Well other than those first few eps, there really hasn't been an over abundance of feminism in the series, which is good I feel.

The part where SG1 made them abandon their traditions and allow women out I thought was a bit easy, and a sign of things to come (meddling in others' affairs). But I guess their women were once free, so maybe it wasn't such a leap forward afterall.

Something about this ep's race (same could be said about other eps too perhaps) and that is if this race was stolen from Earth (Mongolians, or whatever they were) that was obviously a long time ago, why then is the population so small? Do not people breed if left alone? Or do the Goa'uld (or dare I say Aschen) fix things???

(Ignoring previous post and continuing discussion)

But wouldn't a small population promote inbreeding? I mean, even the times the SGC has evacuated the brightest and best to the alpha site, surely they can only take like hundreds and not many more. How can that small number start over and rebuild??

It would mathematically take 32 couples to make a viable genetic foundation on which to perpetuate the human race. 32 males, 32 females. That's it. I only hope I could be one of the 32 males. That way, I'd have a 1 in 32 chance of getting a date. Lord knows, I've gotten plenty of them in the past several months. unsure.gif

Really? I mean seriously? I never knew it would be so low. Even a generation or two later wouldn't have 3 ears or something??

I was serious, I've never done the maths, I just woulda thought you needed like 10's of thousands to start a whole planet. But tnke set me straight, I guess I can make my break away society now - I just need 31 one more people, any volunteers??

But how long do 50 people live? Considering they're on that planet forever. Depending on your religion Earth started with 2 people, and now we got 2 too many almost.

The "water" Sam drank that Jack mentions is from one of their travels between episodes. Supposedly on this trip, Sam drank some water that made her high and she took of some articles of clothing. Season 1 liked to point out that Sam is hot.

I don't think it was in this episode. I think O'Neill was referring to a planet before this one but after Chulak.
