I don't think most do hate daniel, in fact most of the people I know of love daniel and hate jonas. And on a side note...how is this a question or concern about the forums? |

I admit, this is't exactly about the fourms but i didn't want to start a new thread.
I can't get into the live chat room from college. Do you know why? |

Okay, lately I've been hearing that attatching images is wasting
Arcady's bandwith. So now I'm trying to avoid attatching images, rather, I'm trying to find my images online rather than taking screen captures and display the images with the [*IMG][*/IMG] key tag. Firstly does posting images this way still use up Arcady's bandwith? Next, as you may know; finding images of Stargate SG1 online is no easy task, especially when I'm trying to find a pic of a remote scene (usually for nitpicking purposes). So I'm now using www.thalassg1.com.br for my pics; as they have thousands and thousands of them. My only problem with doing this is that the image shows up as really big on the forums and you have to scroll over a bit to see it all. Now this is the only site that I've visited that I deem worthy for finding screen captures of Stargate; so really this is my only other option as to either not posting images at all or doing my own screen captures again. So is there a concrete rule against the size of an online-acquired picture? Here's the size of the pics: EDIT: Ares: Yeah, it might not work is I got that one from a different link off that sight that requires me to log in (I just figured that out just now one works: I'm just asking now; because I don't want to start posting these size of pics all over the place and get in trouble from a Mod for doing it. No, it doesn't. Arcady isn't hosting the pic, which is why there is no limit on the size when doing it this way. For your second question, I'm not entirely sure. But I do know the pic you posted doesn't work, you might wanna fix it. |

Double post. so sue me
OK, I don't think there is a problem with a pic that size. Notice that only your post is stretched and not all the other posts. So you're basically only scrolling to see the pic, but not the entire page as in the olden days. And like I said before, it's not eating up Arc's bandwidth so it shouldn't bother the site. Of course, a mod or the Man himself would be better suited to answer this but hey. |

Thanks for the support Ares As you probably figured out, however, I seem to have made a fool of myself as the site that I was acquiring the oversized pictures from won't let me display most of them as I have to log in to even veiw them (making the whole place a total waste of my time as I will have to copy them to my computer and attach them in my post for anyone else to see them which is no different than doing my own screenshots again). I, however with much searching, have found another site that may not have quite the quantity of screen shots as Thalassg1, but they are of a more reasonable size click here.
Yeah, that was one of the very nice features that Arcady implemented after the crash and data loss back in September

Also take a look HERE. They have a lot of images from every episode (except season 7 I think) and they allow you to link to their images. The site isn't in English, but if you know the episode numbers you can get by. As for linking to large images... it's not going to trouble the sites bandwidth, but it will cause people on dialup to have to wait forever for the image to load. I guess smaller is better, but they could always turn off images by default in their options anyway |

I was wondering, (dunno if it has been asked before: im to tired to read all the previous posts
So this what i was curious about: if somebody uploads a pic, i can right click on properties and i would get the link of the uploaded pic. I can use the [IMG]link[IMG] buttons to copy 10 times if i would want to without taking up bandwith right? But what if the original pic is deleted, will the other [IMG]'d pics still be available to see or will they all turn into red x's? And if a pic is uploaded and then it gets deleted will it still have cost bandwith or will the bandwith return to 'normal' level? This post has been edited by Kaileron: Feb 16th 2004, 3:59 PM |

I'm assuming that you are referring to the site's ranking system for the members. Well, the ranking system is directly proportional to post count (that means that the more you post the higher your rank gets). This system is designed to attract newbies (as is evident when considering the fact that the early ranks are easily obtained but get progressively more difficult to reach as you go up in the "Chain of Command") and should not be taken overlly seriously by older members. Also, the ranking system has no significance in member status whatsoever and should be only looked at recreationally (that means that somebody like me being an Lt. Colonel will have no more influence here than you will have). Enjoy This post has been edited by Apis: Feb 17th 2004, 7:10 PM |

No... if the image was uploaded with the attachment feature in the first place then linking to that uploaded image with an IMG tag will still take up just as much bandwidth as uploading the image again (it would save disk space though obviously). The only way you would save bandwidth by using the IMG tag is if the image is hosted somewhere other than sg1archive.
If the image you link to is deleted then the IMG links you posted will not work. If an image is deleted then it obviously can't use up any bandwidth as it doesn't exist to be transferred to other people's computers. Hope that answered your questions. |

One thing that is bugging me is all these wannabe Mods popping up all over the place.
It seems to me there are a few individuals who do very little posting except "Shut up n00b'...."This has been done before" and sh_t like that. Guess what. There are Mods here already. WE do a damn good job. So all you others lay the f_ck off the n00bs. Now you are going to say "What are you talking about....you are harsh to n00bs" Yes I am...the only difference is that I PM people telling them what they did wrong. When I start smashing n00bs it's because I've PMed them at least 3 times and they still fail to follow the rules. Hey I like funny pictures and I still think you do something stupid you should get laughed at.......but these people are new here, probably don't know a lot about the search function......so instead of looking like a big _sshole and posting some nasty sh_t....sent them a freaking PM already....or let one of us know and we'll do it. If someone is a complete fucktard and still does the same sh_t over and over again...be my guest sh_t all over them. The funny thing is ...the guys who are jumping all over the n00bs are mostly the guys who I had to PM about 4 or 5 times telling them not to do dumbass sh_t. |

This may seem irrevelent but knowing this could really help me out:
Above is a Prt Scrn of a post that Arcady made a while back in the products and announcements section. Now he is obviously using the [ list ] feature in his post. Now I know how to post black bullets with this feature (it is [*]); however, Arcady somehow included hollow bullets as well as square black bullets. Now I like to use the list feature quite a bit as it makes the board look more organized; however, I do not know how to include the secondary and tertiary bullet points (I have already tried quoting his post; but it seems to display HTML as opposed to board code). I would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me how to do these bullets. This post has been edited by Apis: Feb 28th 2004, 11:40 PM |

The active members list (board statistics) can be found on the main index page of the forums. And, the "active members" just shows the people who have been "active" in the past 30 minutes or so. Hope that helps. |

Sorry about the double post. But I was wondering if anyone would know why I have been posting with no problems, then suddenly in two posts, for reasons I don't know, my sig never showed up?
EDIT: Like just now in this one? It did it again? This post has been edited by Jetdeck: Mar 19th 2004, 2:46 PM |

If your sig has a picture in it, then the sig will only appear once per page. My guess is for it to cut down on the load time, as some people have huge pics of jack, danny, whatever in their sigs. I personally think its a good move, especially when people have the animated sigs.
