Nooooo Grodin!

sigh.. I hope they introduce another person. Atlantis is much more interesting when there's a cast of semi-regulars who show up from time to time. To me, the show feels more "knit" that way. just my opinion.

hehe, the guy with the ponytail... i hate him so much but it's always nice to have someone like that smile.gif

i already can't wait for next season.

Great ep and i so cant wait for the the rest of it....Its gonna be painful waiting

I was actually contemplating not watching it till I got both parts so I could watch them both together in one go and save myself the pain of having to wait for the next ep but the temptation really got to me so i gave up tongue.gif

Now i wonder how they're gonna destroy the other 2 hive ships.... I dont think they will loose Atlantis (i havent read any of the spoilers yet)

This episode was filled with suspense. I can't wait for Part 2. Part 1 was only about blah blah blah though it was still good, I think all the action will be in Part 2. I just hope in part 2 there won't be a cliffhanger

I thought that Earth would contact Atlantis on Part 1, but I guess I was wrong. Weir's speech was great and with the music along with the "Virus Standby" it was sad. Then came Sheppard as he shot the Wraith, hahahaha nicely done.

I'm kinda happy thingie died, I mean I'm not sure if thats an english actor or not but his accent and such seemed kinda faked at least to me.

Also, I knew he would call the wraith bob. I thought since the other one was called Steve he would naturally pick a rather plain name that you usually use for that kinda thing.. and I thought bob would be it. I was right!.

But bah, this topic annoys me a bit, I mean saying the spoiled people seem to think something is going to happen is more or less saying it will. If you put it in another way as just speculation then its not so bad.

Agreed, good episode and cant wait for the 2nd part.. although i will have to wait several weeks for SG1 finale first.

However can people please stop putting in spoilers, this topic is for discussion on THIS episode and not what you've read happens in the next episode/2nd part.

If you have to use spoilers please use the provided tags.

I'm sure several others have read comments about the 2nd part which has kinda ruined it for them. If people want spoilers they go to the spoiler forum.. people who dont, try and take great care to avoid them so please be considerate to other people and post spoilers in the appropriate places. I was in no doubt that some one would die in the satellite but I was convinced it was that other guy. Love Atlantis for giving it all visual effects and action.

I wonder how outsider actions will have an effect on Atlantis if any? :

I wonder didn't they bring bugspray with them to Atlantis ??? smile.gif hehe

Nice episode, looking forward to 2nd part.

Perhaps the weapons platform had a teleporter to have anyone onboard if destroyed ?

When I come in here to read the viewer discussion I don't want to read anything from you f***ing wankers who spill spoiler after spoiler into this thread. Is it so f***ing hard to keep to the subject off the goddamn thread? If you losers want to bitch about stargate until your dicks fall off, fine, but don't say s*** about spoilers here. You got that? I want to watch the f***ing show, without knowing how it'll end. So shut the f*** up.

This episode kicked ass as usual. Atlantis really went way beyond my expectations. Darker than SG-1 and hell of alot more realistic. Good to see a character who doesn't bitch about the rights off people who want to kill him.

has anyone noticed how similar this is to season 1 of SG-1.. first episodes of the season is meeting the enemy then various missions and at the end of the season they come and attack them at their main base..

hope the other seasons wont be the same... smile.gif

yeah i think they should have had the earth team come through the stargate and the colonel (is that how u spell it?) tell wier that he's been sent to take over then it goes into the credits...that be a better ending. I suppose if they do that with the next episode then the beginning credits it'll be alright

stupid movie channel though had to go against the flow, couldn't just do it with everyone else so that sg1 would be coordinated with atlantis...o well at least the episodes are out there so it's all good i suppose

Hey, Im new But i've been watching the Atlantis forum since the beginning of the series and i just said "what the heck.. make an Account!" - felt like mentioning.

Grodin was one of those people who you didnt really care about, but was good to be around! I cant belive they killed him off like that, I just hope that he turns up in the second series with a silly story. Example = The Satalite had a fail safe system for those on board and transported him to the nearby planet outpost.

Im just Wishing unsure.gif

But didnt McKay say at the start "the satalite powers up and could whipe out all 3 ships in one shot" ?! huh.gif how come that didnt happen?

And im Guessing for the finale some officer with a chip on his soldier is going to try and take over Atlantis, someone like Maybourne, well hes OK now but at the start when people first met him.... hmmmm

i dont think it could of destroyed all 3 ships in one go tho... unless they all lined up next to each other in direct line with the weapon..

Shame about the malfunction tho... would of been nice to see more of it... cos at the mo we have hardly seen any ancient weapons except the atlantis shields, the missiles on earth and the puddle jumper and our latest weapon.. the satelite beam weapon... hope they find more later on...

Shouldn't they have done periodic scans of the city. I just don't understand how they can be so ignorant... How can they miss Teyla's wraith sense.

And why didn't that wraith attack anyone last episode?

Apart from those two comments, this episode is great (as usual). Keep em coming

Also How come they didnt have the sensors up and running? surely being in a Huge city, Under Threat, Being millitary and everything that they would think of Enemy operatives, Since the Acsended Ancient on that planet was detected by the system why didnt they keep it up.... Why didnt the City detect an Enemy life form, Wraith for crying out loud, and warn them..... HMMMMMM!

the reason they didnt have the sensors scanning the whole of atlantis is because that sensors needed a lot of power to run so they decided to narrow the scanning range and target it at the gate so if a wraith comes through they would no..

For a finale (part 1), it was disappointing. I don't see how the whole satellite-story which resulted in the destruction of one mothership was necessary at all. It just was a filler. Nothing changed. And now they have to wrap the essential plot into one episode.

Besides, adults should be able to plan ahead and take responsibility! I can't take that episode seriously. Why do they come up with the essential defense plan (the satellite) just 2 days before the Wraith arrive? They had months. Cheap tv show suspense. And hey, the security risk which Atlantis poses a] to earth, b] as a provider of the Ancient database, they begin to think about how to destroy the city two days before the Wraith come!? That virus which purges the memory should have been thought of a long time ago. And if they had just dealt with the issue early enough, I'm sure they could have found a way to backup all of the database. On some Ancient data crystal lying around.

Now seriously, if someone told me he wanted a copy of MY entire digital archives, it would take days to organize it! And Zelenka (sp?), who has other things to do, can spontaneously back the database up in no time, just when Dr Weir feels like it? If someone comes to me with that kind of thing, I tend to tell him "You should have raised that idea a bit earlier! In what a lunatic world do you live? The tech guys can do magic, but I don't have to understand a bit of it, eh?"

QUOTE
They should set a trap for the wraith - trick the wraith into thinking the alpha site is at that planet where that hot ancient chick is on and she'll blast the crap outa them... these wrath have supposedly been traveling for a long time so they wouldn't know about that planet's defenses...

Well the Wraith did know about the planet and how their ships got destroyed there, so they probably wouldn't go there. They should evacuate to the planet with the EM field.

even though i have read the spoilers for the next ep...it is disappointing to hear about what happens in the next ep in this thread.
i mean, we're meant to have that cliffhanger and now it sorta dampens it because someone has written that Atlantis gets help.
that's unfair for other people reviewing the ep in this ep.

i kinda thought this ep was slow...it was interesting though and i was sad groden (i think thats his name) died.
i actually quite liked him.

Koki, did you not watch the ep?
she started to sense the wraith more...but she thought it was because she knew they were coming...but they figured out that she started sensing the wraith when the dart came along.
so she did sense the wraith...she just didn't realise it was in atlantis

I'd juts like to point to Arcady's post at the first page.

Notice the last line in the brackets? That means, if you don't want to read anything about what happens, don't read the thread. After all, its impossible to discuss anything without saying what happened in the episode.

about planning ahead to destroy atlantis...

they had the self destruct in place and they thought it was sufficient .. it was until teyla told them that the wraith knew about earth that they had to make a more through job of it...

thats why they came up with the virus only 2days before....

and about detecting the wraith in the city: please watch the episode more clearly...
it was explained in the episode..

: teyla thought she got super powerful sense where she could detect wraith from light years away....

as she wasn;t in atlantis when the wraith crash landed... she didn;t know the difference....

until bates was taken out they didn;t want to waste power scanning the city every hour or so.. doesn;t make sense as they thought the dart which scan them in the first place was an unmanned dart...
