This episode was cool. Jack meets the Asguard! While he was smart, he reprogrammed the computer with new gate coordinates. I am wondering if they kept records of those gates, because that would have been smart to do. Another thing, why didn't anyone study the device he built? Even if it was broken. They coulda studied it to greater detail, in hopes of building another in the future to visit the Asguard. Plus they have plenty of staff weapons to spare. I'm sure they've looted the bodies of hundreds of Jaffa by now.

i think if jack stayed smart it would be really intresting to see
how sam and daniel would react to having someone smarter that them i think they would feel a little threatened. wink.gif whistling.gif

Those addresses ARE stored and used again in the dialling computer, they even colour code the addresses (cartouche vs Jack). One question though, the language Jack was speaking ("Ancient"), what language was that? Or was it made up words?? Sounded a bit Latin to me, anyone???

I remember Daniel saying that it was based on Latin, which made it possible for him to translate what Jack was saying, but it was different enough that he couldn't always understand what Jack was doing/writing. Problem was Jack stopped being able to talk later in the episode and as he didn't want to write down everything, they had difficulty understanding what he was doing.

If it was based on Latin, then maybe the ancients are "ancient" ancestors of this planet. maybe something happened which made us start again! that could be why they are called the ancients!

Oh I have no doubt that the language was MEANT to be a derivation of Latin (even Daniel says that in the ep), but my question was what actual language was he speaking? Or was it just made up random sounds???

This is such a great episode for so many reasons, but I absolutely love the music. I assume that the music is entitled "Suite from the Fifth Race" but unfortunately there isn't a Stargate CD for music after the first season. Does anyone know where I can find this track? It's the music that plays when Jack's on the Asgard planet and for anyone musically inclined, the main phase of the melody goes C, B, A, E, F#.....

When that Asguard took the info from O'Neill's brain, did they keep it for themselves? If they did they could advance in the areas that the Ancients beat them in.

just to show you how much they pay attention to detail..
For those of you with the DVD of this episode... Pause the video right when they roll out the plans for the DHD... LOOK at all the detail that they put into that drawing... I'm going to try to get a screen shot of this... its really cool..
Check it out.
