They got it to 'work' in 1945. Without the code as you put it, they wouldn't be able to do anything with it. Most of the rest of your post had too much slang for me to follow.

Yo, first post, bin visiting u all for ages, love the posts and idea's
Okies, I have an underlaying question and its driving me mad. Its only just occured to me after watching this ep, but when Jack goes to see Thore to get all the Anciant tech out his brain, Thore tells him that the human race is the 5th race... what are the species in this ep? the 6th race? Bah, sorry I get braindead on the simplest of things |

That wasn't Thor, and he didn't say we were the fifth race. He said we have the potenial for and had taken the first steps toward becoming the fifth race in the Alliance. I don't know what the Asgards opinion of this race is, or whether they are even in the running, so to speak.

[QUOTE]Same doesn't have a sense of humor. She's wierd if you ask me. Always playing with her gadgets like a nerd. I think she should just have a one night stand with Teal'C. Once you go black, you never go back.
Ok call me stupid but I think that Sam was great in this episode. She was really cool. And thinking of Sam and Teal'c together ...A ONE NIGHT STAND!...yuk! Don't get me wrong, I like Teal'c but I would never see them togheter. Daniel would be better(I mean with Teal'c Whatever, the best parts of the ep are: Sam:What is this? Warrik: A complete operations manual for the Seberus. I had it translated for you. Sam:Thank you. Jack:Thats not our language! Sam:It's mine, sir. or Teal'c: I'm in your debt Major Carter. Sam: Indeed. |

Anybody who has seen seen Sam biting her lip at some of the situation that Jack finds himself in should have an idea of her sense of humor. Just because she doen't put down everybody in the next three counties does not mean she doesn't have a sense of humor. As for that last, Sam is not the weird one if you ask me. |

She certainly doesn't show much of a sense of humour on the show and the writers wrote her character without one. There's the odd quip here and there, but that's about it. I remember how on the Lowdown Amanda Tapping was complaining about how she can never be funny on Stargate because her character has no sense of humour... I think it's best this way though as I don't think that too much humour wouldn't work, especially with Jack having so many comic lines these days. |

I think Sam has a sense of humor, but it is written as a lot more subtle than Jack's. AT might think of it as no sense of humor because it doesn't match hers.

but Carter always kicks butt...even when the bad guys don't have butts like the replicators. I think another space race wouldn't work as well as it would no longer be new and fresh. This post has been edited by princessgater: Oct 10th 2003, 4:06 PM |

They wouldn't necessarily have to show another race in season 8. But saying that Sam is gone for that reason would be a plausible explanation for her absence from a future episode. Mostly it's Jack that goes missing on the flimsiest excuses but Sam hardly had an appearance in Enemy Mine. And I'm not sure how much we'll see her in the ep that AT is directing. Besides Sam really needs to settle the score with that "bunch of cheaters". This post has been edited by dorien: Nov 12th 2003, 8:20 PM |

AmazinG! unbelievable, unlike anything i've seen on Stargate before. Some of you may think this is an over reaction but hell no! That ep was different from a usual stargate ep and i loved it.
Ok so what did one like about it hmm lets see. The superb special effects/affects (Never sure which spelling u use Jack wasn't in the ep much but thats ok i can handle it I hope we will see more of Warrick and co and i'm happy we accuried some technology i'm sure O'Neill will be most entrigued. Hopefully hopefully hopefully the season will continue with this great success. PS: O'Neill to the receptionist said something like "Tell him that Mr I have the stargate is here" or something lol. Murry lmao This post has been edited by Jon The UK SG-1 Fan: Nov 17th 2003, 4:25 PM |

It was certainly somewhat different for a Stargate episode, it's just a shame that it wasn't too much different from a certain Star Trek: Voyager episode
Jack hasn't been in any of the Season 7 episodes much, but he has his personal reasons. I agree that it was good to see a Sam episode as there aren't too many around. There had been two Daniel episodes back to back - I think another Daniel episode would have killed me |

A reasonably good episode. I quite liked the faux news reports of the progress of the race and the adverts for products-very Starship troopers.
Another minimal Jack episode, though i didn't seem to miss him as much as I thought I would. |

Effect. Affect mean to bring about change or alter. Or to upset depending on the context. Effect means outcome or result...among other things. Besides that I mostly agree with everything you said, Jon. I had one of those stupid "oh this is gonna be so good" goofy grins on my face inside the first five minutes. I reckon the writers definitely picked up some influences from Total Recall and Hitchikers Guide with those little advert spots. The brother reminded me of Kryten out of Red Dwarf for some reason. I also got a strong Pod racer vibe from it too, especially when they were in the spares shop. But I guess there's no such thing as a completely original idea any more...it's just how well you do stuff and with how much class you do it that counts. It was totally different to just about anything else they've ever done and I like it when a series as well established as this has the balls to go and experiment a little. Oh and I loved all the team play. Jack was...well Jack, Daniel and Sam had some great scenes together (which is always nice because a lot of people get so obsessed with Sam/Jack scenes they forget that she actually has a relationship with the other two too.) Even Teal'c loosened up a bit and got to show an amusing side. Plus it was a Carter episode and I love 'em because they're so few and far between. This was simply great suspend-brain-&-enjoy stuff |

I liked this ep alot. The adverts were great. (was one of the reporters the person who played The Ashrak and the guy In Revisions?
Oh and why did they have lifts in that hq building? If they were so advanced why didn't they have some sort of matter transporter ? |

I had the feeling that I recognised one of the reporter guys from another episode too, couldn't remember which one though. It's probably not, probably just my imagination. I actually didn't think I was going to like this episode, but hell I was wrong! The only reason I thought I wasn't going to like it was because it was a Sam episode, and anyone we've had so far that have been centred around her I haven't liked. But this episode had a bit of everything, especially humour. Everybody was funny for some reason. "Eat greeven, Jarlath" even Warrick was funny, and I hated him in Forsaken, now I like him. It was so funny the way Teal'c said "Indeed" to Sam and Jack, I'm really begginning to like Teal'c this season. I mean, I've always liked him but he's just better lately. MURRAY RETURNS!!! YAY! |

Funny ep, although to a certain extent i was fairly dissapointed. I guess i expected more from the race, after all, wasnt it supposed to be this highly dangerous race, yet all the action we really saw was at the start when they were being fired upon by those drone things. However, we did get to see a more playfull side to Sam, which i hope is the start of some character development as in my opinion, she has the most underdeveloped character in the show.
Yes i liked that kind of 'racist' aspect of the ep too. The thing that i really didnt like about this ep was those 2 news presenter guys. It seemed like every 10min they would pop up and annoy the hell out of me...i thought the first one was fairly amusing, but the writers sure over did the crap out of that! Sam: Whats a girl to do? |

So did I. The former winner reminded me of Ironman champ Mark Allen. The way he talked about what the contestants were doing before the start etc was uncannily similar to commentating Mark has done for Ironman events. Maybe one of the writers likes to watch triathlons. |

I think it's just you... for some of this episode he had that orange outfit on which included a hat though. So during these scenes Christopher Judge probably wasn't wearing the emblem, but the idea was that we can't see that while he is wearing the hat. As I recall, the only times he's been without it are in dreams/hallucinations e.g. 'The Changeling', 'Gamekeeper' etc.. |

OMA! What has Damian Kindler done to the series!?
This episode was filled with all the things that annoyed be about things like Star Trek: Voyager. The Cerakans, invented by Kindler in 'Forsaken', broke Stargate's good record of having no bumpy foreheaded aliens. Admittedly, they're better than most of Westmore's plasticine "wonders", but they're still so-called aliens that don't convince me for a second that they are really alien. The Asgard are alien. The Goa'uld are alien. The white naked guys are alien. The Cerakans are not alien. While I appreciated that an alien civilisation are shown to have a dynamic economy, something that the writers of Star Trek always forget. The similarity in style to American culture is yet bumpy foreheadism. The technobabble is back. Ion drive? There are two ion powered spacecraft in space right now. Damian Kindler said on The Lowdown he has the habit of just making things up rather than researching things properly. We're seeing that right now. Those who don't do research, use technobabble. That's why there has been remarkably little technobabble throughout the series. Because all the other writers do their research! In 'Forsaken', he wrote the advanced level of the Hebridans as being a mystery that was solved with the discovery of the Cerakans, when in fact more advanced human civilisations were explained as early back as 'Enigma' and the introduction of the Tollan, a race that were killed off the year before he arrived. Yes, he did good with The Other Guys and there were some good lines in this episode, which makes it better than Star Trek's recent years, but I hope Kindler gets his act together before he becomes Stargate's Brannon Braga. It says a lot though when Stargate's worst is still better than Enterprise's best. Of course, James Tichenor is still as hot as ever. The CGI was stunning. The Hebridan city was full of colour and had a pretty spacey train. The space shots were movie quality. |
