I believe this was by far the best Unas episode ever. I thought that it was really cool how Daniel negotiated with the tribes leader. I wonder how many tribes there actually were.

French Carter, I think your right. I don't that those pictures were in this episode. It might be from a deleted scene.

Waves to Chaka. Though I now live in the desert of Arizona, Wisconsin will always be home. Are u native? Welcome, sir!

When I watched this ep I kept thinking: This parallels the argument between the whites & the american indians over rights concerning sacred places like the Black Hills--even better, Mike was the boy that was adopted into the Tribe! Is it just me?!

I liked this ep completely. Mike was in his element again. Rick even backed him about usually being right. Can't beat that! I love hearing Mike speak other languages
tongue.gif Are there others where he does so?

?: Dion Johnstone was Chaka in The 1st Ones & Beast of Burden, was he not? If so, is he also in Enemy Mine?

I liked that ep because it saw the return of the Unas and Chaka in particular. We also found out that there was a peace treaty made with the humans in"Beast of Burden" which was pretty cool. I thought there was a bit too much Unas talk though all that nonsense when they were sitting around the fire but it wasn't too bad. I especially liked the part where Daniel explained how they bring death to the Goa'uld with Naquada.

Ofcourse the action and all the firefights with the Unas was sweet however i thought we would be able to gun down more than that, ah well thats the US Military for ya. It was great when like a few hundred Unas stood on the tree line around the mine and Colonel Edwards was like.......crap......... laugh.gif

Colonel Edwards was cool though because he hated the Unas and i loved it when he was staring Chaka in the eye.

Shame there wasn't much of Jack and Sam but hey nice to see lots of Daniel or should I say "Danel".

Anyway thats my little speech on this ep king.gif

Great stuff, can't wait till next week. jester.gif

I loved this episode! Definatley one of my favourites so far this season, actually it could just be my favourite. All episodes so far this season have been good I think, not just because they've had loads of Daniel in them (although that certainly helps wink.gif ) but because they are just really good. Enemy Mine was definately no exception.

"Daniel, go to your happy place" was classic! I thought there was quite a few funny moments, maybe not obvious and hilariously funny but there were alot of moments that made me chuckle.
The main reason I like this ep was because we once again got to see Daniel do what he does best, communicating with other cultures, negotiating etc. And I've always liked Chaka. It's a pity we don't get to see more of him. I think anytime when Chaka and Daniel are together is great for some reason.

I can't remember who mentioned this earlyer, I think it was Sokar, but Chaka did look really different from what I can remember of him in The First One's and Beast of Burden. I thought it was just my bad memory but I'm glad somebody else thinks the same too.

Did it seem to anyone else that Daniel was sort of enjoying Chaka being kinda nasty towards and challenging Colonel Edwards? Daniel and Edrwards didn't particularly like each other and they dissagreed on things, so it seemed to me that Daniel was secretly liking Chaka not liking Edwards (did that make sense? lol)

Overall, I loved this Episode, my favourite Season 7 ep so far!

Overall, I loved this Episode, my favourite Season 7 ep so far!

It was my favourite episode of the Season so far as well. I'm dissappointed that so many people didn't really like it and found it boring though. I can see how someone who likes the action and major story arcs might be bored with this, but I personally think that it was very well thought out and that it was a really good story.... one of the best standalone episodes for a very long time in my opinion.

Okay this was one episode when the lack of O'Neill really showed...and to make it worse carter was only in it for a whole, what 60 seconds.

The 'go to your happy place' comment was the greatess and made up for the lack of Jack, sort of.

Well at least there should be more carter next week to make-up.

okay...stop me if you've heard it....How many Stargate main characters can you omit from an entire episode and still try to make it entertaining?? Anyone??

Geez talk about lack of Jack....lack of the whole whack more like it laugh.gif

still, a pretty good episode overall I guess - reinforces the decision to bring back Shanksy - he is fab!!

However I will say one thing? WHERE'S THE SHIPPY-NESS.....need more....not enough.......grrrr.

Although it was cute when Carter asked Jack how his arm was and he came over all macho..... 'its fine', when all he had done was moan about it before.

I think this ep is my least favourite of the season so far. sad.gif

It wasnt the fact that there was a lack of main characters, (e.g. Jack & Sam), or that i found it boring, i've just never been a fan of the Unas eps.
However, i think that this ep was by far the best Unas episode there has been.
I liked the fact that we got some closure on the ep "Beast Of Burden", although i'm not too fond of those "creature from the black lagoon" lookalikes, i'm glad they were able to negotiate some kind of peace. smile.gif

Did anyone else think Chaka (sp?) looked a bit to plastic and fake compared to the other Unas?

I thought the ep was good! 2/3rd best of the season so far for me.
Yer Chaka did look different, but i liked the clothes they made him look more like a diplumat than an Unas. Missing sam and jack didn't affect this ep. I thought it was great when O'niell got clothelined by ironshirt!, I also though it was great near the end when all the Unas surounded the camp. Oh and was it me or did in parts the Unas sound like a pack of dogs?

I enjoyed this episode despite the lack of Sam and Jack or very much of Teal'c for that matter. A vast improvement on Lifeboat.

It seems that Shanksy was persuaded to return to the fold with the promise of a substantial increase in "Daniel-centred" episodes, possibly at the expense of good storylines-Lifeboat being a case in point (good acting poor story).

I'm not sure about this - maybe, but I think it's probably just coincidence that there are two Daniel centered episodes back-to-back. I guess everyone is going to get slightly more focus this season because of Jack's absence. In addition to 'Lifeboat', I thought that another that fits under the 'good acting, poor story' was 'Fragile Balance'. I'm sure loads of people would disagree with me on that though, but it's just my opinion smile.gif

Yeah, I agree with Aesir (and about Fragile Balance too). I think the main problem was that two Daniel centred episodes back to back was perhaps a little too much. (Then again we're probably going to get the same later on with Carter). Probably wouldn't have felt too much if there'd been a whole lot more of the others in both eps but there really wasn't. Jack, I understand because of RDA's commitments, but Sam and Teal'c? C'mon, Sam got one line and a pathetic excuse for not being there with her team and Teal'c kind did the big silent old Jaffa routine that I hoped we'd seen the back of. I'm sure there's a reason for it but, honestly, I'd rather they just say so and so is off on leave or something and not have them there at all.

I am beginning to wonder what further plot devices they're going to use to off Jack for forty five mintes though....

At number five! It's the old Jack gets injured ploy!
At number four, we have the Jack gets stranded off world while the gate breaks down and we hear only radio contact with him...
Rising one place to number three we have the just don't give him much to say and include stock footage of him on his own and hope people don't notice (a la Lifeboat).
Dropping down from last week's number one to take second, turn Jack into a kid and have another actor play him.
And in the number one spot this week, it's the focus so many episodes on other characters that we forget that he's actually not about much.

Hah hah! Actually, kudos to the writers because it all seems to be working fairly well for me. I'm not missing him too badly to be honest. Lifeboat and this one are the first weeks that I've really noticed a lac of Jack.

I did enjoy this episode, despite the fact that the Unas bore the pants off me and there was so little team play. The story was good and solid and actually had a moral. I liked the chemistry between Daniel and the other Colonel, and the comment about breaking in a new colonel too.

I liked this episode. I seem to have missed the last Unas one, so for me, this was REALLY interesting and I ssaw them in a new, less evil light. They are Cool! I like em.

I thought it was a good story and very interesting. I liked when Daniel was communicating with the Unas especially, it was funny. Actually all of the ep was good. Except the stupid general guy (was he an actual general? i dont rmemeber now) you know, the guy in charge of the place. he was annoying, but i guess that was the point.

i liked it though. good.

(actually, i think ive said for almost every episode lately! i cant remember not liking one! sorry bout that w00t.gif )

I really liked this episode because it reminded me of the first two seasons where the team focused on doing the right thing more than blowing up the enemy. I did prefer the last unas story--the one with the slavery theme because it had both the concern about doing the right thing AND blowing up the enemy, but if I have to pick one or the other, I'd rather have the interesting ideas.

This is another episode on my list of 'didn't think much of it first time, but really enjoyed it second time around'. I have a lot of those. <g>

Other posters have already mentioned several elements which stuck out for me.

On first showing this episode irked me more than a little because seemed to me to be more or less a reworking of Spirits. As has been said already - you'd think they'd have learned from that experience! But I guess not. So that put me off a little. When I watched it again last night though, it didn't really bother me and I found quite a lot of interesting moments that made me like this one more.

I too loved Daniel's reaction to being told just how many Unas there were. And the scenes with him and Chakka around the campfire were very nicely done. I do like the relationship those two have and it's always nice to get a further glimpse of it.

Like other posters, I did smile at Jack suddenly straightening up and playing down how much pain he was in when Carter asked him how he was doing. Poor Jack. <g> I swear, RDA is the best actor on the planet for acting at being in pain. I never fail to be impressed with him there. He is so good at doing it he makes me wince. I think the best example of that is the arrow through the arm in Spirits. I could almost feel that one myself. <G>

And the 'go to your happy place' is a classic. Made me LOL.

Anyone notice that in both this and the previous episode, Sgt. Siler has been in the infirmary? Seems the poor guy had a couple accidents lately tongue.gif
In the previous ep, his nose was broken, in this he was pretty messed up. (I'm slightly unsure if it was him in the latter though.)

Yet another stand alone episode which could of been really entertaining but left me cold. The story line was good, but it just lacked that certain something to keep me entertained. Possibly because of the lack of the use of SG-1. lol.

I hope the whole of season 7 isn't like this: I want to see much more action. w00t.gif
