in different situations that we would not normally see and learn a few new things about her. She has an alphabetically ordered bookshelf!
The Osiris story was a little more interesting to me really, mostly because of the new revelations with the new technologies. I much preferred to see the Daniel/Sarah/Osiris interactions than the Sam/Pete interactions.
I found it really quite unrealistic how Teal'c worked out what was happening to Daniel so quickly and with so little information. Okay, he is very alert, but these were dreams after all and it just came off in really bad way to me. They couldn't have known for sure, yet they went to all that trouble with the setup anyway. They also happeneded to have only just developed this transport inhibiting technology ![]()
On a matter very unimportant to Stargate, I really don't like how Amanda Tapping looks with her hair up like she had it when she went on that date. I did however love the humming of the Stargate theme in the lift ![]()
This episode leaves us with a few unanswered questions...
Basic Rating (im half asleep lol)
+sam got a boyfriend who didnt die
+Nice to see an end to the orsiris arc.
+daniel got someone who he loved back (unlike his wife)
+jack was up to his usual self
+sam humming the theme tune to the show.
-not enough tealc, loved the donut bit as well
-no stargate (its the name of the show, id like to see it at least once)
total rating
**1/2
Right first of all it gets a 6/10 for me. Not enough action as we are used to seeing on Stargate. I did not like the fact Osiris had Asgard transporter technology although we knew how she got it I think its not fair that they use it as those Asgard probably studied years for that tech and Osiris/Anubus took it from Thor in a matter if hours.
Second of all I don't think Teal'c was Teal'c in that episode. he seems to have lost his edge a bit and his assertiveness. he was more 'loose'
Third there was a tiny bit of humour in the episode with Colonel O'Neill replying 'kinky' to Daniel's dream thing. And the fact that Teal'c had doughnuts in the van was also pretty funny. I can't believe Sam and Pete gatecrahsed that 50th Anniversary!!
The humming of the theme song was just a bit weird aswell.
At the end of the episode it was pretty good that Osiris is gone and Sarah is back with Daniel and that Pete didn't die so Sam's curse is over (we think)!
Question... So do we now have an Asgard transporter and a ship possibly in orbit!!!!??? Hopefully we do so we can put it to good use...
SPOILERS... Looking ahead and looking forward to next weeks episode as the Super Soldier returns to attack the beta site! Read the synopsis from Sky and apparently Selmac and Carter have developed a new weapon to combat the soldier. Should be interesting to find out about. Hopefully alot of action in next weeks ep cos the past few have been a little lacking in that area!
Just to sum up 6/10! Average 3 Star ep!
On Aesirs post he said something about Sam's neighbours whereas it happened at Daniel's house so......
It was an ok episode. The Daniel/Osiris story was the more intresting story. I'd still like to know where Osiris tansported in from and does Sarah retain any of Osiris'knowledge about Anubis.
I assume the Tok'ra took Osiris, what do they plan on doing with the symbiote.
It was a good episode. Sam looked great with her hair differently for once, and the humming the theme tune was funny. Teal'c with the donuts was such a simpsons moment. There's just not enough RDA in it these days though...
Attached image(s)
I thought this ep. was good, yeh not much action but from what i've heard the next few gona have more of that so tis ok. Not enough RDA (which kinda getting used to) and Teal'c. Loved Daniels 'Yes Jack I'm fast asleep' and the hole convo in the lift between jack n sam. I don't really understand y sam not mad at pete for following her etc. Also why did daniel have normal hair when he was younger... then change to geeky floppy hair then back to normal hair? lol yes i kno the real answer for that.
Lol yeah that daniel bit was funny. I feel kinda sorry for jack now, he's the only member of SG-1 not seeing anyone and on top of that he has to watch sam dating someone else. i think daniels hair probably the same because osiris was manipulating the dream- they don't always have to be exactly the same. does sarah annoy anyone else or is it just me?! i liked the bit at the end where sam told pete about the stargate
I actually rather enjoyed this episode. I am glad the "curse" that Sam had is over but i am also disappointed, as her new boyfriend is an "obstacle" in the way of jack and Sam.
I enjoyed the humming of the theme tune in the lift, it did seem weird though. I also enjoyed the fact that Sam's new boyfriend thinks that she was joking when she said all her previous boyfriends were dead. I wonder what he will do when he finds out she wasn't joking! Among many things that i enjoyed in this episode, i have to say that one of my favourites is the fact that Daniel may have another chance to fix the mistakes he made with Sarah all those years ago.
Having said this i have been left with a few questions.
+Where was the ship that was transporting Sarah/osiris, as somebody has to be wondering where she is.
+Where did the jammer technology come from, the only explanation i can think of is that they wished to add something similar to the Prometheus to prevent what happened in "Grace" or to prevent people like the rogue asgard Loki taking humans for experiments again.
+What did Daniel mean with the statement about "the origin of doors?. Does he mean that it is the source of the first stargate or it leads to a larger network of gates? I have no idea. (If somebody can help with this please tell me)
+Finally, the stargates were designed by the ancients, so why didn't the symbols on the tablet and the ones on the gate match. The only reason i can think of is the ancients wrote numbers for each symbol starting with the point of origin.
Finally i have to say i enjoyed this episode despite the question, 8/10 from me.
They might come back to the missing osiris thing in another episode..maybe her jaffa will come back to wreak revenge or something
or maybe they just shrugged their shoulders and went home. what happened to the symbiote though, how did they get it out without killing sarah- does she have to use that stuff that Teal'c/Bra'tac etc use?
as for the rest of the qs i have no idea..
i was in mixed emotions for this episode, i thought the acting on Amanda Tapping's part was brilliant, as was everyone elses i guess. But im a little cheesed of that Sam's boyfriend didnt die. Nevermind, theres always the next episode for him to die in some horrible goa'uld attack, here's hoping.
overall 9/10
You just know he'll die! It's a long-term relationship for sam if she goes out with anyone for longer than one episode.
lol. I do now get the impression this will all end in a situation where sam will have to chose between jack and the bloke from tonights episode, obviously we know who she is going to choose.
OK setting aside the prejudice that this didn't feel much like a Stargate episode (what with there being no actual Stargate per se) and therefore will probably not be rated too highly by those who want tons of guys with big guns and special effects, I'll allow that this was pretty fun to watch.
Stargate always seems to do best when it welds two stories into one episode and, from a story point of view, they did quite a good job here, with the paralells to what was going on in Sam's life and in Daniel's dreams. Often the writers can forget to bring stories together at the end and they feel disjointed but the did good here, dovetailing nicely into a happy enough resolution.
That said this is very much one of those where you have to look through the plot inconsitencies and basic storytelling and just enjoy the performances and the damn fun everyone seems to be having making it. Yep I always think it translates very well on screen when people are having a good time doing something and you can rally see it here. I bet David Deluise had everyone cracked up all the time. I could really see his father in him at times.
As I said, if you're the shoot 'em up type then you're probably not gonna find much to reccomend it here.
This was chock full o' in jokes too. Right from the "all my boyfriends are dead" non joke to the humming of the theme tune in the lift...how cool was that!
The lift scene stands out for me because I have always thought that RDA and AT have a really great sense of comic timing when they work together.
In fact AT really shone here. She managed to portray such a wonderfully newly-in-love and yet slightly sad that she can't really share her life so well. A lot of fun (not to mention flesh...even I gasped slightly at those shoes!) and a little bit of angst.
Now as a bit of a J/S shipper I should be sitting here with my Pete voodoo doll and all, but I really liked the guy (probably because the actor made him so good) and I really liked the fact that O'Neill was pretty cool with her having a guy in her life. Some might say smug even. I like that moment (and the acknowledgement of it) of awkwardness in the lift scene too. Hey it looks like three out of four of them are getting laid and I reckon Jack owes everyone one for quite a few times when he's copped off with some bird so all's cool.
MS shone too though. Through all thay yawning and being tired he did a nice bit of comedy himself, particularly the scene in the commisary. Don't know why but I really liked that scene. And I loved the fact that Teal'c seems more human. I know there's a bit of negativity over that development but I think it's good. After seven years I'd think the man would lighten up a bit. And he likes donuts. Another Homer Simpson reference maybe?
Anyway overall I enjoyed this. It entertained me for an hour which takes a fair bit of doing, and I already want to watch it again so I'll give it a thumbs up.
I found this ep really difficult to watch (only because of the Sam/Pete scenes)
Michael Shanks was excellent and the Daniel/Osiris story was excellent.
Jack was as gorgeous as ever.
I would have to say my favourite scene was the elevator and the humming. As Majikthize said the comic timing was excellent.
One question no one can answer for me is why Pete survived the ep
Well, it was better than 'Grace' in that the massive number of mysteries will probably be revealed soon.
I would like to know a lot more about the anti-Goa'uld tech device. Why would it prevent a transport device from working, but not the hand device or the weapon? Was it in the van? And could she have escaped after blowing it up?
The first dart the Jack shot missed, and that confused me. Did he just happen to shoot as she was doing the shock wave thing?
I LOVED carters car...
VOLVO FOR LIFE!
as soon as i can afford another one, although she held up well concidering she was rear ended by a bus...
I had to look up 'Chimera', I was thinking of the Greek beast, but apparently it also could be "A fanciful mental illusion". Interesting, I had no idea...
Did Osiris know Daniel was lying (I am convinced he was)? Or did she just give up when he did?
The Pete storyline was interesting to say the least, but the show would have been better without it. At the very least it will hurt the Jack/Sam people. I really didn't like his character though, and it seems that he will become a permanent member of the cast now that he knows so much. I hope I am wrong though, what could he possibly contribute?
Sam:<surprised> Colonel!
Jack: Carter
Daniel:<yawning> coffee...

If Osiris truely was on a ship, and she never reported back, don't you think the ship would have, well, destroyed Earth?
Anyway, this episode was OK...I was expecting a little more interaction between Osirisarah and Daniel, but oh well....
The lack of the Stargate really takes this episode down though, and it's noticable.
I'll give it a 4.3/10.
I mean....it just didn't seem focused on the Stargate element much at all. He translates it...what does it say? What are the addresses? Are they going to go there? Did he truely not know? What about Pete and the Stargate?
Is Osiris truely gone, or did she take over Ala-"The Enemy Within"?
I do hope the rest of the Season 7 eps actually focus on Stargate....Because I'm noticing a bit of a lack of that in Season 7.
I just had a crazy though, and I welcome you all to make fun of me for it.
Daniel tells Osiris that there are 7 symbols he can't read. Why would there be 7 symbols? They only need 6 plus the point of origin. Unless...
it's an 8 chevron address!
The Ancients could have tried to ensure that no one would find it by making the address so unique.
Let the punishment begin!
Well I see some of the loose ends are starting to tie themselves up. This episode should have been titled, "Love For Carter".
I have to admit that I haven't seen the chemistry this good among the cast since Window of Opportunity. A few stretches in the plot in which the lines just flowed and flowed well. The timing was perfect.
Good to finally bring closure to the whole Osiris escapade without the host being lost. Perhaps Daniel will pick up where he left off in his relationship with Sarah. Oh and Carter get's some "quality time".
At least this bf won't die. . . this time. There were points in the episode in which it looked like the Carter from season 1. At least she was able to let her hair down. . . . of course it didn't fall very far.
im currently download the usualy 440mb file for this ep. watch it tonite i will
hopefully my id on this site will be fixed. so i can talk bout it!
Firstly Pete wasn't actually a Cop perse' he was an FBI agent, which makes a lot of difference. I thought this was a decent episode, and now that Pete knows all about the Stargate Sam and him can have a normal relationship, and hopefully without the bf dying in some bizarre event that has lots to do with the hidden Stargate.
Pete is an FBI agent? Where was that? I know that he phoned an obviously old FBI buddy to get the skinny on Carter, but that doesn't mean he is one himself. Was there something else to indicate he was that I missed?
Okay, my thoughts. I have kind of mixed feelings about this one. I kind of enjoyed it in the main but I found a lot of it boring too and think it could have been done with a bit more pizzazz really. I watched it again this morning and found myself fast forwarding through quite a lot. The scenes with Sarah/Daniel and Jack/Sam were too repetitive - oh there's Daniel and Sarah working on a tablet. Oh, look there they are - working on that tablet. Again. You get the gist. Although, admittedly, Daniel did look very cute throughout the episode.
And, hey, what about that Mulder moment there when they figured out the dreams! As someone's already pointed out, I found that a little convenient and somewhat strange. I was confused as to why Daniel was so fixated on the fact that the details of the real life incidents were different in his dreams. Hey, it's a dream! That's what dreams do. Oh well - maybe it was something instinctive that he knew something just wasn't right.
Oh and please note. Jack - ever the 'dumb' one - immediately cuts to the heart of the matter and points out the flaw in the plan that geniuses Carter and Daniel have failed to spot. WTG, Jack. <G>
What else? Oh yeah...Pete. <g> Where do I start with Pete? Well, leaving completely aside the fact that he's intended to get in the way (temporarily we can hope) of Sam and Jack, I didn't really like him much. He was a little too slick and smarmy for my tastes. And I tell you something, if my new boyfriend had told me to get dolled up to the nines with the promise of a special evening and then we ended up gatecrashing some old biddies' 50th wedding anniversary do - he wouldn't have lasted the week! And I thought Sam looked like a streetwalker in that dress. <shudder>. Do have to admit though that they looked kind of cute in that opening scene. Well...Sam did anyway.
They did surprise me with Sam telling him everything at the end. Annoyed me too to be honest. I mean, for goodness sake! The woman wasn't even allowed to tell her father when he was dying of cancer! And he was an ex-military man who had proved his loyalty to his country and could surely be trusted to understand the words classified and secret. Yet now she's allowed to blab all to some boyfriend she's only just met? Who, let's not forget, got injured sneaking around behind her back trying to find out what she did. Real trustworthy there! Puhlease. It made no sense. And yes, admittedly, Pete had already seen some weird things. But, heck, so did that colleague of Daniel's and Daniel didn't blab to him. All he got was 'a good story' made up to cover the mess. So it gave me the same sense of annoyance that one as when the X Files used to retroactively mess with canon just for their own convience. Felt much the same thing to me.
On the other hand...there's a silver lining. Now there's no help for it. Pete must die. <g> Just like everyone who knows Clark Kent is Superman. The man just knows too much. Hey, maybe that was a cunning plan there from Jack. "Yeah, Carter, you go tell him everything..." then muttering when she left the room "Course...we'll have to kill him if you do...."
Actually, I think the seeds of the doomnation of Sam's relationship with Pete might have been right there in the episode. Being a cop for him, he says, is more than a job. It's his life. It's what shapes him, makes him what he is. A part of him, of who he is. Just as Sam's work does her. To have a long-term relationship one of them would have to give that up and somehow I can't see either of them doing that. Of course I have no idea how easy it would be to stop being a cop in Denver and start being a cop in Colorado Springs....
Did love the elevator scene. That made the entire episode for me right there. I cringed with the Stargate theme - I just have an aversion to shows breaking the fourth wall and always have done, so that made me wince. But others have done it in the past and I'm sure others loved it as a cute in joke. Liked Sam rubbing Daniel's back in the commisary. And the mock 'sexual heat' look he gave her when she said it sounded like every male fantasy. He was cute there.
Was also a little disappointed with the swift - hasty - exit of Osiris. Just as I was with the way they disposed of Hathor before her. Kind of wham, bam...oh she's gone. With Hathor, first time I saw that episode I was convinced for the longest time she wasn't dead and remember being shocked when I finally realised they'd meant it! Same here. Osiris was a wonderfully and deliciously evil villain and I think she deserved more than 'trank dart...gone'. In fact, it was so rushed imo that in that final scene between Sarah and Daniel in the infirmary where we see Daniel's back and Sarah's face I half-expected her eyes to glow. Kind of disappointed they didn't really. That would have been more fun.
Well, from this post I seem to have more things I disliked than liked. But I think that would be unfair to say. I did like this one - I just thought it could have been even better with a little more thought. Besides, having discovered over the past couple of months episode after episode from previous seasons which bored me to tears or which I loathed first time around and now absolutely adore as firm favourites...(Tangent and Fail Safe being two prime examples) I'm trying to avoid making snap judgements on this season's eps. <g> I figure any opinion is subject to sudden change at any moment.
Well Stargate in my opinion has really gone down hill this season. Not nearly enough action from the goaulds. There drifting away from what made teh series such a hit in the first place. They had a great opportunity in this episode for some good action scenes with osiris, but they wasted it.
I certainly hope the next few eps are gonna go back to the old school style eps.
Mike.
I must admit that when Pete"took a hit" I thought it was gonna be all over for Sam in the Bedroom Dept. though I did think that possably Daddy was going to turn up and save the day. After all a Sam/Tok-ra thing is'nt without some precedent.
Still, for all those Cynics out there, He's still got to "make it through" His next episode now has'nt He.
Picture the scene: "So Sam this is what annother planet looks like" [SIZE=14][COLOR=blue]WHOOOSH[COLOR=red]BOOM[SIZE=1]"Oh S*** there goes annother one, Quick Daniel Dial Us out"
My opinion:
Storylines
Sam and Pete/Daniel and Osiris- It was mentioned in a post earlier how unrealistic and hypocritical it was that sam divulged the Stargate info. I highly agree with this and that left a slightly bitter taste in the mouth. This episode, to me, seemed simply to be a awagon to break carters luck with men and get Daniel a women back in his life alive as well. In doing do i think the writers did a poor storyline. I am a shipper at times but this was even worse than 'Grace'- there wasn't enough va voom in the show. I like a bit of emotional stuff, like the best of us, but i also enjoy a bit of action- and this was very dissapointing.
I was dissapointed, not just with ow it ended with Sam and Pete but, with the Osiris/ Sarh/ Daniel ending. It was way to short and unexplained. What happened to the Goa'uld, where did the ship she was in go, why did she seem to be to o.k with waking up back at the Sgc? I think, it would have been better, with a little bit more time.
and one last question............Who and where did sam get that pic of them from? I thought she didn't know the anniversary couple- but that's t.v for you......it's like when the characters of Beverley Hills 90210 used to wake up with perfect hair and make up - just accept and move on
5/10...I am more hopeful at next weeks episode.

Albion (taking her own advice and editing out a nasty typo there... <g> )
can someone let me know the details of the elevator scene? As i have to wait about a year to see the episode i want to have at least one thing to enjoy
i read in another forum that perter will show up in a coming episode again, can somebody confirm that??
No idea whether they'll go with Peter guesting in other episodes until the relationshp ends (no, there is no other outcome) or whether it will just be a case of dropping his name into dialogue every now and then so we know he's still around.
The elevator scene is only half priceless for the dialogue, you really have to see it. Their expressions and body language are hilarious. Particularly Jack's. But if no one else comes up with it I'll see if I have time to run the tape and jot down the dialogue later for you.
Forgot to mention earlier - think it was in this thread someone said Sam's neighbours would be up in arms again? The battle with Osiris was at Daniel's home, not Sam's. There goes another neighbourhood!
EDIT: Okay I was having a late lunch, so transcribed the scene while I was doing so. Meant I had to watch it all again - oh, the horror. I'm going to email it to you though, not sure if putting it here in the thread would be considered a spoiler, even though the episode has aired already, and I haven't the first clue how to do that whiteout thingy.
FURTHER EDIT: Okay, the email bounced. Apparently you have too many messages on your server. So, you want it, get emptying that mailbox. <g> I'll try sending it again later.

Is it me or did it seem like Osiris gained a bit of Asgard transport technology from the mind probe conducted on Thor in the season five finale? It had the sound and look of an Asgard transport.
I wonder what becomes of her ship orbiting the planet. Again she must of used Thor's knowledge of cloaking technology to mask her ship from Earth's sensors. Does the Air Force call it their own and slap a big huge USAF sticker on it?
Trying to answer some of Aesirs questions

Firstly, there is the Daniel centred plotline where we learn that Osiris has accessed the memories of her host and discovered that Daniel once saw a tablet that revealed how to find the Lost City. At the time, he probably didn't have a clue what it was.
QUOTE
Did Daniel discover the gate address to the Lost City? The ending made it seem like he didn't find it out, but he could have just been concealing it from Osiris.
QUOTE
What I found odd is that they talk about there being a gate address on the tablet... surely it would be written as the normal symbols and both Daniel and Osiris would instantly be able to know where the Lost City is?
well, my reasoning for the lack of symbols on the tablet is a follows.
We have seen the ancients language many times, just as we have seen are own, and just like are own language we have words and numbers, etc....
i.e 1 and one
you understand what i mean? Osiris, from what i saw, doesn't know the Ancient language (so does that mean that Anubis doesn't too?) so she wouldn't be able to find out the address. Most languages using a latin based form use the 1 when writing down the amount of one as in a number. but when actually writing it down as a word they put.....well there languages version
So it could be just as simple as that. There are different ways, perhaps, of writing the gate addresses?
What makes you think Osiris really has found an address and just needs Daniel for the translation job? I think they say in the episode that Osiris is trying to get the information about the location from Daniel?s mind, because he possibly knew it when he was ascended.
If it just was about the translation, both Daniel and Anubis won?t have any problems, as we?ve seen before (in Fallen, Daniel deciphered Anubis? encryption code written in Ancient, so both speak the language).
You could be right and there is some sort of written text on the tablet instead of symbols... however, perhaps we don?t have to take it literally, it?s a dream after all, and perhaps there are symbols on the tablet, but they are unsharp and Daniel can?t focus on them... think of your own dreams, sometimes things are just unclear and you can?t see them exactly.

This was another great episode which continues the revival of Season 7.![]()
Good Points:
+ Sam huming The Stargate theme wile in the elevator with Jack
+ The bit with the donuts. More classic Teal'c and Jack humour.!
+ Sam finally getting a boyfriend who doesn't die.
+ Osiris getting caught. I HATE that b#*ch!!
and finally.......+ The Sam and Pete gag at the table in the cafe at the start!!
Bad Points: There weren't really any serios problems with the episode. It was more like loose ends in the plot.
- What will happen to Pete(assuming he is doesn't die) now that
he knows about the SGC. Osiris, and all of the people that
couldn't possibly have missed the big firefight?
- Did Sam have authorization to tell Pete about the SGC? If she
didn't then what will happen to her?
- For Osiris to have been using the Asgard beaming technology
she must have been fairly close to the Earth. Most probably in a
cloaked Hatak or Cargo Ship. If she had been on a Hatak then it
is unlikely that she would have been abandoned like we see.
This suggests that she came alone in a Cargo Ship and that
would mean that there is a argo Ship floating around up in
orbit, perhaps with Goa'uld-Asgard hybrid technology.
Something which could be explored in other episodes perhaps.
- Did Daniel remember the symbols to the Lost City in his dream
and just hide it from Osiris or does he just not know. It is most
likely in my opinion that he doesn't because, oh what......., 5
minutes before he Descended he said that he didn't.
These points did not stop this from being a very good episode, the best of the series in fact, and that is why it is getting 9/10 from me. Very good and lets hope it keeps on going. Bring on 716!
Nicley said jaffagod, finally someone who doesn't whinge endlessly about an episode just because it doesn't have an action.
i think this is a kinda average episode
the bit i loved was the lift seen i thought it was v funny.
they cut the end of the osiris story a bit short coz one minute they caught her an the next her symbiote woz removed, but is it me or did i see some evil in sarahs eyes at the end?
i dont think they can carry on the sam/pete thing coz it has to be sam.jack in the end lol.
Well,
i though that the lost city would be on a planet dialed with 9 chevron!!!
yes
as we can see, the gate is composed of 9 chevrons,
only 7 requiered for calling regular planets,
in season 2 ( fith race ), RDA composed the azgard planet (OTALA => 8 chevrons)
the 8th chevron alows people to change zone(galaxy)
maybe the 9th alows to change plan of existance, or change the dimention.
so i imagined that the lost city would have been 9, ( very secrete place ...etc etc..)
=> obviously not
)
we will see that soon

I certainly hope the next few eps are gonna go back to the old school style eps.
Coming back with a couple of additions. Watched the episode again this afternoon and spotted a couple of things I'd missed earlier.
To the poster who mentioned Daniel's hair not being 'floppy' as it should have been for the timeframe in the dream. Hey, look what I found! It was covered in the scene right at the start where Daniel mentioned he'd had a weird dream:
Sam: How is that weird?
Daniel: Oh, things were all mixed up, my hair was different, you know...
They know us so well. <g> I missed this entirely first time around because I misheard what he said and thought it was 'her hair'. Then spent the entire episode wondering what the heck he was talking about because Sarah's hair looked just the same as it always had to me! Eeesh.
Secondly, for the poster who asked if it was just them or did Osiris pick Thor's brains and get Asgard technology - not just you, this was covered in the episode also. In the briefing on the plan:
Teal'c: Anubis once probed Thor's mind and in doing so they would have gained access to Asgard beaming technology.
Daniel: That would allow her to come and go undetected.
QUOTE
Hmm...In defense of this: Sometimes I'll have a dream that seems just a little too "real", just a little too on the mark. These type of dreams usually mean something very deep, but I have to study them. Perhaps Daniel is the same way? or perhaps Daniel doesn't dream like this at all?
QUOTE
Well, I was thinking about this and it strikes me that perhaps what clued him in was the logical progression of the dream over a period of nights. I mean how often do you dream a history of past events over a span of nights that follows on logically and in sequence, one after the other?
i thought this was a good ep! liked the elevator bit where sam was humming the Stargate theame and then cuz she was humming jack knew something was up so asked who was he! and then left the elevator nervously!
but like the daniel, sarah/Osiris bit and daniel has been able 2 save one of his friends and liked it when she was firing laser bolts out her fingers
oh and teal'c donut obsenction!
I can only just say BIG WOW !!!!

And i have some "none rated" pictures, for those peoples who are 20 year old &=)
Before u all doom me...this is all IMO
To be honest, I think this episode rocked considering 2 crappy episodes back to back (atleast for me)
And I think they took the Carter being seduced part a little too far. I'm not gay or anything but I always loved Stargate for being able to integrate affection without showing it outright and in this episode they just went all out and nearly made it a porno scene.
As for the Daniel/Sarah/Osiris bit, I must admit that it kinda ended abruptly. If the tranquiliser worked so quickly this time, she could have been stopped in Curse itself. I was half expecting her to hit the hand device and woosh away. And I didn't like the way she looked in the end. Even Jack and Sam hugged like hell in 301 and they are in the military. Sarah was like "damn, now i am with this guy again"
If we dont see that much of Rick in the future in an episode, its gonna be dryyy.
For Teal'c, I had to feel sad for him when no one takes his donuts and his smily face goes frowny ![]()
Thats my two cents...

I liked the episode overall, I give it a 9 / 10.
Sam looked pretty sexy and showed off alot of skin in this episode. Sara also looked very sexy and provocative. I felt sorry for Jack cause everybody has someone but Jack seems alone. Maybe Jack will go back to Laira but who knows.
The elevator scene was very funny, I enjoyed that. I don't know why people would dislike this episode. It continued the storyline and also gave us more background of Daniel Jackson. And we now know that Anubus has Asgard transportation technology and that we are able to jam the transport signals of Goa'uld. Both of which will play a big part in future episodes no doubt.
The ending was kinda quick in a sense, I was on the edge of my seat expecting Osirus to get away after she blew up the Van(where the Jamming device was). Even after she got shot with the tranquilizer I woulda thought she woulda hit her device and beam outta there. At least Daniel has his girl back, and maybe she'll be working for the SGC since she does have knowledge of the Goa'uld now. So we might be seeing her at the SGC even. I wouldn't mind being as sexy and attractive as she is.
A few things I didn't like but didn't hurt the overall rating of the episode. Pete's humor was kinda lame, I didn't like Pete at all. Some of the humor was funny but I felt that Sam was kinda laughing AT him instead of WITH him during some of the jokes. Did I mention that I didn't like Pete? Pete in no way deserves Sam, he is not good enough for her. That's right, Pete is not good enough for Sam. I want Sam to be with Orin or Narim and maybe even Martooth(the tok'ra).
Oh the part when they were in the stake out van when Teal'c offered doughnuts to Sam and Jack. When Jack turned him down I thought Teal'c made a sad face with the blinks signaling he was dissapointed that they didn't take a doughnut. I think he was hurt from it, cause he went out and picked out the doughnuts himself it seems. Also speaking of Teal'c, when they were weight lifting, they shoulda used the rubber bar like in "Upgrades". Cause Teal'c was benching over 500 lbs, now I lift weights and I know even with 315 the bar bends a little. They shoulda used the rubber bar so that when he touches his chest the bar bends and flexes.
One big thing I couldn't figure out was, HOW the hell did Pete follow them to Daniel's house. Cause Pete followed Carter to the SGC but then how did he know she was in the van and followed it? Cause I don't believe that Sam would go home and change her cloths then drive to the Van. She was in civilian clothign and drove to the base, then got in the airforce outfit and jumped in the van.
Also about Sam telling Pete the whole story of the SGC, there is no way in hell that would happen unless Pete is now part of the program. Even tho he saw the laser devices and the glowing eyes, there is no way that they can reveal it to them. Maybe they weren't afraid to because the the Wormhole X-treme TV show. But still, COME ON.
Overall I liked the Episode alot, I gave it a 9/10. It continued the Stargate storyline. But I'm still bugged over the issue of how did Pete trace Carter to Daniel's house.
JohnY
P.S. I hope Pete gets shot and killed in a routine traffic stop, and then Narim or Orlin comes back. Cause I would like to see someone worthy to be with Carter. Plus Pete is a Dumbass.
Or maybe Orlin or Narim comes back and Carter would have to decide who to pick! Now that would make an interesting episode with lots of drama!
JohnY
Hey, Cool episode. I did enjoy the episode, it was very entertaining. Yes, I admit that the stories of season 7 were to wrap up loose ends to end SG1, I dont think that these have been rewritten in light of season 8 but it seems that more loose ends are now coming out of these episodes now. Does that mean season 9 too, or worse, does it mean season 9 without RDA?
I like the little bits about the lost city in season 7, much as like a drum roll towards the LOST CITY episodes and the new ATLANTIS. I'd say, yes. Forget Trek. Stargate is the next biggest franchise.
BTW, I am meeting Christopher Judge and Michael Shanks next wednesday in the UK. Anyone for any signatures? hehe

you know what? It was so cheesy but i thought this ep rocked! and i think they're were so many in-jokes that you couldn't take it too seriously.
pete is soooo cute in a deluise brother kind of way and when he got hit in the end i was like "Noooooooooooooooo......he can't die!!!!" but yeah....thank god he didn't.
Daniel was really cute when he was all tired and sleepy and ARGH....i loved the ep.
The elevator scene was good and i loved it when tealc offered the donuts..heh jaffa humour.
some good lines

J: Major

Hammond: Are you saying that osiris is here on earth manipulating Dr Jackon's dreams?

J: Kinky....

D: yes Jack, I'm fast asleep.
Ahahahahah
Maybe my expectations of Sg1 eps have dropped but i've enjoyed most of the eps this season inclu. the past 2 grace and fallout.
I think no nitpicking was the way to approach this ep, i think one gains more enjoyment out of it then.

I'm still very undecided about this episode so i cant say right now whether i liked it or not as a whole, but i can tell you what i liked/didnt like in the ep.
I liked the scene between Sam and Jack in the lift, very awkward, very funny. When Sam started humming the theme tune i was like.... "is that?.... it isnt.... it cant be.... it is!" Then i couldnt stop giggling.
Being the Sam and Jack shipper that i am, i really didnt expect to like Pete, but i did. However, that was when he was 'nice, Jack substitute guy', then he turned into 'obsessed, stalker guy' and from then on i thought he had to go. I still cant understand why Sam wasnt angry at him for doing this, but maybe thats love for ya.
Its been said before but i dont think it was right that Sam was allowed to tell Pete about the Stargate and everything. Pete was managable for one ep, but no more. I dont want him to become a recurring character having a part of other storylines.
I liked the Daniel/Sarah/Osiris thing, but thought that the ending could have been done a lot better. I dont know if this has been said but.... Osiris had a personal defence shield, so she knew that the weapons they would have wernt likely to penetrate it. So, why didnt she use the Asgard transporter thing to get the hell out of there as soon as she was outside instead of waiting around firing at Sam and and Pete? I am of course assuming that how they blocked her from transporting out in the first place only covered Daniels house, not more of the area.
Oh, and another thing about Daniel... when did he get a house? I thought he lived in an appartment. ![]()
EDIT: And what was that sinister look Sarah gave at the end? Maybe its not all over like we thought.

At the moment, I've still got mixed thoughts over this ep. On some levels I liked it because of the humour and the Daniel/Osiris/Sarah storyline, but I hated the whole Sam/Pete thing. Through watching this episode, I think I've come to realise that maybe I am a bit of a Jack/Sam shipper after all.
I hate Pete! Grr...
I think someone has said it before, but to me he did seem as if he was just coming between Jack and Sam. Ok...so maybe there was nothing really in that sense for him to come in between but I'm sure some of you catch my drift.
When Pete went down, I was like "YES!! Woooo...he's dead!"
When he got back up again, I was like "Nooooooo...you ass you're supposed to die!" So, as you can see, I don't like him and I want him to die. It's not that Sam doesn't deserve to be happy or anything, I just hate him.
And the bit where Sam told Pete about the Stargate and the SGC and all...hello?? I thought the Stargate was the biggest secret on Earth? It just seems unrealistic that she would be given permission to tell some cop she's been going with for a while, even though he saw quite a bit. But what happened to good old cover stories and forced amnesia??
dude seriously pete needs to have a heart attack or soemthing
hes messin it all up man....holy crap...the BALANCE!!! THE BALANCE!!!!!
But I'll forgive you because then you made me laugh out loud with this one:

Wow! This was an amazing episode. The funniest since Window of Opportunity, if not funnier. Don't get all nitpicky guys, if it isn't a serious problem, don't stress. Relax and enjoy. This episode was clearly designed for humour, to set Sam up with a boyfriend, and to finally end the Osiris plotline. It managed to combine all of that quite well I'd say.
Things learned:
1) We have a signal jammer that jams Goa'uld signals now.
2) Anubis swiped teleportation technology from Thor
3) The Goa'uld now have a finger ring that fires a particle beam
4) Anubis again shows his fear of openly attacking Earth
Questions:
If the Protected Planets treaty ended, why is it that the Goa'uld don't openly attack Earth? Well, I believe that the treaty is still effect on the show because the writers deem it so.
At the end when Sarah hugged Daniel, she had a look on her face that I interpretted as an Osiris look, and I was waiting for her eyes to glow. They didn't, and I was rather surprised. Oh well, the Tok'ra know there stuff now. They did get to practice symbiote removal on Ska'ra afterall.

Even though this episode isn't that great, it's one of the best of this season. SG1 actually did something together, other than have a meeting with Hammond. It's also nice to see them tie up a loose end this seasen, saving Sarah. I am assumming, however, that we'll never see or hear of her again making the whole thing kinda pointless.

Quick review from me:
This episode focuses on mainly Carter and Daniel. Seems like this season is all about character development with a pinch of story development thrown in.
The Carter storyline. Carter's storyline is about her new relationship and herself outside of work. I wasn't quite sure she really did like him at first (although it was totally obvious he was smitten with her), but towards the end she I was convinced she really did like him. Like most tv series, she had to deal with having a huge secret identity when forming a relation outside her work. And like most tv series, it either had to end with them breaking up, or her revealing the secret. I was worried that they put Carter's blackwidow curse to work (did it ever?) and killed him off, but I am glad they didn't.
Daniel's storyline focuses more on the main plot of the season (The Lost City of Atlantis) and her previous relationship with Sarah (and Osiris). I am a bit sceptical of Daniel trying to read and translate an ancient language in a dream. I often find it hard to read, much less translate anything in dreams. The Gaould device might have help him focus and thus causing him his sleep deprivation even though he was dreaming. I thing to note was that even though he said that he couldn't work out where the city was, does not mean that he doesn't know. It means he might know, but opted not to tell Osiris the information in cases she escaped.
This is actually quite a good episode as it ties up a few loose ends. There was a slight plot development and we are catching up on the character Daniel and Sam (previous season had a more focus of Jack). Unfortunately, because of this, a powerful half-Gaould such as Anubis doesn't seem to be a major threat - there's no urgency this season. This episode also showed that SG1 has changed a lot since Season 1. There are no character deaths, they managed to capture a Gaould (this would seem impossible in previous seasons) AND bring back Sara (they had wanted to do this for a long time, think of all the people they could save!).
There is nothing SG1 can't handle, but we all knew that. ![]()

Personally, I found this episode pretty boring...I mean, it was great to get some reolutions and all in the Daniel Storyline, but still...
I just really, really, really hate Sam's boyfriend, lol. I really want her to end up with Jack, it's just "one of those things" I want to happen :-(
As for Osirus, it was great near the end. I've always loved the character (well, mostly the beautiful actress ;p) and i've been rooting for Daniel to save her ever since "Summit" (which, I might add, he came pretty darn close to doing if it hadn't been for Yu). When Jack came into that room and fired the tranquilizer, I shouted out "YES!" When she just repelled it back at him and struck him down, I yelled "DAMMIT!" and then started laughing because Jack got hit, lol.
Woohoo that Sarah is saved, though!
I know why Pete didn't die. It's a very simple reason.
He is a Deluise. If I remember correct he is David DeLuise. Brother of producer guy Peter Deluise.
that was an easy one. I'm suprised no one else brought that up.
loved the wistling the tune in the lift. lol

I'm unsure if it was intentional or just the actress being herself and doing it by accident, but it was an Osiris look!
The weapon was the one used by zatarcs (in 4x05 Divide and Conquer).
The ship was most likely a cargo ship in orbit, I think sarah was opperating alone (no jaffa with her). Since she didn't return to the cargo ship, the ship probaly returned to Anubis's homeworld, because of a recall device (like in 4x12 Tangent)
It isn't really explaned how Anubis knows about the lost city. Possibly because of the fake tablet from 7x01 Homecoming.
Anubis was an ascended, but so was Daniel, and he didn't know about it before he found the tablet. But it is possible that Anubis was ascended for a long time before the Ancients descended him (hunderds, perhaps even thousands of years. It was said that he dissapeard for about 2000 years, so it could be that he was ascended all that time) And that he learned of the city in that time.
If Anubis now have the asgard beaming tech then why doesn't he use it
to destroy SGC ?? (Should be easy and effective enough, just build some
big bomb and beam it in to SGC and thats it... No-one could stop him...)
the whole lift scene was cool

Wow,
Ok the reason for posting serveral days after this ep aired is the following. Brother and parents wanted to watch some football game on tuesday, i was out voted
Just watched the repeat though
My thoughts.
+See Osiris and that story is finally wrapped up
+Good to see Carter has a life
+Teal'c's donuts
+more Daniel
+Osiris's new weapon
+Was it the first time we've seen Danny's house? (last time he was in apartment)
-Like Rax said would have been nice to see the gate at least once apart from the subtitles
-What happened to Osiris once removed?
-Teal'c's theory without hardly any clues
-Jack turning down one of Teal'c's donuts
Overall 8/10 pretty cool ep.
No "chevron 1 encoded" oh well, there's next week, the doughnut was certainly okay, what happens to Sam's boyfriend now? And since Osiris gou'ald was removed, it would be disposed off, so chances are, its dead and good ridence, but what would happen to Sarah now?

I agree with your "logic", like if you died, you would expect the local authorities or relative to sell your property (or find your relatives living in it), and when you come back from the dead, its obvious, you got no choice but to start looking for a place.
yes i just saw this ep, & at first a i thought it was pretty crap, but as it went on the storylines seemed to get better & it didn't seem that this ep was plainly a shippers ep to get carter's 'can't get a bf that doesn't die' thing out of the way, but i was surpised it really had a great story arc it had refs to the lost city, osiris as well as sam & her bf thing i can say it really picked up @ the end some very cool tech & weapons we finally got to see the lazer ring the zatarc used in s4, i quite liked this one, replying to that other post i rekon anubis probably won't be able to just beam stuff out of the sgc easily coz i rekon even though he has the info for some asgard tech his understanding for asgard technology is probably very limited so he was only able to create a hand held device to just teleport one person to a place at one time like the device osiris had he probably can't beam stuff from orbit.
& also a funny line i loved.
oneil - 'hey daniel are you asleep yet'
daniel - 'yes jack i'm sound asleep'
sam & teal,c look at jack like an idiot, LOL very funny
I only hope that in sometime in the future they decide to get rid of Pete and somehow get Carter and Jack to hook up. I like the akwardness in the elevator when Carter starts by humming the Stargate-SG1 theme (IRONY) and Jack and her both seem very uncomfortable in eachothers presence.
I liked this. i didnt like how Carter was just given a boyfriend though. Ok she explained how they met, but it just seemed that he was a hasty addition half way through the current season.
Why did he get clearance to know about what the SGC is doing? Security is a bit lax now isnt it?
On a more personal note, i thought Amanda looked pretty stunning in this ep. Dont know if it was because she was wearing her 'normal' clothes. whatever it was, it worked.
I thought her breats were bigger when she was wearing those dresses, or was it just me?

Well, if anything the ability to d/l eps is freeing my friday nights so I don't have to stay home and watch/tape this ep next week, because I have very little interest in seeing it again.
For some reason, these last two weeks have been 'Snake Week', which is not to be confused with 'Shark Week' on the Discovery Channel. There was that Goa'uld from Fallout who oh-so-conveniently died within the host, and then this ep which gets Osiris out of Sarah...and then gives NO clue what happened to Osiris. Did they kill it? Put it in a tank and send it back through the gate? I can't see them being able to do an effective interrogation without it being in a host, or did they interrogate Osiris/Sarah, THEN get out the ol' needlenose pliers and yank the snake out? (damn it, that's it, get the blowtorch) If this was just your average snake I wouldn't care, but Osiris works for Anubis, the reigning Big Baddie. Isn't he going to think something's up when she doesn't report back? I mean c'mon, what gives?
I thought the Osiris/Daniel storyline wasn't bad, the problem was the lack of conflict up until he realizes that his dreams are being manipulated, and even then there wasn't much going on becuase he LET her keep doing it until the very end when he says he doesn't know the gate address. Stargate explored the whole mind-manipulation thing in The Devil You Know, which also had the victim conjure up past memories to get info out of them. I just think there should've been better hints in the dream for Daniel that something wasn't right, and then maybe give him a chance to test that theory before the stakeout. Heck, even in Changeling Teal'c knew something was screwy in the very beginning with the car wreck when he saw Bra'tac in the car.
Turning to the Sam/Pete storyline...
Again, no conflict. I think the biggest mistake was where the story picked up the relationship. It was already an ongoing thing, which means most of the potential comedic awkwardness associated with the initial dating phase was passed over. If you watched this show as a first time Stargate ep, you would never be able to tell that Carter was more at home handling a P-90 than a purse. I think it would've been great if the first date was rough going, and Carter thinks she's 'blown it', then Pete comes by again and jokes about giving her a second chance.
Another thing that would've made it better was if Carter shared a bit about her dating experience with Teal'c. It would've been funny to have Teal'c going from a scene with Daniel talking about his past relationships with Sarah to Carter talking about her date to Teal'c. The Jaffa would've been the one caught in the middle of two team members trying to out their personal lives.
Also, there's no way I buy Pete being brought to the SGC to recover from being hurt. There's just no justification for it when he could've been brought to a regular hospital instead, or at the most the Air Force hospital that was seen in Line of Duty. That would've at least introduced him to her military life on a more 'civilian-type' level.
The whole thing just felt rushed, like they wanted to cover her looking, finding, keeping a boyfriend in one episode so they wouldn't have to go back to it anymore. Okay, Carter's got a boyfriend that isn't dead..check that off the list of things to do this year.

Once again, I agree with you, Mith. The whole thing seemed rushed. I wanted to see their first date and see the thing develop a bit. It does not seem that realistic this way. And I didn't buy that Pete would be taken to the SGC hospital either, unless it was just quicker to take both him and Sarah there together. It is also unrealistic that he could be told the whole truth. And what's up with Jack being only mildly uncomfortable about the whole thing? If he was really as in love with Sam as it has appeared for years, wouldn't he at least have a one scene by himself looking a bit forlorn? I actually liked the elevator scene -- that is how is should have been all along -- Sam and Jack great colleagues/friends, no ship at all. Then he could tease her about whistling and ask about her new guy in a friendly way. But if he had feelings for her, would it be just awkward? Would Sam be whistling in front of him? Raises some serious questions for me.
But overall I enjoyed it and am having fun reading what others are saying about it. Here are my takes on some of the other issues raised:
As for the Sam/Pete relationship, I actually like it as far as it goes (yes, this shipper admits to liking the non-SJ ship). He has just the right combination of humor, charm, and seriousness to appeal to Sam. About the only kind of person she could have dated would be a military type (he's police, so close enough) or a scientist (who would understand her obsession with her work). Either way the guy would want to know more about her work. The only thing that lets me buy that Sam wouldn't be angry at Pete for following her is that she understands his need to know.
As for how Pete could stalk her (a question someone brought up earlier), perhaps he was able to get a hint from the Colorado Springs PD -- remember that Sam said the "local authorities" had been notified. Since he had been working there, he must have had contact with that force and got the lowdown.
Re: the 40's style dance that Pete and Sam attended. My intitial thought was that he had checked around and discovered that the local senior center was having a dance, open to all (there are such things). Perhaps the 50th anniversary was just being celebrated as a coincidence. Not likely, but how else did they crash such an event? Did he know someone there? They could have stuck a line in there explaining that. But it was a nice touch, since Sam had expressed her liking for classic movie musicals of that era. He got romantic for her and won her over. Cute. Oh, and the photo given to Pete at the end was taken by the professional photographer who was at the dance taking other couples photos. One presumes that she could have contacted him and ordered it.
On to Daniel and Sarah/Osiris: I, too, thought Sarah's look at the end was a little odd and wondered if there might be a surprise there, but that would be too repetitive. It is more interesting to explore what will happen now that she is freed from the goa'uld, and if the Tok'ra were involved, they could accomplish this (remember, in Enemy Within, the SGC had not met the Tok'ra yet and did not know how to separate symbiote and host safely). Too bad they also did this in "Fallout" -- wonder if that character will come back and be explored? How much do they remember? Can the Tok'ra memory devices be employed to learn information? In the case of the "Fallout" episode I find it much more interesting to speculate about how a goa'uld came to the point to sacrifice itself for its host. But that belongs in another thread.
Finally, to help Taomi out, a description of the elevator scene. This was a very light scene and the lines were mostly in a quick, bantering style, with lots of the little looks and eye-contact that we are used to seeing with Sam and Jack. Great comic timing, as many have already pointed out:
Sam has just come to work after being with Pete on a date the night before. She is happy. She is a little startled to see Jack in the elevator, but gets in and they continue to wherever they are heading. There is a pause where she looks a little awkward and unsure of what to do or say (a bit more than the usual elevator discomfort we all experience), but then she relaxes and begins humming -- the Stargate theme (a nice touch). Here?s the dialog from there:
Jack: Humming?
Sam: I am? (genuinely surprised)
Jack: You are.
Pause. He is thinking about it and she?s looking embarrassed.
Jack: What?s his name?
Sam: Now, why would you --
Jack: (He cuts her off) Humming.
Sam: (funny look) Pete.
Jack: Pete.
Sam: Pete Shanahan, he?s a cop.
Jack: Speeding again, are we?
Sam: From Denver, a friend of my brother?s
Jack: A set-up.
Sam: Pathetic, I know.
Jack: No, it?s great.
Sam: Is it?
Jack: Isn?t it?
Sam: Well, it?s not serious or anything.
Jack: And yet it *is* hum-worthy.
Sam: Sir...
Jack: Carter, it?s none of my business. I?m just glad that you?re happy about something
other than...(long pause and hand gestures while he thinks up something)...quarks.
(Sam gives him a look) Not bad with ?quarks"?
Sam: Excellent.
Awkward pause, they don?t know where to look.
Jack: A bit uncomfortable, isn?t it?
Sam: Yeah, a bit
Elevator stops, he rushes out.
Jack: (as he goes out) Good luck.
Sam: Thank you, sir. (looks sheepish and relieved after the doors close behind him).
No animosity, just a bit uncomfortable. Interesting and funny scene.

Wow, so much to read:
Anyway, I thought we saw Daniel's house before? When he died in Meridian, they had to move his stuff out of the house and we had a scene of the house. Not the bedroom granted but still. Also, remembered something about Jack saying about the wierd stuff Daniel has in his room.
Sam/Jack relation I think is now over. Sam had kind of saved herself for Jack, but it will never happen in this universe unless she gives up her career. She isn't ready for that yet, and as shown in her own Dream episode a couple of weeks before, she had given up on the issue and hope - allowing her to finally find a boyfriend. I think she deserves it.
What is with Daniel showing off his body since he descended?
I have a few favorite parts in this ep.
4 Teal'c with his new found donut fetish
3 Osiris finally being defeated
2 Sara (HOT) being freed
and number one...
1 The enire elevator scene. Starts with Carter humming the theme to the show and ends with Jack basically not knowing what to say or how to act with the knowlege that Carter has a boyfriend. you can obviosly see the jealosy in his face.
>>At the end when Sarah hugged Daniel, she had a look on her face that I interpretted as an Osiris look, and I was waiting for her eyes to glow. They didn't, and I was rather surprised. <<
Even though Dr. Gardner is now de-goa'ulded she still has Osiris' feelings as well as Osiris' memories. Remember how confusing that was for Sam, and Jolinar wasn't wicked.
Interesting possibilties

Personally, I enjoyed this episode. I admit that there wasn't as much action as usual, but between Sam humming the theme song and Teal'c's fondness for donuts I liked the humor of the episode
. It was also nice to see a little off-base action (no pun intended). Although, as much as it was nice to see Sam happy with a boyfriend who doesn't die, I kinda wish he had...yes, I am a bit of a Sam/Jack shipper.
I think that this episode was one of the best of the season. Its nice to see Carter get some action. Amanda looks pretty hot in this episode. Also I thought it was funny when she was in the elavator with Jack, singing the theme song!
Teal'c and his donuts.
I've been following Stargate since they were in showtime and this is the first episode that the ending was really disappointing. I can't believe that Sam would reveal the details of the Stargate to a police officer. Sam's father was a colonel in the air force and he didn't have enough clearance to know what Sam was doing. I thought Sam would've been upset that he was checking up on her. Also, why was he taken to the cheyenne infirmary, why not the hospital?
First off, good ep. Pete is the freakin man! Maybe now all the stupid Jack/Sam threads can die and burn in hell!! And since he now knows about the Stargate, he's gonna be around for a loooooong time, w00t.
Good humor too. Teal'c was funny with the doughnuts, Daniel acting sleepy all the time was hilarious(like during the breakfast scene, his eye squinting was hilarious!), and Jack had some good lines too.
Glad to see an end to the Osiris storyline. Now Sarah can fade off into the sunset, maybe as Danny's girlfriend?(since she knows everything)
I give it ***
Frankly, I loved this episode. Not as much action, but it had interesting character development. I liked Sam's new flame a hell of a lot, he was interesting. I'm sure the Sam/Jack shippers will hate him, but nevertheless. The other things in the episode are also interesting, and I absolutely *adored* some of the humor in this episode. My opinion: 9/10.
I loved the episode. My favorite parts:
~jack and sam in the elevator
~tealc with the donuts
~daniel and tealc lifting weights!!!
~sam getting some action at a 50 year anniversary
Why didn't Pete die
He really messes up the sam/jack situation. No offense to him, but Pete should have just died.
How much did I hate this episode---Let me count the ways. Well, I won't. It would take too long. But I will say a couple of (actually four) things.
(1) Daniel and Sarah. TOOO much time was spent delving into Daniel's memory and mind. The writers should have spent part of the time getting the gould out, etc. That story line went on and on but ended too abruptly. The idea was really good but not developed or handled well.
(2) Sam and Pete. I will admit it - I am a shipper. However, I wouldn't mind Sam getting a boyfriend IF he were more of a class act and not a stalker that has to keep tabs on a new girlfriend. He also seemed like a boy-toy, rather than a real boyfriend. And if he is just a boy-toy, would someone please TELL me why he had to know about the gate? I expected Carter to get someone that would be real competition for Jack, not some insecure guy.
(3) The episode is way too "Jack-lite." The best thing about Stargate has been O'Neill's character and how he interacts with the others and handles situations. If the show continues this way, after all these years, I am losing interest real fast.
(4) Carter, who is usually gorgeous even in a black t-shirt, looked like a slut.
I don't know who picked the clothes out - but rather than dressing like Nicole Kidman or Halle Barry, she dressed like Anna Nicole Smith.
I really liked this episode...8/10. I was pretty hyped anyway when I saw Sarah/Osiris in the previews, blowing up trucks 'n stuff. ![]()

The ending was kinda quick in a sense, I was on the edge of my seat expecting Osirus to get away after she blew up the Van(where the Jamming device was). Even after she got shot with the tranquilizer I woulda thought she woulda hit her device and beam outta there.
QUOTE
I suspect that the jammer, like most radio transmitters, blocks an area in a circle around the transmitter(van), It wasn't until Osiris destroyed the van that she would have been able to use the transporter remote on her hand-device. That is why she smiled when the van blew up and was moving to press her remote button.... when she was shot in the back with the tranquilizer dart.

I liked the Daniel/Sarah/Osiris thing, but thought that the ending could have been done a lot better. I dont know if this has been said but.... Osiris had a personal defence shield, so she knew that the weapons they would have wernt likely to penetrate it.

Osiris/Daniel
Loved the whole tablet dream thing, bc in dreams you can't read, you just "know" what nonsense symbols mean (proven thing, if you can make out real words in a dream it wakes you up).
But daniel wasn't really dreaming, he was being memory probed, hence the endless tired.
To me the tablet was like when you're in a dream and somebody hands you a mango and suddenly you're driving a car. It's a key, not a real tablet (or mango or car). There's probably no tablet, it was just a metaphor. Hence no address to "translate" and no gate address, in numbers or words. Osiris was just hoping the metaphor would trigger Daniel's hidden memories.
(Getting a real scorpius/harvey/john crichton vibe here. Miss farscape back before it went all wonky.)
I caught the evil look too from Sara, and I'm betting her natural curiosity about the ancient world, her passion for things ancient, and her memories from Osiris of the world that union opened for her would turn her.
That would be cool. It would be the first time a human (one that wasn't brainwashed by "the children of the gods") chose to adopt goauld morals, a complete 180 to the goauld in "fallout" which chose to adopt human morals. Yes. Very interesting possibilities.
Sam/Pete/Jack
Thanks to whomever noted the deluise thing. I recognized it in his face but hadn't bothered to check ep. credits yet. How funny. Is there a member of that family that hasn't been in at least one ep yet?
Pete was likeable, in spite of the whole not being jack thing. The whole "have I left yet, I can't feel my legs" line sold me. Incurable romantic. Guilty as charged.
No offense to AT, I blame the army clothes, but I never noticed she had serious cleavage before this ep. She's being wasted in fatigues. No wonder she wanted a chance to wear a dress. But... she looked *far* better in the sun dress than she did "dressed up" for the date. Designers: next time, go with the little black dress without the sin-red trim. She would have killed in plain black. It says elegant and goes with her skin tone. Red doesn't.
Yes, darn it, Jack should have been more upset, especially for a guy who two eps ago needed a pep talk from teal'c at the thought he would never see carter again.
I like Jack funny, but I think RDA is going a bit over the top this season. Jack used to have moments of funny wisdom, funny anger, funny goofiness. Now it just seems like he's coming into the studio, ad libbing some sarcasm and ducking back out. (Yes, it is obvious.)
Not that I want him brooding in the aisles, but his character does not deal with pain well (take the whole premise of the series--the movie--he lost his son and accepted a suicide mission to punish himself for it). The girl of his dreams (and of his time loops and alternate universes) being happy with someone else -- even if he's truly glad she's finally happy -- should be tearing him up inside. Instead, he grieved more at leaving Laira after three months than losing carter after 7 years.
Back to my whole bad writing rant: the ship thing is unavoidable now. The writers have chosen to expose it and give it life. Make it real, and I'll go with it. Make it "okay, this episode we'll pretend that nothing has happened before" and I'm going to have to make another farscape complaint.
Anyway, pete can live, join the team, get posessed by a goauld and turn evil. I like that better than any other ending for him.
Why was he allowed to live? Because AT argued for two years to have a bf who didn't die. That's it.
Total rating 8/10, including bonus points for the stargate theme in the elevator.

QUOTE (Aesir @ Jan 31 2004, 07:09 AM)
I'm thinking it must have been an upgrade because I can remember several instances where a Goa'uld was standing perfectly still using the shield when it would have been advantageous for them to be moving away. Of course, this could have just been their arrogance and them thinking "haha, look at me I'm invincible"
I finally saw it (and read all these comments -- god a lot of people are talking about this one)
Sam - Pete
I like Pete *ducking for cover from the SJ shippers*. He was funny and didn't take himself seriously, and he can understand Sam's obsession with her job. He won't put pressure on her the way a normal boyfriend would. That being said, I hope we don't see a lot of him. I wouldn't mind occational comments about having to tell Pete that Sam is missing, but I don't want to watch a soap opera! As far as telling him, I don't think he would buy one of their generic "cover up" stories. After all, he was suspicious enough to follow Sam, so seeing a glowing-eyed alien, a "ray gun" and a weapon the size of a credit card blow up a van is probably more than they can explain away. Since they can't get him to buy a story, they have to convince him it is important enough to keep the secret. Telling him the whole truth would certainly convince him of the importance of this secret.
Humor
This is one of the first episodes this season where the humor and timing is back. "Kinky"
The whole conversation in the elevator
The look on Daniel's face when he's trying to sleep through breakfast
Teal'c comment that he's surprised Daniel could sleep at all after what he's seen (and Daniel's reaction) I've missed this humor!
Daniel-Osiris
More proof that Daniel isn't safe ANYWHERE. I know that Teal'c discovered the plot quickly, but he did have a number of clues. Daniel didn't act like he was sleeping at all, and if wasn't sleeping, it couldn't have been a dream. The dream occured on several different days and continually focused on strategically important information. A goa'uld host "guided" the dream. I think he was guessing, but better safe than sorry. If they watched and just saw Daniel dreaming, all they've done is waste some money and confirm Sam's suggestion that Daniel needs to talk to someone. If Osiris shows up -- well we got to see what they did.
I am sorry to see Osiris go! She played one awesome villian. I do, however, hope that Sarah is still going to be somewhat evil. After all, humans can be power-hungry too, so maybe Sarah found that she liked being an all-powerful god. I thought I wanted Daniel to save Sarah, but when I saw it, I was disappointed to see it. And we didn't even get one "Insolence!"
I know this is my first post, I have however been a HUGH fan of the show ever since it first aired... I HATED this episode... It seems to me as if the writers just sort of half-assed this one... The role of Sam and Pete was especially infuriating! How is it that the writers felt it was ok to let her "spill the beans" to Pete at the end?? His character wasn't particularly interesting, and I think they are trying too hard to find Sam a boyfriend, much to the displeasure of the Sam/Jack fans (I'm one myself
) I honestly hope the rest of the season doesn't turn into this, I would find myself doing something more important on friday nights....
Teal'c seemed kind of "off" this episode also...
Ok now for the things I liked...
The scene where Sam is humming the theme song was pretty funny, If you all will recall there was a similar sort of scene in the first season (I believe) where Sam and Jack were having a conversation and she made an off-handed reference about McGyver... The scene where Jack asks Daniel if he was asleep and Daniels response was great! donought scene was pretty good also
Ok that's my rant, I have been wanting to get this off my chest since last night (when I saw the episode) glad this board is around!

Another newbie here. Howdy!
I liked this episode overall. But there are very few episodes of Stargate that I don't like.

Yes I thought it was very funny that Sam was humming David Arnold's SG-1 theme. I was hoping Jack would ask "what r u humming?" And how much was Tel'c benching anyway? The 45lb plates on each side of the bar looked real, but the other 435lbs(?) plates looked faked to me. I know Chris Judge is huge but that was kind of funny since he didn't look tired @ all. Tel'c must have been doing a warm-up set before his initial workout. Great Episode. Thanks.

I love this episode. Sam humming the theme song...lol.
How do they even know that there is a theme song? Carter and Sarah looked hot in this ep. Its good that Osiris is dead now. The bad part of this episode is about the whole thing of Sam and Pete. Useless!!! There should have been more scenes about the Lost City, Teal'c and his doughnuts, and Jack's jealousy.
Those DeLuise boys...good looking, sweet, charming, funny.
Pete is an excellent balance for Sam. I liked him alot. Now that the curse is broken I hope it stays that way. Pete could be treated much like Cassie or even Mark. You know he's there but you don't actually have to see him too often. Just the occasional reference will do. And by showing Sam having a life outside of the SGC it implies that the other characters do as well. As evidenced by the chat Sam and Jack had about past relationship difficulties because of the secret nature of their work.
This lack of a "civilian" life has always struck me as a bit of a hole in the series and I like how the writer's were able to basically fill it with this one episode. It was by no means perfect but it was enjoyable to see a story thinking "outside the gate", especially at this late stage in the game.
And Teal'c as a dream interpreting guru...gotta love that. ![]()

Anti-shippers have had valid concerns that any development of the Jack-Sam relationship would have turned SG-1 from the best Sci-Fi show into just another soap opera.
It seems ironic that Chimera turned SG-1 into a soap opera with the apparent suspension or even ending of J/S ship. IMHO far too much of the show was devoted to Carter thinking about, planning and having an active sexual relationship with the latest DeLuise boy (nepotism rules). I don't watch SG-1 to wonder if AT/SC will pop out of her dress (we have the Super Bowl for that).
Although the events in Grace clearly precipitated Carter's need for an active sex life outisde of the SCG, surely they did not change the National Security Act. Pete, fully aware that he was intruding upon Carter "at work" and knowing her work was top secret, popped up during the action to say "Hi". Next week I suppose Carter will pop in to say "Hi" to Pete while he he breaking down a door during his latest drug-bust. It begs the question "Why wasn't Pete arrested for his less than professional stupidity instead of being initiated into the Stargate Family?"
To date, Carter had always been a terrific female role model and kudos to AT for her achievement but if she wants to expand her "skills" by playing a giggly sex object, surely she could get a role in some movie of the week or a soap opera during off-season?
I will confess to a serious SG-1 addiction (Season 1-6 anyway) but feel that Season 7 has been patchy at best. The characters of Sam, Daniel, and Teal'c work best when O'Neill is around. Without O'Neill's multi-dimensional character, the others lose their sparkle. In "Grace" it was Carter's subconscious that believed that O'Neill was "not that complicated" and not the real O'Neill admitting to being simple, he is the most complicated of all the characters.
Overall, Chimera hit rock bottom with its plot line and sheer waste of screen time (showing Carter's off-duty wardrobe....when I saw those sandals I thought she must have picked up some of the Goa'uld's OTT dress style during her travels in the known universe...Nirrti comes to mind).
While SG-1 fans can debate forever whether Jack and Sam should "get together", I don't think any of us want to have another episode of Sam's night out. It did nothing to move the Sci-Fi story along and was so full of plot holes the script was leaking. Are we to supposed to assume Osisris came alone in her ship so that no-one missed her when she failed to return (this is similar to Fall-Out when Baal did not act after his "spy" failed to check in even after worry was expressed that he might). Did Daniel's neighbours actually sleep throught the shooting and the van exploding? Were they evacuated by the local police? If so, did Pete cross the police line?
I can only imagine that there was one reason for the poor episode......most likely it was very inexpensive to produce. Let's hope the money they saved was used to improve the remaining episodes in Season 7.

I really did not understand it either. Why bother if sam wants a sex life she has a husband for that. The halter tops were a bit much. What is she doing are the writers just want to see more of her, have never seen such a turn around from a pretty good show, enjoyable to watch. I think also scifi not lust. Jack and her it was a light romance. If they wanted this to carry on all it takes is a transfer. Sam could be head of the science dept.still travel off world all this stuff is not real anyway. The worst part I was watching this with my granddaughter and all this came on I was disapointed. For what it is worth they had a good thing going its coming to a close anyway. They should have keep it going, is it true first step is friendship, dating, the building blocks of love not lust. Anybody could have lust.
Come on. Well very disapointed friendship almost always leads to love. Her make up was not nessary.
I"m sorry I went out the week before and bought sets 1-5. Why I don;t know....
I do not like season 7.....this could have been a great ending much better than Star-Trek...........
I didn't really like it. It was too predictable. And know it SG-1 feels like a soap opera. I'm giving it 1/10.

One of the frequent complaints about this episode is Pete being told about the SGC. But Pete's a pretty observant guy. After what he had seen outside Daniel's house, I doubt he would have bought any cover story that the SGC could have cooked up. In fact a cover story probably would have led him to investigate things on his own and that would be more of a security risk than telling him the truth. Just call him Pete
Mulder.
And while I still agree it's a bit questionable that he was told, it's also not without precedent. Cadet Hailley was told about the program in the season 4 ep Prodigy based solely on Sam's recommendation. Yes she was in the USAF and she was very smart but she also had discipline problems, a bad attitude, no respect for authority, had nearly gotten the boot, etc. Hardly a canidate for top level clearance. And if Sam's motivating gambit had failed all that would have prevented Hailley from talking about what she had seen was her signature on a nondisclosure form.
So in the inevitable discussion with General Hammond about the "what to tell Pete" situation Sam's recommendation/judgement would have been given considerable merit. And if she had been told to sell him a cover story, she would have. I'm glad she didn't have to do that.
If I remember correctly, Cadet Hailley was a brillant young military scientist (who identified a mistake in Carter's overly complex blackboard calculations). This is what brought her to Carter's attention (we did not discover whether Hailley was a really good kisser).
Carter believed that Hailley had great potential and a possible future in the Stargate Program. Hailley's story has no real parallel with Pete's. Her potential value to the Stargate program was the key or should we assume that Hammond will add a Denver cop to an SG team as soon as a position becomes available?
Carter promised Pete that she would tell him everything while they were lying on the hill together (rather than her bed) and, unless I missed it, she did not disscuss the matter with either her CO or General Hammond before she made the promise. O'Neill was just across the street but he did step inside the house and leave a very dangerous Goa'uld lying in the street to get help for the nosy Pete who shouldn't have been there in the first place.
The only valid comparison is with Carter's dad prior to his blending. She could not tell him anything even though he was on his deathbed nor did she make any rash promises (such as I'll tell you everything if you get through this next round of chemo!).
Since Pete will remain at best a peripheral character with nothing to add to the Sci-Fi component it really seemed rather a pointless exercise unless the "S" in SG-1 in now representing "soap". We could have learned Carter was dating (and having really good sex) without all the extended dating screen time. The Daniel/Sarah story was much stronger and surely their reunion should have been the climax and final scene? How many seasons has Daniel being trying to recover Sarah from Osiris? For a series that more often than not leaves out such clich? final scenes, it was disappointing that this episode should have ended the way it did.
Lastly, when Carter informed her "soon to be dead dad" about what she did at the office, Hammond was in the room. The signing of non-disclosures does not guarantee that anyone will not sell their story to the newspapers it merely deters this by reminding the individual who sign it that they will be in big trouble afterwards. Non-disclosures should also be signed before the secrets are revealed. If this is how Hammond runs the Stargate Program, letting his staff tell all to really new sleeping partners, then Senator Kinsey should hurry up and relieve him of command now rather than wait until the Lost City Part 1.
This was a really sloppy story without any real attention to plot or details. Although presumably meant to be the "B" storyline it expanded until it detracted from the real focus of the episode (and the excellent performances by MS and AP). Carter had been such a terrific character until now, it was sad to see her lose her professional and military mind as soon as she got herself a guy. As O'Neill might say "this is SO not like you Carter."
For six years Sam put her military career above everything and everyone, including her supposed secret love for Jack. Now - in Season 7 - the first time that we see her get a boyfriend - she chooses to ignore her responsibility to keep military secrets "secret" just so she can please someone she barely knows. I think this makes her character look pathetic and desperate.
With all the Tok'Rah technology out there dealing with memory, it seems like the writers would have come up with something that "fixed" Pete's memory so he wouldn't remember and Sam wouldn't need to tell him.
I watch SG-1 for the sci-fi, adventure, action, and teamwork aspect of the main players, not bone jumping. Hey, writers - Please let's get back to what made SG-1 great for six seasons!

I felt this was a good episode. It wasn't on my top 10 list, but much better than some other episodes. It was nice to see Osiris captured and removed. Perhaps Sarah will be given a job at the SGC? Maybe. maybe not. Then what will become of Pete? Will he go back to his cop job? Will he keep going out with Sam? These are very interesting developments, and should make the rest of the season an awesome experience!

You seem to have missed the point I was trying to make or I wasn't very clear. I wasn't comparing the details of Hailley's situation to Pete's. Obviously the reason for telling each was quite different. But if Sam's opinion/judgement is valued by General Hammond in one case it would be valued in the other as well. And there is no reason to doubt her integrity.

Of her own accord Sam also promised to take Five with them in Unnatural Selection. But Jack's orders were to leave him behind. Sam left him. |

Jacob may have been on his deathbed but at that point he had seen nothing that would remotely clue him in to the existence of the stargate or anything related to it. Unlike Pete who had witnessed the glowing eyed chick shooting energy bolts from her fingers. Telling Jacob would have been strictly personal and unprofessional. Telling Pete was damage control and containment.

"I promise when you make it out of here, I'll tell you everything"
When you see that line in any movie or TV episode you'll just KNOW that the person who it's said to will die.
So I was SHOCKED that the cop guy didn't die at the end of this episode and in fact got all the beans spilled against.
After the last episode I thought they were going to rip another Hollywood sci-fi flick or TV show every week (what having ripped off the likes of the X-Files, Armageddon and Independence Day before), but this gave me hope that they have some originality left and aren't sticking to Hollywood and TV cliches.
I think they should make the Stargate public knowledge in series 8, that would open up new plot possibilities (like having civilians travel to other planets and non-military groups and companies butting in on the enterprise trying to get advantage for themselves) and definetely kill the boring X-Files storylines (they still could have the NID being up to no good, after all jet planes are public knowledge but they still have secret designs, etc.)
Great that Sam has a man, but I would've like to have seen them meet for the first time, and seen a little bit of the relationship develop. To be honest, I really didn't care about them, since we didn't see them meet. It was like all of a sudden, she has a man. And Pete was ruined for me when he started stalking her to find out what she was hiding. He had no right to do that. She's in the Air Force, for crying out loud....when something is top secret, they can't tell ANYONE, no matter how much they trust them. HE should've trusted HER.
It is interesting to consider the Carter scenes in Chimera in light of past comments from AT

"My feeling is that Anise?s tiny costumes were a blatant attempt to make the show sexier, I mean look at the stories we told in the ?Upgrades?/?Divide and Conquer? arc: O?Neill and Sam finally admit their love for each other, the Tok?ra alliance is strengthened and Martouf dies. Too bad "Chimera" isn't an additional hallucination from the "Grace" episode.
WOW and UGHHH!
The Good:
The first fifteen or twenty minutes had me fooled - a half dozen great conversations, facial expressions (Danny in particular), and lines (I know they've been quoted before but their so good....):
Sam - You tired?
Daniel - Ya think?!
Sam - Maybe you should talk to someone.
Danny - I thought I was.
Sam - Colonel!
Jack - Carter.
Daniel - (yawning) Coffee...
Sam humming the theme (I know you all said it already but that was sooo awesome!)
Jack - But it is...humworthy?
(my father has already informed me that "humworthy" is the new term for standards with guys) It was clasic the moment Jack said it!
(Later in the show)
Teal'c - Knowing your past experences, I am suprised that you have slept well until now.
Danny - Thank you Teal'c, this conversation has been disturbing on, many levels.
(that was my other favorite!)
I kept waiting for Sarah's eyes to glow at the end! - too bad maybe later..

To the poster who mentioned Daniel's hair not being 'floppy' as it should have been for the timeframe in the dream. Hey, look what I found! It was covered in the scene right at the start where Daniel mentioned he'd had a weird dream: Sam: How is that weird? Daniel: Oh, things were all mixed up, my hair was different, you know... They know us so well. <g> I missed this entirely first time around because I misheard what he said and thought it was 'her hair'. Then spent the entire episode wondering what the heck he was talking about because Sarah's hair looked just the same as it always had to me! Eeesh.
It's short for "*Grins*", I think.

Sam and Pete could have had the same connversation (the one they had the next morning) sitting on the couch sipping wine, and we could have skipped the hallway and the bedroom and had three extra minutes to maybe flush out the Teal'c figuring out the dreams thing. One of the reasons that I like the series is that they didn't put that stuff in it very often and when it managed to slink in you never saw anything - they just illuded to it. - VERY DISAPOINTED!!! |
Yeah....When I finally got the ep downloaded, I just skipped over that part.
It really sucked.
The episdoe wasn't that bad. It had action, a good plot, and some intersting developments. Although the bedroom scene did seem out of place in a stargate episode, and probably should have been left out. If stargate turned into a soap, i would never watch it again. Science fiction shows should remain sci-fi shows and not all of a sudden turn into something else after 7 seasons.

My personal favorite moment... and since I'm a D/S 'shipper, this really had to be something to steal my heart... I'm so glad other folks mentioned it...
Teal'c and his donuts. Poor guy, he was so proud of himself for bringing them, and clearly miffed when nobody wanted them!!!!
Pete... ah, well. Kinda cute. I'd never date a guy who ran a background check on me, but then, she didn't know... Best I can say is that I'd prefer Jack to Pete, and Daniel to Jack. But either way, Jack or Daniel, let's keep it in the family, huh, folks?
Maybe Teal'c simply didn't get any doughnuts with sprinkles on top. I'll usually pass them up if there aren't any.
Nobody has mentioned this but that Daniel was able to "save" Sarah must have been pretty bittersweet for him. As he held her at the end he seemed to radiate a sense of sadness that it wasn't his wife he had saved.

This episode was ok I wouldn't say it was the best though
Chimera, what a joke, she falls for a guy that fits the sam description from the guy she give the ring back. Control Freak, etc. Pete is the same.
Sam Carter does not know what she wants except have affairs with as many men as she can. Jack already admitted that he has feeling for her, but yet she has not admitted that, not really. She only goes crazy when he goes missing or something happens. They have carried the Sam Carter needed boyfriend to much. They have taken away from the seven years down the tube lets just forget the relationship between Jack and Sam competely. For all they have to do is for them to transfer her from his command. She stay with the rest of the thinking nerds. They made her a person that can do everything she is perfect, knows all, etc. Give me a break. Lets give it a rest. I hope they do a better job. We hope that Pete never comes back he was a joke. Her poor dad cancer on his death bed and she could not tell him, he was a two star general again give me a break. Stop using the Jack and Carter touchie feeling. They went there but never did any thing.
Lets give this one more thought Jack and Sam should have had a secret relationship outside the base that would have been more interesting. It has been to my surpise how many people that I know, mostly the work place how unhappy they were about Pete popping up. They made Dr. Sam Carter a whore like person with the red dress, shoes and too much makeup. There are so many places they could have gone.
Score: Chimera 2/10
Oh he will be back and hoping for more screen time (hey maybe he'll be on more than RDA-but that wouldn't be difficult)

The Osiris resolution annoyed me. It disproved my theory. Damn them.
My theory:
Sarah is Sif, Norse goddess of fertility and wife of Thor. She has the right colour hair for starters. There is a myth about her and Loki. Loki sneaked into her bedroom one night and cut of her hair as a prank. Now, we know Loki is a geneticist of the Asgard. We also know that the Asgard don't have any hair. Perhaps the myth refers to Loki turning Sif from what she was, into the short grey, hairless Asgard we'd expect. As the myth goes, Thor was angry about this and threatened to give him a wack of Mjollnir unless he sorted things out, so he went to the caves of the dwarfs and got them to weave some new hair for her. Now, this could refer to making her a new body, probably Ancient. She then went to hide on Earth for a while and got to doing stuff. It would explain why she's such a prolific archeologist.
There's also other stuff. We know that the Ancients had superior skills of healing. Perhaps, she could control Osiris. If this is the case, it would explain a few things about 'Revelations'. First, why Thor seemed to be the only one who got off his ship. He was going to meet her. She's infiltrating Anubis to find some pesticide technology. It was also explain why she didn't kill O'Neill and Teal'c and why she made it so easy for them to escape.
But I guess I was wrong. It would have been cool though.
Just couldn't help thinking as I watched this epi how fetching Pete would look in a red shirt...hmmm...paint a bullseye on the boy's arse and be done with it, I say

This episode despite the whole sam/pete icky romance stuff, was pretty well done. Loved the one part where sam and Teal'c join Daniel (who has his head resting on his arms) in the commissary - he does the best facial expressions there (glaring at sam, etc) hehe
Now the Sam/pete uh... 'love scene' in her hallway, well i think that was un-needed. the show hasnt had that and i liked it that way, because although it's been hinted at or whatever in past episodes, there has always been that fine line that was never crossed. Like someone else said in their post for this episode... i dont want stargate to become a soap opera... i mean in seasons 6&7 we see Sam cry waaaaay more then the other seasons all put together.
anyways, good episode, good idea, bad sam/pete stuff ew
~~the very young do not always do as they are told ~~
Regarding the stalking element. I was reading some bits and pieces recently of interviews with AT and producers and found it interesting that they all said the same thing in so many words. Namely: "Sam likes Pete. (pause) Of course, Sam, doesn't know yet about all the checking up he did on her..."
A hint perhaps for S8? ![]()

Daniel was able to get sarah back. Hopeful something will happen between them two. With sam and pete, i cant beleave that she sleep with that jurk.after all he did get some one to look into her back round cheak. He had the nerve to do that to her and to follow her around like he did. I don't think Jack was happy about it. One thing thou is why wasnt there any alams going off if some one out side of the SGC trying to find onfo on some one from the SGC. I think that there should of been some thing. One thing we dont know and that is, Is pete married and not telling Sam about it.
I think Sam should be with Jack not Pete
I like this one enough to watch it when SciFi repeats it. Which it recently did. So I watched.
Pete has certainly generated some controversy. But what I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is that he saved Sam's life or at the very least saved her from another serious injury. The mildly questionable background check aside, this earns him points in my estimation.
Ok on the third break of the re-run on Sky One and all Pete is doing this time is driving me crazy, he's even more annoying this time around! This episdes is great especially the Osiris thing which kinda was over shadowed by the whole Pete thing the first time round but now i am beginning to understand the storyline alot better!!
Pete must die!!!
I just watched it again and I've decided I quite like it. Sure I want to rip Pete's head off (what kind of a shipper would I be if I didn't?) but, at the beginning of the episode anyway, he's not that bad. Obviously my feelings towards him have changed slightly now...*grumbing* how does he dare treat Sam like that...
I loved the Daniel and Sarah storyline, and Teal'c with his donuts- his face cracked me up when no one wanted one, he looked so disappointed!
And the whole 'Sam and Pete in the doorway thing'...er....I don't think that was really needed. It's a family show isn't it?

i thought this was a very good episode. i always liked when they added Dr. jacksons ex-girlfriend in episodes. i didnt see her once in season 6. it was a great way to end her role on stargate by surviving.
jack and sam need to be together.... they have denied there love for each other for years now... ether get together or give it up.
i am glad sam acually is out of the sgc for a change... and has a boy friend
My two cents:
I was not happy that this episode was the first episode in a long time where I had to skip. My eight year old sister was watching, and I'm just thankful I have TiVo or mom would have had to answer some questions. As it is, I had a hard time convincing her that I was going to skip some of the episode.
Pete gets more and more annoying upon re-watching. He's a bozo, but he's sweet and a charmer. We've seen Sam fall for that type before(Capt. Hansen, First Commandment), and you could put Jack in the "Sweet and a charmer" category. So I made up a game for people who dislike Pete.
-----------------------------
1) Get several socks out of your drawer and roll them into balls. Place them next to you on the couch.
2) When Pete comes onscreen, throw them at the telivision. Scoring is as follows:
Pete's head: 5 points
Pete: 3 points
Pete and Sam kissing: 2 points
TV screen when Pete's on it: 1 point
Sam or another member of SG-1: -2 points
Note: It's best to have someone else score this, or the scorer won't have much of a chance to throw. Also, the scorer acts as a ref. He/she is the final arbiter of where you hit, so it's good for him/her to be impartial.
-----------------------------
I'm happy Sam got laid. Good for her. I wouldn't make that choice, but she did and it's hers to make. I just wish it wasn't Pete who was doing the laying.
I was very happy with the Daniel/Osiris storyline. The dreams creeped me out, especially when we saw Osiris, leaning over Daniel in the dark. For me, the whole Sam/Pete storyline overshadowed the Daniel/Osiris storyline, but maybe that's because I'm a shipper
I like that cater can find some one . but I was hoping that carter & jack get together. where is link to pic to skyone?
Sam's boyfriend didn't die? Did the writers screw up? LOL
It was nice to see!
Good quote too,
"Chicks with glowing eyes and laser beam rings are classified"
Way to go Pete!
Whoa! I don't think I've ever had so many questions/comments after watching an episode, so apologies if this turns into a looonng post!
Sara/Osiris/Daniel plot:
Well, I liked Sarah before so I'm glad they brought Anna-Louise Ploughman back again. But, personally, I think this story-line got way too little screen-time. It could have easily made a whole ep on its own and it felt a little 'underdone' as it was.
As such, there are a lot of questions left to answer, alot of which have been mentioned already so I wont go into too many details...
How did they get the Goa'uld out of Sarah and what happened to it? How much can Sarah remember of the time while she was a host (she obviously remembers some of it), and could any information she does remember be of any use? What is going to happen to Sarah? She knows about the SGC and the Stargate now so surely she'd be a great addition to the team, especially as we seem to be losing a few recurring characters at the moment. Plus her and Daniel are great together!
How the hell did they keep Daniel's neighbours quiet? Or had the area been evacuated? Gunfire, they could cover up. You could even assume that people didn't actually see Sarah's eyes glow. But firing laser blasts at people? That's gonna be hard to cover up!!
And what about the ship that is somewhere in orbit around Earth? Isn't it a bit disconcerting to know that it's been hanging around there for a few days and nobody even knew it was there?!? For all we know there could be a fleet of motherships surrounding the planet right now!!! And were there other Jaffa/Goa'uld on board? If not, then there's still a ship floating around, and if there were then they are going to know Osiris isn't coming back and are going to go spill back to Anubis, who is going to work out she's not coming back eventually anyway!
As for the Sam/Pete story-line:
Sorry guys, on first impressions I'm not overly keen. And it's not just because I'm a S/J shipper. I went into this ep with an open mind ready to take Pete as he came and see what I thought, but he just seemed....slimy (and he actually whined!)
. If I was Sam I'd be so pi**ed at him for following me...and on that note, how did he know to follow that van, which presumably left the SGC with them all inside it and therefore NOT visible to anybody who happens to be hanging around waiting for his girlfriend to reappear after he folowed her there. I hope Sam finds out he did a b/g check on here and kicks his ass good and proper! He admitted his work was his life but wouldn't accept that from Sam, and expected her to tell him stuff she's not allowed to even though as a cop he must understand the idea of 'classified'.
Sam/Jack story-line:
Yeah, like the rest of you I loved the scene in the lift - although I did feel a little sorry for Jack. But there's another scene that I'm surprised hasn't really been mentioned much - when Jack is finding out about the plan from Sam and asks her 'How's Pete?'. I think this was one of the best scenes in the episode because of all the different emotions involved. Jack is curious about Sam/Pete, but I took it to be in a supportive/friendly way (ie not just being nosy!), which was sweet. He's also genuinely happy for her that she's happy, and equally sad for her when she tells him, as she thinks, that it hasn't worked out - despite having feelings for her himself. I just thought it was done really well, and that the scene needed to be there to show that whatever is happening elsewhere, they are still going to function together as friends/SG-1. Although it was only a small scene, I think the episode would have felt wrong if it hadn't been there. There would have been a hole.
So, sorry for the long post! Consider any questions I have asked to be rhetorical as most have already been dealt with...except this one. People have mentioned a 'hallway' scene between Sam and Pete...what scene was that? In the C4 version here in the UK, Pete and Sam were talking in bed (
), he got up and started getting dressed, and the next scene was him walking to his car putting on his shoes. Was something cut out in the middle? If so, I'd be grateful if someone could fill in the blanks!
This should have been a Sam and Jack episode or even a Jack and Sam episode!!! I DONT wanna see Sam with a NONE-O'NEILL. I think this is shipper hell... like the 3rd level or something.
but i do like the fact that Sarah's back and Daniel's no longer alone.
Unusual episode, that's for sure. But historically speaking the shippiness of a series is expressed better when there is an outsider, a new charmer.
I liked how this change have provoked O'Neill to break the silence and go fish for information about the new charmer, even though the whole thing makes him uncomfortable.
I think i liked that she found someone to have some fun and perhaps to add some further plot when her feelings are split between the two.
Overall i think that this will push J&S closer eventually....
i didn't like this episode much pete was in it thats why i didn't like it.
This is one of the very few stargate episodes I don't intend to re-watch much. Which is a shame, because I didn't think the Daniel/Sarah/Osiris plot was that bad.
Unfortunately it was completely overshadowed by the Sam/Pete thing. I'll freely admit to being an S/J shipper, but that wasn't why Pete annoyed me. I would have found him irritating, even if he hadn't been Sam's 'love interest' (and I find that he gets more annoying with repeated viewing!). But, honestly, the background check was the last straw....And then he gets rewarded for his snooping by (IMO unjustified) knowledge of the SGC. If Sam has to have a boyfriend other than Jack for the moment, then someone like Agent Barrett would have been a much better choice
As to the hallway/bedroom scenes-I feel that they could have got the same point across with a much more edited version (if they had to do it that way at all). Hint at it and leave the rest to our imagination. I'm not being a prude or anything. Those scenes just felt out of place on Stargate. The only comparison I can think of is Brief Candle and you have to wonder why the writers didn't touch on physical relationships in that way in the intervening 5 seasons (and the Jack/Kynthia scenes in BC were far more directly related to the main plot).
Edit: I really couldn't see any on-screen chemistry between AT & DD. I know that the anti-S/J shippers & no-romos have been saying that forever about AT & RDA
Sorry, rant over.
a Little weired of and epi
kinda slow and strange i think the writers were out of ideas at this point
i took them 7 seasons to show any one dating
if i wanted to see that i would have stayed home to watch the boob toob and wathc a soap opera
What is going to happend with Sarah, is the character that played her desided to leave the show is that why they ended Osiris? I would really like to see a sequel to this eposide, that it shows what Shara saw and went through when she was a host to Osiris, or at least have an eposide that involves Sarah in it somehow.
Yes the actor that plays her did not want to have to keep commuting between the UK and Vancouver, B.C. Canada. So they wrote her out this way. She is gone.
Just started watching the episode on Hulu, and spotted a bit of a goof right at the beginning, when Pete asks Sam to go to the zoo with him, and she replies that "there is no zoo in Colorado Springs."

I only knew about this because I was recently reading the Wikipedia entry on Cheyenne Mountain.
Anyway, back to watching the episode...
