Now I can see how damn famous those O-Zone guys were... A shame they split up... biggrin.gif

It went like this:

Vrei sa pleci, dar nu ma, nu ma iei,
Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma, nu ma, nu ma iei,
Chipul tau si dragostea din tei
Mi-amintesc de ochii tai.

Song name: "Dragostea din tei" - "Lime-tree Love", or something like that in translation.

How about:

Ma inec in ochii tai, la lu la la lei
Plange lumea dupa ei, la lu la la lei
Esti un inger pe pamant, despre tine cant
Si zi si noapte... La lu lei !

Same guys, same spirit... "Despre tine" - "About You"

Linden Tree I think is what it is.

I looked up the lyrics and a translation a long time ago. I wanted to learn how to sing it!

My grandfather is Italian, and he always says 'piano piano'... which if you are in choir, you know means roughly 'quiet quiet'

He is basically saying to chill out, relax, slow down. My Pop Pop is awesome!

Teh aussie speak:

Sheila = Woman
Bloke = Man
Bazza = Ben or Barry..or to a degree any male name starting with 'B'
Shazza = Sharon
Bloody oath! - Too right!
Game on moles = This means war!
Arvo' = Afternoon

And some Navajo. I don't know nearly enough to string a coherant sentence together and the Navajo goes back a few generations so bear with me:

Y???t???h! Shi ?? Mag yinishy?. = Hello! My name is Mag.

Liba = grey
Lizhin = black
Lichii = red
Ma?iitsoh = wolf

t'aala'idi = 1
naakidi = 2
taa'di = 3

Sh? = I
Ni = you

Hazh??? ?go, ?ahod? = Please, go slow 1.gif

and everyone's favourite,

El' aanigoo 'ahoot'e. = The truth is out there. laugh.gif

Well, my translation was from my head, word by word... Like for instance "tei" means lime-tree, and "dragostea" means love. biggrin.gif

You need the song to learn how to sing it. You haven't found the song anywhere? unsure.gif

Yeah, I had to listen to the song over and over to figure out the pronuciation of some words. I got most of them down, there's a few that I can't quite make out.

It's a great song to sing while driving, lots of energy! biggrin.gif

This is where I found it:

QUOTE(Janos @ Aug 1st 2006, 11:46 AM) *

Here's something cool in English. This is a completely valid sentence.

Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

biggrin.gif

http://www.linguistlist.org/issues/3/3-175.html#1

If that doesn't make sense, here's a quick summary.

To buffalo someone, is to bully them. So, "Janos buffaloes n00bs." is a sentence.

Now what happens when a buffalo does that to another buffalo? Well, you can say, "Buffalo buffalo buffalo." And that's a complete sentence.

But what if specific buffalo do it? Say the buffalo in the city of Buffalo's zoo, ie: the Buffalo buffalo?

Well, then you have, "Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." And there's a complete English sentence! biggrin.gif

Actually, the longer (and still valid!) version of that sentence is:

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo

reference and breakdown here.

my first language is welsh and here's the name of a welsh village not far from where i live. its got the longest name in britain.

"Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch "

this loosely translates into ""The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave".

its always a winner with the tourists, they always ask if you can pronounce that really long name, and it always impresses the ladies. biggrin.gif

The village was originally called llanfair pwll, but it was given the longer name as a publivity stunt to attract more tourism. it was intended to be the longest name for any train station in the uk. and here it is.

QUOTE(G.W.A (Geek With Attitude) @ Dec 3rd 2003, 10:34 PM) *

I've actually visited the place. It gets really funny when you try to pronounce that name. Talk of a tongue breaker. I tend to think that the Welsh were taking the piss when they invented that name, "Let's make some fun of those pesky foreigners, boyo..."

It actually wasn't created by the welsh at all but by the english people who came into the country
and they did it too attract tourists by making it the world largest town name however soon after they named it that they discovered a place in (I believe it's new zealand) with a larger name.

also proununcation of words is different in south wales as opposed to north wales
also xayeidemon welsh predates latin by over 3000 years and is one of the oldest lagugages in europe
also in welsh there is familiar and unfamiliar speaking to someone who you don't know in the familiar is very rude
Sut da chi (how are you)unfamiliar
sut mae (how are you)familiar
also there are words which cannot be directly translated like
cariad the nearest translation being loved one or beloved however this wouldn't be used in a sentence it is a name
like I would call my father cariad or my sister or lover.

I'm not sure what langugage this is but I do know what it means

Sues khabush tittymamaha sareebbabanche.
I know that isn't how its spelt.
translated it means you son of a pigs bastard.
