I always liked it, since the first time I saw it. Especially their reactions and mannerisms when the team was yelling at each other. Do SG1 ever go back to places like this to check the equipment they left??

Yeah I guess another "tweam" would go back from time to time
I watched this recently again and really enjoyed it this time around. To see that no matter how different beings are, and lack complete verbal communication, yet were able to show similar behaviour to us humans. |

Yes but a part of me, and especially given where I grew up, things that we can be a little too laid back and casual at times. I for one like the "down to business" attitude of the Tok'ra. The fate of the galaxy is at state, not whether Jack's damn back is playing up or not.

Yes, their attitude is certainly not to beat about the bush. But then it's also nice to get the episodes that are a little less about saving the world, again, and more just about how the team handles unusual situations - like this one. Overall a pretty good episode I thought - if anyone cares for my $0.02!

I wonder what those aliens do all day. Just listen to music? They don't seem to be advancing technologically.

the one good thing about this ep was that we got to see another intelligent species out there, besides just the few that we keep running into. not that i'm saying we should go overboard star trek style and meet "new civilizations" every ep, but it's more realistic if we have a few new ones thrown in once in a while.

This may have been asked already... but were those guy's naked or not? And was it simply happenstance that there were no women?

They were not naked...kind of. Their body paint formed a kind of layer of clothing. As far as women, there may have been some but since their physiology is different, it may be hard to distinguish between them. |

True. For all we know, they might reproduce by budding or something.

Indeed, and in fact it's even possible that the race only has one sex, so the distinction between men and women would then be impossible. |

I can understand why some people would find this episode boring. Not much really happens in it.
But personally, this is one of my favourites. It was a nice counterpoint to the story arc heavy episodes we've had over the past episodes. It's also harder sci-fi. It's not about the usual TV scifi cliches of running around in ships and blowing up the ships of aliens with bumpy foreheads. It was about exploring and studying a truly alien species. Yes, I know that the aliens were wearing body suits with painfully obvious zippers, but the way they acted, really made them seem more alien that most of the aliens we see on popular scifi. It made SG1 look like better explorers than Enterprise could ever hope to do in their wildest dreams. It was good to see the use of technology like the UAV and proper medical examination like ultrasounds. No technobabble in this episode. Though, I do thing that the SGC needs to invest in some kind of roving vehicle. It could have made the trip between the village and the gate much easier. I also liked the score. |

My fave part of this episode is when Daniel sneezes and he goes "It's just a sneeze, it's nothing to worry about" and then one of the aliens falls down and he goes, "or maybe not."
LOL! I love how the aliens are really curious, like the one that dragged back the crashed UAV, and I loved it when Daniel goes flying around their dwelling, pretending to be a UAV, the big kid. |
