I had very high hopes for this episode, but it actually turned out to be a dissappointment for me. At least it did set up things pretty well for the second part at least...
I just found that there was little or no action or suspense. Sure, it was really funny in places, but that barely makes up for it in my opinion. I mean humour is good, but I thought the episode was just very lacking in other respect. I guess it was them trying to set up for part 2, but it could have been a lot better. I found it interesting to see some "behind the scenes" stuff, although it was still on the show, so behind the scenes in the sense that it was stuff the characters do outside of the episodes. The scenes with SG-13 were really odd, in the sense that we have never seen another team isolated like that and actually had them in an episode... it was kind of like they were replacing SG-1's usual role in the show. I have always wondered what the other teams get up to off-world though. What I found even stranger however is that the leader of SG-13 was a Colonel (might have been Lt. Col. I guess) and we rarely see that except in the flagship teams... mostly the leaders are Majors or maybe even Lieutenants. I guess maybe the teams aren't numbered by their importance Was it just me or did the special effect of the wall falling on the probe look really really fake and badly done? I thought it looked very unrealistic For me, the high point in the episode was of course the humour... the interview scenes were really funny and the one with Sgt. Davis was just hilarious Overall, I guess it was okay-good, but I think my high expectations were clouding my judgement a little. I'd give it 5/10 (which might seem low, but 10/10 is the best episode on my scale and 1/10 is the worst... that makes it average). .... oh and for those wondering, the spoiler event that has been all over the forums considering this episode didn't happen yet, but they set it up to happen. I guess we have to wait until next week... This post has been edited by Aesir: Feb 3rd 2004, 4:33 PM |

OMG OMG OMG!!
I thought that was amazing!! was that an ad lib when Dr Fraiser said O'Neill has had 3 knee ops (didn't RDA have 3 ops on his knee?) I thought the answers Sam gave were a little unconvincing when she was asked about her relationship with O'Neill - a little shippiness there. It was a little like a behind the scenes of the show and getting the cast to say what their roles are. I particularly liked the way Daniel played with them by running down the corridor to see if they'd chase him I also thought a few aspects were dissapointing for example, when the probe attacked I thought oh, no Star Wars all over again. The staff weapon testing was sooo James Bond. Jack swearing at Kinsey!! I definately lipread/heard SOB (not shortened) I have it recorded so I will watch again and repost This post has been edited by Draconus: Feb 3rd 2004, 4:26 PM |

I thought the episode was REALLY good. Definitely very humorous which I liked. Such funny moments included:
When Teal?c wasn?t talking whilst being interviewed. Reporter: ?Major Carter meet 6 ? billion people? Carter: ???..hi?? Carter: ?Its hard to believe that we?ve been at it so long (1000 missions)? O?Neill: ?There should have been a cake!? An absolutely IMMENSE bit was when they were interviewing the Gate Technician! He told them he said ?Chevron 1 encoded, Chevron 2 encoded, incrementally up until chevron 7, then I like to shake it up a little and say Chevron 7 Locked?!!!! Then something about the SG teams knowing that someone was on the other side receiving the transmitter codes?.it gives the technicians REAL pride!! That was just one of the best bits of the show for me!!! Storyline is very good aswell. That advanced piece of technology that attacked the team was very good. Goa?uld have to copy everything?.have to admit their malp is better than ours!! Why didn?t we think of putting shields on our MALPS??? Kinsey bit was CRAP, hate him still. Shocked that they cut off Colonel O?Neill swearing at him during the offworld activation so you couldn?t here anything!! This shows gets a definite 9 and a half /10 for me!!! Brilliant, can?t wait for next week?s 2nd half!!! Couldn?t believe where they cut it off!! Shocking, next episode should be immense with hordes of action?.Jaffa from a ship?what else can I say?We are getting action at last! |

I loved this episode, especially the subtle humour all through it. i have to say i wasnt expecting this episode to be funny due to the anticipated death of janet, but it was a pleasant surprise.

I was also surprised that this was a humourous episode considering Janet dies in the two parter, however i thought it was brilliant!!
OMG i can't believe i have to wait a whole week to see the second part, i need to see it now!! Was it just me or was everyone screaming at the TV "don't go Janet" when she was called to go to the gateroom (or wherever it was), Everyone was funny in this episode, i espeically liked Sams response to Emmett saying "Major Carter say hello to 6 billion people of the world", "........hi..." (looked terrified!!, hehe, bless her) Overal i though this ep was brill and can't wait for next week |

Subtle? More like a sledgehammer! I really enjoyed this episode although I expected more from all the hype. At the Evening With Chris said to everyone to be patient, record part 1, and watch the two together next Tuesday, "because it flows better". So I'm thinking that the second part has all the bits lacking from this episode that Aesir mentioned in his post, and that by watching the together it becomes a much more rounded episode. I absolutely loved all the interview scenes. I know we've already seen it on the Lowdown but I've got to say Jack's 3 second interview whilst walking down the hall was so funny! And I thought it was so funny when Daniel asked Sam how she avoided the question of the gate going public by saying, 'oh I babbled incoherently'. Overall the episode definitely gets a thumbs up and I can't wait til next Tuesday, although I am meeting Teryl on Friday which might pad out the wait just a little This post has been edited by blue jello: Feb 3rd 2004, 4:41 PM |

I really loved this episode! I liked it for two main reasons:
1- lots of humour 2- it was something different The interview with Teal'c was hilarious! His face when he just sat their had me cracking up in fits. And when Daniel set off running when his beeper went and the guy asked him why they were running - "I just wanted to see if you would chase me" This episode also cleared up one of the many mysteries that has bugged me for ages. Finally we find out why Chevron Guy says "Chevron 7, locked". I always wondered about that... I was a little confused for the first half of the ep as to how they could possibly steer it towards the terrible fate of a dearly beloved certain somebody So, loved this ep. One of, if not the favourite so far 8.75 out of 10 (I rarely give out 9's, has to be really special for that!) |

I had been looking forward to this for a few weeks and it didn't disappoint me. This was, in my opinion, a fantastic episode. I loved the humour after all the weeks of serious plot and character development, it was good to see an episode where it wasnt the same idea; a character could die, although there is a return to this next week. This isn't to say it wasn't informative in a way but I liked it because it wasn't so fact heavy, and I do have a penchant for cliffhangers.
Some things were left hanging though. I want to know what Goa'uld sent that probe? It cant have been Anubis for two reasons; 1. The probe had detailed images of the ruins which were Ancient. If it had been Anubis he would have sent people to the site to investigate immediately. 2. When SG-13 was attacked they reported seeing Jaffa, had it been Anubis he would have sent a Drone. They must clear this up in Part 2 because , in my opinion, they can't leave it. It would drive me crazy. I also found it rather surprising that Dr. Frasier didn't know what an "unscheduled off-world activation" was. She has been there six years and she doesn't know what it means. It was also nice to see her get a nice long speech before.......... + Sam, Teal'c and Daniel's interviews. PRICELESS! + Jack: I hope the shots of my ass serve you well. LOL + The leader of SG-13's (can't remember his name) "talk" about kids. LOL! The best part for me had to be the interview with Sgt. Davis. "I like to mix it up a bit so I say Chevron 7...locked,...oh and I am also responsible for the Iris opening and closing." That is quite possibly the funniest thing ever to have been in Stargate. It was hilarious. Especially the way that the other technicians look round in amusement when he says that he is quite proud that the teams prefer to have him instead of an automated system. I have never laughed so hard! There is really nothing bad that I can think of right now. Maybe later. This episode was the best of the season, period. It had the humour, the wit, and even some info. Did I menion the humour? It was amazing. Thats why it gets 9.5/10. If Part 2 is half as good, I will be very happy. This post has been edited by jaffagod: Feb 3rd 2004, 5:05 PM |

I still can't believe that they're killing off Janet!!!
After seeing the episode one thing comes to mind - there was Siler trying out that new armour which resisted staff blasts - and the only way she can die is by being shot by a staff! I guess the armour may only be in the experimental stage but still - shes only a doctor - you would have thought they would have given her protection. Still, very funny episode in my opinion - especially the look on the technicians face who was standing behind Sergeant Davis while he was going on about "the human face behind the iris codes" I think the moment between Jack and Kinsey should be recorded for posterity - at last someone told him what we ALL feel towards him!!! Give Jack a medal - give him two - give him five |

for me one of the funnier parts was where norman walter davis was talking about how all he does is say 'chevron 1 encoded', and so on. The humour behind that was that in his interview( i have forgotten how to spell the right word), he say the lines he had to read, ' chevron 1 encoded'(and so on) and he thought that it would sound boring, so he tried to make it more interesting. And I quote,
OK, enough quote for on hidden joke, but you get the idea, i hope On the whole, i liked the episode, but it lacked enough action, i supose thats why they had sg-13 shoot the flying saucer.... |

This episode wasn't really what I expected. It was certainly very funny in places but I thought there would be more action or tension or something. Hopefully, there'll be a lot more action and tension next week.
Wasn't the Colonel escorting the film crew the same guy as the ATF agent from "Seth"? |

Ah how many ways did I love this episode!
Proof again that nobody can send up Stargate with quite the same amount of class as Stargate does itself. I think this was just a great little self parody-cum love letter to the fans. So many little in-jokes to spot. I think I could watch it a dozen times and still spot something new. My favourites were Chevron Guy and his little interview (I just kept thinking about that scene in Spinal Tap where it goes up to eleven and there's not real explanation for it), and Sam's "It's hard to believe we've been at it so long" to Jack (Now there's a double entendre if ever I saw one Everyone absolutely shone here and yet again you could see how much fun they had making this. I particularly loved Teal'c's interview and Carter's second interview which was, if you want, a nice little dig at all those shippers out there. Heh! Nicely done. I also liked the suggestion of shots of Jack's ass. I for one won't be objecting (I reckon they've been reading the Guys Of Stargate thread myself). The colonels speech about kids. I'm sure I've heard that somewhere before. Can't quite place it but it was very familiar. Also the droid thing was just so Star Wars ep 5 that it had to be deliberate. I did like SG13 though. I liked the little bet they had and the "Dr Jackson's gonna die when he sees this...again" comment. If I had to pick something I didn't like about this epsiode it's that it didn't end with much of a cliffhanger that makes me on the edge of my seat waiting for next week. Really I've never thought Stargate does two parters all that well actually and this really isn't much of an exception. I think it would definitely play out a lot better if it had been shown as one continious ninty minute episode...of course I'm making assumptions about what will happen next week but I have a feeling it's going to be totally different in tone. It's going to be bit of a rollercoaster ride. |

i got the impression she was pretending she didn't know what it was. I thought that was a great episode, can't wait for never week, i get the impression that gona be a pretty heavy one so thought it was good the way they start it off light hearted. So many good bits, i was in fits of laughter in Teal'cs interview and the chevron guys one, his personality is so like i imagined it in my fics lol. Daniel was very cute in front of the camera and Carter getting nervous awww. Loved watching Carter digging herself a hole in the 2nd interview lol. So will Jack finally give his interview next week? i thought it shouldn't really be a 2 parter just coz it ended randomly but at the same time i can see why it needs to be one. Mayb they shud have just stopped it sum where else. Carters quote bout the gate smoking was v funny, and yeh i thought the 'It's hard to believe we've been at it so long" was a bit of a double entendre too but maybe thats just my overly shippy mind. Anyway role on next week!! |

Hi all
All in all this was a great episode. It was refreshing and very funny. When I wasn't smiling I was laughing, and when not smiling laughing. So Anubus went into a parallel universe and stole an Empire drone, hmmm. There is not much else to say about it accept for part should be good! It was nice to see an appearance from Mr X-Files super soldier (what's his name?). |

I loved this ep!!!
The humour is just oozing out of every pore....From the interviews to the SG13 team (which I liked: finally get to centre a bit on another team, and they all seemed to be more "human" than previous SG teams (who were only shells)), to Kinsey and Jack.....Great great ep! I was expecting this to be a really boring ep. IT really surprised me. Hopefully Season 7 will continue this trend! This was really great. |

Another good episode and I think the second part will have all the big bangs in store for us. I thought the episode started out slowly before the theme and everything. But the interviews were brilliant and Teal'c staring at them looked like his face was photoshopped or something.
On the negative side, I really hated the probe. It looked way too star wars for my liking. And I cant believe they dont think of examining the probe first instead of sending out an aerial survey which Daniel blamed himself for. On a sentimental note, I just wanted to cry when they showed Fraser at the end. Looks like they gave her most of the airtime towards the ending which was good considering they will loose her. She looked too cute to me - especially this episode Bottomline - 7/10. And I sure hope they dont have much of the reporter next time. Its not stargate PS: Anyone notice how the MP5 sounded like a P-90?? (I payed attention only cause someone already mentioned it) This post has been edited by Varun: Feb 4th 2004, 2:55 AM |

I always watch part one's and when you get the 'To be continued' I tend to vegitate for the rest of the week. Who thinks I shall be able to resist? Cliff |

I couldn't stop laughing throughout this episode PS: Also thought the Goa'uld "MALP" was a cool idea and the way the Colonel took it out was pretty nifty. This post has been edited by Jon The UK SG-1 Fan: Feb 4th 2004, 3:38 AM |

Ok, she was bluffing, that makes sense. But how thick is the reporter!!! "Unscheduled offworld activation" is pretty self-explanatory once you know the Stargate's there. That was a pretty major flaw. Besides that it was a reasonably good ep, nothing spectacular though. |
