Here are the first details on "Grace Under Pressure" from Stargate Project:

When McKay finds himself stuck in the back of a Puddle Jumper under 4000 meter of sea water, the team races against time to save his life. Even a "friend" from earth comes to Atlantis to help.

Martin Wood about "Grace Under Pressure": "As for 'Grace under Pressure'...think about [...] SG-1's episode called 'Grace' and then think of McKay - by himself - under 4000 meters of sea water - stuck in the back of a Puddle Jumper ..."

Okay I haven't seen or heard anything about this yet, but could the friend from Earth possibly be Sam? I mean Rodney has had a thing for her for years. It would be an interesting show. But I have a question, we learn in Atlantis, Season 2, Siege Part III,
Click for Spoiler
If that's the case, how long can Rodney stay down there?

The little brat, she deserves some pressure. I mean the child, Grace, of course.

Lol! How strange would it be if she turns out to be some representation of an ascended being that?s trying to legally ?guide? Rodney (plus Sam) without breaking rules rather than illegally telling him the entire answer? It won't be true of course because this "friend" is from Earth so it has to be a major character or an ally.

Hopefully he'll also have concussion and starts hallucinating like Sam, his inner narcissist could come out to tell him how important he is so has to survive or the defeatist could insist that ?Ohhhh, you?re a dead man?.

I think this is the perfect chance to show his true character, with Sam she had the interesting facets of her personality so with McKay the hallucinations could show that they aren?t just the same type of ?genius? necessary in the respective shows but are indeed very different individuals at the most fundamental level.

I can?t wait to see this because it has to be a more emotional episode and is a chance to show whether Rodney will go with ?the bitter taste of ultimate failure? or the rational attempt to find a solution regardless of result ala ?Before I Sleep?.

Oooo! Time to analyse his psyche on all its many levels! I can?t wait!

As long as this friend doesn?t find a miracle solution or work across the radio to ?bounce? ideas before Rodney comes to a sudden ?revelation? of how to save himself? Oi, I?d hate that.

Personally, I want a similar episode to Grace where?s he?s completely alone? Rodney in a box with the sound of water stroking against the creaking hull, the lifelessly black Sea only a few inches away permanently reminding him of what traps him, and perhaps the life support gradually draining of power so that it becomes harder and harder to survive.

Plus his inner-demons constantly reminding him of all the emotional depths he has, the constant stirring he?ll no doubt try to repress, and trying to get a grip on the many issues coursing through his mind. Then if Grace does happen to appear (fingers crossed for her to actually be a representation of a guardian angel) it would be comical to see the child hating McKay handle the very cryptic image he?s presented with.

I doubt that Grace will be in it though, probably just things that are akin to the goings-on of that episode.

Wow? I?m stopping prattling now. biggrin.gif

This was on Gateworld's page for 'Grace Under Pressure', from Martin Gero:

"Gero further hinted that Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) could be appearing in this Atlantis episode!"

sound to me like it may be similar to grace (sg1) but tahts not a problem but there is only a limited space were to work in. it worked in 38 minutes (atlantis season 1) but can they reproduce it with just rodney.

Wow, this sounds like a great episode biggrin.gif I can't wait to find out how Rodney acts all alone in a situation like this.

Felger, I deffinetly agree with you, this is the perfect chance to show his true character and see exactly what kind of a genius he is.

can't wait!!!! w00t.gif

Well im sure im not alone in saying that the only good thing about GRACE was the sweet alien ship, bout the size of a hive ship etc etc..............

I hope that GRACE UNDER PRESSURE has something equally as exciting coz an episode of Rodney cryin about drowning wont be high on my viewing list.........

Well that my opinion anyway...................... whistling.gif

I don' think this episode actually has anything at all to do with the little girl from 'Grace' or any other beings for that matter.

Carter most likely travels back on the Daedalus to Atlantis. Possibly to check for something to help against the Ori. She then just arrives in the nick of time to help with the little McKay problem.

More likely this will be more McKay trying to keep his grace in such a terrifying situation. Especially since he doesn't like being trapped in small spaces. We all know McKay begins to freak when he loses his cool & starts to get stressed out. & put under pressure. None more so, than when his very survival depends on others who he deems to be nowhere near as smart as him & there isn't anything that he can do about it. That's more likely what the title will be referring to.

I agree. I was thinking more like the term 'grace under pressure' than the little girl Grace. McKay so has the tendency to panic to soon out of fear than necessity.

It may not even be Carter at all either.

Just got another little piece of interesting info regarding this episode.

DH gave an interview to a French Stargate site.

Stargate Atlantis Reunion

Here is the respone that made it interesting.

QUOTE
Q:The producers mentioned that they'd like to see the Atlantis Team
going offworld with SG-1. Is that foreseeable?
It could be great to see McKay with Samantha Carter again.

A:Funny that you should mention that...let's just say McKay and Carter in a puddle jumper full of water!

It seems that she will be trapped in the Jumper under the Ocean along with McKay.

**thinking of Carter soaked in water** Did I just say that..... Anyhow this fact that Rodney & Sam are trapped in a PJ underwater, Have we ever seen Rodney or Sam fly a PJ for that matter. And I wonder will the PJ be on the Atlantis planet or on another world like Watergate where the gate is underwater. Because I like all these references to fomer SG1 EPs

Also for us in the US and who have the Sci-Fi channel did anyone else notice that this EP is on the same week as Ethon just a little thing that got me thinking huh.gif

Yes McKay received the ATA treatment from Beckett in 'Hide & Seek."

He then briefly flew one in 'The Defiant one' before they came across the Weapons satellite platform. What I don't get is why Carter would agree to be alone with Mckay for. Last time she couldn't stand him, So that's what i'm interested in finding out. If it was a tour of the planet or on an away mission then I'm sure Shep would have been the man for the job.

I'll be honest with you, I don't think O'Neill has anything to worry about in the love rival stakes. More likely they'll be on an away mission & McKay or Carter or both need to get something from back home. So Shep gives McKay permission to take it back or something like that. Another situation is Shep needs McKays help on something off-world. So McKay gets ready to take a Jumper out to give assistance & Carter just having got there decided to tag along fot the ride. Then something happens. I really can't see any other reason why Carter would agree to it, especially since she can't stand him.

Will make for good dynamics though. Especially when it was Carter who decoded the message from 'Letters from Pegasus' & Rodney make his burning torch confession about Carter.

Maybe Sam won't exactly be there but will just be McKay's hallucination, like Daniel, Jack, and Teal'c were to Sam in SG-1's "Grace". That would be amusing, I would love to see her teasing McKay, eating lemons while talking to him and stuff; maybe even an McKay/Sam kiss like the one with Sam/Jack at the end of "Grace"???w00t.gif*cackle*

aww... j/k... don't think poor Mckay can get that lucky, even in his dreams.

Still a dream EP like Grace would be good I think thats where the EP will be going in that direction

But today in my high school english class [Yes im in high school] we started talking about Ernest Hemmingway and his stratgies as an author and the term Grace Under Pressure came up so it made me Immeaditally think of this. But the term refers to the ability to function under high stress/ high pressure [form people not water] as in a heros ability to have the world on his/her shoulders and still pull through

QUOTE(TV Guide Sept 25-Oct 1 edition)
?Stargate Worlds Collide?

Amanda Tapping was on maternity leave for the first few episodes of Stargate: SG-1?s ninth season.  But now not only is she back, she?s about to pull some serious double duty, too.  Tapping?s character, ace scientist and kick-butt solider Samantha Carter, will pop up in a January episode of sister show Stargate: Atlantis.  Look for Carter to appear when bumbling science nerd Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) conjures up his old foil to help him escape from a sinking puddle jumper.  ?Basically, I appear as a hallucination...I?m not really there,? Tapping explains.  Her favorite part of the shoot?  Reviving the snarky relationship between Carter and McKay.  ?They genuinely like each other, but they?re so competitive.  It?s almost like a sibling rivalry thing with a little bit of sexual tension thrown in.? ? Ethan Alter

It?s always nice to see Stargate get some recognition in the mainstream media...even with the typo. Just what is a ?solider? anyway? rolleyes.gif

Ah, so Carter is a hallucination. I guess that means Grace, in the episode of the same name, was also a hallucination brought on by Sam's concussion.

i've been thinking that carter is in atlantis itself and mackay has his own 'grace'.

but now i find out that carter IS grace

that kinda makes sense to me. in grace 'grace' said that she was carter's imagination. in grace under pressure carter is mackay's imagination.

i wonder if teyla, sheppard, weir, ronan and (i hope so) zelenka appear as hallucinations? i'd love to see 'zelenka' and mackay argue in the jumper. possibly with zelenka being different to his real self.
do we know if rodney will have a chat with family ala carter-'dad' ?possible his sis that he mentioned in letters from pegasus
