I must admit that when Pete"took a hit" I thought it was gonna be all over for Sam in the Bedroom Dept. though I did think that possably Daddy was going to turn up and save the day. After all a Sam/Tok-ra thing is'nt without some precedent.
Still, for all those Cynics out there, He's still got to "make it through" His next episode now has'nt He.
Picture the scene: "So Sam this is what annother planet looks like" [SIZE=14][COLOR=blue]WHOOOSH[COLOR=red]BOOM[SIZE=1]"Oh S*** there goes annother one, Quick Daniel Dial Us out" whistling.gif

My opinion:

Storylines

Sam and Pete/Daniel and Osiris- It was mentioned in a post earlier how unrealistic and hypocritical it was that sam divulged the Stargate info. I highly agree with this and that left a slightly bitter taste in the mouth. This episode, to me, seemed simply to be a awagon to break carters luck with men and get Daniel a women back in his life alive as well. In doing do i think the writers did a poor storyline. I am a shipper at times but this was even worse than 'Grace'- there wasn't enough va voom in the show. I like a bit of emotional stuff, like the best of us, but i also enjoy a bit of action- and this was very dissapointing.

I was dissapointed, not just with ow it ended with Sam and Pete but, with the Osiris/ Sarh/ Daniel ending. It was way to short and unexplained. What happened to the Goa'uld, where did the ship she was in go, why did she seem to be to o.k with waking up back at the Sgc? I think, it would have been better, with a little bit more time.

and one last question............Who and where did sam get that pic of them from? I thought she didn't know the anniversary couple- but that's t.v for you......it's like when the characters of Beverley Hills 90210 used to wake up with perfect hair and make up - just accept and move on wink.gif

5/10...I am more hopeful at next weeks episode.

ROTFL! This didn't even occur to me. Yeah, it's kind of adding insult to injury, isn't it? Gatecrash your party and then come back later with "Um...remember me? Don't suppose one of your guests happened to take a picture of me with my boyfriend and could do me a copy....?" LOL!

No idea whether they'll go with Peter guesting in other episodes until the relationshp ends (no, there is no other outcome) or whether it will just be a case of dropping his name into dialogue every now and then so we know he's still around.

The elevator scene is only half priceless for the dialogue, you really have to see it. Their expressions and body language are hilarious. Particularly Jack's. But if no one else comes up with it I'll see if I have time to run the tape and jot down the dialogue later for you.

Forgot to mention earlier - think it was in this thread someone said Sam's neighbours would be up in arms again? The battle with Osiris was at Daniel's home, not Sam's. There goes another neighbourhood!

EDIT: Okay I was having a late lunch, so transcribed the scene while I was doing so. Meant I had to watch it all again - oh, the horror. I'm going to email it to you though, not sure if putting it here in the thread would be considered a spoiler, even though the episode has aired already, and I haven't the first clue how to do that whiteout thingy.

FURTHER EDIT: Okay, the email bounced. Apparently you have too many messages on your server. So, you want it, get emptying that mailbox. <g> I'll try sending it again later.

Is it me or did it seem like Osiris gained a bit of Asgard transport technology from the mind probe conducted on Thor in the season five finale? It had the sound and look of an Asgard transport.

I wonder what becomes of her ship orbiting the planet. Again she must of used Thor's knowledge of cloaking technology to mask her ship from Earth's sensors. Does the Air Force call it their own and slap a big huge USAF sticker on it? jester.gif

Trying to answer some of Aesirs questions

QUOTE
Firstly, there is the Daniel centred plotline where we learn that Osiris has accessed the memories of her host and discovered that Daniel once saw a tablet that revealed how to find the Lost City. At the time, he probably didn't have a clue what it was.

Daniel never saw that tablet in reality. As it is explained, Osiris planted that image into his dream because she hoped it would help him to access his subconsciance and remember the gate address he possibly knew when he was ascended.

QUOTE
Did Daniel discover the gate address to the Lost City? The ending made it seem like he didn't find it out, but he could have just been concealing it from Osiris.

I think it?s not surprising that he couldn?t remember since he clearly didn?t know the location of the lost city in Full Circle, and shortly after that he was banished. He promised SG-1 to assist them in finding the lost city (so he didn?t know it yet), but it never came to that.

QUOTE
What I found odd is that they talk about there being a gate address on the tablet... surely it would be written as the normal symbols and both Daniel and Osiris would instantly be able to know where the Lost City is?

Both Daniel and Osiris knew what they were looking for: a stargate address. So probably Osiris created the image of a tablet containing an unspecified address guiding Daniel in the right direction to remember the address. Daniel either realized what the Osiris tablet was talking about, or he just concentrated on remembering the address (because he also was looking for it) and by trying to access his subconsciance he changed the tablet and created the symbols himself, because the tablet just represents the memories he tried to access. But he couldn?t, the mask remained empty, wishful thinking on both sides (Osiris/Daniel).

Comment (ON PETE)

The story is not well told, they could have done it better, but I disagree that more (senseless) action would have worked very well! There was hardly enough time to focus on Sam?s new relation. It all went pretty fast, and I don?t understand why she?s so attracted to him, only because they had a spicy dialogue during breakfast!? I think the writers tried to explain the bond between them, by pointing out that they knew each other before.
In fact, I liked Grace! They took their time to tell the story.
For those who expect more action, I think that?s what Death Knell, Heroes and The Lost City are for.

One more thing: Pete must die! But I fear he won?t, because he solves the black widow Carter problem. However, a little pressure from the fans... it worked for Daniel?s exile tongue.gif

well, my reasoning for the lack of symbols on the tablet is a follows.

We have seen the ancients language many times, just as we have seen are own, and just like are own language we have words and numbers, etc....

i.e 1 and one

you understand what i mean? Osiris, from what i saw, doesn't know the Ancient language (so does that mean that Anubis doesn't too?) so she wouldn't be able to find out the address. Most languages using a latin based form use the 1 when writing down the amount of one as in a number. but when actually writing it down as a word they put.....well there languages version tongue.gif So it could be just as simple as that. There are different ways, perhaps, of writing the gate addresses?

What makes you think Osiris really has found an address and just needs Daniel for the translation job? I think they say in the episode that Osiris is trying to get the information about the location from Daniel?s mind, because he possibly knew it when he was ascended.
If it just was about the translation, both Daniel and Anubis won?t have any problems, as we?ve seen before (in Fallen, Daniel deciphered Anubis? encryption code written in Ancient, so both speak the language).

You could be right and there is some sort of written text on the tablet instead of symbols... however, perhaps we don?t have to take it literally, it?s a dream after all, and perhaps there are symbols on the tablet, but they are unsharp and Daniel can?t focus on them... think of your own dreams, sometimes things are just unclear and you can?t see them exactly.

QUOTE (Raz @ Jan 20 2004, 04:49 PM)
Right first of all it gets a 6/10 for me. Not enough action as we are used to seeing on Stargate. I did not like the fact Osiris had Asgard transporter technology although we knew how she got it I think its not fair that they use it as those Asgard probably studied years for that tech and Osiris/Anubus took it from Thor in a matter if hours.

Umm, Raz, ever heard of a thing called the nuclear bomb?

Anyways, i liked this ep, i liked most eps this season infact, isupose it's cos i dont look for everything i like in one ep, i like varity, like jack ended up liking oatmeal more than fruit loops...

ANYWHO, i give it 8/10, partly cos, i mean how many DeLuise's can you put in a show!

sorry don't need the starate in every ep

True, but this season the writers seem to have shyed away from the very format that has contributed to the success of the show, namely the team going through the stargate etc etc. I'm all for Earth or off-world based stories with little "obvious" action, but this season will not stick in my mind as being a stand-out season (unless we get a bit more action in the latter half of the series.)

Anyhoo, back to topic. The episode was ok. It was nice to see Sam reasonably happy with Pete, though you get the feeling that she's still holding back waiting for Jack. I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who enjoyed Sam humming the Stargate theme tune in the lift with Jack whistling.gif . Still, she scrubs up pretty well.
I did like the Daniel~ Sarah/Osiris storyline. Does this mean that Sarah will now become a recurring character seeing as she must have memories of Osiris/Anubis/Goa'uld technology? and she has the obvious history with Daniel. It would be nice to see her more often though I would hate to have her character "diluted" by the loss of the symbiote.

This was another great episode which continues the revival of Season 7.biggrin.gif

Good Points:
+ Sam huming The Stargate theme wile in the elevator with Jack
+ The bit with the donuts. More classic Teal'c and Jack humour.!
+ Sam finally getting a boyfriend who doesn't die.
+ Osiris getting caught. I HATE that b#*ch!!
and finally.......+ The Sam and Pete gag at the table in the cafe at the start!!

sad.gif Bad Points: There weren't really any serios problems with the episode. It was more like loose ends in the plot.
- What will happen to Pete(assuming he is doesn't die) now that
he knows about the SGC. Osiris, and all of the people that
couldn't possibly have missed the big firefight?
- Did Sam have authorization to tell Pete about the SGC? If she
didn't then what will happen to her?
- For Osiris to have been using the Asgard beaming technology
she must have been fairly close to the Earth. Most probably in a
cloaked Hatak or Cargo Ship. If she had been on a Hatak then it
is unlikely that she would have been abandoned like we see.
This suggests that she came alone in a Cargo Ship and that
would mean that there is a argo Ship floating around up in
orbit, perhaps with Goa'uld-Asgard hybrid technology.
Something which could be explored in other episodes perhaps.
- Did Daniel remember the symbols to the Lost City in his dream
and just hide it from Osiris or does he just not know. It is most
likely in my opinion that he doesn't because, oh what......., 5
minutes before he Descended he said that he didn't.
These points did not stop this from being a very good episode, the best of the series in fact, and that is why it is getting 9/10 from me. Very good and lets hope it keeps on going. Bring on 716! biggrin.gif

i think this is a kinda average episode
the bit i loved was the lift seen i thought it was v funny.

they cut the end of the osiris story a bit short coz one minute they caught her an the next her symbiote woz removed, but is it me or did i see some evil in sarahs eyes at the end?

i dont think they can carry on the sam/pete thing coz it has to be sam.jack in the end lol.

Well,
i though that the lost city would be on a planet dialed with 9 chevron!!!
yes
as we can see, the gate is composed of 9 chevrons,
only 7 requiered for calling regular planets,
in season 2 ( fith race ), RDA composed the azgard planet (OTALA => 8 chevrons)

the 8th chevron alows people to change zone(galaxy)
maybe the 9th alows to change plan of existance, or change the dimention.

so i imagined that the lost city would have been 9, ( very secrete place ...etc etc..)
=> obviously not smile.gif)

we will see that soon wink.gif

QUOTE
I found that a little convenient and somewhat strange. I was confused as to why Daniel was so fixated on the fact that the details of the real life incidents were different in his dreams. Hey, it's a dream! That's what dreams do.

Hmm...In defense of this: Sometimes I'll have a dream that seems just a little too "real", just a little too on the mark. These type of dreams usually mean something very deep, but I have to study them.
Perhaps Daniel is the same way? or perhaps Daniel doesn't dream like this at all?

QUOTE
Oh and please note. Jack - ever the 'dumb' one - immediately cuts to the heart of the matter and points out the flaw in the plan that geniuses Carter and Daniel have failed to spot. WTG, Jack. <G>

Yeah, I loved that biggrin.gif

QUOTE
The whole bit about pete

Yeah, Pete struck me as someone to try to get in the way of Sam and Jack. I thought he was going to die too, but...sigh...

QUOTE
I half-expected her eyes to glow. Kind of disappointed they didn't really. That would have been more fun.

Well, we don't know that they won't yet. Remember "The Enemy Within"?

QUOTE
They had a great opportunity in this episode for some good action scenes with osiris, but they wasted it.

I thought this had a perfect oppritunity for Daniel-Osirisarah interaction. Some nice, hurt-comfort angsty interaction on a different world with him possibly being forced to kill her.
But...Sigh....Instead they tranqualize her on EARTH.

QUOTE
I certainly hope the next few eps are gonna go back to the old school style eps.

Yeah...I want more Stargate! I want more going through the stargate to some unknown planet, not some "Let's go through the Stargate to....Planetwevealreadyvisited!" or "Let's just not even show the Stargate!". Some action would be nice, but let's not turn it into an action series....

Also...I hated how Osiris got caught. I mean, Osiris is one of Anubis' operatives, he wouldn't just let her get caught like this! Plus, I like her....

(Quotes from Summit-Last Stand)

"I hope I'm not missing all the fun!"
"I think you'll find I have much to offer...."
"Hmm...Insolence. Tell me what subversions you are a part of or I will bleed you dry..."

"What do you offer as support for your claim as position as System Lord?"
"Nothing."

"He has sent me to ask that you accept him back.....or.....Place yourselves at his mercy"

Isn't that great stuff?

Coming back with a couple of additions. Watched the episode again this afternoon and spotted a couple of things I'd missed earlier.

To the poster who mentioned Daniel's hair not being 'floppy' as it should have been for the timeframe in the dream. Hey, look what I found! It was covered in the scene right at the start where Daniel mentioned he'd had a weird dream:

Sam: How is that weird?
Daniel: Oh, things were all mixed up, my hair was different, you know...

They know us so well. <g> I missed this entirely first time around because I misheard what he said and thought it was 'her hair'. Then spent the entire episode wondering what the heck he was talking about because Sarah's hair looked just the same as it always had to me! Eeesh.

Secondly, for the poster who asked if it was just them or did Osiris pick Thor's brains and get Asgard technology - not just you, this was covered in the episode also. In the briefing on the plan:

Teal'c: Anubis once probed Thor's mind and in doing so they would have gained access to Asgard beaming technology.
Daniel: That would allow her to come and go undetected.

QUOTE
Hmm...In defense of this: Sometimes I'll have a dream that seems just a little too "real", just a little too on the mark. These type of dreams usually mean something very deep, but I have to study them.

Well, I was thinking about this and it strikes me that perhaps what clued him in was the logical progression of the dream over a period of nights. I mean how often do you dream a history of past events over a span of nights that follows on logically and in sequence, one after the other? But if so he should have said so, darn it! <g> But that makes sense to me. That would be kind of weird and worth noting.

Also...I'm beginning to change my mind about the telling Pete thing and might have to revise my opinion there. Daniel's colleague in The Cure got knocked unconscious and would have been a bit woozy when he came to, plus he didn't see THAT much. So I figure they could have snowed him with some cock and bull story fairly easily. Pete was much more alert at the time and saw far more that really couldn't be explained. I still don't think it was very real, which is a disappointment, but beginning to wonder what else they could have done with him.

Before u all doom me...this is all IMO

To be honest, I think this episode rocked considering 2 crappy episodes back to back (atleast for me)

And I think they took the Carter being seduced part a little too far. I'm not gay or anything but I always loved Stargate for being able to integrate affection without showing it outright and in this episode they just went all out and nearly made it a porno scene.

As for the Daniel/Sarah/Osiris bit, I must admit that it kinda ended abruptly. If the tranquiliser worked so quickly this time, she could have been stopped in Curse itself. I was half expecting her to hit the hand device and woosh away. And I didn't like the way she looked in the end. Even Jack and Sam hugged like hell in 301 and they are in the military. Sarah was like "damn, now i am with this guy again" tongue.gif

If we dont see that much of Rick in the future in an episode, its gonna be dryyy.

For Teal'c, I had to feel sad for him when no one takes his donuts and his smily face goes frowny smile.gif
