Also from Gateworld...
QUOTE
Garwin Sanford guest stars on Atlantis
JULY 1, 2004

Actor Garwin Sanford will guest star in the upcoming Stargate Atlantis episode "Home," GateWorld has learned. The actor will apparently be playing Dr. Elizabeth Weir's (Torri Higginson) old flame, whom she left behind on Earth to lead the expedition to the lost city of the Ancients in another galaxy.

Sanford played the recurring role of the Tollan Narim on Stargate SG-1, last seen when his people were apparently annihilated in Season Five's "Between Two Fires." His other TV credits include Dark Angel, Tru Calling, Smallville, Seven Days, Earth: Final Conflict, and many others.

Same actor, new role.

Are they still going to be working at the SGC considering that Atlantis is a civillian, military collaboration? Or is there going to be a new facility.

I have a bad feeling about this. I was hoping thisa would'nt happen until a later season, and even then only very occasionaly. It makes it look like they are running out of plots. And I thought we were gonna see a good string of them.

Well, I'm quite disapointed. Okay, the actor who played Heru'ur did play other roles in SG-1 (him along one or two other actors), but I kept my fingers crossed hoping for sucha thing to never happen once more.

We know Narim too much. Way too much. And now it's Weir's old flame?...

Mental exercise in perfection, just try to get rid of the Narim performance and forget him.

Bad decision on casting. I don't care how much they like the actor. You can't use the same actor on the same series playing different roles. If they were short on actors to choose from, they could have asked me. whistling.gif

Having the same actor that played Narim is just lame. And that's my two bits about it...you'd think they'd be able to find some one else to take his place as an actor. rolleyes.gif

They have a habit of using the same actors over again for different roles. Usually it's a minor role though. To have the same actor for Narim play Weir's love interest is very wrong. We all know Narim too well.

Indeed. Fear the clones.
Playing two "superior medium" roles is just lame.
We've seen Narim too many times, and he always had an important guest starring role.
I just hope we won't see that clone of Narim too foten, despite the actor's good acting.

...but then again it isn't exactly the same series. I'll wait until I actually see the episode before I ridicule it.

isn't it, exactly the same series? It's stargate! made by the same people, about the same people, and geared towards the same people.

I don't think any of us are ridiculing the episode. We're just saying that they should have picked a different actor, because he is "too familar"

Despite the casting, I think it will still be a great episode!

...Keep in mind they had to seperate Atlantis teams from sg1. They cant have the solution to a problem just calling up sg1 or the other way around.

Geez. It's not like Voyager because they go home after 8 episodes. That's why the episode is called "Home". And they're not going to operate off of Earth because it takes so much damn power to send them back and forth.

Finally, a voice of logic, infra.

As far as the same guy playing two roles, you saw him in the first episode of atlantis right before everyone went through the Earth gate to Atlantis and I didn't hear anyone complaining then.

They stated in the first episode that their priority was to find another ZPM in order to re-contact Earth, So it makes sense that they'd do it in the first season.

Stranded in the Pegasus galaxy, the Atlantis team is on the look-out for new energy sources to give the gate the extra power needed to return home, to Earth. When they explore a new world through the gate, Dr. McKay thinks he may have found just that: if only he can find a way to harness the planet's unique and highly-charged atmosphere to power the gate.
McKay succeeds, and after months in the Pegasus galaxy a wormhole to Earth is finally established. Several members of the expedition return to a warm welcome on Earth. Hoping to find a way to return to Atlantis with the energy required to rescue the rest of the stranded explorers, the long-lost heroes are debriefed at Stargate Command and eventually settle back into their normal lives.

But clues begin to turn up that cause the team to suspect that all is not as it seems. Have things changed since they left Earth? Will they be able to return to Atlantis at all?

(From Gateworld)

It would be a terrible story line if it turns out to be just a dream!!!!!!!!
or even worst an alternate reality.

I didn't even recognize him in the first episode. Once I saw the pictures I was kinda suprised. I like the actor, so the hope is that he plays the part well. I don't know if I can get over Narim though, it's burnt into my brain that way.

I think the problem is going to be more along the lines of getting whomever comes through the gate back to Atlantis, but when they do, I hope they make use of the wormhole and take a bunch of stuff back with them, instead of just five or six people walking back through...
