Episode 313 - "Irresponsible", Spoilers

With weapons raised, the gang's leader, Haemon, asks Sheppard if he is the "hero" who is rumored to be the one who will stop them from robbing the town and burning it to the ground. Sheppard doesn't know what he's talking about, but the answer soon becomes clear. Lucius Lavin arrives with an air of triumph, declaring that he is the hero and will protect the village! When the thugs attack him, their blows magically bounce off him. Lucius is wearing an Ancient personal shield emitter. He makes quick work of the thugs and wins the hearts of the villagers, including the loyal man Amaris and the hesitant and intelligent "Serving Wench." The team visits with Lucius and his new home, but after saying goodbye they decide to stick around and see if they can learn what Lucius is up to this time. They follow him to a secret meeting with Haemon and his men, learning that Lucius hired them to stage the attack ... and he's not willing to pay them what they agreed to. The men are furious, and one has a broken wrist from the scuffle. Not only that, but they are proud soldiers of the Genii -- former members of Cowen's personal guard, who were forced to work for hire after Ladon Radim's coup ("Coup D'etat"). Lucius must finally rely on Colonel Sheppard and the others when an ally of the mercenaries -- none other than Acastus Kolya (Robert Davi) -- arrives to deal with Lucius personally. Of course, Kolya has much bigger priorities than the con man; he wants Sheppard's team. It's the expected return of Kolya, and the second role this season for Richard Kind, as Lucius Lavin. He is an unpleasant soldier, who now has nobody to serve. I always preferred the girl that may or may not be imprisoned in Atlantis. Lucius could be a cool character. Yet another con man.. I bet Vala would like him!

It's the expected return of Kolya, and the second role this season for Richard Kind, as Lucius Lavin. sounds like a bit of a boring episode personally I couldn't stand the genii they were weak bad guys that were always technologically inferior to us and colm meaney was terrible as there leader he just doesn't do the bad guy part very well

It is similar to the "Black" SG-1 in 'Ripple Effect', they were willing to go to any lengths to ensure they survived. The Genii could have been a very good enemy for the Atlantis team but they just weren't very well thought out.

Now, I guess, they are in kind of an alliance, but who knows? I have felt that the Genii could turn at anytime, if they had the right incentive. Like you said, the Black SG1 in Ripple Effect, they will do whatever they have to so that they can survive. I get the feeling that they don't care who they use. I mean they used their people that were sick, knowing they would die, but didn't care.

It was a cute stand-alone episode but I am not happy with them making a come back with the Lucius story. I am glad they have incorporated Kolya in there and I hope he gets the focus in the episode, otherwise it will be a boring one. I hope I am wrong!

Yay Canada. This episode was really not that great in my opinion. Detailed summary starts now: » Click to Show Spoiler « The team learns of a new village that they want to set up trade negotiations with who claim to have a wonderful hero who protects the town. However it turns out to be Lucius Lavin from this season's earlier episode "Irresistible" however with no trace of the strange Wraith drug he was using to make everyone like him. This time he has an Ancient personal shield that protects him from harm. One day he saves the village from a band of marauding thugs and becomes their hero. Obviously the Atlantis Team is not impressed but can't see the harm in letting Lucius continue his little charade. However when they are about the leave the town and head back to Atlantis another gang of thugs shows up and holds everyone hostage. However Lucius shows up and saves the day. Sheppard, Teyla and the rest of the team follow Lucius after and find him paying off the thugs, apparently he is paying them to show up so he can save the town and ensure that everyone loves him. The team tries to show the townspeople that Lucius is lying but they don't listen. The gang of thieves are actually old Genii soldiers trying to make a living, and they don't think the bribes Lucius is paying them is enough so they call in Kolya, Sheppard?s old nemesis. Lucius? shield doesn't protect him from being buried alive or drowned so he agrees to help Kolya find Sheppard. Everyone else from Sheppard?s team gets captured except him so he sets out for the Stargate to get reinforcements. However it is heavily blocked and there's no way he could take out all the guards around the gate. He then runs into Lucius who managed to escape from the village. Lucius gives Sheppard his shield and then goes and talks to the townspeople. He tells them that they have to learn to defend themselves and he cannot help them anymore. With convincing they believe him and band together to kick Kolya and the soldiers out of their town. Sheppard shows up to meet Kolya to prevent him from killing Rodney and his shield protects him from the storm of bullets Kolya?s men fire at him but then the power cell dies and he is vulnerable. Just then the villagers show up armed and mad and disarm all of Kolya's men. Sheppard and Kolya reach for their side arms at the same time but Sheppard wins and shoots Kolya in the chest, killing him. Sheppard gives Lucius back the shield (he doesn't tell him it's depleted) and thanks him for his help. The End. I think they could have come up with a more interesting way for Kolya to go out but, whatever A rather predictable episode, but fun just the same. 5/10
