well i loved it, very good, but hopefully we will see some other alien races like more allies & enemies, it's actually very likely that the replicators are in the pegasus galaxy seeings their everywhere , even in that unchartered galaxy in exodus/enemies.

The episode was quite enjoyable, and they did tie in together quite nicely. Ive noticed that many people share in the feeling that the atlantis episode was better than the sg-1 episode this week. Saying as they tie together with the whole cloud/assended thing I wonder if this was deliberate by sci-fi to get the skeptics of atlantis to become hooked. By comparing two similar topics and making it seem atlantis is the better of the two (this week at least), I think it will insure that more people will watch atlantis as the episodes roll on.

Got one better. SciFi is advertising they're going to re-broadcast the pilot ep tonight (Tuesday July 27th) @ 8pm on Scifi. I missed the pilot too, so I'll be watching. |

I liked the episode. The scene with Mckay and Dr. Beckett when hes about to deliver the gene therapy to Mckay was hilarious!!

um...how exactly did the big alien dude hurt his leg? they did mention that it was hurt by the wraiths
he was walking around fine all the way thru the pilot most obvious time is when they are all getting into the puddle jumper on the wraith planet, and he would have had to hurt it before as nothing on the ship exploded or anything, hes also standing around in the background of the celebration at the end with no crutches bit of a continuity boo-boo methinks |

My guess is that he broke his leg in real life. But how do you know the Character didn't trip and fall down some stairs between Episodes 102 and 103?

actually i take that back...i watched the ep again and they didnt actually say he got hurt in the first episode...they just said "we dont want anyone else getting hurt the way <some name starting with H, sounded like howling, assuming its the big guy> did" (re: playing with ancient gizmos)
you are probably right and the actor hurt his leg and the explanation is that he touched something he shouldnt have /me will pay more attention next time |

I really liked this ep. I think SGA is getting off to a good start.
It was really cool that they keep finding tech things all over the city. I wish they would start exploring more of the city. McKay was quite funny. I'm beginning to like him, when he was on SG1 I hated him. It seems being on anothor planet brings out his heroic side. Sheppard's character is shaping up quite nicely. He isn't like anothor O'Neill and that's good. A strong start overall. |

I caught this episode last night and well, in general, I thought it was better than "Lockdown". Which was basically the same plot except you had Anubis as your glowing black energy being instead of some unknown sentient being being studied by the ancients.
All in all, it wasn't a great episode. But, it wasn't bad. I did like it better than Lockdown. I've expressed my issues in that thread. What I liked about Hide and Seek, inspite of the fact that this wasn't a strong script, was the humor. I really like Dr Beckett. I didn't realize he was a medical doctor. I thought he was a biochemist or biologist. Having him as a physician gives him some leverage with Rodney Mckay. I loved watching the opening scene where Beckett gives him the shot of DNA. I won't go into how scientifically wrong that was, since you just don't arbitrarily go injecting people with random DNA. But, I loved the fact that Mckay is squeamish. I really do believe I'm going to enjoy watching those two argue with each other. I think the humor is what kept me interested. It certainly wasn't the suspense. There was no sense of tension. There was no sense of real danger. That black energy blob struck me as being more of an annoyance than a threat. You know, you never felt that the kid was ever in danger. I do like the graphics. I think Atlantis looks great. But, I'm surprized at how much Weir and the team have learned inspite of the fact that they've only been on Atlantis for a few days. I mean, how did Dr Weir and Mckay become such experts at reading the Ancients language ? I took Daniel weeks to translate one tablet of text in previous Stargate episodes. How did those two become fluent ? I was really surprized to see that Dr Weir was able to understand the prayer the (I forgot his name) tribal leader said in the room. Did I miss something ? How and where did Mckay and Weir learn fluent ancient when even Daniel and Jack didn't even really know. That's a big leap of faith for us fans to take. I guess it must go with all those aliens being able to speak fluent English. Okay... that's my two cents. I'll probably think of more later. oh yeah, thought of something. Why doesn't Sheppard have a military haircut ? His hair is too long. If he were in the real military it would have been shorn off long ago. One thing i've noticed about Atlantis is that some of the lines are very hard to understand. I mean, I'm finnish and I understand english pretty well (or at least i like to think so) but some lines in Atlantis are almost impossible to make out. In SG-1 they were easy to understand, and even Daniel pronounced stuff more clearly than McKay does. Heck, even the scottish guy in Atlantis is easier to underestand than McKay at his worst.
For example, i have no idea what the opening line of this episode (Hide and seek) was. It sounded something like: "Gonna get trying anyone?" Could someone translate it to me, please? (It's the scene where McKay is talking to the mouse and Beckett says "Not really") |

The shield looked to me as though it acted like a second skin. Since all a stethoscope does is amplify the sound of the heartbeat so it can be heard clearly through the skin, I would think that it still worked even with the shield activated. If we saw Beckett touch McKay, though, there should have been a flash of green light at the point of contact, like we saw when McKay tried to remove the device and later when he tried to drink from the mug. |

Brilliant episode. McKay was hilarious. The scene with him and Beckett at the beginning, him being pushed over the balcony, being punched and the towards the end when he turns on the torch. The look on his face when he turned on the torch was brilliant.

it showed a lot of character..like the developing of the characters and i think that in this episode we saw that Sheppard didn't really think highly of Mckay.

Well I think Atlantis has made a very promising start for me. This was a good episode. Very glad they didn't skip over the whole deal about their just arriving and adjusting to living with Teyla's people (having effectively ousted them from their home). The enegry entity thing was pretty good and the story handled well. Glad they didn't take the obvious route and they let the thing go. Got to wonder if tht isn't going to come back and nite them on the backside at a later date though.
Really loved Mckay in this one. He is by far my favourite character, with Beckett probably coming in second. Think we're going to have a nice little double act going on here. Going to have to work a lot on the other characters though, as I'm not really gelling with any of the others. Liked the way they played the shield thing with humour, and Mackay's obvious attention grabbing tactics at highlighing his plight. Not that you ever really believed he was in danger anyway. What didn't work so well was the tension they tried to create between the Earth people and Teyla's people. I'm thinking they were trying to suggest a lack of trust between them but it just seemed a bit washed out to me. Didn't really get any sense of trust building or tension from it at all. I enjoyed this episode though the energy creature/lifeform seemed a little too "Star Trekkie" for my liking-the sort of creature Jean-Luc would have tackled many a moon ago.
Nice to see that there is still enough to keep them entertained in the city and that they are not fighting the Wraith every week. Plus points for McKay this week-highly amusing |

He says "Got your eye on anyone?" I had to rewind it and watch it again, I didn't get it the first time either. I am liking this show more and more every week, it's hilarious! It seemed to me that this episode concentrated more on the comedy than anything else- the big thing of darkness floating around really seemed to take a back seat. But I've got no complaints about that, as long as they keep on having such great scenes with Beckett and Mckay! I loved it when Major Sheppard pushed Mckay off the balcony and said that he shot him as well, and all the comedy in general that was based around Mckay as they all made fun of him. Overall, great episode. I'm really looking forward to next week. |

Not as good as the first episode, but this one emphasizes on two great story lines and how they are put together a the end. Great story so far.

i think they could have done better this episode...
it seemed like a slow episode compared to the premiere and while it showed suspense it could have had some better acting |

Well, I thought this episode was fantastic, if only for that great scene after Sheppard pushes McKay over the balcony. The look on his face is priceless. And the scenes between McKay and Beckett were all pretty funny. And I love the bit after McKay 'passes out' and Sheppard deliberately tells Weir he fainted. Great seeing how all the characters are developing and how their relationships with each other are progressing. oh and the football scene was god but can someone explain to me exactly what a Hail Mary is and why its named after a prayer. I don't watch american gridiron and it makes no sense to me. I mean, does a Hail Mary play refer to something that no-one expects or a last-ditch effort that even the people doing it expect it to fail?
