Not a bad episode, more humorous than anything else. Which is not a bad thing. Gotta say I like Mkay, even though everyone thinks he's an A-hole... Was it a coincidence or did the new Sg-1 episode and the new Atlantis episode have similar plots...you know scary floating fog...you see from its point of view... I dunno. Still want to see where this series goes. For some reason the theme song reminded me of Seaquest...but I don't know why...hmm (no sarcasm)

It's kind of cool how SG-1 and Atlantis dealed with similar problems the same week. I thought it was cheap at first but now I realize it's brilliant. We have an hour of SG-1 dealing with an ascended Anubis and then we see an hour of the Atlantis crew dealing with the being Ancients were studying to figure out how to ascend! Both shows compliment each other!

I didn't realize the connection until you pointed it out there. I guess it's true.

Yes my Dad mentioned it looked like Anubis and I just laughed. Anyway Mckay is great. "Dead man talkin.", "We're all gonna be dead, or shall I say you are because I'll already be dead" (something like that)

Yea, they compliment eachother...in that way, but not once in either new episode did SG command say anything about how they thought the Atlantis team may be faring. Or the Atlantis team wondering about SG command. Although Shepperd does talk about various things back on Earth this episode.

Hah Hah! I loved the part where McKay just passed out and Sheppard was thinking 'yup, he fainted. What a weakling' I do like this McKay/Sheppard interaction.
But what about the father of the Thosian (can't spell or say it) boy said something like "nothing matters but my love for you" or some thing. I mean was that not one of the cheesiest lines you have ever heard. They could of at least come up with something else like "Nothing else matters but you. You are my only son and I love you."
Oh well, just some quirk that I have with that big guy.

As I said in the SG-1 803 Discussion, I think Anubis/Ghost's vision was done the exact same way.

I like how we know now that the Ancients have transports and how they isolate a lab section without being separate from the city.

[EDIT]BTW, I thought McKay was hillarious in this episode and how they tested the shield, lol![/EDIT]

I just saw the episode today, as far as Stargate goes, this one rates in the average...just like SG-1.

One thing I noticed was the apparent humor that the episode had, as well as the knowledge that was gained from it.

1. The entity shown on this episode is an entity that has been trapped for who knows how long...the purpose being experimentation/observation by the Ancients...and early form of "ascending" as we know it. It appears that the Ancients were even then trying to figure it out. We know of course they finally did, but did the Ancients of Atlantis?

2. The boy's father and apparently the rest of the Athosians know how to speak (to some degree) the Ancients tongue, as is seen in this episode. However, they call the Ancients, "The Ancestors." This proves that colonization of these worlds by the Ancients did occur, it would seem that the Ancients created the Stargates to make colonies of their race (on a lesser degree of technology) on different planets...as was hinted on the last episode by the hologram.

3. The SG-A team seems to have been able to synthesis a blood transfusion of some sort to let the other members of the team to access the Ancients tech to some degree. As was demonstrated by Mckay in this episode by the shielding devise he wore. It was also hinted in this episode that through this gene indose, that the same "controlling with ones mind" results.

It should be intresting to see this show develop. I noticed this time the opening music to SG-A, and approve of it. Different, but hey, one can't conform always to everyones wants. I for one liked the opening sequence alot. So, here's to SG-A!! w00t.gif

They've got their own problems to worry about. When the turtle broach fell off McKay I nearly fell on the ground laughing. That was so damn funny! The expression on his face. McKay for Prime Minister of Canada! Couldn't be worse than what's already there.

Ya I posted on the SG-1 forum about the similarities in the plots. I also agree that Atlantis show was a lot better than the SG-1 today. I am loving the comedy and smart comments they have on Atlantis. I still think Dr Weir seems like a stuck up BIATCH. She just always looks hateful.

The transport rings within the city is kickass!! I wish I had those in my house. Atlantis is gonna have to utilize every alien device they find...especially the weapons. Eventually they are going to run out of bullets for their guns and will be screwed unless they have other weapons.....or start up a munition factory there in the city making the bullets, guns, etc.

Are you sure it was transport rings? It seemed to act more like the Asgard transporter, but that's just me.

Well it sounded like transport rings whenever they activated it... that zoon zoon zoon sound... ya it may not be rings...maybe its something more advanced than that.... but we have no idea how the gou'ld came across the rings maybe they stole them from the ancients...
The writers might also not completely decided what kind of transport it is considering they didnt show the inside of it while it beamed them away.

Either way it was cool as hell cool.gif

The Ancients used transport rings in the Milky Way. It did sound like transport rings. It's a more advanced version like everything in Atlantis.

It's kind of cool how they keep discovering tech. Hey, you know how we've been using the stairs all the time? Seems those aren't really closets. They're transporters that can take you to any part of the city.

I hope things keep going that way. I hope two years from now when Atlantis is the most watched show in the history of television they're still finding things like that.

I agree......this was a WAY better episode than SG-1.....and instead of having one O'Neil, we have like 3.....They are hillarious! Weir needs to lighten up and stop actin like she does.....I really cant stand her...Like how rude she is to the Athosians.....anyways...hopefully she will change her attitude all together

And I thought that what the boys dad said to him was short and sweet IMHO whistling.gif

I can't wait til next week!!! biggrin.gif

Ya the Special effects of that scene was really good. I think we are going to have a lot of kickass special effects on Atlantis because they do have a bigger budget to fund SGI

Even though they were advanced enough to team up with the Ancients to fight the Goa'uld, the Asgard likely got a lot of their tech by analyzing the information they extracted from the Ancient repository so a lot of tech in Atlantis might look similar to Asgard tech.

When they introduced her character on SG1 they said she speaked a bunch of languages. Maybe she's a quick study.

McKay: Size doesn't matter.
Shep: That's a myth.

I thought that the episode was very good and Atlantis is getting on it feet very well. Everyone that said Atlantis was gonna be crap was wrong *I am of course simply referring to the first 3 eps but they are definitely good!* Can't wait for the next few episodes....
AND McKay is funny....i like the way he encorporates humour into Atlantis!
