(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog) - Photos at Joe Mallozzi's blog (http://josephmallozzi.blogspot.com/2007/10/october-1-2007.html) reveal an aged Rodney McKay featured in this episode, as well as a corridor filled with sand. The executive producer has also posted behind-the-scenes video of Colonel Sheppard struggling to make his way through a sandstorm in what looks like Atlantis itself. Season Five information, also curtesy of gateworld.net ... » Click to Show Spoiler « Beware of MINOR SPOILERS for "The Last Man," the fourth season finale of Stargate Atlantis, in the report below. The fifth season of Stargate Atlantis will premiere with an episode titled "Search and Rescue," executive producer Joseph Mallozzi revealed at his blog. The episode will pick up where the fourth season leaves off. The final episode of the current season, "The Last Man," will end on a cliffhanger -- a decision made by the writers long before they knew that the show would be renewed. "Our season finale was set in stone long before the decision was made regarding the show's fifth season," Mallozzi said. "We always intended to end it on a cliffhanger -- our reasoning being that even if the show did not get picked up, we would find a way to end the story for fans of the show." In the season finale, Sheppard returns to Atlantis after a solo mission to find that the city has been abandoned. Instead of ocean, it is now surrounded by sand dunes as far as the eye can see. Details on just what is going on as Season Five opens is, of course, still a mystery! Mallozzi teased: "Who's searching and who's in need of rescue? Tune into the Season Four finale to find out." The episode title is, of course, subject to change during the production cycle. Atlantis's writers are currently busy spinning ideas for the beginning of next season, and will soon be writing the first scripts. The show goes back before cameras in February.

Trap Sheppard off world and make him think he's still free and clear, stick him in a mind bendy VR, make him think he's off in the future, in the middle of some wierd mystery, and gain intel from his reactions and responses? Or maybe find some ancient tech that will "help" Sheppard, then the RepliWier gang goes off and nabs it themselves? Or do you think this is a genuine time travel episode? (Has SGA had a time travel episode yet?)

The last Weir we saw was a Replicator and since we haven't seen anything to the contrary yet, we have to assume Human Weir is dead and that a Replicator copy was made and still survives.

We have never seen an Asuran version of Weir, only the original, who was repaired using nanites, and the clone the rogues created, which still had nanites inside (because the nanites built her, though she was technically an organic being) for regenerative purposes.

At the moment all we know is Weir is dead. We don't what the Weir, that we saw at the end of episode 11, is. She could be an organic clone or she could be a Replicator. We know the Asurans can assume the image of anyone they want, it is possible that a Replicator Weir has been created and since she said they can now go ahead with their plan without having to look over their shoulders, I wouldn't say she was an organic Weir. I can't see Asurans taking orders from a Human clone.
