lantians, lantians, lantians, they said it half a dozen times so its not just a mistake when the wraith in "defiant one" called them lantians,
anyway, i found it very odd that an ancient went all the way to dagan to give them a zpm to hide in light of them about to pull out of peg for good(further proof imo that moros is still looking out for us without anyone paying attention cause shes suppose to be the good girl, afterall she did make the hologram for an abandoned city, ^^) the military guys rep got a beating poor kolya, he lives but fails yet again, now cowen gets to chew the man out again poor sora, still a prisoner, i wonder if she's kept in steve's old cage poor markham and smith, i dont think i've ever seen their faces poor bates, a confused as ever sheperd wanna be but great for the atlantis nerds dr zelenka gets a lot more face time and discover another cool gadet(nice setup for season ender) and mckay shows he has some balls, both in rebuking the rest of the team for joking around and when he steps up to kolya without flinching, i love the part when he looks at that guy with the gun tells him to give him his knife and snaps his fingers at him to hurry up, lol too bad they dont get to keep what they were looking for, i wonder why they didnt just tell them that the ancients are never coming back? |

QUOTE(nitesoul @ Jan 4th 2005, 12:47 AM) poor markham and smith, i dont think i've ever seen their faces Well we did see Markham in one episode.. For a bit at least. Remember 1x04 Thirty Eight Minutes? Shepard and I think Ford mentions Markham's name as being one of the two guys stuck in the forward section which was dematerialized in the event horizon. Oh I think he was the pilot on the rescue team's puddlejumper in 1x12 The Defiant One. |

I liked this episode. McKay continues to be a great bumbling scientist, while Ford does his thing being unconscious, and Teyla works on her impression of Teal'c.
The only bad part was that the Genii angle was easy to pick up. "How long have you lived on Atlantis? I see..." Big giveaway - they are underestimating the intelligence of the viewers with that kind of stuff. One thing I have to say about Atlantis in general, is that I am not really happy with whoever is doing the wardrobe. Why do the people on every planet look like they are wearing doorman outfits from 1918? Is it possible to get clothes that don't have a strip of some other color along the edges? |

Darn ignorant natives. This was a horribly good episode in the amount of foreshadowing it offered. I can't wait for The Siege, but waiting a whole summer for seasons 2 and 9? Unbearable.
I don't think we'll see the genii for awhile now after looking at the rest of the season descriptions. I am glad they closed the genii story line (for-now) instead of leaving us wondering. |

This is the first time i've noticed it, and am not sure if anyone has ever brought this up but . Why are they using DELL laptops?. i mean, geeze. I'd figure a company like "alienware" or "go-l" would want their awesome laptops featured on a tv show like this, but DELL? It just doesn't fit. No wonder its taking them forever to figure out everything in atlantis, they're using cheap intel consumer products. i wouldn't be suprised if they were using win ME. i bet if they had 64 bit amd laptops they could double their performance capabilities and have all of atlantis's cool technology at their disposal to kick some serious wraith butt!.

Maybe Dell donated some computer equipment to have their products to be displayed on the show as cheesy product placement (Both SG-1 and SG-A)

Kolya has to be the dumbest villain ever. And I don't mean he shouldn't be on the show, just that it's almost comical how easily he and his well-trained men have been defeated twice now.

Good ep I thought. Makes you wonder what else they could have done. For example if they weren't escorted back to the gate, leave a person or two behind to see which planet they hide the zpm on etc. or go back a couple of hours later and hopefully they hadn't moved it yet, and observe from the brush.... (Assuming the town was a distance from the gate, out of sight and ear shot).
Does it also seem interesting how every single planet with population (that aren't wraith) they've made enemies of, while sg-1 is almost the opposite? (usually anyway) just interesting.... This post has been edited by jmstacey: Jan 5th 2005, 12:07 AM |

Guess SG1 have been more helpful and less egotistical in thinking how they can help them. The SGA teams almost always think of their needs first?Witch is OK! Since the city is in great danger. But I think they gave up to easily on the ZPM in this ep.

Soooooo disappointed when they lost the ZPM but then again i was expecting it the whole time since it would make things far 2 easy. Nevertheless it was a pretty good episode....
so anxious to see the next ep.....just hope its not another hoax like episode 9 - Home and they actually do get a message back home |

*sigh* So obvious, one girl is a Genii spy, another has her own agenda... I would have expected a little sophistication and having the main of the order girl to be the Genii spy... meh. But it was amusing. Sheppard is getting more and more tolerable - well, as long as he's bantering with McKay, anyhow. Are they starting to see Teyla is a useless character themselves? She hasn't said more than 3 words in a row in ages! All for the better, IMHO...
Cept for the implication for the ending sequence of the season it was a filler-up episode, but if Atlantis keep their filler-ups in that level they're going the right way BTW - where is Zelenca supposed to be from? For some reason I remember he isn't a Russian... This post has been edited by Pitry: Jan 5th 2005, 7:20 AM |

he's czech...cant blame ya for thinking he's either russian, i would have thought german...no idea why though....
i thought that the bit where mckay says goodnight to his team and they're all going she likes you and he's like..what? was so funny. |

And just when you think McKay is getting lucky, she backstabs him... You almost could feel the pain, when she takes the ZPM away

It aways happens that way, just when they got something they need it gets snatched away....
And maybe they should give more people the gene and train more piolts, just a thought. Good ep, SGA is shaping up to be a great serries. |

Decent episode.
Having the same Vancouver setting is starting to annoy me. I have to wonder if they left the backlot to film it because some of the open areas looked eerily familiar to the exact same open area used in 1x06 'Childhood's End'. But it's sort of an inside joke that the creators of both SG-1 and now Atlantis use all of about a half-dozen spots to do all their filming. There are only two real problems I've ever had with Stargate in general. One was their writer's inability to write themselves out a hole, choosing instead to pull a rabbit out of their hats, and my inability to become immersed into the show when they are filming shots out of studio. The only time I am able to immerse myself into the show is when they are on set, and not outdoors. To this end I hope the creators try to spend more time in the studio than out on one of the lots trying to film outdoor scenes in yet another mountainous region of scenic British Columbia where it always looks like it's either raining, about to rain, or had just rained. As for the episode itself, the moment McKay mentioned they had only found Atlantis and left it at that I knew something was up. He should have added that the ancients left Atlantis for his world, and that they were the first to return. This way he could have made her realize that they were the natural successors to the ancients. I suspected that Allina would question the right of McKay and the team to take the ZPM if they gave her the impression they were not actually the ancients. I also think McKay should have told Allina that the ancients are never going to return. They're all dead, mostly at the hands of the wraiths who also killed off the members of the order. He might also have tested how strong her fealings were by refusing to hand it over? Shep' might have been able to threaten to destroy the ZPM rather than hand it back over like Jack did with the Eye of Ra from 6x21. Knowing that they do eventually get their hands on one later is the only thing that keeps me from throwing something at the screen and yelling "YOU NEED THAT THING TO SURVIVE!" I wonder if the dart's appearance was due to the knowledge the wraiths had from the previous epsiode 1x15, that there was a city of the ancients last seen on that particular planet? What's more, they never did explain why the wraiths didn't locate the city while it was underwater since they had to be curious why so many ancient vessals were traveling to that very same planet? Oh well. |

I really liked this episode and I felt that it got progressively better. Not without it's flaws though. For me it just wasn't that believable that the military would only have one man (Lieutenant Ford) guarding the entrance hole to what could be for them a discovery of astronomical importance. Especially when every other person was underground; It was obvious to be how bad this would be strategically if anything was to happen to Ford and a millitary would never take unnecessary risks.
However all in all a very entertaining episode. |

i think that when dr. zelinka says "who is going to fly the 3rd jumper" they should have left the scene with him for a couple of seconds longer before having carson.
i agree, it seems that Teyla didn't get a real sentence in...she had a maximum of 4 words said at one time otherwise it was just 2 words. Ford got a bit of action this episode and i was glad to see Mckay getting some guts and he really showed himself in this episode. I liked the funny bit where Dr. Zelinka says it Czech - I can't work with these actors. |
