*hearing you - omg omg omg*
Can this be too good to be true?? An Ancient War Ship??? This is making me think that the BIG D is gonna die pretty soon into the season if we are seeing a ancient war ship. I mean - a bit too soon in the shows history for a "fleet" dont you think? |

Hmmm... The Aurora is rumored to be a top secret US program, possibly an aircraft. That fits...

If it is true then that guy really loves the spoilers or he is taking the P##s. Surely they wouldn't put anything out about that months before the second season starts.

It is strange but most of the time he simply says ?It?s possible? and states he?s ?just kidding? if something isn?t genuine or meant in jest. He obviously knows that fans will believe almost anything he says and seems to be a cautious individual because of that, Monsieur Mallozzi is no idiot when it comes to this front.
He may simply be starting to reel in the audience early this year, giving spoilers to ensure people are compelled to watch the episode to get definitive answers. Mind you he does seem to like jokes so it could be false. This post has been edited by Felger: Apr 11th 2005, 3:33 PM |

I think he's at it. It will not only bring in regular Atlantis & new fans but also SG-1 fanatics who are really into the whole ancients stuff. You can see him giving small bits away to tickle the viewers tastebuds. Certainly not an ancient warship + even a name along with it, That's a huge piece of info to give away & if there were plans for this to be introduced then surely it's something you would want to wow everyone with. Like at the end of ' The Lost City II' where doom seems inevitable then they get the ancient outpost & use the drones to save the day. So if there is any truth in it at all & the episode is titled the same as the ship, then I can only see them perhaps coming across one on an away mission that has been totally destroyed & is unrepairable. They could salvage parts & information as such from it.
Don't get me wrong I think it'd be great to seem them have their own ancient warship & start to kick Wraith butt. Just if it happened this early in the shows lifespan then i'd fear for it's future. |

As long as they still have the Daedalus at that time, a wrecked ship would be fine I think. I suppose if maybe it were not completely wrecked but not in good enough condition for them to fly around obliterating their enemies it might be okay too though.

QUOTE(ancient01 @ Apr 11th 2005, 5:59 AM) From any number of conspiracy theory websites the Aurora was alleged to be an experimental stealth fighter-bomber capable of mach 6, high altitude, and was supposed to be the replacement for the SR-71 Blackbird. The aircraft would cruise at Mach 5 (3,350 mph) speed at a maximum altitude of about 100,000 feet. From my study of anti-gravity technology some of the B-2 stealth bomber's features are allegedly being added to the aurora such as it's use of super-high voltage along the wingspan to create a 'force-field-like' effect which deflects molecules. The super-high voltages when combined with a number of other features gives it additional lift essentially allowing the plane to fly through the air resembling more so a boat on water rather than like a submarine swimming through the sea. No friction, no heat, greater speed, and greatly decreased fuel consumption since it can now go faster and farther with less fuel. The mission of the Aurora is supposed to allow very quick response times to bombing needs. Allowing less time for enemy defenses to react once a moving targe on the ground is found and tracked. If you know you need to get something in the air and dropping a payload in a matter of minutes before the target makes it to an underground, or cave-like base, the aurora would suit those needs. In either case it's safe to say that the writers are borrowing some of the rumored aspects of the aurora for the ancient equivalent, should it be the case that they are going to discover an ancient war ship. Damn, I forgot all about that, I love reading about all that Black ops & Black Project stuff, So can't believe I missed about the US supposedly having one. I found the link before christmas. Should have seen the connection sooner Doh!
![]() Here So if the pic is anything to go by, then an Ancient souped up model will probably resemble the ship from X-men 2. Although I seriously can't see them finding a perfectly working ship this early into the shows history. Still it's be really cool to see them get one but it'll be in pieces or so badly damaged it would take them many years to study it & get it working. They will end up pulling a few valuable technological advancements from the damaged database, Something to do with the Shields,Drones or Zpm's. Hope I'm wrong & they get a fully working version to blow up some Wraith butt in, Can't see it happening though! |

an Aurora is also illumination via radiation hitting the magnetosphere, so you might be premature in calling an episode named such to be about an ancients warship. (and the "Aurora project" [such as that plane] is bunk, the military code name Aurora was for the stealth bomber design compitition.)

(and the "Aurora project" [such as that plane] is bunk, the military code name Aurora was for the stealth bomber design compitition.) Joseph Mallozzi when asked a question about will there be any Ancient Warships seen in season 2, then he replied about it being called Aurora. So he could be lying & instead we'll see Shep's team on some backwards planet watching the Pegasus equivelant of the Northern Lights. I can hear everybody falling over themselves in anticipation already. Here So because a project codename for another plane was the same it's all crap. Tell me exactly how do you know this for sure. Do you personally work in Groom Lake or know of a high ranking military official that told you about all their black projects. The New York Times, Jane's Defense Weekly and the US magazine Aviation Week have all reported that the aircraft exists. So is it not entirely possible that 2 seperate projects could have the same Name or is that too much of an impossibility for you to comprehend. You know what guys - its a tv show - it wouldnt matter if they got the name from sesame street.
Imagine the Big D and aurora going side by side against a wraith armada. they could do entire episodes about the seperate exploits of the two vessles of destruction. Caldwell: Aurora this is Daedalus...we are having some problems negotiating the Gennii to surrender - our Asgard beam doesnt penetrate that far underground - request assistance....over" Everett?: Daedalus this is Aurora...we wont have too much trouble liberating this world from 4 wraith hives soooooo.....I reckon we'll be there to help with the Gennii situation in approximately 20mins...over"Gennii World. KABOOM BANG CRASH! Gennii commander: Ok Ok we surrender - we aknowledge atlantis to be in the right hands and we will give back the C4 we stole.he he he he ha ha ha ha ha |

It would appear that all this speculation about the Aurora being an ancient ship has infact been answered over on gateworld...
QUOTE NEW! April 25 ? "Yes, the Aurora is a big Ancient ship." (Stargate writer Martin Gero, in a message at GateWorld Forum) Short and sweet huh? |

As I have said before in the "Ancient Battleship" thread - the Aurora - I think - will be about the size of a HATAK.
This is based on the Deadalus being much much much bigger than the Promethius and the Promethius was about the size of a HATAK. When Gero said "The Aurora is a big Ancient shuip - medium I guess". It sounded to me like the "medium bit" was like an afterthought. Perhaps the scale in the Pegasus Galaxy goes like this. PEGASUS CRAFT are in green and MILKY WAY CRAFT are in blue. Hive Ship - about size of Daedalus Aurora - about size of Promethius Wraith Cruiser - about size of 2 Alkesh Dart and PJ - smaller than 302 and Gliders. |

The Daudalus is not much larger then the Prometheus. He said larger, not MUCH MUCH MUCH larger.
It probably will not be a noticable diference in size. Hive Ship - about size of Daedalus(I HIGHLY doupt that) Aurora - about size of Promethius(maby... i doupt it though) Wraith Cruiser - about size of 2 Alkesh(they looked much bigger then that) Dart and PJ - smaller than 302 and Gliders.(PJs and Darts are bigger actually, wing span does not indicate size. The design is one of the coolest ever made, but if it gets whitish/greyish, or even chromed, it will look too much like those recent Naboo ships from Star Wars (which the first one - the best one - was inspired by the Blackbird). |

QUOTE(Atlantians @ May 14th 2005, 1:25 AM) His exact words for the Daedalus "She?s quite bigger and has a unique look, yes." So quite bigger can be anything for all you or I know, After all it depends on his own personal definition of the word 'quite'. |

Well, that's weird because the blueprints shots of the Daedalus in that S8 episode seemed to look like a Prometheus seen from above.
