QUOTE(Dafmeister @ Nov 16th 2005, 9:12 PM) This was a good episode. It confused me as to how those explosives managed to damage the Jumper though, I though they more robust than that. The Wraith that appeared in the city was just sinister. I hope that he appears more often as we need a major Wraith character. Teyla is pretty handy with those sticks, I wouldnt like to be on the recieving end of those. Did I hear McKay right when he said "Who do you think I am, McGuyver"? Huh, i didn't notice that...... but it would make sense... I know what the government, of that planet, did to the prisoners was immoral but i thought was a bit weird was that Sherpard would have saved the criminals over the people in the city, the majority of whom are probably innocent. ^^^ I think someone fancies ronan... Well not all the prisoners on that island were in fact criminals. The government did not want the wraith to come and get the city people so they wrongly accused innocent people with little or not times to those in power and put them on the island as meals for the wraith.

Once again David Hewlett makes me laugh the most out of all the characters. The 2 quotes that had me in stitches we definately the,
"What am I, MacGyver? Fix it with what?" and "How ironic, then, to have been shot down by the cast of "Braveheart." i think the 'MacGyver' line was an ad-lib on the behalf of David. i'm only guessing, but it would be great if it was! And Ronan kicked some ass in this ep. He looks a lot better with his hair tied back. And i KNEW i recognised Torrell. He was played by Christian Bocher who had been in 2 episodes of 'Stargate SG:1" before... "Stargate SG-1" playing "Raymond 'Ray' Gunne/Dr. Levant" in episode: "Wormhole X-Treme!" (episode # 5.12) 8 September 2001 "Stargate SG-1" playing "Major Newman" in episode: "Shades of Grey" (episode # 3.18) 11 February 2000 AND i recognised the Magistrate. He was played by Alan C Peterson who was in 'Stargate SG:1" too. He played Canon in the episode: "Demons" (episode # 3.8). The one where they drowned Teal'c like at the witch trials. (info thanks to IMDB.com) Part of me thinks 'come on, don't use the same actors in different roles.' but also, part of me likes to spot the actors and try and remember which episode they were in.Especially when they look so different. Its like a great big test!!!! But I loved this episode, the action was great and that Eldon guy was sweet. |

All of the scenes invlving the Jumper set would have been filmed together. The exterior shots could have been filmed days later/before and the make-up deptartment simply make an error. |

Yes the JP that is outside the studio is something like only 2/3 the size of the one they use to film inside shots. So as Daf says all inside shots are done in the much bigger PJ in the studio and than they do the outside stuff on another day on scene. So the director of the continuity did not earn her pay that day.

They said that the laws were getting tougher so that more people would get sent to the island, there is nothing to say that the people on the island werent criminals. |

I never really made an opinion of liking her or not until this ep. I just didn't think she was a good leader or a bad one. In this episode i made my opinion. Causing genocide is clearly in a sign of a terrible leader. Besides the people she let go were criminals. They just lowered the number of murders needed to to be sent there. QUOTE ELDON: Once only the worst of the worst was sent here, but the punishment proved to be such a successful deterrent that crime rates in Olesia plummeted, which meant fewer and fewer prisoners. TEYLA: Less food for the Wraith. ELDON: Exactly. SHEPPARD: So they lowered the bar. If Weir wanted to save the innocents arrested how about not sending the Wraith to city? Besides has Spock "It is logical. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." |

QUOTE Once again David Hewlett makes me laugh the most out of all the characters. You got that right, he is awfully funny. I am also very fond of Elizabeth Weir, she is very attractive. It was a rather good episode, it addressed the issue of the death penalty aswell, if only a little snippett. Quotes to remember: 'Shot down by the Cast of Braveheart' and 'Who do I look like? MacGyver?' |

QUOTE(wack @ Nov 20th 2005, 10:24 AM) Causing genocide is clearly in a sign of a terrible leader. It can also be seen as saving your own people at all cost. Sacrificing a whole planet to save just four people is bad but if she didnt there would be no more Stargate: Atlantis as Sheppard, Teyla, McKay and Ronan would be dead. |

I thought that this EP was great for showing the different sides of McKay's character, when it was his life in the balance he was, well he was Rodeny but when Torrell threatens the team's lives he dives straight into hero mode and tries to protect them. I think Sheppard really under-estimates Rodeny's strength of character (come to think of it so does Rodeny
I thought it was a bit dodgy at the start. No way is Eldon a scientist or a killer. *and since when do Wraith allow Humans to advance so far, even if they do get free meals Then the magistrates face at the end PRICELESS!!!!!!(although it's a shame about any innocents caught up in the cross fire |

and since when do Wraith allow Humans to advance so far, even if they do get free meals It is unlikely the inhabitants of that planet were at a level where they could be a threat to the Wraith. If they had ever reached that level, it is likely they would be wiped out. |

The gum shields the actors that play the wraith wear must make things very difficult especially talking. did anyone less notice the bit stream of spit that came out of the wraiths mouth when he was speaking.

The actors' voices are altered anyway so I doubt it makes much of a difference.

This episode was quite crafty and intelligent in the way it was written but it did annoy me...but i guess after 4 times watching something anyone would get annoyed.
Mckay was quite funny but his arrogance really got to me and the act he puts on is getting a little old. But he does make the show a little more interesting and adds humour. The effects at the start of the episode were quite good as they usually are with Puddle Jumper scenes. The leader of the planet was a complete pompass ass...i hate people like that who talk like they are better than everyone else and have such a high attitude about themselves. Ronan is such a good addition to the group and you can see why...he is total cuteness! He has such nice skin, so smooth and clear, he is just such a good thing to look at, and i could do that all day. That Eldon dude, he was a cutie too, in a gooky kinda way and he irritated me a little but not ina bad way...he was just that scientist type of dude he was unsure of how to interact with other people. I have to wonder whether it was the way the actor actually talked or whether it was put on. And that drop of drool which the wraith dropped...reminds me of my old english teacher he used to drool so much we all tried to keep away from him. Weir should have been a little more worried and a bit more forceful, i know she was at the end but she should have gone to the island while cloaked and looked for them. |

I really loved this episode. Why in hell did it get three stars?
Sheppard trying to be macho and break the big stick - priceless. Also, loved the whole cultured-Wraith thingy, showing that they're not all the same. Weir's attitude of "Okay then, screw you!" towards the unmoralistic ways of the mainland people was unlike her, but really cool. I hope she gets more of this ruthless attitude, it's very interesting to have such a character as a leader. Ronan also with the whole first chance he gets with the knife thing was also quite shocking, but refreshing. More eps like this please! Just my $0.02. |
