Season 5, Episode 7 - Beast of Burden
Original Air Date: August 10, 2001 The Unas (last seen in Season 4's The First Ones) have been made slaves by a group of humans, and SG-1 is put in the position of having to decide if they are morally obligated to liberate the Unas from bondage. Daniel gets very personally involved, and at the end of the day the seeds of civil war are sown. |

The unas at the beginning, was that Chaka, Daniels friend from the Goa'uld homeworld? If so, how did he get to that planet? Was he Daniel's new pet? I'm sorry if it wasn't Chaka. On another note, why have the Unas not gotten smarter since the Goa'uld left their world? It would seem they've been around as long as humans have, and they do seem capable of higher thought.

What I liked about the eppy is how Jack actually started to care about the Unas as a sentient being although it was Daniels insight that propelled Jacks change of heart. I think that Jack not wanting to harm other humans was noble, but no one really has the right to rule other beings, even the Unas.

I watched the eps again yesterday and there's something unusual:
The man who captured chaka said he pressed on the dhd for hours before getting a wormhole. If so, how did he figure out what the stargate adress was of his homeworld and knew how to return home. He would also need to figure out what the point of origin was of the planet where he captured chaka. How can this be?? I really liked this eps and I hope that sg-1 will revisit this world in the furure. |

i just saw this ep today! it was a good ep, but it needed more action, jack should've been able to shoot some people with the kick-ass P90 and i would've aimed straight at the fat-man's head and blown it right off!!!!

Well, I'm still confused about Chaka getting on that planet and stuff. I find it weird to see Unas serving drinks. It just seemed so very wrong.

Yepp Chaka was captured on the goa'uld homeplanet and brought to the slav-planet, probarly the gou'ald used unas soldiers/jaffa before taking on humans as hosts/jaffa/slaves I wonder why they did switch. My guess: it made the sarcophagus possible and the humas might be more fertile than unas, or maybe just smarter, makes better slaves/soldiers maybe |

I didn't like the part where that fat guy killed that Unas with just a couple of shots from the P-90. In other episodes (The first ones) an unas has been shot many times and yet it doesn't even fall down. I also didn't know that those goa'uld pain stick things work at long range.

If you mean when he used the things on Daniel and Jack, I don't think it was long range. They were chained up inside the cage and the chains were fastened to the bars as I recall. He (the bad guy) activated the pain stick on the cell door which conducted the charge through the bars to the chains to Daniel/Jack.

I had problem with that too. The Unas didn't seem to be as able to sustain injury. In earlier episodes, it seemed nearly impossible to kill one especially in Thor's Hammer. |

I beleive that the reason the Unai were harder to kill in Thor's Hammer and Demons was because they had Goa'uld symboites controling them so wouldn't this increase the unai's ability to withdstand pain? |

Yes and wasn't the one killed the one that the bad guy believed was abnormal? He may have had internal problems as well.

They killed several of them very easily. I don't think the symbiote could have made them so invinsible. They can't do that to humans. I really do think it is an inconsistency. |
