I like this episode, but then again I liked the episode last week, and the week before. As funny as this episode is, it isnt that good - not up to the usual stargate standard. Apart from the first few episodes in this season - its becoming a one sg1 person show. This episode hardly had any appearance from Jack, Tealc and Daniel (Are they all busy now?). The direction of the show seemed to have changed.

Hopefully next week we'll see more of SG1 (the whole gang), and not the individual characters (We had two Daniel's and two Sam all in a row). I really dont see them doing a good season 8 if the team is so fragmented now. Maybe they are preparing for something...

On a good note the episode is fun to watch. One quip is that SG1 have their own N'aquida mobile dialing devices which they could have sent through to each of the stranded teams to redial back home. Does the DHD affect the stargate that much? Earth seems to be doing fine, even without the coralated update.

I really liked this one.. I don't really see how so many people could be put off by a little humor when the last 6 years have been filled with it.. it's one of the top 3 stregnths of the show.. not slapstick... just subtle, but hey.. to each his/her own..

Jay Felger is a great character to pull out once a season to show that there are other people working at the SGC. He packed duct tape into his backpack for cryin' out loud. laugh.gif But the scene would have been funnier if earlier Carter had referred to the earth dialing system as MacGyvered as she did in cotg instead of jerry rigged.

As funny an ep as it was, I'm really starting to miss the team working together. The humor wasn't always so in your face.

What's happened to the danger...drama...emotional resonance?

Loved it!!! I was funny when Carter sat on a doll that looked like her, which the clothes were messed up laugh.gif . Also loved the ending... laugh.gif . I wonder when Gen. Hammond finds out what the surprise is?

Yep I thought that was pretty funny too.

One thing that bugs me is when they were on Bhall's world and Geek said it would take days...in pops the alkesh and then they are home.

Are you saying it went from "it's gonna take day's to a few minuits or two" or did that single Alkesh defeat all of Bhaal's forces on the planet?

I liked the dream sequence too. That was so funny. Especially O'Neill. He was rather enjoying himself. lol

I do miss the team working together. I have noticed that Teal'C hasn't been in much lately.

Funny episode, although I missed coombs. For a second there I though felger was getting more action than I am. I would have had to hang my head in misery. And WHAT was that beautiful gun that Carter was firing!?! What did they stop using the p90?

The weapon was a short-barrelled AR-15 weapon with a tactical rail for the handguard. It is chambered in .223 caliber. Basically, it was a reconfigured M-16.

Boring ep. Carter is starting to piss me off? Her smartassness is getting o so old ... anyone else think so? They should bring in Jet Le to add some spice... have him be Yu's son or something

Close indeed.. the AR-15 is basically an M-16, however the model seen in the ep is a rail modified M4 on 5.56mm ammo, the short barrel you refer to is the M4 model of this series weapon, I have never seen or heard of a short barrel AR-15 for military use.

On another note I have always wondered why they would carry a P90 and not carry the FN Five-Seven as it's sidearm companion since they use the same 5.7x28mm ammunition.. I guess in it's own way it would make sense, but for practical reasons if they all had the same ammo, less confusion and ammo problems.

Lastly Teal'c needs a Desert Eagle .50, or a Taurus .454.. big man big gun, lol.. ph34r.gif wink.gif

This episode was quite good i thought, certainly one of the best this season. Its getting too obvious of the lack of the whole team, i just KNEW they were going to send Oneill and Teal'c off on a mission. Im actually starting to appreciate earlier episodes just because the whole team is there, Teal'c Oneill and Daniel had like 5minutes screentime, if that?

Anyway, nice episode tongue.gif

I now have seen the full episode of Avenger, it was great, like i said in my previous post, i did miss Coombs, I hope we get to keep the Alkesh and use it in the battle against Anubis in The Lost City episodes, imagine if we got a whole fleet of Alkesh, that would rule.

Well some of the jokes were just silly rather than funny, I felt more pity than anything else ohmy.gif

But I did laugh a bit, and overall this was an ok episode, not great, not terrible.

enjoyed it more than enemy mine though, so I'd have to give it like 5.5/10 ohmy.gif

tempted to say 6, but I'm not sure if I want to smile.gif

First off, surley the system would be immune to this sort of thing.

I was sitting there thinking this too b/c this thought came to mind:

If the Ancients were so advanced and it took them a thousand years to master this mode of transport, how the hell could this dipsh** screw it up in one day?!?!

Then they started to talk about Baal and how he may have altered the proggie and I said "WOW, how does Baal know so much about computer viruses?"

Oh well, at least we got to see a cat fight!!!! (When I saw Sam rip off her shirt I almost ......her shirt shook and her..... WOW!)

ohmy.gif huh.gif laugh.gif

Major Rocks out.

From what I gather, Felger is a dips**t of legendary proportions. Just as you can have a mighty hero who manages to be always in the right place, at the right time, and does all the right things, Felger is at the opposite extreme.

i think that that had to be my very favorite epsiode...although i wish O'neil couldve been around to crack his halarious jokes about his problems with scientists. anywho i love felger he is like a teenager when he obsesses over Carter, and i thought the dream at the end was halarious....hands down to the writers on a great ep.

I agree... lol but they compliment each other so well.. its the offset chemistry you often need.. if everyone was the same it would be a team of season one Teal'c'c, lol..

well, i thought it was decent. i think that stargate is being ruined by the seperation of the team. if they want more time with there families, what's wrong with taking a week to do an episode instead of 2 days?

anyway, i didn't really think about the manual dialing, but now that you mention it, it's starting to bug me. but what was disturbing to me when i watched it, was the ending. it was like all the jaffa were desending on carter and that geek, and then the alkesh came and it was all over. it's kinda like one of those 'and then he woke up' endings?

I think it was a good episode, funny wise......but it lacked that flawlesssubject like, the whole gate shutting down seems very unlikely if you think about it, i mean, they could dial out manually, and the SGC could send their teams a naquadah reactor to power the gate. It makes sense, right???

In my opinion, it was a good episode for laughs but had a really bad plot, too many holes and to quick of an ending. They didn't show them fixing the problem, or getting back through the gate! not every episdoe has to end in the gate room!! I would have been very happy if it had ended on the planet showing them going through the gate, with me knowing how felger and carter fixed it.

Another thing is that Jaffa are turning into babies, running away when alkesh starts shooting at it, i'm sure that couldn't have been the only jaffa on a Goa'uld inhabited planet. All i can say is, in my opinion, the writers could do better, i miss those no-matter-how-hard-you-try-you-can't-find-anything-wrong-with-it plots, and i aslo miss the on-screen chemistry of the team. When will they actually be a team again???

I like the episode, very funny ! But the end is a little strange: the dream of Felger, the mean of transportation for Teal'C and O'Neill... Maybe, we will know about it very soon.

What do you think for the explanation concerning the trouble of the DHD ? I think I have got the main explanation but not the details !! Can you give me more information ? I will see it again but I don't understand everything. It is a little complicated. By the way if you have got a manual for the Stargate, let me know !!! biggrin.gif

Overall I liked the ep. However, I think I'd like to see the battle Teal'c and O'Neill had in order to capture the Alkesh Bomber. That would've been more interesting to me than some geek and a his insecurities. It was nice to see Sam rip her coat off though....And her new weapon.....mmmmmmmm
