My personal favourite is Lord Yu, for a lot of reasons. But the major one would be that he seems to be the most moderate of the Goa'ulds.

He's got the cheesiest name. Plus other than Anubis all the others were only seen in one episode or are dead.

Heeey.. Baal was in TWO episodes! (erh..maybe three..) "Summit" and "Abyss".

Baal just seems like one of the more evil goa'ulds. To me, anyway. His method's of torture just are darker than the rest of them system lords. He even has that face of torture and pain and death. They did a great job casting the guy for the part.

Tho' he wasn't on teh poll list#Sokar would come in a close second for me. Just the concept of creating Hell on a moon just to make the myths and legends true. That's dedication to keepin' his persona alive. (well, not anymore..but you know what I mean).

Yeah, you just took the words right out of mouth. I mean really, kill O'neill bring him back. Kill him, bring him, back. and on and on and on. I want to see more of Baal. I think he makes a great goa'uld villian.

Is there any reason why the likes of Apophis, Sokar or Heru-ur are not in this list!?!? Is it only surviving System Lords only?

Apophis is, without doubt, the best Sysytem Lord yet

I agree ,these system lords should be on the list. We dont really know anything about the system lords on the list cause we haven't seen much of them. We know more about dead ones.

I always thought Apophis was kinda weak as a system lord. Sokar was pretty good. Too bad they killed him of so early.

As a system lord, Yu isn't much of a threat to us. He's actually been quite helpful to us.

He voted against Anubis' return.
He's at war with Anubis/Osiris.(which has probably kept Anubis occupied and has prevented him from destroying us)
He didn't kill Teal'c when he captured him. Instead he let Teal'c escape and warn the rebel Jaffa about the attack, which more or less kept the Jaffa rebellion alive.
Acting on intelligence from us, he attacked Baals outpost allowing Jack to escape.

Yu has probably been more helpful to us than the Tok'ra have been. Maybe we should make an alliance with him.

Apophis was just full of hot air who never stayed dead.

I watched "Summit" last week (for the first time, actually) and forgot that Osirius was in Sarah's body#why DOESN'T he get a male host? Is it too complicated or..like..what? I didn't get it.

Baal and Sokar.. Cronos was pretty cool, too. Seemed like a pretty evil dude to me..

And Anubis better be a kick ass evil goa'uld because if all this hype leads to nothin'.. I ain't gonna be too happy of a SG-1 fan.

Well since I happen to be Chinese, I thought I'd bring you some pertinent information:


In chinese History, Yu was the stooper of floods.

His dedication was to his people, whom he placed above both himself and his family.

During a period of flooding, he worked endlessly for 13 years and walked by his own citystate three times without entering his home, each time detured by work.

He maintained an open door policy and, being of humble origens, listened to the complaints of his people - which was new considering that this was thousands of years ago. (We're talking around 2100 BC)

His only major fault was an obsession with punctuality. (Which could be explained if here Gou'ald right?)

That said, I think we now know why Yu is portrayed the way he is, assuming of course that the writers know anything about Chinese history.... which I'm asuming they don't since they gave guy a 'modified' qing dynasty (approx. 1800 AD) haircut.)

Yu and Anubis are probably the best system lords there are out there at the moment...but if they were on the list, sokar and apophis would be voted...maybe we could of seen more of sokar, but he tended to keep to himself i think...was he even a system lord?

Yu is the only Asian Goauld "God". His planet has asian style buildings

My fav is Bastet (Also known as Bast) I like her because I love egyptain mythology and i love cats. You don't see her alot (2 episodes i think? i'm watching the reruns to catch up, got hooked to late).

I also liked Apep (Apophis) I thought he was funny. I mean, some1 who won't stay dead? Come on, that is a hoot. I laughed when I saw the one where Sokar died and you see him standing and watching the ship burn. But, i have a warped sense of humor anyway.

Uh.... I think you mean Shan Di, Ti is ladder... well, if you're from the mainland anyway. And I think you conjugated to uncongatable terms. (Yes I know that's not a word. (Not picking on you, just informing you. )

Huang-Shang is emporer, which Yu never tittled himself. That didn't come until Qin Shi Huang after the warring states period. (Hey Chromium, that is the correct Pin Yin isn't it?)

Shand Di is god, in fact I think it's reserved only for the Christian Good. Chinese gods were always something 'Wong' or other. (Although I may be wrong on this, I'm thinking Dong Hai Long Wong (Dragon Lord of the eastern sea), and the other characters mentioned in Xi Yo Jie (I think that traslates to Journey to the West), I can't be completely certain if it was just that authors perogative.)

Yu is the best of all system lords just for the fact that i think he is the most powerful, and that he is asian made a big difference. I offen wounder if he is really a good guy just pertending to be bad. in the on episode he could of just kill teal'c and wiped out that whole plant, before any one knew what was going on but he didn't.
