This is one great episode, one question though did cadet Halie know the whole thing was a set-up, she must have because she pretended to be hurt in the gate room, but all the way through the episode she didn't know it was a set-up.

Eh...not believable.

IF there had been a foothold, Jack wouldn't have let a shot in the chest keep him down, nor would he have let the trainee team commander bark orders. Jack would've took control of the situation.

I'm just saying that if there had been a foothold, Jack would've lead the 'fresh blood' down into the SGC. He would've been more decisive, barking orders, he wouldn't have let the team leader make decisions.

Chain of command applies...especially in a foothold situation.

More character development for Cadet Hailey. Expect to see more of her in Season 7 and quite possibily Stargate Atlantis if the spinoff happens and the writers allow the Hailey character to still be alive by then.

This is one great episode, one question though did cadet Halie know the whole thing was a set-up, she must have because she pretended to be hurt in the gate room, but all the way through the episode she didn't know it was a set-up.

Hailey did indeed know that it was a set up from the start. As she says to Lt. Elliott at the end:

Hailey - You can put me down now hero.
Elliott - You were in on it?
Hailey - How do you think that I was able to show you nanobots if they didn't really exist?
Elliott - I'm going to kill you.
Hailey - You should see what they put me through.

So it would appear that Hailey had already done her training before this particular test, and was hence able to participate and hence "discover" information that wasn't really there. She was also obviously in on the "radiation leak" in the gate room which is when they tested whether Elliott would go and save her despite facing possible death.

So yes, it was a pretty fun episode. It also marks just about the first time in season 5 that there is anything resembling a friendly banter between SC and O'Neill - the commissary scene for example.

anyone else noticed that through season 5 they've really been down playing the SC and JO romance thing.
Annoying, but probably for the best in the long run

True. But they did play it up more in season 6, particularly the second half of season 6. But that's likely because they expected season 6 to be the end of the line and were working towards some sort of conclusion.

He does die, in Season 5's "Last Stand". He became the host to Lantash, and then died to let SG-1 escape.

i didn't like him, but at least you can be glad that he died heroically- not just as some cannon fodder for the jaffa. and how come hailey didn't get on an sg team first? i know elliot was in charge and had highest rank, but i think she was the most fit to be on a team, and the sgc obviously trusted her the most. i think she should have been top pick. and i like her- she's pretty cool for a geek. It was just a mini voice synthesiser, you can buy them in a good electronics store. Don't think it would be too hard for the SGC to make their own versions.

couldn't the sg teams use them to fool the goauld..... i mean even if the goauld can't feel the presence of a symbiode (SP) they can just say they poses no naquedah in their blood which is what enebles simbiodes to be detected by another symbiode. and it would also explain why they wouldn't be able to use the devices!! it's a cunning trick!

It's a damned good idea for tactical advantage....but i cant see a goauld buying the fact that they dont have any naquada in their blood. Id love to have one of those at home tho biggrin.gif

I just want to ask if the technologies used in this episode were powered by an unknown source of energy and if my presumptions are correct I want to know what king of power sourec were the aliens using and what king of technology level did they have. smile.gif

I really liked the banter between SC and JO in the commissary...really cute!!!

I'm not too keen on Hailie, but maybe that's because I wish I had the role myself! whistling.gif
