Season 2, Episode 7 - Message in a Bottle
Original Air Date: August 7, 1998

While exploring a now dead planet, O'Neill and the SG-1 team find an orb that sends out electromagnetic signals. They think it is a time capsule of some sort and are intrigued by its power source, which seems to have lasted for millennia. They bring it back through the Stargate for further study.

It did. Poor Teal'c, so desperate to rip it out, yet so powerless. I think that pointy stick hurt Teal'c more than Jack. I find it unbelievable that some algae could be intelligent. Its barely macroscopic, how could it have a brain?

I have a very different perspective on these things. Why couldn't one of those algae contain a complete GALAXY?? It's only small to us as we are used to our size of perceptions. There would also be vastly larger things in the big picture that view us as tiny little algae not with sh**.

What I sort of meant is why are we so sure that DNA for example is the smallest thing (or whatever is currently the smallest thing, atoms used to be). The point being we just don't understand everything.

Same as a black hole, MAYBE there is something on the other side (like a gateway or something), just because our current LIMITED view on science says it's not possible, doesn't mean it isn't.

Well whatever that Algae was, we let it take over a planet that intelligent life could have evolved on if it was left alone.

What guy on that base didn't have some crush on Sam? Even Jack and Daniel know she's hot.

After watching this episode, I think RDA can safely put on his resume:

"Specialities include convincingly playing characters in great physical pain" as evidenced in:

Solitudes (broken ribs, leg, internal bleeding)
Broca Divide (caveman Jack)
Message in a Bottle (spike through shoulder..twice - got put in again after Siler tried to burn it)
Abyss (Torture by Ba'al)
Paradise Lost (grenade fragment in leg from Harry's pig trap)
Cold Lazarus (alien O'Neill convulsing in hospital)

c'mon people add to the list, I know there's more.... cool.gif

I thought of one Mythwriter,

In "Spirits" Jack gets an arrow through his arm.

And also in every episode with Goua'uld he gets hit in the back of the knees with a staff weapon!

he gets killed by staff weapons a few times (most noticeably 'The Nox')
and does being zatted count? that's about a hundred times.

but we're kinda getting off topic here. the ep was alright, the best part was definately the scenes between teal'c and oneill.
"undomesticated equines could not remove me"-teal'c

Call me biased, but I would rather it take over a planet where intelligent life hasn't evolved (or occupied, for that matter) than one where it has.

I don't know if he got over his crush, but he has been seen in other episodes, so he at least got over the blue-creeping-crud (or whatever).
