Well I just saw the first two episodes of Atlantis and I am a bit dissapointed. Sure the effects where ok but stoty was crap. I mean how is it possible that a sidewinder or even a para is capable of taking out one of those ships? I mean the wrath (or how you spell it) or miljons of years ahead in evolution and they still can not handle a simple rocket or a few bullets? Where are the energy shields surrounding the ships? I mean come on the ancients would kick there asses easily if they do not have shield (like that one ship that took out 5 of those fighters and it had a noobies pilot behind the stick). It doesn't make sense.

So from a story point it is total crap smile.gif. Special effect where ok but not that great. The worm hopper looks cheap those wrath things looked much better (but again where are the shields).

i don't think a bow and arrow would work to well against a tank...that may be a better comparison

Ok that is just a stupid comment. There is a big diffrense between a few hundred years and a few miljon years. And then the ancients where not defeated by some simple weaponry so I say again how can a wrath ship be destroyed that easily. Come to think of if the ancients know that the Atlantis shield where strong enough to resit any wraith attack then why not equipe your spaceships with them? Or other colenies? I mean that would solve the problem wouldn't it? The writers didn't realy think that part of the story through hI think which is a bit of a shame.

I loved the part at the SGC. I loved Jack being in charge. He did a good job. He acted a little like Hammon.d But he did great as a general.

Don't you pay attention? It was said that the Ancients were wiped out because of a disease... They weren't wiped out because of the Wraiths weapons or because they didn't have shields on their ships... BUT BECAUSE OF A DISEASE!!! Pay more attention in the future...

well, that answers my question...but sometimes a larger army can be seen as a disease, example...i could say 'they spread across the land like rabied dogs, a disease, plague, evil moving faster and faster' im talkin bout an army, but i can put it in the context of a disease.....which ep does it actually say it was a disease btw? whistling.gif

I don't remember exactly but Daniel finds a tablet or something that talks of a disease that wipes out the anicients... I think that it was "Window of Opportunity"...

Yes, the Ancient female in the very opening sequence of Part One WAS the same one found buried in the ice by the SGCers working down there in Antarctica after the Solitudes episode, when Jack and Sam were thrown thru the second stargate.

The Ancient male was angry when he left her. Was it because she was infected with the plague? Was it because she wanted to -- or had to -- stay on Earth while Atlantis migrated to the Pegasus Galaxy? Interesting to think about, but it was indeed the same girl.

sad.gif

Yes, I had the same thoughts when she turned her head...it did indeed look as if it was her afterall...I'm pretty sure, though I won't make it a fact unless I see some guest star lists that list the actress as the same. But nevertheless, the opening sequence was neat.

Wonderfull premere... smile.gif The graphic affects were spectacular.

Loved the premiere.
Definitely a good idea to have RDA and Shanks in it.

Have racial issues.
1) Ayianna (the "Frozen" gal) was white in the "Frozen" episode. But somehow -- she was black in the sequence for "Atlantis"!? Wtf?
2) Ford -- watched from the middle, and then the beginning again -- had no idea he was black, until I saw his black grandparents see him off. How could I not notice that???
Did anyone else have similar hallucinations?

Aside from that, disagree that the Wraiths have less OOMPH and show-offness than the Goa'ulds AT ALL!!! They were all, "Uh, you're not good enough for me to speak to," (with the exception of Sumner) and "Uh, you are food."

Question: Why didn't Earth give Atlantis a power source sufficient for them to get back, at departure?

Simple... They didn't have one... They had only one ZPH (that right?)

1) Who the hell said that was the same woman? I never saw anything that said they were.
2) Haven't you heard of a couples, who aren't the same race, having a child? He's probably mixed. Think, before you look stupid.

In all, who gives a s*** about the race of a character?

I dont think Ayianna "the ancient from Frozen" looked black she prob seemed darker from the lighting. Also to answer your question the reason earth didnt give up another ZPM "Zero Point Module" was cuz they only had 1 from SG-1 season 7 ep 22. The one already in the outpost on earth was depleted.

only_1_mac
no shes the same chic, i think she got left behind cuz she had the plague but the guy didnt "that would be why every1 got sick when she was defrosted". Only ancients free of the plague left i think.

The Ancients were not killed off by the Wraith. They were infected with a disease long before they ran into the them. They left there sick behind and left to start over in another galaxy free of the plague that was killing them. Then they ran into the Wraith who put up a fight they werent prepared for so they sank Atlantis and fled through the gate back to Earth. But what i dont get is why they wouldnt just take Alantis to a new glaxy and try to start over again.

Muskusrat
I dont think the Ancients are natural fighters like we are "maybe they were at some point". They are so advanced that they prob never needed to have tactical advantage. Myabe the Wraith are just more evolved but dumb "you know the saying you dont use it you lose it". Ok my point may not have some across like i wanted but what i basically mean is the Ancients are natural adventurers and the Wraith are natural warriors who do you think would win.

I recorded the episode and about 15 minutes or more were not recorded. It stopped shortly after Teyla was abducted and Dr. McKay was warning that they should leave because of the power drain. They were still underwater at the time. It picked up with Dr. Weir and Major Shepard talking outside and Atlantis was above water and there appeared to be no problems with power. What happened between these two events? Help!

Not much all that pretty much happened was that sheppard walked up to a crashed Wraith fighter and shot at a moving Wraith arm. Ford memorized zome of the signs on the DHD from when the Wraith were leaving through the gate. Sheppard brought back all/most of the surviving people of Teylas world. The doctor guy was telling Weir about the Wraith from what he got by studying one of their arms. Then Dr. Weir asked Major Sheppard to step outside to talk about the rescue mission.

If i remembered correctly thats pretty much all that happened.

However, i'm getting a bit confused on where the ancients originated from, and which galaxy the wraith were from (probably the original ancients galaxy)

The ancients originated on Earth. The Wraith were probably from the Pegasus galaxy.

---Ok, this right here is exactly why I got confused. Up til this point I had it mostly together, including this bit. However, if they were trapped under the ocean in the Pegasus galaxy, the shields held off the Wraith, and eventually they couldn't get anywhere in the Pegasus galaxy and so left for Earth again (hoping the plague was over, etc.), then how did they build other stargates in the Pegasus galaxy? blink.gif blink.gif I don't get it whistling.gif

They built the gates before they ran into the Wraith.

but how did they go from being underwater with almost no power to above water with more than enough power. Did they find another one of those ZPM's or use a generator or something?

I've been asking myself where the strength of the Wraith lies.

Maybe there should be a poll if anyone can think of some explanations?

Their abilities seem to be comparable to the Goa'uld or even Asgard (Transporters), but not all powerful, and I find this interesting because it makes me wonder how they defeated the Ancients? Looking forward to the upcoming episodes with that thought in mind...
