This was a Daniel ep. through and through. Carter was in it for like 10 seconds and Jack and Teal'c had minor roles.

I thought it was a decent ep., certainly an upgrade from last weeks ep. And Chaka looked really swift in those clothes he was wearing. And I'm guessing Chaka can understand some English.

That colonel was a dick cause he kept wanting to shoot first, ask questions later. Good thing he didn't at the end or he would've been killed like ten times over. Three cheers for Daniel for saving his ass.

I give this ep. 2 1/2 stars. Hope to see more of Carter and jack in next ep.

Awesome, another new episode of Stargate SG1 aka "The Michael Shanks Hour" tongue.gif

This episode made me think of Dances with Wolves and what Chief Ten Bears said about the white people would just "keep coming" - change is inevitable.
In the end the Unas on that world would have be driven out so Earth could get their precious metal, but lookie what actual diplomacy can get you instead of conquest (are you listening Mr. Bush?).The scene with the Unas chief and Chaka was nice, although one wonders if the chief didn't think Chaka was a "humanized" Unas slave and scorn him at first.

Gee, hardly any screen time for Sam dry.gif (it's ok Amanda, baby, the 2 minutes we had together were my favorite wink.gif )
My favorite line was from Jack - "Daniel, go to your happy place." laugh.gif
Also it was good to see Michael Rooker again. Some may remember him from "Days of Thunder" and that Stallone movie "Cliffhanger". My favorite role he played was "Henry: Portrait of a serial killer"

Yeah it was good to see Rooker in this episode. I think he portrayed the "stubborn colonel" pretty good. Daniel and chaka together was good to see again, Chaka does look pretty cool now.

I guess having an hour of Michael Shanks is better than having no Shanks at all. Although i do like how he interacts with the rest of the team rather than him going solo as in most of this episode. Anyways its still nice to see more of him.

Hopefully we will get to see more of everyone at the same time in the upcoming episodes. As with these unas episodes, i think we've had enough of them or atleast until we resolve some other storylines. wink.gif

Wow. Michael Shanks leaves for a season, comes back and gets plenty of face time. I'm not complaining, just observing. We have an Amanda Tapping takes a week off episode. . . actually they were probably shooting future episodes with her while this episode was being put together.

The SGC save their bullets for the Goa'uld from what I gather but we also get a progress report on the F-302 and F-303. . . we can't make them without the Naquida.

Actually, this seemed to be Daniel and Teal'c mostly. RDA showed up a little, Amanda even less. Not only is this promotion for daniel but also for SG-1, and the fact that they're the best team, even when split up.

However, what I notice is: Is it just me or is "CHAKAH" getting more and more human looking everytime we see him. The rest of the unas were fine, I'm just taling about daniels good buddy.

Lifeboat was a showcase ep for MS and his"talent". dry.gif But this was a showcase for Daniel and was much better for it. Daniel's interaction with the Unas has always been great and this was no exception.

What bothered me from the beginning was the military/Pentagon attitude. It was the old colonial attitude of "I claim this planet, all its riches and people for Earth" rearing its ugly head. Just because the naquadah mine was viable didn't give them the right to force the Unas to cooperate, move or die. As Daniel said, "We're the invaders."

While the Colonel in charge of the mining operation was ok, he was no Jack. These Jack-Light eps are getting pretty light. And I think this is the first time Carter has only had one scene and a throw away one at that. That surprised me.

And yes, I think Chaka was looking very smooth and more human. No rough edges.

First of all i think this was an excellent episode, good episode for Daniel to show what he was made of. Really brought back the Daniel we all know and love. One major flaw, though, was that there was not enough Jack and Sam, Jack was in it for 10-15 minutes and Sam was in it all of 1 minute, not that i'm against an episode centering around Daniel, don't get me wrong, i just like seeing all of SG-1 and not 1.5/4 of it the whole time. I would have liked the team to actually communicate with each other as well as the Unas.

Also, i noticed one thing that i'm sure that somebody else had to notice.......the Unas were speaking French, no kiddding. When the Unas said what Daniel translated as "what" he said: "quel" or "quelle" which is "what" in French. Coincidence?.........i think not.

A decent episode, I guess. It was the first one this season that I only watched once. (I usually catch the repeat as well.) But I was never a fan of the Unas, so maybe that had something to do with it.

my favorite parts of the ep were when sg-1 showed up on the planet and daniel started to freak out about the miners moving artifacts. being an anthropology/archeology major, i completely understand. finds like that should be treated sort of like a crime scene and nothing should be moved until proper documentation of the area has been done. but i enjoyed the "happy place" comment...hehehe laugh.gif
the second set of scenes i liked where the campfire scenes. they showed the liguistic side of daniel and his ability to bring two different peoples together. fabulous.
my only quibble about the ep would be the lack of the other team members. i miss the fun interaction!!! hope it is back for the next ep!!! sad.gif

great episode.. I do beleave this episode is current to the time line. The air force needs ships, weapons, and power supplies. The thing that is in the mine is what they need to do so in a large quanity(sp).

great action, although it was another danny boy episode. Hmmm just a thought, I think the D.J. was nessary(sp) to have more episode to explan how much experiance he had gain by the "Ascension". D.J. may become more of a leader in smaller missions or shows that might break off of SG1, just the make D.J. the star(not saying M.S. will continue being d.J.).

Getting back to the Current time line. S.G. teams 1/12 have also just found a large group of Unas to mine. They are also strong allies ot fight the Goa'uld.

ARMIES A Massing for the humans hehehe big Action

I wouldn't put it past the producers if they save the final showdown for a block buster movie... tongue.gif

Well I didnt like this episode much, I think its the worst I've seen in the series yet, but it was still ok. Why I didnt like it as much as the others? well I guess its because not a lot happened, the story itself wasnt too interesting and the acting/action in it wasnt as enjoyable to watch as previous episodes. If i was to rate it I guess 5/10 would be fair, because it wasnt terrible, it wasnt great either.

I liked this episode a lot. They don't all have to be full of sci-fi cliches such as ships and technobabble or big explosion but something thoughtful like this. It really showed us why Daniel is still on the team. Note: I really enjoy the technobabble and fights so don't rule them out yet.

Another Daniel episode, they must think we miss him alot wink.gif Sam Carter was only in it for a minute, and Jack was only in it for the first 10 minutes or so. Tealc didnt really have much to say, so in a way more of a Daniel episode than last week. It was also miles better, although the theme of stupid untrustworthy superior and slowly realising that Sg1 is right has been played out many times before (one of them was Season 4 Chain reation when the new commanding officer realised Carter is right all along).

Anyway, Unas is not a favourite storyline for me but nevertheless it is quite good even though the plot had been doen before. Chaka as a liason is a good addition (is that the same actor?) although he looks slightly different than before. The language barrier... I guess if all humans speak English then I guess all Unas speak er... Unas-ness? (no, I'm not sneasing!).

I am surprise about the negotiation, the Unas will mine the n'aquida for us? Impressive. I am also surprise that Hammond would agree to force the native off their planet - I guess under orders from the Pentagon but still...

One other thing... I wish Daniel was wrong for once... it could so easily have gone the other way.

I liked the episode...I really like the Unas language. Its fun to repeat. Anyhow, I'm kinda getting annoyed at the excuses to get Jack out of the picture. "Jack has been abducted by the Asgard"..."Jack has been knocked unconscious"..."Jack hurt his arm".... just STUPID things like that. Bleh. I wish they could come up with something mroe significant for his absence. Anyhow, overall it was good.
