This episode was funny indeed. laugh.gif I believe this is when Teal'c started to get funny. That was good because he became more than the big guy people run from. It does create a sort of paradox though. If SG-1 never went back in time, would SG-1 have existed? The note Hammond got and his meeting SG-1 must have made him change his career. He must have sought out the SGC and picked SG-1 himself since he met them and knew they were the ones to choose. Time travel paradoxs are confusing blink.gif

Interesting question (for me at least), why does Catherine Langford's ACCENT change back and forth as she gets older?

I was almost expecting this episode to end by them talking to or meeting the hippies in the current time and explaining to them how important they had been. But there are lots of Stargate episodes like that, I expect kind of a wrap up at the end that doesn't really happen. They kind of leave you with information on how it will likely end, but don't necessarily show you that happening.

Some examples of these are Last Stand where Lantash is going to get carried to the gate and release the biological agent that will kill the Jaffa so that SG1 can escape. You see him there with the agent and hear the hunting horns of the Jaffa, but that's it.

In Paradise Lost I expected some sort of footage showing Carter's reaction to O'Neill's rescue. You just show the Tok'ra transport flying overhead and Jack telling Maybourne that they're going to be rescued.

It happens in a good many episodes. It's not a big deal, but it's interesting how they play it out.

I loved this episode too. the whole thing was cleverly thought out by the writers. I'm not sure bout general hammond seeking out sg1 he wasn't even assigned to it at first. in the movie it was a different general - he only got the assignment after the stargate was made inactive after the first mission to abydos. although by taking the assignment he may have known what would eventually come from it. huh.gif

I guess the young Hammond could have been involved in the military, but then was stationed away while General West took over the Stargate program, then was bought back again. But, yeah, plot hole we say, plot hole!!! Ha ha hahaaa....

The hippies can be part of a SG1 that specializes in diplomacy. Bring the peace pipe hippies we got some negotiating to do.

In the episodes following the pilot movie there is that controversy of O'Niell wanting Teal'c being a member of SG1. I have not seen that episode in awhile but I remember Hammond may have resisted. Well, with this episode 1969 in mind it seems Hammond should have known already that Teal'c would be a part of the team and for that matter Dr. Jackson too. (I seem to remember resistance from Dr. jackson being a part of the team as well.)

Yeah I know that he was allowed to join in the SG1 because of his actions in that episode. i just find it cool to think that the whole time Hammond would or should have known Teal'c would join the team. Because of his previous experience in 1969 as a Lt.

A plot inconsistency. But that's to be expected given that the 1969 episode in season 2 likely hadn't even been thought of when they penned the first couple of season 1 episodes.

Yes. The hippy movement was a part of our natural progression as a race, and if the snakes took Earthens from this planet, then it is quite possible there is a planet out there that time forgot. biggrin.gif

Teal'c must be a quick study because he didn't have long to learn to drive, and we never saw him having any lessons.

Well he can fly a death glider and cargo ship so surely he can learn to drive a car.
