not to be critical or offensive, but you seem to have just posted quick anythings all over this Season 2 section to get more posts
Back to the episode: So this is where we learn that the Asguard pose as gods on many worlds. Plus that the Asguard can whoop the Goa'uld without difficulty. Did you see the expression on Heru'ur's face when he saw Thor's ship suck up all his Jaffa? I hope this is the right episode I'm remembering... |

First time we get to see the asguard, hey you know the protected planets treaty have to be held on the planet in question, then how did they do it here, I mean the people would of had to know about all the stuff and what thor looks like, so how was it set up here?!

I don't think that the Protected Planets Treaty is mentioned in this episode specifically, but in "Thor's Hammer", when Teal'c and O'Neill first get transported, they get an announcement from the holographic recording of Thor that the planet is protected by the Asgard. So what must have happened between the two episodes was that a Goa'uld team, probably just Jaffa, came through the Stargate and discovered that the Hammer was no longer in place. After getting back to the Stargate they then destroyed the transport device and used the stargate to summon support. But to get to that point they must have heard the recorded message, which is why the Asgard were justified in showing up and making short work of the Jaffa forces. |

Well I don't know for certain, but that SEEMS to be the case in this instance. Certainly the local population knew that the Asgard protected them, but they only thought of them in the sense of gods and not as administers of the Asgard Protected Planets Treaty.
But I think it's also incumbent on the System Lords to know which planets are protected and respect that. I remember in the episode Summit where Yu is talking with Osiris and says that it is incumbent on the System Lords to enforce the Protected Planets Treaty on ALL other Goa'uld. So they must know which planets are supposed to be protected and which are not. So Heru-ur, being a system lord, likely knew that he was breaking the treaty when he went to Cimmeria. |

Just another situation of the Asgard acting like gods and taking over a planet and making treaties without actually involving the race themselves. Hmmm sounds more and more Goa'uld the more I think about it

Have we ever dissected an Asgard? No. Could be anything inside them. The Goa'uld had to come from somewhere. What do you do if you have a cancer? You rip it out, right? Maybe the (good) Asgard did that with their (bad) Goa'uld?

The question is: "Where do the Goa'uld that get sucked up by Thor's ship go?"
They probably aren't stored on the Asguard Mothership, since that would take up a lot of space. |

Did anyone else think the way they handled the hammer at the end was coompletely reckless? They just found a way to completely kill the Gouuld, and they just blew it up with hardly any thought at all. Even though Teal'C was stuck in there, they could have at least spent a week or so tunelling a way around the hammer (after getting reenforcements & tools from Earth of course). They also left the door wide open for any other Goa'ould who came through the gate.
IMO, it was completely ridiculous that they did this, and was one of the only SG1 eps I've seen where at the end I was yelling, "What the hell is wrong with you!!" like when you're watching an old 80's horror flick (or any other similarly intelligence-insulting movie) |

This was a great ep.
The first time you get to see an Asgard.. Which by the way is the place were all the Norse gods Live. It would not be fitting to call a race of People "The Asgard". I'm am convinced that they could come in and rid the entire galaxy of Gua'old but just don't have the time for it right now. I gues that they do not see the snakes as a big enough thret. Now that is saying something about supieriority here. That big mother ship just came down and transported the jaffa and Goa'uld somewhere else. Possibly holding cells on the ship or to another world entirely. That rocked. what a great way to get SG1 out of a hopeless situation. |

I had another point here that was not related to my last post. But now that I've waited the 20 seconds I have lost my train of thought and need to regroup. Sorry about this post. I know that i'll come back to it later.
for now just think about where Loki would fit into this whole Asgard scope. |

Since they would have to convert them to energy to transport them, it makes some sense that they may leave them as energy and use it to power their ships etc.. Although because the Asgard are so "nice", they may well just drop them off at the nearest planet.
Secondly, regarding the dissecting of an Asgard - since it was pretty much established in the series that the Asgard were the aliens that landed at Roswell, this implies the alien autopsy was real and so we have dissected an Asgard.... |

I don't think it's ever confirmed that the Asgard crashed at Roswell. The closest they've come is Sam's reference to "Roswell Greys" when first seeing Thor. However anybody who refers to aliens of that likeness are refering to the "Roswell Greys". Sam's reference doesn't mean it's true. |

What I find interesting was that the woman (I can't remember her name) told Teal'c that he would always be welcome, implying that the Hammer or at least that first device at the Stargate could tell the difference.
