What I don't get is why he lost power. The explanation is that after losing 2 ships at Earth, he was crippled and the system lords finished him off. I didn't know that 2 motherships was such a huge loss. Haven't the Goa'uld threatened to send 200 ships? Losing 2 ships and a few Jaffa shouldn't have weakened him by that much. I guess Sokar must have used his failure to convert his followers or something, since that is the only way that Apophis could have lost power in a reasonable way.

I think it's supposed to be like a vampire thing. The Goa'uld in him was so badly injured that it could only heal itself, and wasn't even really doing that. This meant that all the years the host had spent in the sarcophagus was catching up as the Goa'uld was no longer able to keep control of the body. Although it seems to have played out differently in other situations. And in terms of his position, he lost two motherships in the attack on earth as well as a good portion of his Jaffa army. The problem was that he wasn't crippled, but that he lost standing with the System Lords and Heru-ur and Sokar decided to attack him, at which point he was pretty much done for. That and Hathor was poaching Jaffa from him and Heru-ur on the side. So he didn't have the ability to rebuild his military. It wasn't just because he was a big baby. |

Did you guys see the gratitude on Teal'c's face? It was so obvious that he was having the time of his life. And so he should feel. I can only imagine what emotions he was experiencing after seeing his previous GOD begging him for mercy!
It would be nice to watch the first episode after this one just to see how far Teal'c went. Way to go, Teal'c! |

This was a great episode about human nature. "That's why they call us the good guys" Jack said. That was so cool. And then Daniel threatening Apophis. But what I really liked was at the end when they sent him back through and they're told that he will be revived and tortured, none of them rejoice, even though he's done horrible things to them.

We are fools for showing compassion to an enemy? Or for not thinking that a weakness? I think Lantash lost me somewhere there. Makes me wonder what the Tok'ra are going to do with the losers if they ever win the war. Have they been at war so long that they can't think past the war itself?

Unfortunately, Apophis is like an infestation of cock roaches. You can never get rid of them. |

Keep in mind that the crew looked sad when they heard about Apophis being revived and killed, revived and killed, etc, because they thought about the poor host that had been trapped in the living Hell of being a host. They promised the poor scribe that he would be with his family when he died. Imagine the horror the host felt when he was revived and understood he was still in Hell. That is why the crew was sad. Each time a Goual'd bites the dust, the host goes down as well. This time, they had come to know the host of their enemy and understood the suffering he had endured.

I found it a bit hard to believe that the host was unable to speak english. I mean, he could remember the "nightmare" that he lived for thousands of years so you would think that he would learn to speak english. Besides, we know that the host has access to the Goa'uld genetic memory as Shar'a knew Amonets secrets; so why didn't Apophis' host know how to atleast speak english?

Jack introduces Hammond to Apothis and Hammond says "we've met". I don't remember them having met or spoken? I only remember one time Hammond going through the Stargate when SG-1 was prisioners and he went to speak to their captors in season 2 ep 3 prisioners?
