I made an interesting observation at the end of this episode. I wonder if anybody else caught it. It has to do with the apophis personal shield.
Does anybody now what i mean or do i have to be more explicit? IPB Image

I definitly need to brush up on my episodes IPB Image
cause i thought it was the episode named "Secrets" where the knife
gets thrown through the shield. If memory serves correctly the knife was
thrown through appophises shield in the temple on abydos in front of the
stargate. Appophis was retrieving daniels wife and the harcesis child. I'll
check the episode tonight. IPB Image

Actually, it was Heru-ur's personal shield that Jack threw his knife through. He had fashioned a bow and arrow in an attempt to penetrate Apophis' on the Nox homeworld, but never got a chance to see if it would work 'cuz the Nox "hid" him before Jack's arrow got there. But yeah, I did think it was kinda odd that a slow-moving Replicator couldn't pass through. Maybe Sokar had an advanced shield that Apophis took. Just a thought.

I really liked this episode, and in it you saw Daniel use a P90 which I never seen him use before.
And also the scene where they were running back to the cargo bay being chased by the replicators was amazing.

I just love the Replicators. They make an awesome enemy, but I would like to see them destroyed forever. Remember Aris Boch? Maybe he was caught by Sokar and had to trade his shield to Sokar for his life. Then Apophis took it once he replaced Sokar.

I think that I may know why the replicators were crawling over Apophis' sheild. Remember back to the episode, Window of Opportunity, when Colonol O'neil, and Teal'c were stuck in the time loop. The person who was controlling the alien device that made time warp, possessed a variation of a ga'ould sheild that could stop even slow moving objects (when Jack tossed a rock at it, it came flying back at him). This shows that in the past few years, the ga'ould have developed new sheilding. This could explain the incident with the replicators.

You have got to love those replicators! Can you imagine the upgrade they did to that mothership in just a couple of hours? By the way, was that the galaxy of the Asgards since Thor said that the replicators are having a stronghold on their galaxy? Perhaps.

This episode makes you glad that Teal'c is on our side. Wouldn't have been as much pleasure have he remained in Apophes' service. We've seen how it would have been if so in alternate realities.

Close.. but the shield that guy used.. teal'c walked into. and was knocked. BAK, and Knocked OUT.. so it deflects wat eva comes into contact with it. there fore the replictors would of be thrown off. and. if u ask me, they wernt on apophis shield neway. ill double check. but ir eckon they were on the Window of the ship, which has a shield. like u see in season final of series 1. smile.gif

What's the big deal about the replicators crawling on Apophis' sheild? Yes, we learned that his sheild doesn't block slow moving objects, but that was in season 1 people. Apophis have gone through a lot of changes since then and one can only assume that he learned the weakness of the previous sheild and thus improved it. in fact, it makes more sense to have a sheild that blockes all kinds of entry rather than one that blocks only fast moving objects.

I apologize for my annoying persistence, but this is my favourite episode of all time (and that includes Startrek as well). SyStEm_LoRd may be correct about my prior statement, however, since its been ages since I saw that episode (Window of Opportunity) I probably forgot important details.

However, during the episode "Upgrades"(the episode with the arm bands), there was yet another kind of sheild on Apophis' improved warship that stopped slow moving objects (the sheild relied on energy intervals, which allowed Jack, Sam, and Daniel to pass through with their newly found, and temporary super speed), this sheild, however, did not bounce objects back (it however, was a blue color rather than the ga'ould's normal orangish sheilds). A variation of this type of sheild could also explain the misinterpreted inconsistency in "Enemies".

But lets just assume for a second that Apophis' sheild is identicle to the type that only stops fast moving objects. Even in this case, it is not a total inconsistency. As mentioned by Teal'c in the episode "Small Victories", replicators are attracted to energy. This attraction may be the reason why the replicators were walking on the sheild, not because its impermeable to slow moving objects, just because energy is what they are attracted to.

you guys have got it all wrong! if you pay close attention to the ep in which jack "supposedly" chucked a knife through a goau'ld sheild. The 'LORD' was about to activate the "pushy" thing on the palm side of the arm thingy to blow jack into the wall and so assuming that the arm thingy doesn't have a pentium 4 prossecer (SP) and so can only do one thing at a time, the sheild was actualy OFF when jack (did what some of you would call a "miracle") threw the knife. Also!... if you notice... whenever a personal sheild is being used the arm with the arm thingy is always horizontaly placed infront! and so when the arm thingy was lifted next to the head i assume the sheild turned off! OK?! online2long.gif

Perhaps smile.gif But in "Dead man's switch" Jack tried throwing the knife at Aris Boch hoping that it will penetrate the sheild, but it didn't. Aris Boch laughed at Jack's attempt and told him that his sheild does not allow in slow moving objects like that of the Goa'uld. And given Aris Boch's track record of hunting down Goa'ulds we can be sure of the accuracy of his information.

Add this to Jack's assumption in "The nox" and we can be pretty sure that Apophis' sheild did not have the ability to block slow moving objects at one point of history.

But as I said earlier, that was long time ago and Apophis must've ordered this change immediately after his encounter on the Nox planet. smile.gif

Wow. Ya'll went to far with this tanget about the Sheild.
Look.... we all know the writers have small inconsistencies in there technology writting. Chalk this one up to "Lets make this look cool." It was really cool that the replicators were walking all over his shield. That was a cool visual. He was about to die surrounded by bugs. That is excellent.

If you want to keep talking about this subject you might want to consider that the replicators are drawn to energy. And I'm thinking that the shield has a pretty high output ratio. So why weren't the replicators draining the energy from the ribbon device as they were crawling on it? How long could he really last if that were the case?

I liked this ep. I hope Apophis is finally dead now. What a dick!
