This was a Daniel ep. through and through. Carter was in it for like 10 seconds and Jack and Teal'c had minor roles.
I thought it was a decent ep., certainly an upgrade from last weeks ep. And Chaka looked really swift in those clothes he was wearing. And I'm guessing Chaka can understand some English.
That colonel was a dick cause he kept wanting to shoot first, ask questions later. Good thing he didn't at the end or he would've been killed like ten times over. Three cheers for Daniel for saving his ass.
I give this ep. 2 1/2 stars. Hope to see more of Carter and jack in next ep.
Awesome, another new episode of Stargate SG1 aka "The Michael Shanks Hour"
This episode made me think of Dances with Wolves and what Chief Ten Bears said about the white people would just "keep coming" - change is inevitable.
In the end the Unas on that world would have be driven out so Earth could get their precious metal, but lookie what actual diplomacy can get you instead of conquest (are you listening Mr. Bush?).The scene with the Unas chief and Chaka was nice, although one wonders if the chief didn't think Chaka was a "humanized" Unas slave and scorn him at first.
Gee, hardly any screen time for Sam
(it's ok Amanda, baby, the 2 minutes we had together were my favorite
)
My favorite line was from Jack - "Daniel, go to your happy place."
Also it was good to see Michael Rooker again. Some may remember him from "Days of Thunder" and that Stallone movie "Cliffhanger". My favorite role he played was "Henry: Portrait of a serial killer"
Yeah it was good to see Rooker in this episode. I think he portrayed the "stubborn colonel" pretty good. Daniel and chaka together was good to see again, Chaka does look pretty cool now.
I guess having an hour of Michael Shanks is better than having no Shanks at all. Although i do like how he interacts with the rest of the team rather than him going solo as in most of this episode. Anyways its still nice to see more of him.
Hopefully we will get to see more of everyone at the same time in the upcoming episodes. As with these unas episodes, i think we've had enough of them or atleast until we resolve some other storylines.
Wow. Michael Shanks leaves for a season, comes back and gets plenty of face time. I'm not complaining, just observing. We have an Amanda Tapping takes a week off episode. . . actually they were probably shooting future episodes with her while this episode was being put together.
The SGC save their bullets for the Goa'uld from what I gather but we also get a progress report on the F-302 and F-303. . . we can't make them without the Naquida.
Actually, this seemed to be Daniel and Teal'c mostly. RDA showed up a little, Amanda even less. Not only is this promotion for daniel but also for SG-1, and the fact that they're the best team, even when split up.
However, what I notice is: Is it just me or is "CHAKAH" getting more and more human looking everytime we see him. The rest of the unas were fine, I'm just taling about daniels good buddy.
Lifeboat was a showcase ep for MS and his"talent".
But this was a showcase for Daniel and was much better for it. Daniel's interaction with the Unas has always been great and this was no exception.
What bothered me from the beginning was the military/Pentagon attitude. It was the old colonial attitude of "I claim this planet, all its riches and people for Earth" rearing its ugly head. Just because the naquadah mine was viable didn't give them the right to force the Unas to cooperate, move or die. As Daniel said, "We're the invaders."
While the Colonel in charge of the mining operation was ok, he was no Jack. These Jack-Light eps are getting pretty light. And I think this is the first time Carter has only had one scene and a throw away one at that. That surprised me.
And yes, I think Chaka was looking very smooth and more human. No rough edges.
First of all i think this was an excellent episode, good episode for Daniel to show what he was made of. Really brought back the Daniel we all know and love. One major flaw, though, was that there was not enough Jack and Sam, Jack was in it for 10-15 minutes and Sam was in it all of 1 minute, not that i'm against an episode centering around Daniel, don't get me wrong, i just like seeing all of SG-1 and not 1.5/4 of it the whole time. I would have liked the team to actually communicate with each other as well as the Unas.
Also, i noticed one thing that i'm sure that somebody else had to notice.......the Unas were speaking French, no kiddding. When the Unas said what Daniel translated as "what" he said: "quel" or "quelle" which is "what" in French. Coincidence?.........i think not.
the eps was good but we dont see Sam for 30 Sec only
i think this is the best unas episode yet, i enjoyed it a lot. hope to see more of jack a little later on in the series though...
A decent episode, I guess. It was the first one this season that I only watched once. (I usually catch the repeat as well.) But I was never a fan of the Unas, so maybe that had something to do with it.
my favorite parts of the ep were when sg-1 showed up on the planet and daniel started to freak out about the miners moving artifacts. being an anthropology/archeology major, i completely understand. finds like that should be treated sort of like a crime scene and nothing should be moved until proper documentation of the area has been done. but i enjoyed the "happy place" comment...hehehe
the second set of scenes i liked where the campfire scenes. they showed the liguistic side of daniel and his ability to bring two different peoples together. fabulous.
my only quibble about the ep would be the lack of the other team members. i miss the fun interaction!!! hope it is back for the next ep!!!
I like to see Daniel taking control. I give this episode 2 thumbs up!!
Too much about the Unas but ya it was the better of them. Can we now move on to an ep that is more relavent to the current story line??
great episode.. I do beleave this episode is current to the time line. The air force needs ships, weapons, and power supplies. The thing that is in the mine is what they need to do so in a large quanity(sp).
great action, although it was another danny boy episode. Hmmm just a thought, I think the D.J. was nessary(sp) to have more episode to explan how much experiance he had gain by the "Ascension". D.J. may become more of a leader in smaller missions or shows that might break off of SG1, just the make D.J. the star(not saying M.S. will continue being d.J.).
Getting back to the Current time line. S.G. teams 1/12 have also just found a large group of Unas to mine. They are also strong allies ot fight the Goa'uld.
ARMIES A Massing for the humans hehehe big Action
I wouldn't put it past the producers if they save the final showdown for a block buster movie...
I haven't seen "Enemy Mine" yet, but i will edit my post reply after i have watched it and tell you what i thought of it.
Well I didnt like this episode much, I think its the worst I've seen in the series yet, but it was still ok. Why I didnt like it as much as the others? well I guess its because not a lot happened, the story itself wasnt too interesting and the acting/action in it wasnt as enjoyable to watch as previous episodes. If i was to rate it I guess 5/10 would be fair, because it wasnt terrible, it wasnt great either.
Well i have to say that "Enemy Mine" was a good episode, i liked the negoations between Daniel and the unas, also liked when the unas attack SGC teams, over all a good unas episode, probably the best unas episode i have seen.
I also have to say that all the episodes in Season 7 have been good so far, looks like we ar ein for a good season.
I liked this episode a lot. They don't all have to be full of sci-fi cliches such as ships and technobabble or big explosion but something thoughtful like this. It really showed us why Daniel is still on the team. Note: I really enjoy the technobabble and fights so don't rule them out yet.
i like daniels expression when iron shirt said all the tribes will unite.
kinda like the indian scout that told custer that there were more indians than he had bullets
Another Daniel episode, they must think we miss him alot
Sam Carter was only in it for a minute, and Jack was only in it for the first 10 minutes or so. Tealc didnt really have much to say, so in a way more of a Daniel episode than last week. It was also miles better, although the theme of stupid untrustworthy superior and slowly realising that Sg1 is right has been played out many times before (one of them was Season 4 Chain reation when the new commanding officer realised Carter is right all along).
Anyway, Unas is not a favourite storyline for me but nevertheless it is quite good even though the plot had been doen before. Chaka as a liason is a good addition (is that the same actor?) although he looks slightly different than before. The language barrier... I guess if all humans speak English then I guess all Unas speak er... Unas-ness? (no, I'm not sneasing!).
I am surprise about the negotiation, the Unas will mine the n'aquida for us? Impressive. I am also surprise that Hammond would agree to force the native off their planet - I guess under orders from the Pentagon but still...
One other thing... I wish Daniel was wrong for once... it could so easily have gone the other way.
I liked the episode...I really like the Unas language. Its fun to repeat. Anyhow, I'm kinda getting annoyed at the excuses to get Jack out of the picture. "Jack has been abducted by the Asgard"..."Jack has been knocked unconscious"..."Jack hurt his arm".... just STUPID things like that. Bleh. I wish they could come up with something mroe significant for his absence. Anyhow, overall it was good.

They could've done that in 5 mins and have 55 mins for a real story. Sorry bur I was forcing myself to watch this ep only cause I like SG. C'mon I wanna see some real battles in space or new enemies or something or crying out aloud.
Great Episode.
Perhaps it is the greatest episode that stargate ever had. It its related to the current political situation, it transmits a moral message to the people and it had realy great acting. This coul'd have been one of the best Star Trek Episodes, but it did work for Stargate aswell. stargate normaly is more about action so it was realy great to see an inteligent story line made up. Than I liked that peole from other planets did actualy not speak english this time, one of the advantages of having daniel on board.
So, maybe ther was no action, and much talking scenes, but that is what a good story is all about.
It took a lot of guts for Ironshirt to walk down alone into the camp. Even if the Unas had the soldiers outnumbered twenty to one, he had to have known they could kill him.
I liked the look on Daniel's face when the colonel said, "O'Neill was right about you. You are a real pain in the ass...but well worth it." That was a picture.

| Awesome, another new episode of Stargate SG1 aka "The Michael Shanks Hour" |
I think this one is my favorite of the season so far. It nice to see Chaka all dressed up. I heard next time Daniel takes him to a black tie affair and has to get him into a Tuxedo.
Definately a Daniel episode. Nice to see the Americans did not learn from the Indians. They were going to screw another race out of their lands cause that's what we need.
I personaly like the fact that RDA was in it except minimally. The constant smartass comments have looong since gotten boring. I like the subtler humor involved with Daniels antic. "It will take as long as it takes!"
Enemy Mine was really good. I loved the 'Daniel go to your happy place' scene.
okay
BTW, has anyone seen the movie Enemy Mine? The resemblance is close to Unas. Butt-ugly
Hey, its the Daniel Jackson happy hour!!! That man sure knows how to negotiate and prevent war...
Shame that there doesn't seem to be a man like Daniel Jackson in GW Bush's present staff. They ALL seem to think like that ass of a colonel- "fire guns, sort stuff out later"! ![]()
But getting back to the ep- I jus knew that O'Neill was gonna get injured somehow so that he wouldn't have to stay in the next half hour of the episode! I was surprised to see AT with a tiny, tiny role- but generally, even though I adore those characters- it was great to see "yet another" Daniel Jackson episode!! The Unas are soooh cool! I'm real pleased they brought them back. And I actually really appreciated the language spoken more- I understood some words as Daniel kept translating to himself/ for the audience! ![]()
But its like, "Well, you guys moaned sooh much about DJ disappearing for the last season, so we'll just put him in front of the camera for the majority of the next season and see how that fares..."
But seriously, if I see another ep with no Sam, and no Jack- I think I'll go insane! Where have all the "team" episodes gone to? (However, I am hopeful that the writers will restore my faith in them as the season progress!)
Ok..to those of you who are complaining about RDA not being in these episodes lately...we all knew this was going to happen, but it's something that is necessary so he can use the days he's on set to work on other, more action packed eps as well.
I did think it was funny when he was complaining to the nurse to "go away" and acting in pain...but then acts like he's fine when Carter shows up...then goes back to being in pain when she leaves.
This episode was about diplomacy, so there was really not a lot use for Carter. At least they recognized that immediately and let her go work on her off camera "science project". I would rather have characters who aren't really needed for a story not be there, as opposed to having them just hang around and doing practically nothing for an entire ep. I mean, look what happened to Teal'c...what did HE get to do?
In fact, I think what would've made this even more interesting would've been the following scenario:
Jack gets hurt..stays behind
Carter works on project, stays behind.
Teal'c get hurt...stays behind
Daniel goes back to planet with Chaka to negotiate, then a group of Unas attack and force the SGC people away from the gate and the mine...Now Daniel and Chaka have to negotiate a peace with Iron Shirt before Hammond decides to send reinforcements through and all out fight breaks out. Meanwhile, the other Colonel is arguing w/Daniel about who's in charge and threatens to attempt to re-take the gate against a bunch of very angry Unas....and Daniel's got no one to back him up except Chaka.
What surprised me is that you would think that Hammond would've learned his lesson after the ep "Spirits", in which they tried to mine naquada against the wishes of an Indian tribe..and then has their "guardian spirits" come through the gate and start making SGC people disappear until Daniel admits they were wrong. Talk about short memories...
For me the best part was when Iron Shirt mentioned something about "the other tribes", and suddenly the balance tipped from the SGC people being the agressors to being outnumbered. I think the phrase "Oh...sh*t" could sum it up nicely.
I really enjoyed seeing Daniel in his "element" more than what he did in "Lifeboat". I also like the little reminder of how well O'Neill knows Daniel when the younger man started fuming about the relics being moved..."Daniel...go to your happy place."
Great episode! It turned atound 180? suddenly! From one man getting lost, to chasing the Unas after DJ seing a joch
, suddenly peace after Daniel speaks a few words in the unas tongue, the negotiations and finally the big tribe-unition-thingie-surrounding of the SG-troups! Just great! If I hadn?t known that it was near the end I?d have thought the other curnel would screw it up!
Just one thing intrigues me: How would you describe a space ship to Iron-Shirt?
I LOVED this episode., for a bunch of reasons. One, even tho I miss the full team, I love the focus on Daniel from time to time. I love the Unas story line, partially because they are aliens who finally don't look just like humans so it brings some diversity to the show. I'm a language buff, so I loved all the scenes where DJ is chatting with IronShirt.
I also noticed the "french" component, although they used Quelle for several words, including How and Why.
My favorite scene? When DJ explains that they will give food for naquada. He takes a bite of the "granola bar", gives a mmm mmm good face, and then explains that they want to trade. I do miss the others, but this is definitely my fave Season 7 so far.
I posted something a day ago tho about the apparent lack of respect I think DJ gets in Season 7 after having been mourned and missed for a whole year. The "Daniel you're a pain in the ***" and "Don't be so....you know...[you]" thing kind of irks me. The guy has saved the world and died half a dozen times, can't he get some serious respect?
I want my father to see this episode because he's always complaining about how in Sci-Fi, the aliens always speak English. I'd be like "Look! They aren't speaking English!"
I thought it was an okay episode...I didn't think they'd get things resolved so easily. And I wish we'd see more of the team, and not just Daniel. OH well...it did have a feel of the old Stargate episodes though.
As much good feedback there is on this episode. According to Gateworld this episode has had the LOWEST ratings so far with 1.17. This isnt good especially with MGM's withdrawal from the negotiating table to buy Sci-Fi Channel. Stick with it guys, dont let them pull the plug.

I liked this episode, and I think it's the first one where not having Jack was acctually pivotal to the effectiveness of it. I mean, there would have been no point in having Daniel and Edwards argue at all, if Jack was just going to run interferance all the f*cking time. Though, Edward's twat-iness was kinda forced and stereotypical. IMO, the best SG1 episodes are the ones that don't focus too much on action. Action should always take backseat to the storyline and characters, and if you're looking for a Sci-Fi show with lots of no-brainer action, you're better off watching Andromeda, Mutant X or Voyager re-runs.
Does anyone know of an SG1 BBS where the majority of people acctually have fully working brains? I haven't had time to look.
percicly.. this epsoide had a lot of good points to it.. and the fact that we needed the naquada to build X-303's it was I thought a epsoide which has potentle to be covered again, maby the goulld's attack in season eight or something like that. one kickass show, for all u people who miss the epsoide or epsoides go d-load them from www.stargates.tk also if you want more spoilers on future sg1 epsoides go to www.gateworld.net
later all
SG1 is made in Vancover British Colombia
not a bad Eps but we dont see Sg-1 in action
I'm sure the Unas have similar reservations concerning our appearence.

Even if you didn't like this episode, you should watch them all anyway.
The medium of television has qualities that shape what you see. From the formula, to the actors, all obey rules of hollywood and TV.
Examples. The formula that acvtion shows MUST use, is based on commercials.
Teaser, credits.
Setup, start to build tension, hook, before commercial.
Plot develoupment, tension builder, hook. Comm.
Repeat, with life threataning hook. Comm.
At maximum tension point, resolution, release of tension, and resolution just prior to end, commercial.
This formula was in place in the 50s, and hasn't changed since.
Budget.
Everyone is looking forward to the "Space race" episode, but that one will cost more than 5 "Enemy mine" type of episodes.
The high dollar episodes just can't be sustained with the budget they are on. Enemy mine, and Lifeboat were cheapies, to save their pennies for saturday night dance, so to speak.
Be greatful the didn't use the ULTIMATE cheapie, the dreaded "FLASHBACK" episode, hated by all but the accountants.
REAL world elements creep into fantasy world show.
The special effect budget will form a wave, from show to show, rising and falling, like the tide.
You MUST support the WHOLE show, or you will get NO show. This is a package deal.
You must "suffer" through the "merely" brilliant acting, and writing, to get to those all important explosions and space battles.
(Cough*spoilled*cough)
Do you nay sayers understand just how rare and special it is to have ANY TV show that isn't crap, pandering to the lowest commen denominator, in a race to the bottom, with fighting and sex the only real draw to the show? (Baywatch)
Good science fiction, (READ my sig) ALMOST doesn't exsist in mass media.
Wonderful episode....i hope to hear some info on what happens to the naquada in the future.
I liked this episode, because it is always good to dere the Unas, they are so cool, but I have a couple problems. one, Chaka looked very different from when we first meet him in Season 4's "THe First Ones", and the fact that they killed the UNas so easily by shooting them a couple of times.
Will wonders never cease
I actually liked this episode, i usually think unas episodes are shite, but this one surprised me. I liked it when Chaka came into the SGC, and how Daniel had worked with him,m how he was civil and didnt be violent at all. The whole episode was great, still not seeing alot of Jack tho eh
I think they are slowing edging him off the show. He might not even be there, except maybe for cameo roles, for season 8.
I have seen just one time this episode, so I don't know well this one but I don't understand one thing.
On Gateworld.net, we can see these following pictures, but I have not seen that during this episode.
Maybe it is because I do not pay enough attention, but I would like to check with you.
Attached image(s)
I believe this was by far the best Unas episode ever. I thought that it was really cool how Daniel negotiated with the tribes leader. I wonder how many tribes there actually were.
French Carter, I think your right. I don't that those pictures were in this episode. It might be from a deleted scene.
Waves to Chaka. Though I now live in the desert of Arizona, Wisconsin will always be home. Are u native? Welcome, sir!
When I watched this ep I kept thinking: This parallels the argument between the whites & the american indians over rights concerning sacred places like the Black Hills--even better, Mike was the boy that was adopted into the Tribe! Is it just me?!
I liked this ep completely. Mike was in his element again. Rick even backed him about usually being right. Can't beat that! I love hearing Mike speak other languages
Are there others where he does so?
?: Dion Johnstone was Chaka in The 1st Ones & Beast of Burden, was he not? If so, is he also in Enemy Mine?

and everyone was attached by the unas' .daniel looked awesome when he saved o'neil's life

| Enemy Mine was really good. I loved the 'Daniel go to your happy place' scene. okay |
I liked that ep because it saw the return of the Unas and Chaka in particular. We also found out that there was a peace treaty made with the humans in"Beast of Burden" which was pretty cool. I thought there was a bit too much Unas talk though all that nonsense when they were sitting around the fire but it wasn't too bad. I especially liked the part where Daniel explained how they bring death to the Goa'uld with Naquada.
Ofcourse the action and all the firefights with the Unas was sweet however i thought we would be able to gun down more than that, ah well thats the US Military for ya. It was great when like a few hundred Unas stood on the tree line around the mine and Colonel Edwards was like.......crap.........
Colonel Edwards was cool though because he hated the Unas and i loved it when he was staring Chaka in the eye.
Shame there wasn't much of Jack and Sam but hey nice to see lots of Daniel or should I say "Danel".
Anyway thats my little speech on this ep
Great stuff, can't wait till next week.
I loved this episode! Definatley one of my favourites so far this season, actually it could just be my favourite. All episodes so far this season have been good I think, not just because they've had loads of Daniel in them (although that certainly helps
) but because they are just really good. Enemy Mine was definately no exception.
"Daniel, go to your happy place" was classic! I thought there was quite a few funny moments, maybe not obvious and hilariously funny but there were alot of moments that made me chuckle.
The main reason I like this ep was because we once again got to see Daniel do what he does best, communicating with other cultures, negotiating etc. And I've always liked Chaka. It's a pity we don't get to see more of him. I think anytime when Chaka and Daniel are together is great for some reason.
I can't remember who mentioned this earlyer, I think it was Sokar, but Chaka did look really different from what I can remember of him in The First One's and Beast of Burden. I thought it was just my bad memory but I'm glad somebody else thinks the same too.
Did it seem to anyone else that Daniel was sort of enjoying Chaka being kinda nasty towards and challenging Colonel Edwards? Daniel and Edrwards didn't particularly like each other and they dissagreed on things, so it seemed to me that Daniel was secretly liking Chaka not liking Edwards (did that make sense? lol)
Overall, I loved this Episode, my favourite Season 7 ep so far!

Okay this was one episode when the lack of O'Neill really showed...and to make it worse carter was only in it for a whole, what 60 seconds.
The 'go to your happy place' comment was the greatess and made up for the lack of Jack, sort of.
Well at least there should be more carter next week to make-up.
okay...stop me if you've heard it....How many Stargate main characters can you omit from an entire episode and still try to make it entertaining?? Anyone??
Geez talk about lack of Jack....lack of the whole whack more like it
still, a pretty good episode overall I guess - reinforces the decision to bring back Shanksy - he is fab!!
However I will say one thing? WHERE'S THE SHIPPY-NESS.....need more....not enough.......grrrr.
Although it was cute when Carter asked Jack how his arm was and he came over all macho..... 'its fine', when all he had done was moan about it before.
I think this ep is my least favourite of the season so far.
It wasnt the fact that there was a lack of main characters, (e.g. Jack & Sam), or that i found it boring, i've just never been a fan of the Unas eps.
However, i think that this ep was by far the best Unas episode there has been.
I liked the fact that we got some closure on the ep "Beast Of Burden", although i'm not too fond of those "creature from the black lagoon" lookalikes, i'm glad they were able to negotiate some kind of peace.
Did anyone else think Chaka (sp?) looked a bit to plastic and fake compared to the other Unas?
I thought the ep was good! 2/3rd best of the season so far for me.
Yer Chaka did look different, but i liked the clothes they made him look more like a diplumat than an Unas. Missing sam and jack didn't affect this ep. I thought it was great when O'niell got clothelined by ironshirt!, I also though it was great near the end when all the Unas surounded the camp. Oh and was it me or did in parts the Unas sound like a pack of dogs?
I enjoyed this episode despite the lack of Sam and Jack or very much of Teal'c for that matter. A vast improvement on Lifeboat.
It seems that Shanksy was persuaded to return to the fold with the promise of a substantial increase in "Daniel-centred" episodes, possibly at the expense of good storylines-Lifeboat being a case in point (good acting poor story).

Yeah, I agree with Aesir (and about Fragile Balance too). I think the main problem was that two Daniel centred episodes back to back was perhaps a little too much. (Then again we're probably going to get the same later on with Carter). Probably wouldn't have felt too much if there'd been a whole lot more of the others in both eps but there really wasn't. Jack, I understand because of RDA's commitments, but Sam and Teal'c? C'mon, Sam got one line and a pathetic excuse for not being there with her team and Teal'c kind did the big silent old Jaffa routine that I hoped we'd seen the back of. I'm sure there's a reason for it but, honestly, I'd rather they just say so and so is off on leave or something and not have them there at all.
I am beginning to wonder what further plot devices they're going to use to off Jack for forty five mintes though....
At number five! It's the old Jack gets injured ploy!
At number four, we have the Jack gets stranded off world while the gate breaks down and we hear only radio contact with him...
Rising one place to number three we have the just don't give him much to say and include stock footage of him on his own and hope people don't notice (a la Lifeboat).
Dropping down from last week's number one to take second, turn Jack into a kid and have another actor play him.
And in the number one spot this week, it's the focus so many episodes on other characters that we forget that he's actually not about much.
Hah hah! Actually, kudos to the writers because it all seems to be working fairly well for me. I'm not missing him too badly to be honest. Lifeboat and this one are the first weeks that I've really noticed a lac of Jack.
I did enjoy this episode, despite the fact that the Unas bore the pants off me and there was so little team play. The story was good and solid and actually had a moral. I liked the chemistry between Daniel and the other Colonel, and the comment about breaking in a new colonel too.
I really liked that epispde i thought daniel was quite funny in that one i did not think that there were so many unas there must have been millions
I think enemy mine was much better the 2nd time round and on an actual tv.
Things i loved:
Daniel, go to your happy place
Daniels explanations of a Spaceship and Relocation.
Things i didn't like:
no sam
a tad boring in some parts
I liked this episode. I seem to have missed the last Unas one, so for me, this was REALLY interesting and I ssaw them in a new, less evil light. They are Cool! I like em.
I thought it was a good story and very interesting. I liked when Daniel was communicating with the Unas especially, it was funny. Actually all of the ep was good. Except the stupid general guy (was he an actual general? i dont rmemeber now) you know, the guy in charge of the place. he was annoying, but i guess that was the point.
i liked it though. good.
(actually, i think ive said for almost every episode lately! i cant remember not liking one! sorry bout that
)
I really liked this episode because it reminded me of the first two seasons where the team focused on doing the right thing more than blowing up the enemy. I did prefer the last unas story--the one with the slavery theme because it had both the concern about doing the right thing AND blowing up the enemy, but if I have to pick one or the other, I'd rather have the interesting ideas.
This is another episode on my list of 'didn't think much of it first time, but really enjoyed it second time around'. I have a lot of those. <g>
Other posters have already mentioned several elements which stuck out for me.
On first showing this episode irked me more than a little because seemed to me to be more or less a reworking of Spirits. As has been said already - you'd think they'd have learned from that experience! But I guess not. So that put me off a little. When I watched it again last night though, it didn't really bother me and I found quite a lot of interesting moments that made me like this one more.
I too loved Daniel's reaction to being told just how many Unas there were. And the scenes with him and Chakka around the campfire were very nicely done. I do like the relationship those two have and it's always nice to get a further glimpse of it.
Like other posters, I did smile at Jack suddenly straightening up and playing down how much pain he was in when Carter asked him how he was doing. Poor Jack. <g> I swear, RDA is the best actor on the planet for acting at being in pain. I never fail to be impressed with him there. He is so good at doing it he makes me wince. I think the best example of that is the arrow through the arm in Spirits. I could almost feel that one myself. <G>
And the 'go to your happy place' is a classic. Made me LOL.
Albion
Daniel negosation for the mineing. Things work out in the end for all consorne.
I liked this episode and there werent many in season 7 that I did like I liked to see the progesion of Chaka, hes pretty cool. The guy incharge of the mining operation was a bit of a dick and a I really felt sorry for that unas that got shot as it went for its necklace.
Anyone notice that in both this and the previous episode, Sgt. Siler has been in the infirmary? Seems the poor guy had a couple accidents lately ![]()
In the previous ep, his nose was broken, in this he was pretty messed up. (I'm slightly unsure if it was him in the latter though.)
Yet another stand alone episode which could of been really entertaining but left me cold. The story line was good, but it just lacked that certain something to keep me entertained. Possibly because of the lack of the use of SG-1. lol.
I hope the whole of season 7 isn't like this: I want to see much more action.
This was a good episode, Daniel has been getting a lot of work this season.
He gave a strong personality.
Michael Shanks did a great job once again.
The Una's were so cool.
Chaka is so cute.
I have never really liked the unas. i think that they did the right thing in this episode thou.
A very good eps.... a battle betwen the unas and people cool
A very good episode. I always like when the Unas are present in one. Pity that the original Chaka was replaced but other than that I felt very positive about it.
I hope we will see more about this Human-Unas alliance further. I would like to see them working or fighting together against common threats and even especially for humans to be willing to sacrifice themselves to protect their Unas 'friends'.
Prejudice is a very human trait and in our arrogance we are often blinded by what is important and by our own conceits.
I told my wife that there was some parallels with ST:TOS Devil in the Dark.
Humans come to a planet to mine it.
Humans do something to tick the natives off.
Natives end up mining for the Humans.
Oh sorry was i the only one here who found this episode incredibly boring?? Everyone here seems to like it, it was boring nothing else, i dont like the unas ones normally but this is the worst, its just boring its not one that i watch alot. And i prefere dion as chaka too!!
When I found out that this was another Unas episode I was pretty reluctant to watch but geez. This was a really great episode. I loved the whole negotiation process with Daniel, Chaka and the Other one. The conclusion was briliant and was it just me or did Chaka start bathing? He looked alot cleaner and well groomed
I should have read that above, thanks for that Daf. I never really pay attention to stuff like that.
It was a different costume that they used though. He was a greeny colour in the first eps and now he's suddenly brown/tand and lacking horns. He looked pretty good, like an Unas diplomat.
This is another one of those moments with Daniel that make me laugh. You know, the ship moment with his hand buzzing around. (yes im watching it right now)
I actually liked this episode. Daniel's 'ship noises' had me laughing. He can be so child-like at times.
I also think that its not really a far trade. They do the work and we get the resources for building our ships. I think that we made out like bandits.
