Ok, so i guess everyone's now happy that they had Loki. And that he was indeed mischevious. I was, at least, and i know there were whole topics revolving around him, so what do you guys think? alien.gif

The more you watch SG-1, the more you appreciate the chemistry and sutile humor among the cast. You see a little crack to the wormhole extreme episode, the humor that only true SG-1 fans and followers could understand and appreciate. Good stuff. cool.gif

I just watched it a second time this morning on my vcr and enjoyed it even more than the first time. They took advantage of the "youth" issue and explored several different angles with it, which were all interesting and lighthearted at the same time.

1. When clone O'Neill is "denied" beer on the base, one of the first things he does upon escaping is visit a liquor store and has to try to get someone else to buy it for him.

2. Got to spend some quality time on a Playstation console.

3. I liked the pilot briefing as an example of gained knowledge over the appearance of youth, but now I'm wondering what the hell the clone is going to do in High School. I mean, this kid has all the knowledge of a 50 year old adult Air Force Colonel. He's going to be bored out of his mind, isn't he? I did think the little send-off O'Neill gave his clone was well done. "Yes, go forth young man..."

4. The fact that the younger clone was facing the possibility of dying sooner than the older original was a nice little story hook.

Some other notes...

Chris Judge's facial expressions in reaction to some of the clone's antics were absolutely priceless, especially when he first meets the clone, and later in the commissary.

I thought the actor who played cloned Jack did a good job. It's one thing to do the line readings accurately, it's another to get physical mannerisms down, and it was obvious this kid did his homework....and he was sooooo cute too! laugh.gif

I thought that kid did a really good job of acting like Oneill, I was laughin it up when they got em together finally. He got all the quirks down pat I was impressed. Anyone else see that? I missed half the ep because I had to work but I liked this one better than the starwars ones... biggrin.gif

aah I should read the other posts before I write these things, Mithwriter obviously agrees... anyone else?

I really appreciated this episode. Loki exemplified what I thought the Asgards were in the first place. Up to this point I really found a conflicting characteristic with the Asgard. They were a race advanced enough to be arrogant about their abilities, yet when it comes down to war, or major conflict, they really are reserved sometimes.

I really enjoyed this episode, the kid acted [I]so much like o'neill it was almost creepy, and o'neill's reaction to the whole team being in his bedroom was priceless, but i found one flaw.........did anyone notice that daniel had almost [I]all his memory back? huh.gif i thought that was ever-so-slightly odd.

Yea I think the whole memory thing was just a quick way to get Daniel back in and make it semi-believable. If you watch the second episode it seems as if he has all of it back already, that fast. They got Daniel back into the fold and I don't think they will go back to the memory thing unless they are hurting for plot ideas. Kind of cheap but ah well. I nitpick but somethings you gotta let slide eh Rebel? wink.gif

I smell a spin-off! w00t.gif

"New Jack has to show the local bully the meaning of Christmas, but then it turns out that he's a Goa'uld that the System Lords have planted to steal Jack's new girlfriend and therefore must die a stabbity, stabbity death. Hilarity ensues."

whistling.gif

...

Anyway, I kinda liked the episode. The kid was alright, I may have been a little disappointed in the performance if it was a major motion picture or something though. It was generally good times. This was the first season 7 episode I've seen, I like having Daniel back.

I dunno, if his brain's actually young (like his body isn't just young-looking or something) it'll readily accept new information like any other kid's. I think he said he didn't really pay attention in high school the first time around or something like that. Maybe that'll play into the "advanced" thing or something? Jack, but as smart as Sam or whoever? I dunno, regardless, I think the kid should show up later somewhere and out-smart Real Jack or something. It'd be good times.

I'm a bit more disturbed that he's so readily attracted to high school girls... blink.gif

I liked the episode# good and solid. My only fear is that they won't close up the storyline at all. Namely little Jack missing the SGC and, namely, Carter. I mean... little Jack has all the same feelings as Jack Sr. ( blink.gif ), and we've seen how Jack has reacted in the past to being forced away from the SGC. I think he accepted leaving the SGC a little too much in the episode as it was.

The biggest question is, however, does he still hold the rank of General? If not, that's pretty damn unfair. He did mention the Air Force was providing for him, so they haven't just put him out to pasture.

Hell no.

I liked how Carter took the beer away from the kid, even though they were all convinced that he was really O'Neill.

That kid did sound just like O'Neill. It was funny.

I disagree with the sentiment that the kid left too easily. He knows without question that he's a clone, days-old and whatnot. I wouldn't want to be around either my original or many of the people my original knows if I were a clone, it would remind me constantly that I'm not really me. At least for a while anyway, long enough to get my identity down. I'd think that for a while you'd feel like meat stuffed with memories of a person you think is you, but isn't. It'd be really hard to deal with, unless you did something completely different. I'd think it'd be easier to go than to stay. But maybe I'm just reading too far into it. wacko.gif

He *is* O'Neill. Being a clone doesn't change who he is. The definition of a clone is a copy of the original, and except for his age, he is the same Jack O'Neill. We saw a similar situation when SG-1 had robot duplicates made and even the robots couldn't stay away from Stargate travel # and they're a lot less like the originals than Jack's clone is.

One of the things I enjoy about the show is it's ability to laugh at itself. I loved the scene where Clone Jack says "Just because it doesn't say Colonel on my uniform..." It's been a joke since the first season episode First Commandment and was beautifully parodied in Wormhole Xtreme. Jack's uniform rarely says Colonel laugh.gif . A classic Stargate moment.

And only in the Stargate World would a successful clone of a human be turned loose. A sense of realism without harsh reality intruding is another thing I like about the show.
