I really liked this episode, even though I wish I didn't smile.gif. I'm getting used to not seeing SG1 anymore. We'll all have to get used to it sooner or later anyway (Atlantis). Felger's character is really hilarious, and he reminds me of some grad students that I know.

Here's my take on the DHD and manual dialing problem. My best guess, and mostly speculative, is that the DHD acts as an interpreter or something for the gate. An update gets sent from one DHD to another, and once received that DHD then tells the gate that this symbol now means this, and that symbol means that. With earth, now correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they originally have to account for the drift on their own? Which would mean that they don't receive all of those updates. This would also explain not being able to dial out manually. And doesn't it take a lot of power to run the gate? So even once you set everything in position, you would still have to have the power to run the gate.

The phone call from his mum was funny, and I loved the ending but it would have been so much better if they'd shown more wink.gif

Not to keen on Felger, but I loved this ep anyway. It was nice to see the tables get turned on Sam... or at least see the other side of the 'everyone's in love with her' thing (how about that for understatement?) I agree that there wasn't nearly enough Jack, Teal'C and Daniel. Especially Daniel, and that isn't even my extreme favoritism speaking there... or at least not just that...rolleyes.gif I mean, how fair is it to strand him, alone except for some refugee's and extras that aren't even really there, on a planet that is FLOODING?
unsure.gif
Sorry... I just... don't think it was very nice of them...

I don't like Felger and I'm tired of being embarrased for him. A lot of stuff in the episode was too corny.

Only mildly funny. It was more like a bad stand up comic or a bad clown act. I'd much rather not have it at all.

Thank God for Felger's "Jim-Carrey-look-a-like-face", or else, the episode would have been unbearrable. Any ep without the whole of Sg-1 is doomed to be less...

I don't know about that. Some of my favorites haven't had all of SG1 present, some of them have. The difference is in the storyline.

in my opinion flat is an understatement. I really don't like Felger all that much, and his daydreams make me lose it.......

Ok, when I first heard this episode would be about a DHD/gate virus I was quite intrigued, but as I watched the episode I actually got pretty annoyed.

Firstly, when they first made it clear that Felger's virus had spread through the gate network without revealing how, I was thinking how unrealistic it was given the fact that a virus that isn't written to self-replicate simply isn't going to do this. Then when they explained about the DHD update protocol I was adequately satisfied and thought it was a pretty good idea and looked like they had really thought the whole virus spreading thing through. Then they said how Ba'al modified the virus which I thought was unlikely, but hey it's fiction.

In summary, I jumped to some conclusions only to find that they actually explained things properly, or at least well enough.

Anyway, I still think this was the worst episode of the Season so far, but it was still enjoyable to watch as always biggrin.gif

I haven't got much to say about this episode, other than it's made me realise how much I miss SG-1 as a team. It hasn't bothered me up until now, but now I'm just longing for a good episode where SG-1 go to some planet on a mission as a team, not in pairs or on their own, but altogether.

I didn't really likethis episode, mostly because of Felger. He's always bugged me, now they've gone and made me really hate him. He just does my head in mad.gif And the whole thing about Baal being able to adjust the virus for his own purposes seemed a little unbelievable to me. Baal is one of my favourite System Lords, but now he's suddenly a wizz with virus' aswell? Hmm...just doesn't fit in my books.

The humour I though was quite bad. It wasn't really funny, more annoying and stupid. I think I just didn't like this ep so much because Daniel was in it for all of about 3 minutes max!

Worst episode of the season so far I think, but still, I can think of worse from earlier seasons...

Jury is still out on this one.

On the one hand the science behind it sucked, Felgar started off lovably annoying and rapidly descended into farcically overblown. The team just wasn't; Teal'c became wallpaper and Daniel became a poorly developed plot device to heighten the supposed danger to the team.
Actually I think having Daniel and Jack/Teal'c in different perilous situations was supposed to add a degree of drama and tension to the proceedings. I think we're supposed to be seeing it through Carter's eyes. She's worrying about her team mates all throughout. Someone here said it better when thay pointed out that it would have benefitted from a little more action here and there. i.e. actually seeing some scenes from both Daniel and Jack/Teal'cs point of view.
It would also have benefitted from less exposition about what the virus actually did and how it was going to be fixed, and more actually showing us the scenes where they uploaded and let us see for ourselves what happens. I think they sacrificed this for the opportunity to make Felgar look even more pathetic. I couldn't even feel sorry for him at the end.
On top of all that, what exactly was the moral of the tale? I kind of got the feeling they wanted to show us some kind of transformation in Felgar -from loser geek to someone who actually made a contribution by fixing the gate system. Like we're supposed to feel sorry for him or cheer him on as the underdog and be ultimately glad when he can overcome his insecurities to save the day. Doesn't really work though.

On the other hand it was damn funny and contained so many little in jokes and those little watch-it-again-to-get-them-all moments that I couldn't help but enjoy it.
The duct tape in the bag, the messed up blonde doll that Carter sat on and that Felgar had been clearly...er...playing with. The nonexistent ducks, the Carter shutting Felgar off when he starts to technobabble, the phonecall from mom.
Then there's all those moments that emphasises the weird quasi love triangle (quadrangle?) thing that we had going on. Felgar fancies the arse of Carter (and who wouldn't?) and Chloe only has eyes for Felgar. Felgar constantly trying to impress Carter and snubbing poor old patient Chloe. The hilarious daydream sequence and Carter's amazing low cut bouncing...er...yeah a girl can notice these things too! unsure.gif

Anyway, I also have to say that if (and I stress the if, mind you) I was a projecting shipper type I'd probably find a lot to comment on with regards to Jack and Sam in this episode. Like how he tags along with her to Felgars lab and how Felgar seems so disapointed that he's there. And how concerned over his safety she is when the jaffa attack, and how concerned over her safety he is when she's on the planet...concerned enough to charge in to the rescue (on the subject, did anyone think that bit was oddly reminiscent of the scene outside the generator station on Endor in Return Of The Jedi?). Not to mention that he's enjoying that bitch fight just a little too much at the end...ok so that was a dream sequence...clearly Felgar is a secret shipper then, despite his lust for Carter.

Anyway, apart from missing the team and desperately needing a non character centric adventure, y'know just for a change, there was just too much about this episode that I liked to dismiss it outright.

Well done Miss Thize - you get a gold star........ok cant find gold star how bout yellow smiley face?? biggrin.gif toooshay old girl.

Just to echo the thoughts of most people here.....I too miss the team thing. Yeah i unserstand RDA taking time off for his daughter, all for it, but are MS and CJ visiting his daughter aswell?? Why are they also absent from the programme? Bring back the good old days, it just aint the same. If it aint broke....

And as a shameless shipper I too have become more aware of certain moments between Jack and Sam...just little expressions of concern every now and then that weren't there before. Perhaps they are breaking us in gently, leading us up to the big finale in the J/S saga. I like it, another helping of the same please.

apparently there is a small shippy bit in next week's show too - yeehah roll on Monday nights.

Didnt think very highly of this ep. It was trying its best to be funny but failing miserably. Definitely the worst ep of season 7 so far.

Would a 'complete screw up' really work for a top secret government installation in reality - i think not. Dont want to see any more Felger.

OMG I loved this ep, oh the humour the humour laugh.gif
We saw quite a bit of Jack as well which was pretty good and the whole Felger in his apartment with the Stargate models cracked me up. I thought Carter's new gun was so great the way it was just ripping through Jaffa armour. Who else thought the way Jay came through the gate was great arms above his head and all smile.gif
I know that the last part was a dream just like "The Other Guys", so technically Chloe does or doesn't like him? Because she still gave him that really long good luck kiss. king.gif

Great ep especially like the way Carter called Chloe a "Trollop" and O'Neill and Jay were watching them fight. Superb!
