I love massive space battles...
You just don't see enough of them on television due to small budgets. I hope this one and its stroyline are satisfying. |

Same here Rev, same here. the only down side is that i can see that scene being quite short, just to be able to tell the story well... and i'd rather have an extended episode if it means we get more of that^^ Someone did a count of that shot and they made out- » Click to Show Spoiler « |

One thing i'm liking is that- » Click to Show Spoiler « I know what you mean. Why, every time we enter a galactic fight, must one of our ships be destroyed? Can't we ever win? Well, except for that time with the Ori supergate and the wraith hive and the black hole. But whatever. |

Linky QUOTE Stargate: Atlantis visual effects supervisor Mark Savela reveals that the second half of the show’s season will kick off with the biggest effects sequence viewers will have ever seen on the show. “We all watched the final mix a couple of days ago, which is amazing,” he enthuses. “It was a sequence done by Image Engine, here in Vancouver.” Appearing in the second half of the mid-season two-parter, ‘Be All My Sins Remember’d’, Savela reveals that the sequence involves a space battle with more ships that we’ve ever seen before. “It’s finally the big pay off of the first half of the season,” he says. “It’s kudos to all the writers and to Martin [Gero] in particular for writing a great script and allowing us to do that sort of battle.” The sequence was so big and so complicated that for the first time since the show’s launch, the team used actual models to physically map out the action prior to creating initial CG animatics. Last season, the finale ‘First Strike’ featured an incredible minute-long visual effects sequence that everyone reckoned to be the longest ever seen in an episode of television, period. Well, ‘Be All My Sins Remember’d’ promises to top that – and then some. “It’s probably about three to three and a half minutes,” says Savela, of the monster sequence. “It’s really hard to tell, because even the full episode - which I think everyone will really love - when I watched it last time, it felt like just 15-20 minutes. It’s a fun eight minutes of the show, with the VFX intercut between the scenes that are on the planet’s surface.” 3 & 1/2 minutes??????? |

I take it that return date is for the US? This month's Sky magazine has Atlantis returning on Tuesday 15th January at 8pm. It seems a bit late to me.

Yes, that's the first (and only, incidentally) episode they have listed but without an episode title. I was expecting it on 8th January but there is nothing in the magazine and Sky usually have an article about Stargate's return. |

I was expecting it on 8th January but there is nothing in the magazine and Sky usually have an article about Stargate's return. According to sky's online tv guide HERE Atlantis returns on the 8th of January. "Spoils of war" is listed for the 15th. |

They have been airing commercials for it for the past 2 weeks. It's one of the reasons I think they pushed back BSG to March, which was originally scheduled for January. I'm not complaining though. For the very first time, they are airing the SGA series in order and pretty fast, with just time off for the holidays, more or less. |

For the longest time, they kept saying beginning in January, but immediately after the airing of Razor, it said, returning in March. They have been airing the commercials for that also. They have a commercial that showcases each character talking about what happened or will happen, and then bam, returns in March. |
