ooh. i get the first real reply...
was anyone else as dissapointed as i was in this episode. they stole a lot from starwars and the characters did not have good chemistry on screen. there were massive empty voids between line delivery. this episode just wasn't believable. |

thats absurd. the episode was slow and trite. nothing like what the SG1 production team is capable of. episode 7.01 and 7.02 could have been combined into one episode.
also, the episodes were very predictable, you could tell what was going to happen way before it ever did. for instance, i knew that the colonan leader was going to sell out to anubis when anubis didn't leave the planet right away. i was utterly dissapointed. |

i for one liked it. besides the first couple awkward moments of getting daniel back, i thought everybody interacted really well w/ each other. and i thought the star wars thing was kinda funny. but it was nice to see one of our ships kick the gliders' butts. nice twist.
of course it's predictable. we've only had spoilers on the forums for weeks now. |

Well I enjoyed watching Star Wars, I mean Return of the Jedi, I mean Stargate sg-1 season 7 episode 1. Was it me or did they let George Lucas write this one? Come on...a super weapon that is only vulnerable in its exhaust shaft... The depiction of the reactor when the missles hit was right out of return of the jedi for god's sake. That was disappointing. The whole plan seemed more far fetched then anything so far, I don't think I could stretch laffy taffy that far. I can live with the way Daniel was reintroduced, but to be honest I actually liked him as ascended. I really got emotional when he would come back to help his friends in their most desperate time of need. Some of that dialogue was great, I had tears. Episode 2 redeemed itself but I agree some parts were predictable.

Exactly. When they came out of hyperspace, I immediatly thought of Star Wars. Then hitting the shaft with the missles and finally the blowing up of the generator of Anubis' ship. Deja Vu. But I don't let details like that get in the way of my viewing enjoyment. Don't focus on the negatives, people.

thank you! (or should i say thank yu?)
just cause it had its little problems doesn't mean it was bad. i mean, lookit how many times they use wizard of oz references- as they demonstrated beforehand- and nobody gets up in arms for ol' dorothy. |

I've been lurking for a long time, but now I have to speak. Star Wars is really beginning to sneak in to the show, from Annubis/Emperor to the blowing up the second Death Star/Annubis' ship. How much did MGM have to pay Lucas for that footage?

I overlook a lot of stuff actually, but come on the star wars ideas this episode were blatant. I couldn't overlook that if I was blindfolded and shot with a zat gun

Number of Star Wars reminders demonstrated in the episode which caught my immediate attention:
1. The image of the X302 as it flew across the Weapon ship. The tunnel like scene, the minitowers, etc. All of it looked like the scenes from ROTJ(Return of the Jedi). Seems like they could have just made it smooth right? 2. Quick camera view as it passed through ship as they realized the reactor was going critical. Several images looked the same as that of the Death Star as revealed in ROTJ. At first I didn't realize this until I saw #3 below. 3. The reactor? Why did it have to look like that or have that kind of open area which was literally an exact duplicate of the scene from ROTJ? Does the X302 have anything other than missiles? Seems like they'd have run out rather quick if those two had missed. Maybe that's the reason they were scrambling for their life during that time. What did they do to the X302 after Anubis ship left? I didn't see them carrying the ships components like they supposedly did on the way there? Once the Star Wars simularities were past I quickly got over it and didn't think twice that it had happened. Overall it was an interesting episode. I am looking forward to what the X302 is capable of as soon as it developes better weapons systems. MYOB' |

I thought the Star Wars references were great. Not only because they were funny: "Yeah, thought we were going with Red Leader on the is one?", but becuase they were obviously in homage, otherwise Jack never would have said "Red Leader." Although I do agree that the reactor shot was a bit much, but at least they didn't have to fly into the ship and do a spin around the core itself.
Also, another Star Wars reference was the the target on Anubis' ship was the vent for the cooling system just like the target on the Death Star was the reavtor vent. (At least it wasn't in a trench on the surface!! At any rate, I loved the show, SW refences and all. While somewhat predictable, still a good episode in my book. Especially the VERY tongue in cheek remark about Teal'c: "He is Jaffa." "No, but he plays one on TV!" I was rolling after that one Also, as a side note, did anyone notice that in the first scene in the SGC, where Jonas goes from the elevator, down the hall into the control room, upstairs into the briefing room and then into Gen. Hammond's office is all taken i one continuous shot? I happened to notice this as I was watching it the first time. I know they do this from time to time, but i thought it was worth mentioning as it goes from one floor, up one small flight of stairs and then up two more flights and then accross the room into Hammnod's office, all with relative stability. There is a bit of shakiness while the camera man is going up the first half of the full set of stairs, but still i thought it was cool. |

Most of you have expressed my disapointments, and what I liked about it so rather than waste my time and repeat what you all said, I will say only 2 things.
Wow, Yu is not on our side after all, or he is to paranoid to be on any side. Amanda Tapping/Samantha Carter's hair cut is so good now, she is f*cking hot! |

Well. . . based on the feedback so far I wouldn't recommend a season eight. When it comes to the point where you are drawing references from other shows and movies, it's time to call it a day and at least take a break. I think it's time for the writers to do so. It was mentioned on "The Lowdown" that the writers had a very hard time in trying settle the whole Daniel returning/Jonas leaving sort of thing so perhaps there wasn't much time in trying develop some areas in a more unqiue way. Nice to see the X-302 in action and good to hear O'Neill wisecracks again.
"But he is a Jaffa." O'Neill: "No. . . . but he plays one on TV." There still plenty of season left so let's take it all in. Before you know it, season 7 will be all done. |

Those eps where a good way to start off the season, Anubis loseing his weapon, dainell comming back.
The sw thing was cool, For those of us who liked sw, it was verry cool. The lowdown show was verry entertaining, Just to see Cristopher not saying "indeed" throughout the show was funny. U think that "no but he plays one on tv" line was in the script or did he add that on camera? All for now! |

full circle (622) and fallen (701) r completely SW-duplicates...
we must have called them episode 7-8... "duplicate wars" they were kinda fun though... but they were illogical. 1) why would baal go back after destroyin anubis' ship. he would have gone for naquadria... or he would have conquer the planet (for more slaves & stuff)... 2) if "yu" 's men can act without his autorisation, they don't see him as a god anymore. so why r they still servin him? 3) DJ remembers everything so quickly that i forgot who he was...
