Hey, greetings from a place where season seven hasn't been aired yet!
I have a question, how are the special effects of Season seven so far? I noticed that the quality and effort of the effects peaked at around season four and have went downhill since. Are they better again?

They seem just fine to me.

Did anyone catch how Sam was talking about the movie "Signs" when her, Daniel and Teal'C were in the workout room? She said the same thing that I said when I first saw the movie. smile.gif

Great Episode. Although I really haven't had the complains a lot fo fans have with the earlier episodes, this episode really impressed me. Rya'c showing the courage and wisdom his father has tried to instill on him, Teal'c showing the dilemma of not being a true Jaffa anymore, and O'Neill and Jackson's interaction really made this episode.

Not to nitpick, but how did Jack know that it was gonna be dark in an hour? Solar and Lunar cycles should be a mystery on new planets. Regardless, season seven is looking great, and since from what I read this is Sci-Fi's highest rated show, I'm hoping for season eight.

And excuse me if my post seems a little hard to read, It's late here in Jersey and I've just come from a night of drinking with my friends.

@ StargateSG-1 fan
why do you have problems with kazaa (lite)?
all the episodes are there - even in very good qualities. All you need is a little patience.
Kazaa is my best source for all the eps...

If they had been there any length of time at all (hour or so), they could check how far the sun has moved and estimate how long before before it would reach the horizon. Have you noticed that often the first thing Jack does when reaching a new planet is look up? He is probably checking the sun's position.

here's a question, why is jack shooting the symbiotes? With all this talk of tretonin don't you think that all the jaffa that are killled are used to save the rest, IE, make tretonin? Coulq we use half destroyed ones as long as they were removed quick enough?

i realy liked th episode. but i can't belive how stupide the first plan of teal'c and this other guy was, did the realy think they can go into the camp and noone does even see them. in every other episode the would blow up the damn ship at once. but the writers wanted teal'c captured and realy feeling bad i think so he can regain his strength. And one thing realy botherd me, how did Carter and Daniel get on this Ship?

Well, they didn't have to 'find' the ring transporter - you kind of figure that the Jaffa are getting from the ship to the ground somehow.

However, what struck me was that it should've occured to teal'c and Ragnok that Ray'ac and Bra'tc wouldn't just leave and let things go on as they were.

Funny thing about SG-1, I like all the episodes. Orpheus had a good story line.

Oopses: One usually does not place one's support weapons (mortars, in this case) on the skyline where they might get taken out.

It was good to see the Teal'c added another line to his growing collection. The reference to "Mojo" was almost as funny as first season's "What's an Oprah?"

I liked that room full of candles. How did MS and CJ make it look like the heat didn't bother them?

A candle or an open flame is a pretty important piece of meditation for beginners. You have to visualize a flame in your mind and pour all of your emotions into it.

I know that they found a ring transporter and i know that its logical to asume that ther is one if there is a ship in the sky. My question was, when the Jaffa searched for someone who came with Teal'c the would have a guard around the transporter, and Carter and Daniel where unable to fight against the six Jaffa on the Ship, how did they get on the ship? I think it doesnt make sense that they get up there so fast.

well, i have to say, i didn't think that that episode was WONDERFUL, what ever happened to the days when they were just explorers. i mean, when was the last time they went to a planet without knowing who lived there, what was to be found there etc. everytime they go to a planet it's to rescue someone or ambush someone... what happened to the good old days (oh, no!!! ohmy.gif i sound like my parents sad.gif )

well, someone mentioned ring transporters, well i thought the same when i first saw them just ring aboard the ship... i was like, how did they get there??? wouldn't the rings be somewhere in the camp under gaurd. but one thing is possible, in 'homecoming' the colonines (jonas' people) put a ring platform in storage. this means that they are portable, plus in 'the other guys' earth was studying ring platforms so it is possible that they just brought a platform from another location and then ringed aboard or even brought a cargo ship around to the planet... who knows???

Yeah, I know what you mean about the good ol' days. I was watching some of season one's early episodes yesterday, and I was thinking "Nothing beats these early episodes." I love how the characters are still developing, how they're still very new to this whole Stargate thing. Don't get me wrong, I love the rest of the episodes too.

I've been thinking about something Daniel said regarding his descendsion(spelling) from the others. My mind started rolling when he said "I dont know whether i descended willingly or was forced to". Now we've always presumed until this point that he was FORCED to do so against his will. Perhaps there is a reason he wanted to descend. In that episode where Sam meets a descended version of the ancients, he was given all his knowledge. Compare that to Anubis. I guess where I am going is that could it be that because Anubis(probably) fought back against the others when they made him descend, he turns out to be half/half. Which would lead me to the conclusion that since Daniel is FULLY descended that he might of done it willingly or even requested it. In trade, he gave all his knowledge while ascended up.

Actually i said this a long time ago.

Daniel probably chose to descend cause he couldn't just sit back and wathc his friends getting their asses kicked.

Oma probably had a chat with him

"Choose.....descention by your own free will(cause we know how forced descention works out) or never break the rules again"

I must be kinda alone in my opinion here. Persoanlly, I didn't think that this was the best ep. in season 7. For my part, i liked the Fallen- Homecomming combo better. As far as sci-fi goes, that WAS sci-fi. However, my biggest gripe about this episode was Teal'cs apparent softiness. Now I know, I know. The fact that he doesn't have his symbiote blah blah. No, im talking about his emotions and his facial expressions. He isn't as stoic as he was before. I suppose that you could attribute his softening to his lowered pyhsical state, but I still think that the dynamic they had going with Teal'c was damn good. He was always missing the meaning of ceratin earth phrases. He hardly ever smiled. And damn well never showed that he was sad (except when his son hated him, i think). In this episode he was all depressed. I think they might be cutting back on direction time.
##Oh, off the subject, I'm pretty sure about a Season 8. There is a contest underway at SciFi.com for a walk-on role in a SG1 episode. That means that it will either be aired during season 7 or season 8. Knowing how much time it takes to make one of these episodes, I'm pretty sure that the contest winner will appear in season 8.

ok, was able to d/l and watch today...

re Daniel's descension:
I'm guessing it was voluntary as well. At the end of Meridian he told Jack he believed he could "do more this way". Unfortunately he had no way of realising how many rules and restrictions he would have to abide by in his ascended form, which Oma apparently thought to leave out during her Ascension Sales Pitch . blink.gif

What she said was "with great power comes great responsiblity". I for one don't recall her saying "with great power comes more restrictions than you would ever want to have in this lifetime or the next." Even Daniel didn't seem happy that he couldn't help Jack more in "Abyss" or "Full Circle". Anubis's threat to destroy Abydos was simply the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.

re Daniel and Teal'c:
It's great to see them together in scenes, but what did Daniel mean when he said he finally felt like he belonged to something important? Excuse me? Exactly what were those first five years about then? blink.gif

re Teal'c:
Hey, he had a right to be depressed. I would be too if I thought I was no longer capable of the strength/endurance that I was accustomed to my whole life. I mean let's face it, the ol pride is going to take a few blows in this situation whether he would ever admit to it or not. I'm just glad he realised that he still "had it" cool.gif

QUOTE (sunspark @ Jun 28 2003, 02:30 AM)
If you recall they were saying that this drug woud release the dependancy in goa'uld's in changling (season6) so thats why, personally i see 1 major flaw in that reasoning, that one being they have to mash a goa'uld ever few weeks to make some more tritonan (seen as it is ground goa'uld)

I'd have to watch Changling again to be sure but I seem to recall Jacob explaining that the Tokra had made a synthetic version of tretonin, ie they aren't using ground goa'uld.

I liked that Teal'c got to be more "human" in this episode and not the silent, stoic, ultimate warrior. He got his mojo back at the end but hopefully he'll remain less silent now.

There was also good team interaction all around. I liked the look Sam gave Daniel when he was talking about being ascended vs being descended. It said more about her opinion on the topic than words could have.

Occasionally actors are reused in different roles but I laughed to see a prop reused. Bra'tac was shown using the same shovel that Teal'c used in Beneath the Surface. laugh.gif I guess all the budget was spent on the cool liberation scene.

So far this season I like this episode the best.
