I liked the part where Eben asked, "Did it occur to you that you were passed over for promotion so many times because you are a complete moron?"

And then later, "I guess not."

Being the car and race fan that I am, I got a kick out of this episode. The commentary and commericals by the network of the planet I can do without. I just thought it was over the top. I get the general impression that Amanda Tapping must be a gearhead and race fan. Maybe it's me but I noticed that she really seemed to get into this episode.

Murray makes a return again. laugh.gif I love it when they draw references to past episodes. Truly enjoyable.

Hmm, I really don't know what to think of this ep. Those two news guys that kept popping up really overstayed their welcome. They got really annoying; I wish the writers would've kept their presence to a minimum. That was really the only thing that I didn't like about this ep.

As for the characters, Carter and Teal'c got the most screentime, while Jack and Danny boy had about 10-15 mins air time. The race itself wasn't much of a race since everyone kept bombing out. The special effects were really good though. It's a shame the show doesn't get much recognition for it.

Looks like those ion engines could really be a boost to the F-302. If we had did get that engine upgrade, we could run circles around the DGs. There's one thing I didn't catch though. What did the aliens(forgot their names) want in return for an ion engine?

war Jack O'Neill, war sg-1 missions, war daniel jackson, Dave in sa-town OUT.

I believe they are getting a stargate in return for the ion engine. I liked the episode but I also think like most everyone else that the announcers were over the top. It's kinda cool how the two races live together and how u have humans, warricks race (can't remeber their name), and the cross between the two. I bet we see these guys again in season 8.

Just remebered the name of Warricks race the Cerakins or however its spelled.

I was histerical over that one.

And the tried and true use of the name "Murray" by Teal'c as an undercover name.

LOL!! How many times has he used that name? Funny stuff.

Overall, the ep had ALOT of special effects which made it cool. Grade: A.

Major Rocks out.

BTW: Is it just me, or did Sam act more....perky....in this one? I think Amanda's personality has finally taken over the character. And that's a good thing.....WOWZA!!! w00t.gif w00t.gif

I honestly think she is a gearhead (Amanda Tapping) and this episode may have been developed for her to highlight such an interest. You notice at the beginning of the episode Carter walks in carrying a motor cycle helmet and wearing some leather gear that bikers wear. I'm under the impression that she did not ride a Harley type bike to base but rather something within the lines of a Ninja. ohmy.gif

When I saw that this episode had more of Carter and Teal'c, I recalled something that Chris Judge mention in which he admits he has tremendously on-screen chemistry with Amanda.

Oooookkkkk!.......will somebody please tell me WHAT was up with those announcers?!! i'm not sure, but i think that was purposely cheezy and annoying! i really think the writers got a kick out of that , it sounds like something they'd do in a spoof movie or something.

Amanda really got into this episode! great on screen chemistry, i kinda liked the part when when teal'c didn't want to go on to the diplomatic relations meeting and told jack that sam asked him to stay behind, and he didn't want to disappoint her! laugh.gif

Not to be picky, but his name was Eamon. It's not a big deal, but I just thought I would point it out. I believe it was Patrick Currie, who, incedentely, played "Fifth" in the episode "Unnatural Selection."

While we are talking about actors, the actor who plays Warrick, Alex Zahara, has be on SG1 several times before, playing multiple roles:

"Eggar" "Metamorphosis" 616
"Shy One" in "Beast of Burden" 507
"Alien Leader & Alien #1" in "Foothold" 314
"Michael" in "1969" 221
"Xe'ls" in "Spirits" 213

Interestingly, He didn't play "Warrick" in "Forsaken", though.

Okay, you're wrong. If you click on thecredits link, you'll see that Warrick is played by Dion Johnstone. I don't know if he played Warrick in Forsaken, though.

Now Alex Zah-whoever might've played these characaters, but not the guy who played Warrick in this episode. I actually created a post in the nitpick section, talking about this paticular guest star, and Aesir, (bless him) cleared some things up. Actor guy who plays Warrick (Dion) = Chaka, Lt. Tyler from Fitfth Man, as well as others..

aww everyone is always so nitpicky on these boards smile.gif

I thought this was a decent episode, I didnt really see anything wrong with it. The commentator people I thought were a nice touch, sure they were cheesy but whats wrong with that?. They are perfectly plausible and I chuckled a few times at thier adverts and such biggrin.gif

Anyway, a nice episode, and different too, different is good smile.gif

Actually...hmm. Dion Johnstone did play Warrick in Forsaken, but I believe he's said in an interview that he was busy elsewhere and unable to come back and play Chaka or Warrick in the last two episodes. According to the credits for Space Race on
SciFi.com, Alex Zahara played Warrick and Patrick Currie (from Unnatural Selection) played Eamon. (I'd go check the actual credits on the recording, but I haven't had enough coffee yet.) They also played Iron Shirt and Chaka, respectively, in last week's Enemy Mine. Ouch...that's a lot of makeup! ph34r.gif

I liked this one, although I could have done without the "commercials". Nice work on the part of the VFX gang. I wish they'd shown Carter on the motorcycle, though. wink.gif

Cheers,
mo

Just watched it again. I would have traded some of the the announcers' time for the deleted scene that's posted on SciFi (why did they take that out? it was good!), but it was still fun!

Wow, awesome board! First post here. smile.gif

My favorite moment in the episode was Teal'c identifing himself as Murray to the Tekcon receptionist. That just put me on the floor. Great reference to Point of No Return and Wormhole Extreme.

So Sam told Daniel at the end of the episode that she'll kick butt next year. Wonder if we'll see Space Race II in Season 8.

The TV announcer parts didn't do much for me.
