Have you notice that the briefing/conference room table changed again? And why is the stargate lit up like that, one moment when idle, it's lit up, next time it's not lit up, what's up with that?!

And Carter's hair looks great as usual. And I think Weir should have gated and dump that Doctor-whiner somewhere. He so deserves it.

I thought this was a good episode. Perhaps its just me, but did anyone else notice how the directing and "style" for this episode seemed to be kind of reminiscent of, say, SG1 "Heroes"?

Yeah, it reminded me of Heroes as well, although Heroes was better. The way that comedy turned into a complete tragedy (at least for those watchers who liked Dr. Fraiser) was done very well.
*sigh* yeah, It would've been great if this had been a 2-parter.

They would have no chance with or without the generators, to effectively defend themselves they need a ZPM either way. That was their thinking.

At least the entire episode wasn't based in the puddle jumper as was speculated in the spoilers thread tongue.gif

The briefing table is also the same one as used in a sg-1 episode. I think it was one of the Prometheus ones, possibly the one where they become stranded in space after the buffer for the generators fries or something.

Also...what was the big beam that the wraith hive ship shot down at the planet?
*

The beam actually shot up from the centre of the village up towards the atmosphere.
QUOTE(Drizzt's Syn @ Jan 12th 2005, 1:33 AM)
Perhaps that big beam was some sort of collector, after the victims are caught the "big" beam "collects" them and transports them up to the hive ship to save time and trouble of getting them off each individual fighter ship.

Ok I think it was a great episode, BUT they way they got the stargate up and running with those naquada generators is just strange. I mean they are empty now right? What do they use for power now? Especially if you know there is an armada of enemy ships comming. O well the writers didn't realy think of that one I think (or I didn't pay attansion).

Ok last tiny thing, if they can get a gate from atlantis with those naquada generators then why can't the SGC on earth. I mean they got TONS of naquada generators. Hell they make them. So very strange that they can't get a gate open to Atlantis unless offcourse they never though of the idea.
*

Here's an idea, once the energy in a generator has been consumed perhaps the generator can be reused? Have a look at the picture attached and you may see why they will still have working generators after this event. I mean what do you do when your camera's batteries run out? You bring out the spares right?

Anyways I thought this was a great episode and I thought that they'd never have the time to send the message with only litterally minutes left on the show. I can't believe that we're going to have to wait until The Siege Pt 1 for the resolution of this episode! I was hanging off the edge of my seat waiting for a full scene when the transmission occurs of what the actual setup looked like in the gateroom. Oh well, time wasted watching Rodney blab on....but it was funny.

Kavanagh, he should've been fed to the Wraith! There's this dude at my uni who looks like him and he's had this like broken arm for I don't know, since I've been at uni more than 4 years and it's always in a sling. It's all shrivelled up and he's a really skinny guy... I get freaked out everytime I see him.

I couldn't help but think of Elizabeth's message to Simon being her subtle way of telling him that it's best if he moved on and find another woman. Being in her situation she knows that it wouldn't be fair on him if she kept him waiting and never returned. Plus, I supposed that telling him that would have also been her official breakup leaving her free to begin active flirting in Atlantis! Hehehe. That's how creative the writers are at writing people out of a show, for Samantha they just kill the guy, for Elizabeth they get her to dump the guy! That's kinda funny actually, because if you compare it to our current technological lifestyle it would be the equivalent of being dumped via intergalactic text message!

Back to Atlantis, since there's only The Gift and the 2 part season final? to go, I assume that there's going to be a lot of things happening behind the scenes off camera in terms of detailed development on both Atlantis and back at Earth. I say this because The Gift deals with Teyla and the Wraith. There is simply not enough time in the Atlantis series to come up with a solution, which means that the SG-1 series will be chipping away at a solution in parallel. That kinda sucks in Australia where Atlantis is yet to air. But like others I've found other means to keep up to date. I can't wait for the last 3 episodes!!

In seeing this episode, I don't understand really why MGM would allow Atlantis to be aired not simulataneously with Stargate SG-1. Clearly some cross-overs are starting to happen.

Never the less, I watched the episode. I agree that it was pretty cheesy. We learned the Wraith were coming in the previous episode. I hope that one thing this does is effect the Stargate SGC crew in a better episode.

But you gotta agree with this, the Japanese scientist was hilarious -- she thought McKay was brave? That she was willing to serve at his pleasure? laugh.gif

Ok my theory on this is that the naquadah generator works the same way as a camera flash - it has a buffer of energy and that gets used up then it needs to generate more.
normal use is fine as the buffer never gets depleted but
the gate needs a large ammount of energy in a burst to establish the wormhole

once that initial burst is used up the reactors buffer will be depleted and will need to recharge ittself

its just not possible to create that much energy instantaneously with fissile material - there would be too much heat generated from the reactor.

Also, did you guys notice how the Wraith ships exited hyperspace and how similar it looked to how ships in Startrek entered and exited warp? The ships were elongated as they came out. Usually they don't do that with the ships in SG-1. They just normally drop out of hyperspace with that flash.

Im generally not impressed with clip shows (it def was one), having said that this ep made me laugh a bit. There was a bit of new footage too.

Look forward to seeing earth's response. I guess they are building towards a big season finale, but this did seem to be bit of a waste of an episode.

Mckay was funny as always.

Weir is really annoys me.. enjoyed the part where Karangh complained.

Probably a very minor point but i didnt think sheppard should have left the ship given that he was the only one who could fly home.. if he wanted a closer look y didnt he just fly there?

I dont think atlantis compares to the early episodes of sg1, but i am definately addicted.

Im in aust too, have no prob getting eps but always seem to hav them much later than the rest of u.

Zelenka: ?At the bottom of the sea; we have got a (failsafe)? mechanism. It pulled out an anchor of the city from the bottom of the sea by a huge force. We were terrified? we were terrified by that. Unbelievable! What is happening? And what a hubbub! Whole city was fluttering like during an earthquake. It was something unbelievable. And suddenly?eh?we were moving! Whole city was rising up and up to the surface of a sea. It was something unbelievable! The towers broke through the surface of the sea and we were rising up and up. Such an amount of water! The waves! Waterfalls! All flowing down from such an altitude. We shoot up, up to the sky? and suddenly? sun? simply the beautiful sun. It was shining through all windows? I will remember that? I will remember that my whole life??

I just realised that I answered my own question when the gate opened in the SGC, all the chevrons now light up, as to solve the incoming wormhole problem. Therefore, all 9 chevrons would have lit up, therefore wouldn't have been able to tell that it was from another galaxy.

Well it depends how you see it.

SGA All the Chevrons light up
SG-1 Only 7 (or 8) Chevrons light up.

There was some other thread about this, (nitpicking) with photos to show. So, whatever takes your fancy:P

The naquada generators have a maximum energy output before going critical. Apparently 5 generators channeling their energy to the stargate can open a wormhole for a little more than a second. The generators wouldn't be "used up" in the process. If anything is used up at all, it would be the naquada fuel. If they brought 6 original generators with them, then surely they brought more naquada incase they needed to refuel them. Infact, the component Sheppard removed from the generator in The Eye probably contained the naquada fuel.
