Well, I was a bit dubious about this one while watching it first time, but I had the feeling that would change once I got past the usual 'it's flatter than the hype made it seem' syndrome which has afflicted me generally throughout this season. I seem to be disappointed because I've hyped myself up for something spectacular and then on a second and third viewing I really enjoy it.
Referencing the fact that it was funny, which surprised some posters - I figure it was deliberately set up that way so that the darker second part has more impact. A deliberate contrast. As Jack would say, "It's all fun till someone breaks a nail." <G> I did enjoy the humour in this one - most of my favourite moments have already been tagged by other posters. I was literally crying with laughter at some points - during Jack's rant at Kinsey for one. LOL. I thought even funnier than the actual rant was his, "Are you going to get this?" and "I was done." ROTFL. And I don't think you needed to try too hard on that lipreading someone mentioned earlier. <G> Loved Daniel's "Just wanted to see if you would chase me." But he really cracked me up when he covered his face and looked away from the camera right after that line, so they wouldn't see him laughing. And just the way that Teal'c says, "No" when the interviewer asks if Hammond didn't also tell him that answering questions was part of an interview had me ROTFLing. And poor Silar in the infirmary getting patched up. The little in-jokes and references scattered around were fun. Walter's chevron interview - a classic. The 'who'd have thought we'd still be doing this'. Janet's interview cataloguing Jack's many injuries and 'Oh, that's the Hathor incident, which he told me never to mention". I did think that it was cut at a very peculiar point for a two parter - that did seem a little flat. I kind of went, "Oh - is that it?". But, as others have said already, I think that this really seems to need to be seen in the context of part two, as a complete entity with both parts, rather than an episode on its own. It was, in part, very much less an episode per se than it was a setting up of part two. And I may have been influenced there anyway by spoilers because I was kind of expecting that 'to be continued' would come up over that shot we've all seen of Jack lying unconscious on the ground while some kind of firefight goes on in the background. So, in contrast, the real ending did seem a little low key. <g> I also liked the little quiet moment between Janet and the interviewer in the canteen and Hammond running interference. And they mentioned Cassie, so I presume that they won't forget her when Janet dies. That was something that had been bothering me. All in all - already a favourite episode. Not as much fun as WoO or Urgo because the humour and fun is tainted by the knowledge that things are going to turn much darker in part two, but still a very, very funny episode that I'm going to watch a lot, I think. And I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for Tuesday. Albion This post has been edited by Albion: Feb 4th 2004, 7:05 AM |

I don't think Dr. Fraiser was lying or pretending when she said she didn't know what an unscheduled off-world activation is. Unscheduled activations can occur for a number of reasons. For example: - an SG team returning earlier than expected due to injuries or whatever. - aliens coming through the gate (asgard, nox, whatever) -gould attack or smth. I think she meant that she didin't know the reason behind the activation and therefore the interviewrs' guess was as good as hers. Now on a different note... I liked the humorous tone of this episode. The downside for me was the interviewer guy. I think too much time was devoted to his problems and struggles. At the end, it seems like he got the most airtime of all the characters, and I don't care a fig about him. I hope less attention will be devoted to him in part two. What's with O'Neill and Mary Steenburgen? Does one of the writers have a fetish about her, or is it somehow RDA's idea? |

Liked this ep. I was expecting a bit more action, but im hoping that it has been saved till part 2.
Which part did Adam Baldwin actually play? Unless he looks totally different to how i remember him, i dont remember seeing him. A few people have said that Janet Fraiser wouldnt know what an 'unscheduled off world activiation' is. What???. Shes the chief medical officer of the SGC for gods sake. i think that she'll know what it means - considering that virtually everytime one has occured she has either been called to the gate room to deal with the injuries or has had injured SG teams sent to the infirmary. |

Ill, people actually liked this episode. This episode makes "Life Goes On" seem exciting. I understand that they're not actually allowed to change the SG1 universe because they already started working on the movie script, but does it have to be so obvious. Every episode this season just seems like they're stalling until the end of the series.
Warning: This episode is filled with 'geek humor'. If you're going to watch it make sure that you're alone or may receive a severe beating from your friends. It's really only stuff that an avid SG1 fan would get. This post has been edited by ccl28: Feb 4th 2004, 1:34 PM |

Adam Baldwin was the CO of SG13. It was nice seeing him again - especially as I'd spent the past two days catching up with Firefly on DVD.
And that reminds me of a funny moment I meant to mention but forgot in my earlier post which had me LOLing - whatsisname being disqualified for being a smartass for betting on trees. I think I'd have to disagree that you have to be an avid Stargate fan to appreciate the humour in this episode - I think all you need is a sense of humour. <g> It wasn't entirely composed of in jokes and even a lot of the in jokes could be widely appreciated. Most of it was pretty self-explanatory. Regarding the time spent on SG13 and how it could have been SG1 - I thought that myself as I was watching, especially as they'd made the archaeologist of SG13 so like Daniel. But of course there's a very good reason why those scenes couldn't be focused on SG1 - which will become clear in part two, of course, if the spoilers turn out to be true. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, many of the humorous scenes have been mentioned but i still have to say that the best scene was Davis' child like job. Open the Iris.... Close the iris lol.
I think another funny bit for me was when the SG-13 archaeologist came running back shouting "incoming?. I could almost read his thoughts! Oh and i actually hate myself for this but i felt sorry for Kinsey. He look so hurt after Jack had...well told him his opinion. Then i realised how evil he is and started laughing greatly. However, even though i did find this entire episode extremely funny my laughing was overshadowed by the knowledge of what will happen in the next episode. I think i am going to have to salute the TV and have tissues on standby. I just think "It" will be quick as that usually has the most impact, no speeches from the person in question. Anyway except that i think this episode deserves 9/10 because of its sheer humour and brilliance!!!!! |

This has got to be one of my favourite episodes of all time... I'm shocked that it should be in season 7.
Seriously though- I can't praise this ep enough. Very funny. Loads of team interaction. Loads of interaction from everyone else in the SGC. We saw Chevron guy speak for once, Sgt Siler getting shot by a staff weapon (don't worry- he had amazing plastic armor on), this new and frankly hilarious Colonel (played by Adam Baldwin- he was great!) And of course our beloved Doc Fraiser- she's so pretty- why the hell do they wanna get rid of her?(Damn storyline.) And she seemed to like Emmet as well- he was the star of the show by the way- very amusing/charming- such a great actor! (I remembered liking him in Fraser as well- as Daphne's fiance.) On a private note- I don't know about the ladies out there- but Rick Anderson was somehow amazing in this ep. I don't know why- but he did certain things in this ep that made me remember what it's like to be attracted to the wonderful character of Col. Jack O'Neill. 1. The quote about "having to film his ass" as he ran away from the news crew...Enough said I think. 2. When he said, "I think Tibet should be free" 3. The way he ignored and swore at Kinsey as the alarms went off... That swarmy self-righteous *bleep*! Anyway- to conclude on my opinion- loved every second of it. Though my heart sank in the way that it ended. Poor Doc Fraiser- had she stayed behind in the cafeteria and not gone to this ancient planet??? She may have married Emmet and lived happily ever after...How sad. 10 out of 10. ps:- Oh! And the team- esp Daniel was tip-top. Loved the way Sam patronised Teal'c and Daniel- they really are like a family in this ep- love love loved it people- thankyou writers/everyone else for entertaining me on a normal Wednesday afternoon. Shol'va! Leave our site! And take your "friends" with you. Hmph!
Really? I liked him. Along with that other guy....and the other one. I really liked SG13
Yeah, it really doesn't take much to appreciate the humor here You know....I haven't read ANY spoilers for Heroes 2 (except the...well....big one), so I suppose that's impacted my view of it. I'm more inclined to like it because I'm not really expecting much action or anything for the first one. This is kind of like wormhole x-treme in that I'm sure the cast had a ton of fun making it, but also because the auidence can have fun with them. It's not a very serious ep, and I love those! Wow....This is a great ep. Great great great. In fact, I'm willing to say it's one of the top eps EVER in Stargate. I love it!!!
This is my sentiments exactly!!!!! Most eps in Season 7 are good...but not great. I'll watch a few of them again (Fallout) but otherwise...eh. But this one...Right after I saw it, I had to see it again! And again! Definitely the standout of season 7!!!! This post has been edited by SlavsyaRossiya: Feb 4th 2004, 3:34 PM |

Good for the most part. Funny, but more action needed.
Main points: The probe (another Star Wars rip off) The betting-funny Teal'cs interview Stupidity of not guessing 'Offworld activation' Can guess part 2- Daniel decides to take a pic of the action, Janet gets killed a result. Journalist realises what he's done (he DOES fancy her) and gives up as a result. Overall 7/10 |

I can't believe I've already posted on this a few times and never managed to mention my only real problem with it.
I still don't understand why Frasier was taken offworld with SG1. I mean it doesn't make much sense does it? Why put your medic right smack in the middle of a firefight and risk getting them killed, when they can stay nice and safe back at the SGC and you can bring the wounded to them, where they have all the equipment to deal with them? That's been the method used for six seasons - what the heck is different about this situation that makes it imperative Frasier goes traipsing out into the woods instead? I didn't see anything that justified it. Anyone? Albion |

My feelings are kinda mixed in this episode. It was nice to see Fraiser get some humor time and I like how the whole team tried to elude the issue as much as they could.
For me this was not a repeat watch episode. Just one of those that you say you watched it just to keep up to date on the plotline. |

I can answer that. If you watch you'll see that it's mentioned that one of SG13 has been hit and that they're pinned down by the enemy. Apprently this means that they need urgent medical attention and that they can't get out so the medic has to go to them.
Notice how it's the bloke who's wife is expecting a sprog who went down too? What a terribly obvious cliche. It could only have been done tongue in cheek and deliberately. Cirus: How many ways do I hate you now. Oh let me count the ways... |

Yes, but they never have before. We've had similiar situations in the past, but no one's sent a medic out to them. No one sent a medic out to Jack and Tyler in The Fifth man for example. Heck, Hammond wouldn't even let a rescue misson go out to them, let alone anyone else. Urgent medical attention or not, it seems insane and nonsensical to send a medic out into the frontlines in such circumstances. The chances are that all that will happen is they end up being shot before they even get to tending to the wounded. Course, I know zip about the air force and how it operates. Anyone who does know if this kind of thing would happen? Albion |

Yes - however, SGC have never used them, as far as I recall. This is my point. Unless someone can recall an episode where Janet acted as one?
But right now, far as I remember, it's never been SGC operational procedure that Janet goes offworld to deal with wounded. They always come to her. So, I'm wondering what's different now about this situation to change that. Albion This post has been edited by Albion: Feb 4th 2004, 5:01 PM |

A good epsiode, but i wont be watching it again. In my view they've strayed way off what made a show a hit in the first place. The really good episodes of earlier seasons could be watched time and time again. This doesnt fit into taht catagory and most of season seven is the same.
I only hope the rest of the season gets back to basics. Jus my opinon Mike |

I disagree. This has many of the elements of earlier eps:
-A team (I admit it's not SG1, but still a great team) goes through the gate to an alien world. -SG1 interacts with each other! -Humour! -The goa'uld are involved in some way. While it was more balanced towards the humor, we haven't seen too much of 1 or 2 in Season 7. We've mainly gone to allied worlds or worlds we already know. And now SG1 is going to go battle on a world they don't know of. I love it Edit: In fact, if Heroes 2 goes the way I think it will, then I believe it will signal the writers "getting their act together". In fact, is'nt some new person writing now? I remember one occasion where Janet went offworld. During 'One Flase Step' in series 2, she goes to the planet to determine what has happened to the aliens. I particualarly remember the line as she came through the gate - "Now this is a housecall"
Admittedly, she wasn't dealing with wounded SGC personel, and they weren't in the line of fire, but she still did go offworld. ps. It was nice to see the journalist guy in a funny-ish, nice role - since the last time I saw him was in Star Trek - where he wasn't the friendliest of folks |

*teryl_brat42 clears her throat*
Oh My Gosh! I LOVED this ep! All together now, "Yay! Janet smiles and laughs and is happy and drinks and eats and, and, awwwwww!" Yes, nothing quite like a last meal of fruit and what was that, coffee? Well, that's my vote. Ok, the best part was the flirting comment. Wow, she's so cute! And at the end, wasn't everyone just screaming NOOOOOO!!!!! when the guy came and told her that she was needed in the ready room? Jezze, I was just about in tears then. Wasn't Janet a little more, um, ditzy is not quite right, but it'll have to do for now. It actually seemed as though Teryl's personality showed through a little when Janet was not in Doctor Mode. At first I was thinking that maybe the highlights in her hair were finally getting to her, but then it dawned on me that she wouldn't be in Doctor Mode all the time and I just revelled in the moment. I took great joy in seeing her outspokenness. I always knew she was a groovy chick. First the flirting comment, then strait to asking about the ring, then the Cassie part 'she's from another planet' without batting an eye. EDIT: As for Janet going offworld, this will be her 9th trip (if you count Fail Safe even though we didn't see her off world). Singularity, One False Step, Forever in a Day, Past and Present, 2010, Fail Safe, Allegiance, Lifeboat, and of course, Heroes. Ok, if I missed one, I should be shot! If I don't stop now, I never will. So, I'll see y'all again after the sh*t hits the fan. This post has been edited by teryl_brat42: Feb 4th 2004, 10:26 PM |

This episode was not what I expected.
But none of them are because I don't read spoilers. I actually like to be surprised. Which is the reason I am really mad that some of you gave away that Janet dies. The following people broke the spoiler rule: carlos MajorSCarter Commander-Thor? Albion The Doctor I now feel free to break another rule: You are all a$$holes Besides that, I though the ep was above average. The humor made up for the lack of action, but just barely. It took me 20 sec to figure out it was going to be a weird ep, and just another 10 to guess that it was the 150th ep, but it turns out that is not 'til next week. 6/10 |

I liked this episode. I'm thinking that this episode was the calm before the storm. Kinda off topic but wasn't Adam Baldwin trying to get a spot on Stargate Atlantis? I thought he played his part brilliantly in this episode!
