I think that it could almost definitely survive that fall based on the fact that it wasn't even knocked back by a C4 explosion in its face. It can obviously be unaffected by very heavy impacts. Then again it doesn't make much difference as Anubis appears to have a LOT of them anyway. |

Why didn't Jacob keep the armor since it was obviously designed to be unafected by any form of Goa'uld weaponry? They could use that suit to just walk around everywhere "gatehopping" destroying ALL the goa'uld and all we would need is ONE PERSON TO DO IT ALL!!! Imagine if we got a hold of a few of those suits and sent people in those suits out to other Goa'uld planets all at once from the Earth gate?
Wow, that would make an interesting final-final episode to get rid of all Goa'uld! Maybe just a dream episode?? oh well. The suit blocked the MRI scan, does anyone know if Goa'uld sensors can detect the presense of the Krull soldiers? I wonder if Asgard sensors could see them if the Goa'uld sensors couldn't?? That was just O'Neill's way of saying congrats on her commanding the mission and its success...and of course he had to poke a little fun at her for getting hurt too. |

Does anyone know how long these soldiers are supposed to last?
In the previous ep, the kull warrior just fell down dead, and it seemed to be recently deployed. If this is the case, anubis's army only has a couple of days to wreak havock before they all die. It is possible that they last longer at the planet where they can get medical attention, but how much so? This begs another question, why were they designed so poorly? They don't need to be extrodanarily athletic, they are invincible. If they used regualar host wouldn't that be better? |

A normal host can't be used because the goa'uld probably couldn't control it properly. Since the goa'uld are spawned without genetic memory and are imprinted gy Anubus, they probably wouldn't be able to control the host very effectively. |

...Or, if you're a 'shipper then it's just jack expressing his undying love for Sam... But for what it's worth I agree with mithwriter on this one. Nice to see these kind of touches though. Makes it so much more human. |

Damn, I was hoping that I would be the first american to comment on this ep here but archady beat me to it. Oh well, great ep I dont think it needed to be a two parter though. Ring thingy kicked ass though, and Teal'c is becoming more human

Frank Roman (who played Daniel's captor in this episode) has posted about his experiences filming an episode of Stargate SG-1 in his personal blog. He also includes a few photos.

Finally downloaded the ep. First, I thought it was great. I especially liked the scenes between O'Neil and Burke. I really liked Burke; he reminded me so much of myself. I cracked up at the Bay of Pigs thing, probably the only person who did.
No shippyness in the ep. Saying good luck and be safe is nothing. If that's called shippy, then y'all are getting really, really desperate. O'Neil: Bye Carter, good luck and be safe. Carter: Goodbye sir. Thanks. Shippers: OH MY GOD!! THAT'S PRACTICALLY SEX!!!!! SS were cool. A nice tactical nuke would've ended that party pretty quick but unfortunately they don't grow on trees. three and a half stars |

oooh! ooooh! great idea! lets get anubis so mad at us that we are his next target! we don't even know if a nuke would hurt the kull warriors! it probably wouldn't except at extreamly close range, and it guarantees that our presence is know to all of anubis's ships that are floating arround out there. and i suppose you want to launch it out of the cargo ship? (since it won't get through the "iris") how would you even do that unless we were on the ground, and launching a nuke that close is not a good idea. and if you had this nuke, you think we would have brought it? we thought there were only a handfull, and we wanted to get there quickly, so we probably didn't even have time to install it if it was available. people who think nukes are the solution to everything freak me out. I just downloaded and Oh My God--it was great. It had everything I want in an episode.
1. Daniel -- yes he's in danger, but he doesn't just sit on his hands waiting for someone to save him. 2. Teal'c told a joke! 3. Some nice verbal humor. 4. Great special effects -- the rings with the falling SS 5. Danger -- both the temporary kind with Daniel and Lee and the long term type. That shot of the SS really rocked, and I loved the looks on the team's faces when they saw them! I can hardly wait to see it on television so that I can see all the facial expressions and details. |

I might be 100% wrong, but I thought Daniel went down there to get it for the Tok'ra who have the technology to understand it and (hopefully) create a weapon that undoes its life-giving effects. I assumed that Jacob took it home with him. We sure don't want to send it to the R&D idiots on earth. |

Not that sure about this one for the moment - I'm temporarily going with those who were disappointed in it after expecting a lot. With Daniel in serious trouble and Jack on his way to rescue him, I was expecting...I don't know what. Something more than I got. But then I have the most appalling habit of making snap judgements on first viewing of things and then falling deeply in love with an episode on later showings, so not taking my opinion seriously right now.
I thought RDA looked tired during the little moments with AT. Loved Daniel's almost hysterical reaction to Jack popping up unexpectedly out of the jungle to save his ass in the nick of time. ROTFL! And, despite the couple of attempts to explain it (sorry!) I'm still confused as to what the dialogue at the start of the end moment between Jack and Sam means. It didn't make any sense to me. Ah well....gives me an excuse to look it over several times in order to figure it out. For whoever it was who asked why Burke was mad at Jack - don't think I've seen anyone answer that one so far; apologies if I missed it: Burke was mad because he expected Jack to stand up for him during the inquiry into the shooting. Whether Jack knew what happened or not, Burke thought that as Jack was his friend he should back him up, regardless. Burke believed that it was Jack's lack of support that got him shipped out to the ass-end of the planet and a crappy assignment for years. All in all, probably one that I'll find all kinds of little moments in on a second viewing that I missed completely first time around - some of them pointed out to me here, so thanks! Albion |

A discussion from season two just make me wonder something about this episode. Hathor clearly fit inside a human host even though she was a breeding queen. When Egeria came along, I thought she might have grown from not being in a human for a long time, but now this unnamed queen is also too large for a human host. Do queens outgrow humans? If that's possible, why didn't Hathor outgrow her human host and why was Isis so small when they found her in the jar? Thoughts?

No, this question gets asked a lot actually... Although the Queens are slightly larger than a normal symbiote, the difference isn't that great. If you look closely at Egeria in 'Cure', you can clearly see the symbiote is separate from the big orange/red thing which I presume is some kind of birthing sac. The symbiote is obviously able to grow this somehow and then detach from it when they want to take a host. Maybe Hathor had one under the water in that bathtub. |

Here's my own little review:
The hostage situation was very predictable. Jack comes, Jack saves the day, Daniel gets out alive...big deal. The other part was interesting and it wasn't so predictable. I'm interested to see if the SS are a threat anymore since they have such short life spans. Overall, the episode was good but it was a bit of a let down of a cliffhanger. |

This episode was pretty much okay, but it doesn't rank there among the best, though it could have, had a few things come around a little differently. I got the feeling that when the team sat down to write the two-part Evolution episodes they bit off a bit more than they could chew, and tried to do way too much even for a two-part episode. This could have easily been a three-part series if that were possible.
As some people have pointed out, this episode lacks the kind of suspense that we've come to expect from Stargate episodes, and I wholeheartedly agree. It seems a tad anticlimactic to me to have Col. O'Neill make short work in ten seconds of a group of hardened Central American guerillas. I would have preferred Daniel's rescue to be a bit more complicated than it turned out to be, what with the discovery of the mysterious artifact that the Goa'uld reverse engineered to come up with the sarcophagus technology. It could have made the guerilla leader a foe to be reckoned with, giving Jack a run for his money when it came time to deal with him. Or maybe the artifact could have been resurrecting all of the guerillas that Jack would kill after 5 minutes, so he would then have to find a way to deactivate the device while fending off attacks from undead guerillas... The other half was not much better. Perhaps their escape could have been more messy than it was... In Part I we have Jack asking cynically when did Plan A ever work? Ironically, Plan A worked almost perfectly here in part II! I was hoping there would be more messy complications for Sam's team as they attempted to explore Anubis' citadel on Tartarus and learn his plans... I dunno, maybe we could have had Bra'tac on the ship getting captured, which would force the rest of them to attempt to rescue him from the clutches of Anubis' supersoldiers before Anubis could plant a mind probe in his brain, and forcing them to escape through the Stargate under heavy fire instead of leaving on the scout ship. I would also have not allowed them to kill the Goa'uld scientist in charge of this pet project of Anubis so easily. Unfortunately, making these sorts of changes would have required the entire Evolution episode to be the length of a feature film... That said, I've managed to see all 144 episodes of Stargate SG-1 to date over the past few months, thanks to BitTorrent. Seems nobody has bothered to release this rocking series here in my country, not even on video, so that's the only choice I've got. Anyhow, at least I've got you guys to keep me company while we wait for Season 7 Ep13! This post has been edited by dido: Jan 3rd 2004, 2:20 PM |
