| SyFy Replaces Friday Programming with Wrestling |
Starting in October, Syfy will begin airing WWE's Friday Night Smackdown in place of long-running Friday night drama series, such as Stargate Universe and Sanctuary. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "there's nothing more sci-fi than ... competitive wrestling." We believe that this marks the beginning of the end for the troubled network, which rebranded itself as "SyFy" last year. By distancing itself from its science fiction roots, it seems to have lost its identity. | |  |

| Season Five Given the Green Light by Sci-Fi |
From a report in Variety: The Sci Fi Channel has given a fifth-season renewal to "Stargate Atlantis," commissioning 20 fresh episodes. " 'Atlantis' truly came out from under the shadow of its sister series this year and proved that it's a hit in its own right," said Sci Fi's Mark Stern, exec veep of original programming. | Stargate to Resume April 6 on Sci Fi Channel |
According to various reports, the Sci Fi Channel will resume new episodes of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis on April 6th. There will be 10 new episodes of each show. Click below to view a teaser for SG-1.
