This episode seemed to go on longer than usual. I too agree that Chris Judges writing is detremental to the show. At first i didnt mind the challenging, given that it was something different and thought provoking, but his latest enstallement was no more than poor storylines coupled with self promotion.

Big T making out with a hot jaffa in front of everyone just seemed weird. Although the look on Daniel and Sams faces were pricless.

Yes, Jolene Blalock was fine in "Judge's Dream" (a.k.a. "Birthright"), but WHO is the actress who played her second-in-command--the woman who died when her symbiot was removed?? unsure.gif She speaks like the ever-adorable Joan Collins (star of one of the best vintage Star Trek episodes and a very funny giant ant sf film). She even looks a bit like the e-a Ms. Collins. What else has she acted in? Too bad she was killed off by Judge. sad.gif

The character of Mala was played by Christine Adams. It's funny because at first I thought she was the same woman that played the female prisoner from 'Forsaken', but apparently she wasn't. It doesn't look like she has been in many other shows/movies, so she probably just looks like someone you recognise. I know what you mean about her looking familiar though. See HERE.

Saw the ep. again today and I must say, my views haven't changed when I first saw it. Utter crap. I wanted to murder that lady who was the little girl's big sister. She was annoying and doesn't deserve the tritonin.

I thought Jolene Blalock looked nasty to me in this ep. She's way to thin to be attractive to me. She needs to go back to "Enterprise" and put on the body suit, it makes her look less thin.

I give it **

I thought that Teal'c had a wife but somewhere under all that Jaffa stuff he really liked the leader of those women Jaffa I think that it was mean for all those men to burn any girls that were born and it was a really great thing for the group of women to do

I thought it was a good episode but some one said that most female Jaffa are killed at one and I said they were thinking of this episode which is not reference to all jaffa.

I don't think there's anything wrong with CJ writing an ep to get Teal'c some more quality time on screen. He is, after all, the character most commonly placed in the peripheral of what's going on....meaning always looking on, not a driving force in the plot.

Although I think Changeling is an excellent episode, I can't say the same about this one. I think there are some stories that just don't hold my interest, and the plight of Jaffa women is one of them. I thought Blalock was fine, as well as the other Jaffa women. Just not interested in their story, that's all.

I think CJ does a great job of writing episodes, and I wish all of the actors would write episodes about their characters.

Overall, I agree with Myth about this episode. It just seemed to me this would have been better as half of an episode. Where Teal'c and Daniel go to this planet, and then the others go somewhere else or something. Basically where there are 2 main plot lines, each somewhat worthy of an ep to itself.

Jack said "penis" ohmy.gif !!! that was so unnecessary and seemed forced by the script. i'm not really one for episodes written by Chris. it's always about Teal'c and the Jaffa thing.

it was kinda interesting at first to see Jaffa women, but i soon got over that. the whole episode was seriously just about him getting to make out with the blonde. it's a pity the second in command died coz i thought she was good. her death wasn't done very well either. i didn't really feel sorry for her or anything coz they didn't even go into her character much, but still tried to make it kinda dramatic. they rushed her whole story about her past.

i actually found it hard to concenrate during the episode and got easily distracted. i don't even know what Teal'c and the leader were fighting about. i didn't even realise they were fighting. one minute they're talking, and the next they're beating each other up. not that it was impressive or even believable.

i liked the whole thing with Sam and her "relationship" with Jack. i'm always in favour of that! and i also liked the bit with Daniel and the girl. that's probably it. there might be a few more bits here and there, but very few.

Those are my favourites as well.
I agree O'Neill saying penis was bogus! The look on Carter's face when the second in command told her about her past with her boyfiend for lack of a better term and her baby daughter was so sad. Did anyone think when Daniel was talking to that young girl his facial expressions reminded them of Jim Carrey? Maybe it was just me... whistling.gif I do admit I found the 'amazon' coversation funny and their debate over what the Jaffa women wanted them for. laugh.gif
That whole thing with Teal'c and Ishtar was boring, although we did get to see Teal'c strut his stuff so I'll give it points for that.

Well i liked it and episodes like this (ie involving jaffa) are normally boring but chris judge does a good job of making it not boring hes a good writer (better then some professional ones they have on the show) The penis thing was fine by me i didnt have a problem with it. It was quite a good episode i thought and i liked it, i just hope that they have CJ write more.
Ps. ones where one of the characters wrote it will obviously star them, itll always be this way.

I though it was good and it shows the progression of Teal'c. I happen to think that this is one of the best Jaffa stories so far.

I think usually when an actor writes a script or creates a story idea, it is usually about what he or she knows. In CJ's place, he knows the Jaffa and their history. That is what he has played for years. So he writes about them.

I have to agree that Birthright is not very good. It's one of the main reasons that season 7 is down on my list of favorite seasons. I have no problem with Jaffa women. I think that was a nice idea, I just didn't care for these Jaffa women, especially the second in command. I also agree that JB looks so much better on Enterprise.

I didn't think this one was quite as well written as "Changeling" which I thought was awesome. Jolene was cool as Queen of the Jaffa, or whatever she was supposed to be. She was one of the only bright spots on the show. Although I did think Daniel's conversation with the young girl was very sweet, just wish they had brought her back for "Sacrifices".

I agree with Wonderland, while I thought this episode was one of the better episodes of the seventh season, it is still weak in comparison to Changling. That was a far superior story. Not that this story wasn't enjoyable. I liked it.

I really did enjoy seeing Jolene Blalock as Ishta. (Off-comment, who thinks up these names ? ) I like the idea of there being female Jaffa. Would have liked to have seen them alittle earlier in Stargate's lore. I don't know why it took seven seasons for a female warrior (excluding gou'alds) appear as a plotline.

But, I thought this was a decent story. I liked how Ishta was more open to accepting help from Teal'c and SG1. At least she seemed more practical and reasonable. And why shouldn't a great looking guy like CJ have a just as great looking gal like Jolene as a potential girlfriend ? They looked nice together.

Shoot, Jolene has just as good biceps as CJ does ! Not as big, but just as defined. I give her trainer credit. She looked great although the costumes did remind me too much of Xena Warrior Princess amazon wardrobes. I suppose there are only so many ways you can outfit a woman warrior.

You know, I do have to say the guys of SG1 do work well with children and adolescents. Daniel did have a sweet chemistry with that girl (forgot her name) didn't he ?

liked this episode. it was different.

Maybe because they are, at heart, children!!!! Or it could be because all three of the guys are dads, they always seem to be soooo sweet with the kids on the show. Daniel's scenes with the baby in "Maternal Instincts" always melt me.
