Here is the latest ranking system. I have replaced most of the simple pips with actual insignia:
![]() Also, clicking on any rank insignia will now take you to this post, so that you can see what number of posts are required to attain the next level. This thread may also be used to discuss other aspects of the forum. |

Do you think you'll see a marked difference with these new rankings? I mean, the original reason why you went with the pips was so there'd only be one download of a single pip, rather than having to download each image, right?

Ok that's cool. Just outta curiosity what was the reason for the change arc? Did you just fancy something different?
But it's good to have somewhere to officially discuss the forum instead of just using the old forum ranking thread. It's cool. This post has been edited by Invisible Painting: Jan 22nd 2006, 4:26 PM |

One thing that has been bothering me. I like when you get a pm a window pops up to let you know. That is great. However, if you choose not to read the PM right away than every time you go somewhere the window pops up again and again. You have to go and quickly look at it, leave the mail section and it still pops up but only with the top blue line. I have to click the F5 button to make it finally go away. Is there a way that if you click the X button on it that it just goes away until you feel like reading the PM's?

I was just looking at the original list of ranks from when you first opened the site, and what I was wondering was, Why did you get rid of the "NID Agent" rank?

I had originally intended to use the insignia for all ranks, but decided against it due to bandwidth concerns. However, after seeing them in use at the Alpha Site, I thought it was a good idea to put them in. I am working on a plan to alleviate the bandwidth problem and hopefully speed up the site, but those details will wait for another day.
If you guys over there have any other ideas, let me know... |

Yeah, that was kind of funny how we took over that thread and made it the unofficial Archive comment site. |

Points? Points for what? There are no points here, only post counts. And posting just to raise your post count is frowned upon here.

Ok then I mean how do you rase your rank. I see I am a civilian and I see that others are higher. How did they do that? I know that on the original Showtime SG-1 Site you were able to rise in rank through verious options. However I don't see that here. So how did they get the ranks that they got.

You raise your rank by posting...but don't post just to raise your rank. People don't appreciate that very much. Most people don't care what rank you are, so it really doesn't matter. It's just a fun way of seeing how much you participate.

Indeed, posting just for the sake of posting will get you labelled a spammer, or post whore, or both.
I don't believe that posts in the Off Topic sections count, so don't be surprised by that. Arcady, I love the new insigs. For bandwidth would it make sense to post them offsite on a good free image site and link them in? This post has been edited by bigjohn_1972: Jan 23rd 2006, 1:33 AM |

Since I don't pay attention to the rankings, it took me awhile to notice the difference, LOL! But they do look good.

Yeah I must admit I had to read the change before I noticed. The threads I was in all the posters were generals ect lol. But it is good though and I do like it, it's a change and a good setup.
But glad we can inspire ideas here EDIT: Since when have we had battlestar galactica and star trek sub forums?? This post has been edited by Invisible Painting: Jan 23rd 2006, 8:41 AM |

Yeah, just check out the Tv section and the sub sections are at the top. There are one's for star trek, BSG and star wars. I think it is a good idea though, for those that want to discuss those shows.
