is it just me or did the rest of sg-1 not welcome Daniel back as much as they should have? I mean the guy just died a year ago and it was like, ok he's back now so we can act like nothing ever changed?.....I dunno, this episode just didn't feel quite right to me.

I thought it was funny how after Sam and Jack destroyed the super weapon, Hammond was like, oh good job...and that was that. I guess he is just desensitized to saving the world. huh.gif

While I do believe some of the aspects of these episodes were dissappointing, I think the Star Wars and ID4 references were on purpose, not to copy them but as a tribute and/or satire. Listen to Jack's one liners and you'd understand...

That of course is the biggest fault of this episode, Jack's one liners were SO forced. When he'd shoot off a one liner every time he spoke, it ceased being funny and started being annoying. It did seem like this episode was poorly thrown together, but I'd give them the benefit of the doubt because "Full Circle" was originally meant to be a series finale..Although there is no excuse for the poor delivery on the part of the actors, especially RDA, he came off REAL flat...so did MS...I hope they give him his full memory back soon....

AT, CJ, and even CN were pretty good though...

Yu is paranoid so he didn't ever attack...he never got to the rendez-vous point. so he couldn't possibly take over the planet...he never got there

Baal made an agreement not to take over the planet...thats why he didnt. his main concern is to get rid of anubis, since he poses the biggest threat to him and the goa'uld.

i always enjoy o'neill's one liners, its been developed as his sense of humour. that is paying homage to shows...

stealing entire scenes is not paying homage, its lack of creativity. the red leader one liner would have been enough for homage. and i agree, o'neill had way too many one liners in these episodes, it was forced.

bowley, you make a good point that Gen. Hammond has become desensitized to constantly saving earth and the universe...in the end of season 1, beginning of season 2...sg1 and bratak save the planet from apophis and klo'rel...and o'neill makes a sly remark when they return "what, no fanfare?" Gen. Hammond hasn't really ever been ecstatic over saving the universe.

Anyways... 701 - strange and mixed emotions... it really was a ROTJ ripoff... crap sad.gif But i loved the "No, but he plays one one TV" joke... i almost pissed myself with that one laugh.gif
702 - Better... predictable - yes.. but better. Well, it was a slow start. but a start anyway... 20+ eps to go, and i'm lookinf forward for some really good shows! w00t.gif

Heh, I thought I heard F-302 instead of the X.

So you're not the only one but maybe we're just crazy, eh? Can anybody else vouch for us? F-302 instead of X-302?

Yup. Just watched the part where Carter is briefing them on the F-302 attack on Anubis. She did say F-302, so maybe their changing it so it would be like the US fighter vessels(F-16, F-22, etc.)

it wasn't really that. they barely told us stuff we didn't know. it was basically just for people who didn't know anything about stargate to get them interested, and they showed lots of scenes from lots of episodes, and some of them filming the episodes, and the cast talking about each other.

Uh oh...watch out....next week's episode Jack says "mini me". Does that mean everyone's going to be bitching that it's just like Austin Powers?

So what if it was like Star Wars? I LIKE Star Wars....and it wasn't exactly like it anyway. EVERY thing that involves a battle out in space is going to be similar to Star Wars.

I liked it!

I guess I'll have to dig out my Star Wars tapes and watch them again, because I don't feel like they ripped it off. But oh well...we're entitled to disagree, aren't we? smile.gif

It seems perfectly logical to me that they'd rename the X-302s to F-302s, because as I understand it, "X-#" names are for prototypes and experimental aircraft. When they get the X-303 "Promethius" to work properly, they'll most probably change the X to something else (not "F", as that is assigned to fighters). Since the USAF doesn't have any craft that is anything like the X-303 (as far as we know), they'll probably need to assign it a new letter...like...M for Mothership or something...

I can't understand what all the "rip-off " comments are coming from. The writers have been inserting Sci-Fi jokes and parodies for years, some have been more subtles and most are utterly undetectable except by those hardcore sci-fi fans, but it's not like it's something completely new. True, this one was glaringly obvious, but the fact that they set it up with the whole "I thought we where going with Red Leader for this one" makes it clear that it was a joke rather that a shameful attempt to rip-off A New Hope.

Stop whining!
Big deal! I frankly don't care! I thought they were using the Star Wars thang as a joke on their part because it was very similar to the real thing with the hyperspace and the manoeuvering Jack did.
Thought it was a great season opener, and I'm looking forward to all the other eps- so tongue.gif

My complaint about ripping off star wars was that the producers and writers of stargate stole SCENES. I always love the one liners. Those are respectable and entertaining.

First time posting...
As far as the whole Gen. Hammond being de-sensitized, i think it has something to do with the fact that
A) The whole project is classified, so it's not like they can hold a parade or something
cool.gif It's every SG member's job to do what they do. It's not like I go to work and everytime I do something that I am supposed to, they give me an award
C) Simply to get to the rank of "General" I'd imagine that you would have to seem some pretty serious stuff
Those points aside, I do remember the SG-1 team getting SOME recognition a couple of seasons ago (I dont remember the episode)...but it's the one where Carter get's promoted from Capt. to Major. I think it might be 201.
