Fresh from Gateworld:
The first plot information has arrived for "The Siege," a two-part episode that may likely serve as Stargate Atlantis' first season finale. Written by SG-1's Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, and directed by Martin Wood, the episodes will go before cameras in late September. Beware of big spoilers in the report below! The Atlantis base has successfully made contact with Earth, and a Z.P.M. power source discovered in Egypt allows Stargate Command to establish a wormhole to the Pegasus Galaxy. And it's just in the nick of time, as three Wraith hive ships are approaching the vulnerable city of the Ancients. The Atlantis team sends the S.G.C. detailed specs on the city and the hive ships, and General Hammond orders military inforcements to go through the gate to support the defense of the city. They are led by Colonel Matthew Everett, a 40-year-old Marine who carries a commanding presence along with orders from Hammond that he assume command of Atlantis -- much to the surprise of Dr. Weir and her team. Colonel Everett orders Weir to deactivate the self-destruct mechanism that is now counting down to prevent the city from falling into Wraith hands. Her expedition personnel, who have since relocated to a Pegasus Alpha Site, are recalled. Major Sheppard is pessimistic that they can do anything to stop the hive ships, but Everett's plan is bold: Earth's new battle cruiser, the Daedalus, is en route. With the Z.P.M. boosting the ships engines, it should arrive within four days. Dr. Weir, meanwhile, defies Everett's orders and takes matters into her own hands to defend the base and her people. Colonel Everett may become a recurring character on the series. "The Siege" will also include guest characters Major Ferrell and Captain Radner (two Marines under Everett's command), and will see the return of David Nykl as Dr. Zelenka. Stay tuned to GateWorld for more updates! Sounds like a VERY promising Episode to me, Deadalus, ZPM Powered BC303, YAY! |

I hope they intro the Daedalus craft in SG1. If it can make it to the Pegasus galaxy in 4 days, that must mean the Prometheus should have the same upgrades.
Holy crap this episode sounds so killer |

Unless the Asgard gave us a hyperdrive for Prometheus, the nit hasnt. The hyperdrive on the other ship is powered by a full Z.P.M, so its like when the replicators upgrade a ship, travels real fast, so it could also power the shields and weapons making the ship unstopable. One we destroy the Wraith ships, put the Z.P.M in Atlantis, it wont have lost hardly any power. Then it can power Atlantis for maybe a year.

looks like a good episode can't wait to see the new earth battle cruiser!
should be a lot better then the prometheous and maybe a bit better looking than it as well. But four days, why do i get the feeling that it's just going to arive as the wriath are about to overrun atlantas and save the day. the writers better not have written it that way or we will all expect it and spiol the fun of the new ship. |

This episode looks very promising indeed. Is this new ship apart of the x-303 class? Or is it a new type? Can't wait to find out. Hope for some more cameo appearences of SG1 personel.

Looks like a very promising episode, although I never seem to get full enjoyment out of episodes with the Prometheus in them. F302s are bad enough as it is, I just hope the Deadalus is a more credible ship than the Prometheus... and that the Prometheus gets destroyed and the BC303 class scrapped in favour of the more credible class.

Now this sounds like a season ending! Lets hope it delivers. Although how they would have detailed schematics of the hive ships is beyond me!

The episode "Underground" with the Genii. Remember they got that PDA with the encrypted Wraith info? All they had been able to decrypt in that episode was how many there were in the Pegasus galaxy, an estimated 60. But it stands to reason that information from their computer core would contain detailed specifications regarding their technology. |

No, Hammond is in control of the Earth Defense department. The SGC falls under his jurisdiction. Jack wouldn't have the authority to make such an order, but Hammond would. |

Big difference is that we didn't have huge honkin space guns and ships back then. Also, the Gou'ald only wanted to enslave us. The Wraith want to eat us. They're just a weeeeeee bit worse. This post has been edited by Natoma: Sep 14th 2004, 5:31 PM |

Now that I think about it. If the wepons and shields are powered by a Z.P.M, then this new ship would destroy many Asgard motherships and remain untouched.Sure, the Z.P.M will be used for Atlanits after the Wraith are driven off, but just imagine the possibilities.
Maybe the new ship, the Deudelas(spelling not sure), is the ship the Goa'uld in 'Nightwalkers' were building that I complain about not being finished. That woul be very cool. Unless the Air Force has figured out ways to build a X-303 in 2 years and have Thor upgrade it. |

Agreed! A Z.P.M. power source found in Egypt...why would something like that be there? Yes, I'm keeping in mind that they didn't say Z.P.M. exactly, but a "Z.P.M. power source" - so what's up?! Guess we'll have to wait and see...sounds awe inspiring. This post has been edited by Aquila: Sep 14th 2004, 7:37 PM |

Well, this has certainly piqued my interest, it seems a lot is going to transpire over the course of the next half of the season.
Why do I get the feeling there will be some kind of "accident" and the Daedalus will be stranded, and Atlantis left to it's own devices. Either way, this has the potential to be as gripping and action packed as "The Lost City". Let's hope they can pull it off folks. |

A new battlecruiser powered by a ZPM power source, this sounds way too cool,I doubt it would be the unfinished ship from Nightwalkers,I assume a battlecruiser will have a compliment of F-302's shields and weapons and be the size of Prometheus even if it looks different.I wonder if the F-302's will target the core of the hive ships in the same way they took out Anubis's superweapon in Fallen.
I remember another member quoting RDA has simply refused to undertake anymore guest roles in Atlantis so if they even bother to explain General Hammond in charge of the SGC they could probably use the excuse that he was on leave or offworld assignment etc at the time. As far as cameo appearances from other SG-1 characters,I wouldn't mind betting that if SG-1 finishes at end of season 8,we may see them as regulars or guest actors but if they have their own show (possible season 9 rumoured) then I don't think we will see them. It is too mind boggling to think where it could go from here but I'm looking forward to seeing what pans out. |

The OneLoneFan normally wouldn't put his 2 cents in but there are some things worth pointing out. Please note that OneLoneFan has thought this through and knowing how our beloved government work...He wouldn't be suprized. Boys and Girls it saddens OneLoneFan to say this....but the new ship will most likely look like the Prometheus. Reason OneLoneFan says this is because our government would never build just one battlecruiser to defend earth. Like all black ops projects they would have ordered at least 5-10 of them. The 2nd ship most likely began construction when the Prometheus was half was finished, that way they can continually launch them over the corse of a year or so. All OneLoneFan askes is that you think about this.

Oh, man I want to see some F-302, Wraith Dart action.
Maybe, they have different divisions or companies working on the different classes of battleships and it took longer for a second "company" to finish the Daedalus because it's a better more advanced class of battleship. And the first company is still working on more 303 class ships. Just a thought though. This post has been edited by sg69leader: Sep 16th 2004, 8:24 PM |
